GÊNESE E DESENVOLVIMENTO DOS SABERES PEDAGÓGICO-TECNOLÓGICOS NA DOCÊNCIA EM ARQUIVOLOGIA (UFSM) FRENTE À CONVERGÊNCIA DIGITAL / GENESIS AND DEVELOPMENT OF PEDAGOGICAL-TECHNOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGES IN TEACHING ARCHIVAL SCIENCE (UFSM) FACING DIGITAL CONVERGENCE

Barbiero, Danilo Ribas 29 June 2015 (has links)
This scientific research, conducted in the context of "Training, knowledge and professional development" Research Line, at the Doctorate Course on Education at the Graduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), continues and extends the previous master research named "Between the Classroom and the Virtual: Movement Towards New Knowledge of higher education teaching" (BARBIERO, 2013). The study is the identification of two new knowledge of higher education: one is related to educational possibilities on the web, and the other is related to the use/integration of ICT on teaching-learning process; named as pedagogical-technological knowledge (PTK). We devise the thesis that the PTK, having its origin in the initial formation of the university professor and developed in classroom teaching, is improved on virtual teaching. The objective oj this research is to investigate the genesis and development of PTK of teachers in Archival Science (UFSM), with reference to digital culture and technological convergence. The specific objectives of the study are: mapping the configuration of PTK genisis in Archival Science (UFSM), bringing it close to ICT and the web; to characterize the configuration of PTK in Archival Science (UFSM) before virtual teaching, and to analyze the possible repercussion of virtual teaching in the [re] configuration of PTK in Archival Science (UFSM). On literature review we expanded the current knowledge of the subjec of that dissertation; deepening concepts as teacher training, teaching choreography, teaching in higher education, and studies related to contemporary sociodigital context. In this one, we approached digital culture and technological convergence, and studies on reflective collective intelligence. We have used a qualitative approach of a case study,in which, the starting point was the corpus consisting of oral interviews with teachers at the Documentation Department of UFSM, those who teach at Graduate Course in Archival Science (UFSM,) and at the Post-Graduate Course in Record Management (UAB/UFSM). The corpus received a new treatment of information, with the help of webQDA software and analytical improvement by discursive textual analysis. In the chapter of research findings, we have discussed the genesis and development of PTK in university education, in professional activities of classroom teaching, and virtual teaching. We also approached the development of Digital Technology Impermanence as characteristic of PTK in virtual teaching.

Interaktivt Innehåll och Konvergenskultur : En diskursiv fallstudie av Black Mirror: Bandersnatch / Interactive Content and Convergence Culture

Tunney, Ruth January 2019 (has links)
As illustrated by the Netflix special Bandersnatch as a cultural phenomenon, the purpose of this study was to analyze how "new" storytelling forms exist in today's convergence culture. This was done by a discursive case study about TV-critics' reception of Bandersnatch, along with smaller comparative discourses covering both relatively traditional film and TV organizations within the media industry, as well as an online forum. Therefore, it was demonstrated how the convergence culture expanded the expression of interactive content. Themes inspired by the reviews included the categorization of Bandersnatch as a media product. The technological aspects of interactive elements were furthermore used in the analysis of the result. Moreover, this was discussed in relation to theories of design and convergence culture. Finally, the results of the study indicated that Netflix's Bandersnatch was compared to both analogue and digital media products. The film's technological aspects were considered to detract from the storytelling experience of a movie, but rather it generated the type of entertainment found in a video game. An insecurity of the future of film as an artform and a dilution of traditional ownership roles also emerged, as the viewer's control continued to be discussed, not only in relation to Bandersnatch, but also to the overall interactive and participatory digital media landscape.

Emocionalita fanouškovské komunity seriálu Hra o trůny v éře konvergentní kultury / Emotionality of the Game of Thrones Fandom in the Era of Convergence Culture

Holá, Markéta January 2020 (has links)
This master's thesis deals with the topic of emotionality of the Game of Thrones fandom in the era of convergence culture. Game of Thrones, which had been on air since 2011 to 2019, became a hit show which gained millions of supporters and each new season was highly anticipated among public. During the course of all eight seasons, the show caused numerous heated controversies. Final season left both viewers and critics torn. This master's thesis is therefore interested in detecting and describing emotions of the Game of Thrones fan community during the time that the final season had been on air. Apart from emotionality, emphasis is also put on the characteristics of the show and its fandom. Reasearch was carried out online via the method of participant observation in six comments sections on the fan website Watchers on the Wall.com. Insomuch as fandom is connected to convergence culture, media convergence and audience participation, these topics are also covered. The term fandom is defined and the difference between audience and fandom is described. Last but not least, terms such as collective intelligence and knowledge community, which are also associated with fandom, are defined as well. All findings and the answers to research questions are then presented in the summary.

