Kvinnors sexuella hälsa efter diagnostisering av cervixcancer : En litteraturöversikt / Women's sexual health after diagnosis of cervical cancer : A literature review

Ahlund, Angelica, Frank, Lovisa January 2017 (has links)
Background: Sexuality and sexual health are two concepts that belong together. Sexuality means proximity and contact while sexual health means that it is safe and secure to perform sexual activities. Cervix is a part of women's inner reproductive organs. Cervical cancer is globally seen as one of the most common forms of cancer amongst women where pain is a late symptom of cervical cancer. Mortality is higher in developing countries than industrialized countries. Human papillomavirus, HPV is the most common cause of cervical cancer, where surgery, cytostatic and radiation therapy are different types of treatment. Cytological changes do not always mean cancer. Getting a cancer message can induce emotional reactions such as anxiety, anger and concern. At different coping strategies; Active and passive, the woman can adapt to the new life situation. A cancer diagnosis can develop reactions that affect both the physical and the mental health. Aim: The purpose was to highlight women’s sexual health after diagnosis of cervical cancer. Method: This literature review was compiled by collecting material from previous research within a healthcare knowledge area. Ten scientific articles related to cervical cancer and sexuality are the basis for the outcome. The material was reviewed and analyzed according to Fribergs method and finally summarized into mainthemes and subthemes in a literature review. Results: The result is presented in three main themes; Physical aspects, Mental aspects, and Social aspects. The results showed that cervical cancer affected women’s sexuality and sexual health. Positive experiences expressed by the women were an increased estimation on sexual activity after the disease. While negative experiences that were reported was a fear of performing sexual activities where dyspareunia was a cause. Sexual barriers affected the sexual function and created a concern among the women. The treatment of cervical cancer affected the woman through various bodily changes and discomfort during sexual intercourse.   Discussion: The physical changes that the woman experience is affecting her sexuality and identity. A need for knowledge about cervical cancer related to sexuality was noted in the women, where the nurse's responsibility is to provide women with this information. Virginia Henderson's behavior theory and the Cancer center care program may be a support for the nurse.

Renal Dysfunction and Cardiovascular Disease

Renal transplant dysfunction was a risk factor for mortality and for combined CVD endpoint. The risk by renal transplant dysfunction was independent of traditional CVD risk factors as well as transplantation-specific risk factors. CRP was related to lipid peroxidation, while EDV was related to intracellular antioxidative capacity measured by reduced glutathione levels.</p><p>These studies demonstrate that mild to moderate renal dysfunction is independently associated with increased CVD risk in apparently healthy people, as well as in renal transplant recipients. The mechanisms by which renal dysfunction increases CVD risk are yet to be elucidated. In stage 3-5 CKD patients, improving intracellular antioxidative capacity may result in endothelial function improvement.</p>

Anosognosia in Very Mild Alzheimer’s Disease but Not in Mild Cognitive Impairment

Kalbe, Elke, Salmon, Eric, Perani, Daniela, Holthoff, Vjera, Sorbi, Sandro, Elsner, A., Weisenbach, Simon, Brand, Matthias, Lenz, O., Kessler, Josef, Luedecke, S., Ortelli, P., Herholz, Karl 03 March 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Objective: To study awareness of cognitive dysfunction in patients with very mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods: A complaint interview covering 13 cognitive domains was administered to 82 AD and 79 MCI patients and their caregivers. The patient groups were comparable according to age and education, and Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores were ≥24 in all cases. The discrepancy between the patients’ and caregivers’ estimations of impairments was taken as a measure of anosognosia. Results: Self-reports of cognitive difficulties were comparable for AD and MCI patients. However, while in comparison to caregivers MCI patients reported significantly more cognitive impairment (p < 0.05), AD patients complained significantly less cognitive dysfunctions (p < 0.001). Conclusions: While most MCI patients tend to overestimate cognitive deficits when compared to their caregiver’s assessment, AD patients in early stages of disease underestimate cognitive dysfunctions. Anosognosia can thus be regarded as a characteristic symptom at a stage of very mild AD (MMSE ≥24) but not MCI. Accordingly, medical history even in mildly affected patients should always include information from both patient and caregiver. Kvantifiering av basala ganglier och parotiskörtlar i 11C PE2I-PET/DT : -Samband mellan dysfunktion av autonoma nervsystemet och kroppens körtlar / Quantification of basal ganglia and parotid glands in 11C PE2I-PET/CT : -Relationship between dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system and body glands

Mir Bazel, Seyedeh Hourieh January 2021 (has links)
Nyckelord: Neurodegenerativa sjukdomar, Autonom dysfunktion, 11CPE2I-PET/DT, parotiskörtlar, basala ganglier / ABSTRACT Background: At brain examination, there are also other structures outside the brain that are innervated by the nervous system. It is possible that the disease of the brain is reflected there as well. There are many diseases and conditions with similar symptoms and making the right diagnosis can be difficult. Many diseases affect the autonomic nervous system and one way to find the right diagnosis may be to investigate how it works.     Purpose: to see what variations in radioactivity uptake were found in the parotic glands between the patients depicted with the 11C-PE2I PET/CT. As well as being able to see how valuable this information is in being used to identify dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system (MRT- images are also an aids tool).   Method: The study design was a retrospective quantitative study. One hundred (consecutive) patients were divided in groups such as normal, Parkinson's, Parkinson's disease with combination of vascular changes and atypical Parkinson's disease. Isotope uptake in basal ganglia and parotic glands has been measured. Some patients' MRT images were available for quantification.     Result: the results show that the combined group of Parkinson's disease, atypical Parkinson's disease and vascular changes has an upregulation of the number of free dopamine receptors in parotid compared to healthy ones (also in PSP only and only vascular groups) with (p &lt;0.05).    Conclusion: There is variation of uptake between some of the groups thus the disease in the brain can be reflected in glands as well.     Keywords: Neurodegenerative Diseases, Autonomic Dysfunction, 11CPE2I-PET/CT, Parotid Glands, Basal Ganglia
