A Materialist Theory of the Mind – 1968). / Is there any relevant conceptual connection between introspection and moral concepts? What is the connection between different theories of introspection and issues in moral psychology? Those are the central questions of this dissertation. The point to which I wish to draw attention is the relationship between different theories of introspection and theses in moral psychology and moral theories. I shall argue in defense of the following statement: any moral philosophy presupposes certain theses on self-attribution of mental states and, in particular, self-attribution of propositional attitudes. That is, no moral theory is innocent on certain assumptions that can be mapped into different theories of introspection. Furthermore, I believe that the opposite way also deserves analysis, namely one assuming that a particular theory about the functioning of psychological concepts may have implications for the kind of moral theory that should be accepted. Our goal is to demarcate two groups of theories about the operation of introspective processes. On one side, theories that assume an analogy, inspired by Locke, between external and internal sense. In this case we will analyze theses of seminal authors associated with introspective psychology from the late nineteenth century, as Franz Brentano (Psychologie vom empirischen Standpunkten-1874), William James (The Principles of Psychology, 1890) and James Sully (Illusions - 1881). We will also examine the first formulation of contemporary philosophical theories of the internal sense presented by David Armstrong (A Materialist Theory of the Mind - 1968). On the other side, we shall discuss the theories of introspection that reject the perceptual model. The main responsibility in contemporary philosophy for this critique of the Lockean analogy is Sydney Shoemaker. We will pursue a detailed analysis of the arguments presented in Royce Lectures delivered in 1994. Shoemaker's arguments gave rise to the so-called rationalist theories of introspection or self-knowledge, and among the several authors of this trend we chose Richard Moran (Authority and Estrangement: An Essay on Self-Knowledge- 2001) as representative of the consequent development of this critique to the perceptual model of introspection toward themes of moral psychology. We will argue that theories that assume the Lockean analogy between internal and external senses, offer support to what we are naming non-relational view of the moral argument. Given that the arguments criticizing these theories of the internal sense are cogent, the distinctive characteristics of this non-relational view must be set aside in a proper analysis of the moral argument.

Origens da interioridade: autoconhecimento e externalismo / Origins of interiority: self-knowledge and externalismeCláudia Maria Passos Ferreira 29 May 2006 (has links)
externalistas do autoconhecimento. / The aim of the thesis is to investigate the formation of interiority from an externalist approach. The processes by which the self is constituted are considered to be associated with the development of the first-person perspective. Adopt a first-person perspective is to become able to refer to yourself and know your own mental and bodily states. Self-awareness and self-knowledge were traditionally subsumed under the idea of Descartes first person authority. According to the Cartesian view, we would have preferred and non-empirical to our mental states that would be expressed by a knowledge access. The central thesis of externalism asserts, instead, that the content of mental states consists in part by relationships with the environment. The adoption of the externalist thesis calls into question the Cartesian assumption that we have privileged access to the contents of our thoughts, thus restricting the authority of the first person. The perceptual externalism Davidson, for example, offers a ternary I-interpreter-world solution to the origins of self. Davidson's thesis is presented as reconciling the self and the central ideas of externalism. Are presented two models of external genesis of I: 1) ecological models that propose a development of a sense of self as a due to interactions between the self and the environment; 2) the psychological model Winnicott proposes that the emergence of the sense of self from a ternary relationship between the self, others and the transitional objects. We defend the thesis that the psychological model of Winnicott is most suitable for describing the epistemological conceptualization of the origins Davidson externalist self-knowledge.

livro intitulado Mem?rias, Sonhos, Reflex?es (Mem?rias, Sonhos, Reflex?es,
As sucessivas
This thesis constitutes an effort to understand the self-knowledge presented in
the autobiographical narratives of Carl Gustav Jung on his book Memories,
Dreams, Reflections (JUNG, 2016). The study of the autobiographical
fragments indicates that in Jung, the knowledge of the human being about
himself operates constructions of the imaginary bidding us a sense of reality
through the cultivation of ancestral affinities of sensibility. This was the
argument I pursued. Furthermore, far from being a narcissistic closure of the
subject per se, a notion of self-knowledge promotes some sort of ethics and
aesthetics of life. From the constructions of the imaginary, derives the ethics
from the subject to oneself (self-ethics) addressed to the other (socio-ethics).
This encounter depends on the cultivation of a sense of reality that can only be
carried out through the engagement in the human community, with the
acceptance of their consequences. Also, a dimension of ethics refers to the
anthropos. This attitude of engaging human destiny even demands a
rapprochement of the subject with the ancestral memory as its primordial
psychic forces and given by the cultivation of the ancestral affinities of the
sensibility. The successive approaches to the research material were carried
out with the support of the ideas of Mircea Eliade (1947, 1992a, 1992b, 2012),
Gaston Bachelard (1978, 2008, 2013), Edgar Morin (2008, 2011, 2013, 2014),
Teresa Vergani (2009), among many others. The Jung self-knowledge is a slow
and patient construction, mediated by images and symbols relations, a complex
and unfinished product of a lifelong itinerancy whether in terms of the individual
and centuries in terms of humanity.

