Redeployment in Convoys of Fleets of Shared Vehicles / Redéploiement en convois de flottes de véhicules partagés

Wegener, Jan-Thierry 26 July 2016 (has links)
Carsharing is a modern way of car rental, attractive to customers who make only occasional use of a car on demand. In a carsharing system, a fleet of cars is distributed at specified stations in an urban area, customers can take a car at any time and station and return it at any time and station, provided that there is a car available at the start station and a free place at the destination station. To ensure the latter, customers have to book their demands in advance. For operating such a system in a satisfactory way, the stations have to keep a good ratio between the total number of places and the number of cars in each station, in order to serve as many requests as possible. This leads to the problem of balancing the load of the stations, called Relocation Problem: an operator has to monitor the load and to decide when and how to move cars from “overfull” stations to “underfull” ones. We consider an innovative carsharing system, where the cars are partly autonomous, which allows to build wireless convoys of cars leaded by a special vehicle, such that the whole convoy is moved by only one driver. This setting is similar to bikesharing, where trucks can simultaneously move several bikes during the relocation process. In this thesis, we address the dynamic and static aspects of the Relocation Problem. The “Dynamic Relocation Problem” describes the situation when cars can be moved between stations during the working hours in order to satisfy the needs of the customers. Hereby, the operator has to make decisions dynamically according to the current situation. In the “Static Relocation Problem” we assume that there is no (or only little) interaction by customers with the system. This situation occurs when the carsharing system is prepared for the next day, i.e., the relocation process is performed during the night. We model the Relocation Problem in the framework of a metric task system. Afterwards, we theoretically analyze both problems and give strategies to solve them. Finally, we perform some computational experiments to examine the applicability of the presented algorithms in practice.

DESIGN OF A HYBRID HYDROGEN-ON-DEMAND AND PRIMARY BATTERY ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Michael J Dziekan (7241471) 14 January 2021 (has links)
<p>In recent years lithium-ion battery electric vehicles and stored hydrogen electric vehicles have been developed to address the ever-present threat of climate change and global warming. These technologies have failed to achieve profitability at costs consumers are willing to bear when purchasing a vehicle. IFBattery, Inc. has developed a unique primary battery chemistry which simultaneously produces both electricity and hydrogen-on-demand while being both low cost and without carbon emissions. In order to determine the feasibility of the IFBattery chemistry for mobile applications, a prototype golf cart was constructed as the first public application of IFBattery technology. The legacy lead acid batteries of the prototype golf cart were replaced with an IFBattery chemistry tuned to primarily produce hydrogen-on-demand with supplemental electricity. Hydrogen produced by the IFBattery was purified and then fed into a hydrogen fuel cell where electricity was produced to power the vehicle. Electricity from the IFBattery was converted to the common voltage of the golf cart and also used to power the vehicle. Validation testing of the IFBattery powered golf cart demonstrated favorable results as an alternative to both lithium-ion battery and stored hydrogen technologies, and displayed potential for future applications.</p>

Explicit Writing Instruction : A Genre-based Analysis for Developing Scaffolding for Diploma Project Writing / Explicit Skrivundervisning : En genre-baserad analys för utveckling av scaffolding för skrivning i gymnasiearbetet

Olsson, Daniel, Vahlén, Alice January 2021 (has links)
With an increase of Swedish upper-secondary students’ motivation to enrol in university studies (Statistics Sweden, 2020a, 2020b), teachers must ensure that learners are adequately equipped to meet the expectations of higher education. However, in a national report, Skolinspektionen (2015) states many students fail to meet the standards of academic writing when undertaking the diploma project. To ensure learners become eligible for graduation and prepared for university studies, teachers need to be able to instruct pupils and to design effective scaffolding for diploma project writing. Therefore, the following study investigates the applicability of a genre-based model as atool for analysing relevant student-produced researchers papers written by EFL students, and to what extent the same genre-pedagogical analytical framework may be suitable as a tool for helping teachers to develop scaffolding for diploma projects written in English (and other languages). To address questions, a direct content analysis employing John Swales’ CARS model (1990) of rhetorical moves as a conceptual framework as a point of departure was performed on six EFL teacher-student research papers from the English and Education program for upper-secondary teachers of English at Malmö university. The analysis demonstrated that while several moves were executed in the pre-service teachers’ papers, some moves were absent. Additionally, several unconventional moves were identified, which can be attributed to the specific genres of the independent and degree projects. Hence, Swales’ CARS model is applicable for analysing student-produced research papers following the IMRAD structure. However, further investigation is encouraged into the genre-specific features of the student papers and the subsequent adaptation of the model to reflect the student-paper genre more closely. Consequently, to employ the model for designing scaffolding for diploma projects, teachers need to develop a critical understanding of moves employed within and across disciplines and teach them explicitly as part of pupils’ training and assessment in the writing process. Finally, further research targeting how teachers design and implement explicit genre-based writing scaffolding is called for.

