The Master's thesis "Mapping of the dresses market for an e-shop" should work as a basis for a future business, an e-shop with dresses, providing a customized product -- dresses, which the customer can design himself using the online configurator. The goal of the thesis is to map the market environment, competition and to determine the consumer behaviour and his desires when shopping online. Theoretical part consists of entrepreneur theory, marketing mix, e-commerce and market research. Practical part will introduce the e-shop and the whole market research including both secondary and primary one. The result of the thesis should be a recommendation for the e-shop realization.

Analysing the possibilities of a needs-based house configuratorErmolaev, Roman January 2023 (has links)
A needs-based configurator is a system or tool that assists users in customizing products based on their specific needs. This thesis investigates the challenges of obtaining data for a needs-based machine learning house configurator and identifies suitable models for its implementation. The study consists of two parts: first, an analysis of how to obtain data, and second, an evaluation of three models for implementing the needs-based solution. The analysis shows that collecting house review data for a needs-based configurator is challenging due to several factors, including how the housing market operates compared to other markets, privacy concerns, and the complexity of the buying process. To address this, future studies could consider alternative data sources, adding contextual data, and creating surveys or questionnaires. The evaluation of three models: DistilBERT, BERT fine-tuned for Swedish, and a CNN with a Swedish word embedding layer, shows that both the BERT models perform well on the generated dataset, while the CNN model underperformed. The Swedish BERT model performed the best, achieving high recall and precision metrics for k between 2 and 5. This thesis suggests that further research on needs-based configurators should focus on alternative data sources and more extensive datasets to improve performance.

<p>Today companies in the manufacturing industries need to do everything possible to stay ahead in their market, in order to make a profit. This means that they have to slim the organization and every employee has to be more efficient. In other words the companies have to accomplish more with less people.</p><p>One way to rationalize the sales process is by using a sales and product configurator which is a software tool for handling products and its various variants by using rules and constraints in the configuration process.</p><p>In this paper a background on why configurators are needed is presented, along with some theory behind the configurator software.</p><p>Logica – a business and technology service company – gave us the task to make a comparative study of OTS (of the shelf) sales and product configurators, due to the increasing interest from the market.</p><p>Originally the study should have been done on configuration software but this could not be arranged. Instead information was gathered from the Internet, literature, scientific journals, and proceedings from international conferences in order to make a comparative study.</p><p>Interviews with persons from two Swedish companies, Tacton Systems AB and In-process AB, which develop and sell configurators, were also conducted to get this information.</p><p>The report accounts for the result of the answers and their value.</p> / <p>Idag måste företag inom tillverkningsindustrin göra allt för att ligga steget före på marknaden, detta för kunna göra en vinst. Today's manufacturing industry is heading more and more towards a mass customization approach. This enables customers to individually specify product characteristics and unique design features to fulfill their exact needs. A common way to accomplish this is by means of design automation often used together with knowledge-based engineering. In this thesis, the order-to-delivery process for customized floor gratings at Weland AB is used as a case. This process is currently manual and dependent on several different departments. It results in a time consuming process which is prone to human errors. The purpose is to investigate how design automation can be used and implemented to automate and improve sections of the order-to-delivery process for customized products at an industrial manufacturing company. The objective is to develop a product configurator to automatically generate 3D models and documentation for production and sales support. The configurator succeeded in demonstrating the possible advantages of using design automation. It showed the possibility to reduce the construction department's workload and achieve faster time-to-offer for the sales department. Additionally it is concluded that using a product configurator reduces the risk of human errors and opens up possibilities for other improvements, such as reducing material waste in the production.

In the rapidly evolving world of e-commerce, businesses are increasingly adopting the idea of providing customers with the ability to visualise and customise products in 3D through a 3D product configurator. However, the creation of 3D configurators is a complex and time-consuming process, requiring technical expertise and extensive communication between businesses and solution providers. This thesis aims to address these challenges by proposing a design for a user-focused approach to streamline the process of creating 3D product configurators. The study undertakes a thorough examination of existing platforms' 3D configurator creation processes to inform the design of an improved solution.To assess the effectiveness of our proposed design, we identified some key requirements and proceeded to develop a prototype. Testing was conducted, involving the attempt to recreate benchmark configurators with different levels of complexity. Through this process, we assessed the quality and efficiency of our platform in comparison to solutions developed partially or from scratch. Our results demonstrated that a user-focused platform for creating 3D product configurators, can offer extensive time and resource-saving. However, further research and development are necessary to fully explore the scalability, integration possibilities, industry-specific effectiveness, and customer impact of such platforms.

<p>Atlas Copco Tools & Assembly Systems (ACTA) is world leader in industrial tools and assembly systems for safety-critical joints. One of the products the company sells is fixtured nutrunners, mainly to the motor vehicle industry. The margins on these highly customized products have been decreasing – much depending on changes in the purchasing behavior of the automotive industry.</p><p>Traditionally, the marketing of the fixtured nutrunners has been concentrated to the parts of the product instead of the final product. Today, there is a belief within the organization that many of the sold customized products could be replaced by more standardized applications. There is also a wish to turn the focus of the market offer from the parts towards the final application. These beliefs and wishes resulted in this thesis, with the purpose to propose a new market offer to increase profitability and give more customer benefits.</p><p>To reach this purpose we started out with theoretical studies of several different areas. Among those was mass customization, a strategy that combines the benefits of mass production with those of customization. We also performed a prestudy at the headquarters of ACTA in Sickla and visited major customers in Sweden. Using our collected knowledge from the theoretical studies and the prestudy, we conducted an in-depth case study by interviewing customers and people working at ACTA, both in Sweden and in the USA, in order to analyze today’s situation. In the analysis, we found several problems with today’s offer. For instance, we found that similar products are solved with unique solutions, which has lead to poor cost control and has made it difficult for ACTA to assure the quality of the ordered products. A further problem is the poor sales support and the lack of traceability of sold systems, which reduces sales and leads to unnecessary special solutions. A problem linked to that is the difficulties in getting accurate and sufficient information from the customer, which leads to extra errors and a lot of extra work.</p><p>To solve these problems, we recommend ACTA to implement a mass customization strategy. Of course, not all of ACTA’s products can be mass customized, but to a large extent it should be possible. To implement a mass customization strategy, we argue that ACTA should take three measures, namely design standard products, modularize the products, and implement a computerized configuration tool. We also suggest that the implementation of the new market offer should be done stepwise. With the proposed new market offer, we believe that ACTA can increase profitability in the area of fixtured nutrunners without losing the flexibility of the products.</p>
