Autocall versus underlying assets : A study on how changes in the return of the underlying assets affect the autocall's returns

Wårhag, Elias, Tepes, Ioan January 2020 (has links)
Autocallable structured products represent an investment opportunity which has been growing in both the European and American market since they were first launched. The value of these structured products is dependent on how their underlying assets perform, which can consist of stocks, indexes or other assets. With a sample size of 30 structured products we provide research on the relation between the products return and the return of the underlying assets. Specifically, the purpose of the study is to analyse how increases in the returns of the underlying assets affect the returns in the products. Using an ordinary least squares regression model, we find that the return in the underlying assets, the issuers credit rating and the interest rate at issuance have a statistically significant effect on the returns in the products. We conclude that in our sample, an increase in the underlying assets returns results in a less than equal increase in the returns of the autocalls.

Projektering av kontorsbyggnader i tidigt skede : Med hänsyn till dagsljus, energi och inneklimat enligt certifiering med Miljöbyggnad / Office buildings design in an early stage : Based on daylight, energy and indoor climate according to a Swedish building certification

Ljung-Duarte, Paulina, Lundberg, Tilda January 2013 (has links)
Environmental certification of buildings becomes more important as demand from e.g. property owners, potential customers and tenants increases. More and more investors therefore choose to certificate their building projects with some of today’s environmental systems of certification. For an architect it means a more extensive challenge, since it requires higher claims for the building to achieve the desired certification. Some requirements for the authorisation affect big parts of the design of the building. The task is for the architect to achieve a good balance between the requirements and the design of the building. It is therefore very important to plan properly from the start of the process. This project aims to increase the knowledge among architects in the early stage of building process when it comes to office buildings with a certification according to the system Miljöbyggnad. The analysis will be made of calculations for every indicator that directly affects the design of the building and have a special importance in the early stage of the building process. Daylight, energy and the indoor environment judged according to Miljöbyggnad. The studies will be made by a fictitious building placed in Stockholm with the representative properties of a normal office building recording to the building standards of today. Our results in this thesis show that there is a possible way to build an office building with a relatively high portion of window of the building façade, and considered that still accomplish the requirements to achieve the level Silver Miljöbyggnad. There is one thing that seems to be an assumption for this kind of office building, it has to be mobile shading for the windows. Alternatively some other kind of shading that also allow an highly inlet of daylight which at the same time let big part of the total energy from the sun out of the building during warm and sunny days. One other condition to accomplish the level of Silver is that a heat source will be placed under the windows, to make the indoor climate pleasant during winter season. As a conclusion of our analyses it seems that the hardest thing to accomplish is the balance between a good daylight factor, low solar load and at the same time a satisfying thermal climate during summer time.

Certificate Transparency in Theory and Practice

Gustafsson, Josef January 2016 (has links)
Certificate Transparency provides auditability to the widely used X.509 Public Key Infrastructure (PKIX) authentication in Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. Transparency logs issue signed promises of inclusions to be used together with certificates for authentication of TLS servers. Google Chrome enforces the use of Certificate Transparency for validation of Extended Validation (EV) certificates. This thesis proposes a methodology for asserting correct operation and presents a survey of active Logs. An experimental Monitor has been implemented as part of the thesis. Varying Log usage patterns and metadata about Log operation are presented, and Logs are categorized based on characteristics and usage. A case of mis-issuance by Symantec is presented to show the effectiveness of Certificate Transparency.

Master's degree and post-master's certificate preparation for the academic nurse educator role : the use of the National League for Nursing Core Competencies of nurse educators as a curriculum guide

Fitzgerald, Ann 08 November 2016 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / This study described the education courses in Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN Ed) degree and post-master’s certificate (PMC) in nursing education programs and determined which of the eight NLN Core Competencies, used to certify nurse educators, were represented. Data regarding the required credit hours, practicum hours, distance accessibility, and preparation for the Certified Nurse EducatorCM (CNE) Examination also were collected. The study used a descriptive design using a web scraping technique. Program information was obtained from the accrediting bodies for graduate nursing programs in 2015. Course description data were obtained from web pages via curriculum plans, course catalogs, graduate handbooks, or other institutional web pages. Data were collected from each program website, collated, uploaded, and analyzed. In both types of programs, evidence was found for the NLN Core Competencies: Facilitate Learning (97%), Participate in Curriculum Design and Evaluation of Program Outcomes (97%), Use Assessment and Evaluation Strategies (95%), Pursue Continuous Quality Improvement in the Nurse Educator Role (88%), Engage in Scholarship (45%), Function as a Change Agent and Leader (30%), Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization (28%), and Function within the Educational Environment (12%). Only 36% and 40% of MSN Ed and PMC in nursing education programs, respectively, were completely distance accessible. Required credit hours varied from 28 to 65 for the entire MSN Ed and from 6 to 47 for the nursing education courses. PMC credit hours varied from 3 to 45. Practicum clock hours, for both programs, ranged from 60–500 while practicum credit hours ranged from 1–18. Revision of MSN Ed and PMC curricula is indicated to improve inclusion of content in all competency areas. Moreover, increasing the number of distance accessible programs may encourage more nurses to consider a master’s degree or post-master’s certificate in nursing education.

Digital Certificate Revocation for the Internet of Things

Tanner Lindemer, Samuel January 2019 (has links)
Digital certificates have long been used for traditional Internet applications, and have now entered into widespread use for the Internet of Things. However, constrained devices currently have no means to verify the revocation status of certificates. Without the ability to revoke certificates, network administrators have no recourse in the event of a private key compromise. This thesis explores three alternatives to solve this problem: (1) implement the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) as is on a CoAP network stack, (2) compress certificate revocation lists (CRLs) using Bloom filters, and (3) design an optimized version of OCSP (referred to here as TinyOCSP). This work concludes that TinyOCSP reduces the message overhead of online validation by at least 73%. This reduced the energy consumption of certificate validation by 50% relative to OCSP in the experiments on constrained hardware, which shows that it may be a feasible solution for the IoT / Digitala certifikat har länge tillämpats inom traditionella internetappliceringar och har numera även omfattande användningsområden inom IoT.

A Distributed Public Key Infrastructure for the Web Backed by a Blockchain / En distribuerad publik nyckel-infrastruktur för webben uppbackad av en blockkedja

Fredriksson, Bastian January 2017 (has links)
The thesis investigates how a blockchain can be used to build a decentralised public key infrastructure for the web, by proposing a custom federation blockchain relying on honest majority. Our main contribution is the design of a Proof of Stake protocol based on a stake tree, which builds upon an idea called follow-the-satoshi used in previous papers. Digital identities are stored in an authenticated self-balancing tree maintained by blockchain nodes. Our back-of-the-envelope calculations, based on the size of the domain name system, show that the block size must be set to at least 5.2 MB, while each blockchain node with a one-month transaction history would need to store about 243 GB. Thin clients would have to synchronise about 13.6 MB of block headers per year, and download an additional 3.7 KB of proof data for every leaf certificate which is to be checked.