"Hela inlandet ligger ju i medieskugga" : Vilhelminabors upplevelser av lokaljournalistik / "Almost the entire county is being left outside" : Inhabitants of Vilhelmina talks about local journalism

Olofsson, Lina January 2015 (has links)
In the light of the problems the media industry are struggling with, local news reporting is only one of the challenges the news organizations are facing. When local editors is being moved to the cities the tie with the local community is being severed. The aim of this study has been to analyze how the inhabitants of Vilhelmina municipality talks about their experiences of local journalism. With methodological inspiration from the Critical discourse analysis (CDA) this study examined the discourses of local journalism, social media, journalism's role and municipal policy. The theorectical framework consisted theories of media and democracy, convergence culture and discourse theory. The survey was conducted with four focus groups interviews. The focus groups were divided in different cathegories based on the participants experiences, ages and employment. The groups consisted of politicians, senior citizens, municipal employees and younger students. Results showed that some of the groups put high value in physical presence and that the absence of local editors were seen as a problem. The importance of local journalism were unmistakable and the groups talked about local journalism in similar ways. Different opinions mostly occured when it came to discourses about the importance and effects of social media. Another discourse that were identified were the discourse about the political climate in Vilhelmina. The changing media landscape were seen as one of the main factors when it came to conflicts and misunderstandings that have characterized the debate in the last years. In summary, a changed media landscape can not only be seen as a threat. In fact, in small municipalities like Vilhelmina, technological developments might be one of the solutions when it comes to maintain local journalism. The biggest problem is rather the lack of investigative journalism that occur when local editors is disappearing.

You are what you buy : A critical discourse analysis of IKEAs series Vad gafflar ni om?

Doverby, Elin, Olsson, Malin January 2016 (has links)
Our modern society is based on a culture of consumption, where individuals are in an on- going search for self-realization through consumption. But in a society with buzz a of commercials and information, a society where media users are getting more critical towards commercialized messages it’s harder for companies to be heard. To be heard, companies need to create messages that their customers choose to listen to. Content marketing is a marketing strategy that aims to do just that. The purpose with this study is to get a deeper understanding of content marketing as a phenomenon within a consumption society by studying IKEAs series Vad gafflar ni om?. The study has a starting point in Bauman’s theories about consumption life, Giddens theories about the reflexive self, Jenkins theories about convergence culture and Faircloughs critical discourse analysis. The critical discourse analysis was made through Faircloughs three-dimensional conception of discourse, which is a model consisting a linguistic analysis of the text, the discourse practise and the social practice. To get a deeper insight in the reception of the text, qualitative interviews with text consumers where also made. The result of the analysis showed that different types of identities and norms where presented by IKEA in the series, which all could be achieved through consumption. The text consumer is most likely influenced by the ideology consumerism, which can be why they agree with how IKEA present different identities. IKEA presents a narrow image of the typical swede, where that are presumed to be middle class and own their own house. A distinct promotion discourse could not be identified, although a consumption discourse was identified throughout the series. The text consumers felt that the content was mostly entertaining and educating, which could be the result of the non-exiting promotional discourse but also the use of an entertaining-genre. The text consumers were also positively disposed by the content that can be, in comparison to Grusells study, because they choose to see it by themselves.

Práticas de leitura literária, no ambiente escolar, em face da cultura da convergência / Literary reading practices, within the school environment, in the face of convergence culture

Melo, Uilma Matos dos Santos 29 November 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate how characteristics which are inherent to the convergence culture can promote literary reading. Thus, we intend to observe how the use of technology can complement and enrich the reading through practices that enable the joining of traditional and current media, reframing the reading habits among students. We propose participatory and intersemiotic reading activities using technological devices in order to encourage the taste for reading and the development of the competence skills of reading comprehension and narrative text production. In different moments of the research, we used two questionnaires to obtain qualitative data on the proposals made. In summary, we conclude that changes in reading practices in the classroom are vital, since cultural conversions cannot be dissociated from the educational transformation.

A description of the contemporary state of media culture from the viewpoint of practices of popular culture, their meaning making, and realized interactions in the context of contemporary drama serials

Peltola, Mikael January 2009 (has links)

Drawing from the theoretical foundations of the “critical theory” of the Frankfurt School and the media ethnographic “cultural studies” approach of the british Birmingham School, this study attempts to sketch out a media theoretical overview of the contemporary state of media culture. Using the term convergence culture as the foundation, this study offers a theoretical background to the two contemporary streams that are the significant and distinct tendencies of convergence culture: intermedial convergence, its contemporary state and historical tendencies that can be traced back using the past media theoretical approach of the Frankfurt School, and cultural convergence, its contemporary state and historical tendencies, which lineage in a media theoretical context can be traced back to the british ethographic “cultural studies” field. Using contemporary drama serials to identify and pinpoint these two stream, this study shows how intermedial convergence expresses itself today through media conglomeration in terms of branding, product placement and marketing as the result of the “completed” convergence between screen culture and popular music as the current defining state of commodity culture. Using the contemporary british drama serial Doctor Who I examine the processes of meaning making among members of the television series fan culture on the popular video content page youtube.com as expressions of cultural convergence.

This study argues how the skills and talents developed in the interaction with popular culture and in a process of interaction between fans and participants (collective intelligence and participatory culture), will have an impact on the institutionalized knowledge “from above” and in a collective process will seep over to other fields of expertise. The study also argues, as a consequence of convergence culture, that in the contemporary state of online practices, social networking and in our interactions with digital media content, a mandatory “presence” has been created where we today are defined more through our online selves and these practices, than the ones that used to define us in our “physical” lives: “The medium is no longer just the message, we are living in a state where there is only messages”.
