Murad, Hevi January 2010 (has links)
It today's global world we live in the media have started to examine businesses more and more. In addition consumers are expecting more from products, because they are well informed. This means that companies need to market themselves effectively, to convince and get across their message to their customers. Marketing is an extensive process in which different factors must be taken into account. A company must know what the coustomer needs in order to get through to them. In addition for a company to ensure long-term survival in the market and be profitable, they must know their strategy. With the help of strategic planning, companies manages to achieve their overall goals. The purpose of this report is to examine how communication company Visit Sweden and how markets company Stockholm Visitors Board, within tourism, markets the Image of Sweden, to other countries. My intention is to get better insights on the strategies applied in marketing, what factors are being raised to support the growth in the travel and tourism industry in Sweden. And also what attracts a tourist to travel to large cities. The material of this report is based on interviews with Visit Sweden, Stockholm Visitors Board table and Foreign Office. The literary sources consist of scientific literature, articles, websites, surveys and reports. The report shows that for a company to market themselves in an effectives manner requires that they position and segment themselves. This is done to create a competitive product or brand. This report reveals that telecommunications company, Visit Sweden, markets itself on an international level, by its trademark "Sweden", whick is linked with nature. And Stockholm Visitors Board markets company itself through its brand name "Stockholm- The Capital of Scandinavia". The message that they are trying to send to turists is that Stcokholm is Scandinavia's capital, cultural center and economic center. They market Stockholm as a "modern" and trendy city with history of more than seven centuries. Reasons why Stockholm Visitors Board thinks that tourists choose to travel to Stockholm can be, to give them a big city and yet also a genuine nature. Both companies are working to increase growth in the travel and torusim industry. It has also become clear in this report that for the growth of the travel and tourism indurstry to continue requires that the region's geographical characteristic is being lifted. Visit Sweden claims that one appealing factors for Sweden is availability, because of the many direct air routes to Sweden. Other important factors are exports, accommodation and cuisine. Visit Sweden is working efficiently to attract more and more tourists. Thus, it is necessary that a region has a strong image and strong profile for the government to invest more. It turned out that the Ministry of Industry increased allocation by 50 million, which gave Visit Sweden the possibility to invest even more on international markets. This resulted in positive figures in 2009, which ended up at 12.9 million overnight visits from other countries.

Bentahar, Sofia, Milutinovic, Aleksandra January 2013 (has links)
Purpose: The aim of this paper is to investigate whether there are differences between big cities and small cities in adventure tourism. The cities that are studied are Stockholm and Visby. Methodology: The study is based on a qualitative method. We have done interviews and observation. We also used books and internet when collecting information.         Conclusions: The study has shown that differences exist between large and small cities. People seek out the opposite, whether you're from a big city or small town. Those who traveled to Stockholm made the trip to experience and see the big city. Basis of choice has been the large selection, possibilities, events and various attractions. Respondents who chose to visit Visby made their choice primarily because of the beach and the feeling of being overseas that one feels when one is in Visby. They have turned to calm, to relax and get away from their everyday lives.

Fysisk aktivitet - Landsort/Storstad

Persson, Maria, Schlyter, Maria January 2007 (has links)
This study is about children’s physical activities in two different environments, countryside/big city. The purpose of this study was to find out how much boy’s and girl’s in sixth grade are physically active in school and leisure time, from a gender perspective within each environment. The investigation involves a total of 160 children, of which 73 on the countryside and 87 in the big city. The meaning of physical activity is a well-debated subject today. The human lifestyle has become more inactive. Screen bounded activities like TV, DVD, computer games etc. has contributed to that a lot of people avoid physical activity. All modern conveniences such as cars, buses, elevators and escalators etc. are also contributory causes to the fact that the human being doesn’t need any direct physical activity.A quantitative method has been used to find out how much children are physically active in school and leisure time. The data collecting has been coded statistical with the data program SPSS and analysed by tables and figures. The significance was calculated between the variables environments and sex and the result doesn’t show any significance differences between boy’s and girl’s physical activity on each environments. The conclusion of this study shows that boy’s and girl’s on each environment are physically active in school and leisure time.

Im Zwielicht | Großstadt, Kino, Schützengraben

Simon, Anna 06 April 2022 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on how light(ing) and seeing/ perception changed in the course of electrification, from the perspective of German literature, published between 1900 and 1933. My first claim is, that the use of electric light created a series of new perceptual dispositifs, where dubious light and precarious visual conditions prevailed despite the luminous intensity of electric lighting. Three particularly striking twilight scenarios, that play a significant role in technology and aesthetics in the early 20th century, – namely the City, the Cinema, and the Trenches of WWI – are gripping settings to demonstrate, how disruptive lighting infrastructure produced new scopic regimes and innovative aesthetic perspectives (Weltanschauungen) that changed the techniques of visual perception. Drawing from a broad base of sources from literature, technology, science, philosophy, and aesthetics, I argue that the disruptive lighting technologies did not only change light phenomena, visual conditions and perception, but also transformed the cultural semantics of light substantially. Closely tied to concepts of truth, perception and reality, the rhetoric of light and lighting are dense metaphors and symbols, deeply interconnected with the history of knowledge. The new light phenomena required aisthetic (sensory perception-related) adaptations, as well as aesthetic coping strategies, like new modes of representation and symbolic-metaphorical attributions that troubled contemporary knowledge about light and visuality. My research zooms in on the visual dispositifs of ‘electric modernity’ and thus on the new correlations between technically generated twilight, epistemic irritation, and narrative visuality. By analysing the interplay of lighting and visual technology, aisthesis, and literary aesthetics in early 20th century, I hope to shed new light on the intriguing question of ‘modern perception’ that remains relevant from the beginning of the electric age until now.