Esta pesquisa busca estabelecer uma relação analógica entre a vivência com o trabalho em argila e sua transformação em cerâmica; a experiência de algumas etapas da "Imaginação Ativa"; e o processo alquímico na concepção Junguiana / Abstract: Jung made eyes at creativity and imagination; both become him an important reference to whom throws itself into the creative world. From his point of view, symbolic experience is an essential tool to psychic growth. Through this job, I purpose a theorist reflection based on my plastique know-how with clay and on mix of two knowledge fields: Art and Psychology. I try to define an approach, which give me a sense when make reference to art and creation. Some questions show up about what could stimulate artists to produce their work nowadays. Beuys developed a work, where art has none reference with traditional process creations. On the other hand, it achieves all life's creations. By using pioneering and relevance of its thought, it is possible to fundament the idea that an internal reality and psychic experience from creation process have a great value. Jung called assimilation method of unconscious contents as "Active Imagination". It consists of capacity to relate our feelings, thoughts, attitudes and emotions, objectifying them by several forms. Internal experiences have their proper languages and represent an inexhaustible source of contents. They can be explored not by dreams only, but through plastique expressions, dance movement, poetry and others. Alchemical world vision didn't establish divisions between subject and object. When matter transmutation denominates some speech, actually it refers to transformation process occurred with the man himself. Once he didn't have enough matter knowledge, he turned it in a mirror to reflect all events of his soul. Then, it was possible to draw an interesting perception between three alchemical process phases: nigredo, albedo and rubedo as well as between three clay work stages: clay cleaning, piece production and fire processes. This research looks for to establish an analogical relation between experiences with clay work and its transformation into ceramic; experience of some "Active Imagination" phases; and alchemical process from Junguiana conception / Mestrado / Mestre em Artes

This work deals with relations established between teacher-artist and his students, during art classes at school, so as to enable the fostering of a creative environment that stimulates one¿s expressive voice. Four experiences that took place at "Professora Rosina Frazatto dos Santos State School", in Campinas-SP, with Elementary School¿s first to fifth grade children, have been selected to integrate this dissertation¿s material for analysis. The atmosphere of affection, intuition, feelings, sensations, the subjective body, unconscious elements, intense creative mobilization and mutual inspiration identified in the people involved in these lessons are aspects seen during the analysis of experiences based on the idea of symbolic field that characterizes this environment. Considering the teacher-artist as an author of his lessons, this work also establishes a parallel between the elaboration of class activities and artistic production, using concepts of creativity. During the development of narratives, other personal aspects (memories, dreams, impressions and reflections) were added to the material under analysis, building the picture of the teacher that I am. Thus, this work indicates possible ways for the qualification of teaching praxis, considering the self-knowledge acquired from the teacher that register and reflects upon himself and his classes, stimulating the students to autentic expression. Lastly, in this reaserch's development, after a six-year teaching period, I realize that, in the attempt to comprehend myself in teaching, I traveled a path in search of the teacher that I am, and, in this path, renewed my encounter with the artist that I am and the expression of my voice / Mestrado / Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte / Mestra em Educação

[en] DOGMATISM AND SCEPTICISM IN KANTS CRITICAL PHILOSOPHY / [pt] DOGMATISMO E CETICISMO NA FILOSOFIA CRÍTICA DE KANTALEXANDRE ARANTES PEREIRA SKVIRSKY 21 October 2008 (has links)
[pt] A filosofia crítica de Kant refuta o dogmatismo e o
ceticismo tomados
exclusivamente, mediante o critério do autoconhecimento da
razão. Entretanto, o
dogmatismo não pode ser simplesmente superado. A conversão
no procedimento
dogmático, tanto para a razão quanto para a filosofia. O
mesmo vale para o
ceticismo.
moderno a sustentar e a
filosofia. / [en] Kant´s critical philosophy refutes dogmatism and also
scepticism taken
exclusively, through the criteria of the self-knowledge of
reason. However,
dogmatism cannot be simply surpassed. The conversion from
the dogmatic
posture to the critical does not exclude what is necessary
in the dogmatic
procedure, for reason as well as for philosophy. The same
goes for scepticism.
The hypothesis guiding this work is that the dogmatic
procedure and the sceptical
method are both necessary for knowledge; they cannot be
surmounted, but must
instead receive a critical version. It is right to say that
the synthesis in some
measure of scepticism and dogmatism in a single
philosophical system
characterizes modern thought. This synthesis, therefore,
can be considered as a
mark of modernity, and, for Kant, to oppose the sceptical
method with the
dogmatic procedure is a means of keeping reason healthy,
and thought, vigorous,
being Kant the first thinker in modernity to hold and
elaborate this synthesis as a
permanent task for philosophy.

Previous issue date: 2001-02-21 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objective of this work is to examine how Skinner formulates self-control behavior throughout his writings and, according to his formulation, what elements could be drawn to an educational program to develop self-control. Forty-four writings by Skinner were selected and analyzed. The analysis allowed to point out that Skinner's notion of self-control is antagonistic towards that he defines as the traditional view; that self-control is produced only when there is conflict between positive and aversive consequences (the latter being primarily provided by the social environment) and how selfknowledge is a prerequisite for self-control. The relation between self-control and self-management was also discussed in this work. Fin ally , it was concluded that an educational program to develop self-control should both prevent behavior punished by the group and remedy the effects of punishment that were made contingent on powerfully reinforced behavior.
As análises evidenciaram
tornadas contingentes a comportamentos altamente reforçados.
