The aim of our study has been to examine the care managers’ attitude to in- service training. We also wanted to see which factors the care managers and a member of the administrative head think influences this. The question formulations in the study were; what does in- service training mean for care managers and the administrative head, what was their attitude against it and which assumptions does the administrative head give to care managers for in- service training. The study is based on qualitative interviews with care managers and with a member of the administrative head. To interpret the material we have been using earlier studies, Senges theory of learning organization and Marsick and Watkins theory about informal and incidental learning. A main result is that the care managers obtain a great deal of possibilities to in- service training, for example meetings, educations and courses. The study also shows that the organization priorities formal learning while the care managers emphasise learning through interaction with other people, for example cohorts, contributors and users. Both care managers and a member of the administrative head says that there is a weakness in terms of follow- up and assessment. One recurrent topic in these discussions is responsibility, but the informants is not united of who’s the responsibility actually is.

We thought that the guideline was something positive and a help full tool for the care managers. The result in our research points out that the guidelines makes insecurity instead of comfort. Our study shows that the care managers are contradictory regarding to their freedom of space. In the other hand they consider that their freedom of space is positive, but on the other hand when the municipal guidelines don´t work, they become worried and insecure. It´s the none working municipal guidelines who gives the care managers a huge freedom of space. Which leads to that the care managers is afraid of doing misjudgments.
The occupational group who works in the care of older people in Sweden is an exposed group since the work is often defined as a strenuous profession, both physical and psychically, and this puts comparatively many workers on sick leave. To promote good health, as well as prevent bad health is the main purpose of the work environment development. The attitude of the care manager towards work environment development may have a significant impact on the co-workers health. The purpose of the study was to investigate the attitude of care managers towards work environment development and the co-workers work environment and in the same time get knowledge in what issues they have a salutary approach respectively a pathological approach. Empirics were gathered from semi-structured interviews with six care managers from the care of older people administration in municipality of Kalmar. Two different organisation theories, Human Resource and Scientific management were used to analyse the empirics from the interview. Theories concerning salutary and pathological attitudes towards health were also used. The organisation theories were selected to understand the care managers attitude in the work environment development and the co-workers work environment. Every care managers in the interviews had both a salutary and a pathological attitude regarding the co-workers work environment and the work environment development concerning their own unit. The care managers waried between these two attitudes and one conclusion was that one attitude doesn’t need to exclude the other, they can rather be a complement to each other in a successful work environment development. All the care managers in the study used strategies based on the Human Resource theory. For example everyone expressed that they worked on behalf of co-workers own influence, they encouraged independence and participation and they wanted every co-worker to experience the feeling of teamwork. However there are results in the study that point at, from a management perspective, the Scientific management too. This emerged when the care manager talked about savings conditions, the established budget of the unit, demands of efficiency and specialisation within the care of elderly.

Självbestämmande inom institutionens gränser : Implementering av socialtjänstlagens verksamhetsmål och värdegrund på korttidsboenden för äldre / Self-determination within the boundaries of the institution : Implementation of the Social Services Act's objectives and basic values on short-term accommodations for elderlyNilsson, Linnéa, Borgfors, Josefin January 2015 (has links)
The study aims to illustrate how caregivers and care managers on three short-term accommodations implement values concerning self-determination, meaningfulness, safeness, integrity, well-being, dignity and how they work to develop the individual's own resources. These values are stated in the Social Services Act in the objectives in section 1 §1, and in section 5 §4 (SFS 2001:453). To answer the aim of the study three care managers were interviewed and a questionnaire were used to obtain the caregivers perspective on the short-term accommodations. The empirical data were analyzed on the basis of Self-determination theory and institutionalization. Result shows that the care managers main method of implementation of the basic values are to discuss it with the caregivers in the workplace. A large proportion of the staff however, do not know the content of the basic values. The residents’ ability to exercise self-determination are limited and their integrity is curtailed when overcrowding when they share a room and lavatories. People with dementia and those who dwelt in the short-term accommodation for respite are being excluded thus, they have less opportunity to get their needs met.

Biståndshandläggarens frihet och begränsningar : En kvalitativ studie om handlingsfrihet inom socialpsykiatrin i Stockholm stad / Freedom and limitations of care managers : A qualitative study on freedom of action in social psychiatry in the city of StockholmRoos, Max January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate the freedom of action of the care managers in the handling of trial and training apartments. The study is based on the following questions: What level of freedom does the care managers experience in the assessment of trial and training apartments? How does the care manager create a good environment, taking into consideration the client's involvement and wishes, in the management of trial and training apartments? The study is based on individual interviews based on a semi-structured interview guide with six care managers working in the government-run social psychiatry organisation in the city of Stockholm. The results of the study showed that there is no contradiction between the guidelines and the individual assessment that all clients are entitled. In either case, when it comes to the trial and training apartments at the social psychiatry organisation in the city of Stockholm. The study also shows that the client's cognitive ability determines how much the client participates in the investigation. The unused space of action is given to the care manager, which then increases the scope of action.