Vstup luxusních automobilových značek na Balkánský trh / Penetration of Luxury Car Brands to Balkan Region

Učeň, Michal January 2010 (has links)
Z důvodu negativního vlivu globální hospodářské krize na automobilový průmysl autor analyzuje vedle distribuce nových automobilů i možnost prodeje ojetých vozů. V první části diplomové práce jsou popsána teoretická východiska vztahující k analýze trhu. Druhá, praktická část, je zaměřena na vlastní analýzu potenciálu vybraných trhů a zhodnocení, jestli má společnost Leonhardt Group na trhy vstoupit a jakou marketingovou strategii zvolit.

Développement de la spectroscopie DRASC femtoseconde à sonde à dérive de fréquence pour la thermométrie haute cadence dans les milieux gazeux réactifs / Development of the chirped probe pulse femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering for high-speed temperature measurements in gaseous reactive flowfields

Berthillier, Frédéric 19 December 2017 (has links)
The experimental study of the physico-chemical processes of combustion requires the use of non-intrusive diagnostics. This manuscript reports the development of the CARS (Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering)) laser diagnostic in the femtosecond pulse regime for which the Chirped Pulse Probe (CPP) configuration enabled instantaneous measurements of temperature at 1kHz. A theoretical, numerical and experimental study allowed highlighting the possibility to measure temperature from the data processing of instantaneous DRASC spectra acquired in air/argon mixtures (300-600K) and in premixed flame CH4/Air with an accuracy of 1% at 2100 K. Validity of these results was obtained from numerical/experimental confrontations for different scalar parameters configurations. This study would enable in the near future the application of the CPP fs CARS diagnostic in turbulent flames representative of real flows observed in aeronautical combustion.

Jaká je hodnota mého vozu? Hedonická metoda oceňování německého trhu ojetých vozů / What is My Car Worth? Hedonic Price Analysis of the German Used Car Market

Doležalová, Radka January 2020 (has links)
Valuation of used cars, affected by various technical attributes and information asymmetry, is the key objective of all agents operating on the automobile mar- ket. This thesis, focusing on a hedonic price analysis, aims to determine basic as well as additional attributes as determinants of a used car market price. In addition, the analysis sheds light upon novel attributes (service records, cigarette smoke pollution of a vehicle interior, selling channel factor in the e- commerce environment, and a German geographical division). The hedonic price research uses the unique data sample of the German used car market, extracted from the database of the e-commerce platform AutoScout24 com- prised of almost 51 thousand vehicles and 57 attributes. The model selection is specified by the incorporation of the Bayesian model averaging approach. The research proves the complexity of a valuation of a used vehicle in a term of a substantial number of relevant variables. The most interesting innovative conclusions are non-significant effect of selling channels and small local price differences among two German regions. Remarkable are also the significant effect of the status of previous owners, bodywork colour, and smoke pollution. The estimated vehicle lifespan of 10 years shows that cars have shorter than...

Contextualizing music recommendations : A collaborative filtering approach using matrix factorization and implicit ratings / Kontextualisering av musikrekommendationer

Häger, Alexander January 2020 (has links)
Recommender systems are helpful tools employed abundantly in online applications to help users find what they want. This thesis re-purposes a collaborative filtering recommender built for incorporating social media (hash)tags to be used as a context-aware recommender, using time of day and activity as contextual factors. The recommender uses a matrix factorization approach for implicit feedback, in a music streaming setting. Contextual data is collected from users' mobile phones while they are listening to music. It is shown in an offline test that this approach improves recall when compared to a recommender that does not account for the context the user was in. Future work should explore the qualities of this model further, as well as investigate how this model's recommendations can be surfaced in an application.
