Using the Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development to complement existing leadership training approaches / Användning av ramverket för Strategisk Hållbar Utveckling (FSSD) för att kompletera existerande ledarskapsutbildningar

Safra, Natalie, Nystrom, Josefin, Deng, Hanzhu January 2009 (has links)
This thesis examines approaches consultants use to assist organizational leaders in moving strategically towards sustainability. The Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development (FSSD), is examined to understand how one can overcome and address the complex challenges that consultants face in assisting leaders to develop appropriate leadership skills and sustainability knowledge that will allow them to lead their organizations strategically towards sustainability. Two consulting firms located in London are reviewed. From this research, an ideal way of using the FSSD called the Strategic Leadership Training Framework (SLTF) is proposed as a tool to guide and supplement current approaches used by consulting firms to improve their leadership training programs. A gap analysis compares the SLTF and the current approaches used by consultants. The SLTF can be used as a tool to assist consultants to find the gaps between the approaches they use and the SLTF. Finally, emotional intelligence and a definition of sustainability are found to be a key factor for a leader to be successful when moving their organization strategically towards sustainability.

: An intrerview study with eight former SVA students regarding the role as a student of "Swedish as a secondary language" in need of special education

Yazidi Svedlund, Miriam January 2017 (has links)
In 1995, Swedish as a secondary language was formally established as an independent subject within the Swedish schooling system. The subject is meant to promote the progression of multilinguals within the Swedish language, but it is shown that there is some insecurity on how to organize and carry out the task. This insecurity is something that has caught my interest and sat the basis of this study.  I have through out this study used a qualitative approach combined with the use of a semistructured interview technique. These interviews were analysed using a theoretical framework including social constructivism, social categorization and ethnical identity. The purpose of this study is to examine how eight former student of Swedish as a secondary language, born or since early age brought up in Sweden, relates themselves to the role of a student of a secondary language in need of special education. The following questions where raised: How do the participants relates themselves to the role of a student of a secondary language in need of special education? How are the participants positioned, by themselves and others, found in their own narrative? How did the role of a student of a secondary language influence the participants motivation, accomplishments and self-perception through their schooling? The participant gave a consistent view that it was not their actual language skills, but rather the fact of being bilingual, that was the basis of them being picked to attend Swedish as a secondary language classes. There was also a wast dissatisfaction regarding the role, which affected their motivation, performance and self-perception through out schooling.

The increase in production without causing damage to the environment is one of the biggest challenges of modern agriculture. In the production of sugarcane, this becomes clearer when it comes to the weed management, since the use of herbicides to configure most widely adopted technique. Weeds cause interference in agricultural production, causing reduction in product quality and crop yields. Therefore, the identification of weed species and the level of infestation becomes very important so that appropriate management strategies can be defined. This study sought to develop and evaluate the performance of an image processing system to identify weeds in sugarcane and estimate their level of infestation, since the existence of a computer tool to recognize plants species should give a great support to decision-making about the management of weed communities. The approach taken to identify weeds and crop plants was based on the methodology of bag-of-words. On this methodology, invariant feature points and multiple images are used to create a dictionary of features, the dictionary is then used to ascertain what his words are present the images to be processed, the quantization of the number of words in the dictionary is present in the image made by a probability density function and the mathematical model of rank was made by support vector machine. Considering the performance measures: overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient, the developed system has processed 435 RGB images, what were obtained from three experimental cultives having plants of sugarcane, corn and six weed species (Urochloa plantaginea, Urochloa decumbens, Panicum maximum, Euphorbia heterophylla, Ipomoea hederifolia and Ipomoea quamoclit). The results show that the method has high power to identify and discriminate weed and crop, reaching overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient of up to 94% and 0.94, respectively. These results give support to premise that an image processing system is capable to identify weeds in sugarcane, estimate the infestation level and to be yet a tool for support the decision-making about the management from the weed species / Doutorado / Maquinas Agricolas / Doutor em Engenharia Agrícola

Unga vuxna som varken arbetar eller studerar : Inifrånperspektiv om vägar till sysselsättning / Young adults who neither work nor study : Inside perspective on pathways to employment

Fernström, David, Carlsson, Julia January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to explore and provide the social work field with testimonies about experienced factors of success using interviews with people who previously were not in education, employment or training (NEET). NEETs were classified into five categories to identify themes in their experienced factors of success. This process was made through thematic analysis. The experienced factors of success were thematized into major themes. The expressed themes followed the person to whom it belonged into their respective NEET-category. Categories and themes were analyzed with Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. Through this analysis we found indications that different NEET-categories have different needs. This could be an indication that categorization can shed some clarity in the NEET phenomena. Viewing NEET as categories with specific needs provides homogeneity which could accelerate the social services process of identifying and providing appropriate help. Though specific needs of individual NEET-categories need further investigation to become effective. / VI-projektet

Lågaffektivt bemötande i förskolan - ur ett inkluderingsperspektiv / Low arousal approach in preschool - from an inclusion perspective

Svensson, Alma, Söderström, Emma January 2024 (has links)
