Kassar, Martin January 2022 (has links)
The guidelines for accessibility are many and it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. Therefore, test tools for evaluation are available to help developers identify accessibility problems. This study has aimed to investigate how useful one of these test tools is for developersand what strengths and weaknesses comes with such a tool. Five professional developers and five web development students performed a usability teston a selected accessibility test tool (Lighthouse). The result indicates that the test tool has high usability with strengths such userfriendliness, provides clear feedback of test results and can teach the user more about accessibility. The results also showed weaknesses in that the test tool did not find all the accessibility problems and it is unclear which criterias are being tested. The results of the study indicate that there are test tools that are useful for developers and students. The test tool can also make the user expand their knowledge regarding accessibility. Introducing the test tool to developers and students can contribute to more people thinking about accessibility in development. This can hopefully in turn lead to more web acessibility.

Experimental Analysis of Finish Turning of Inconel 617

Lai, Rachel January 2023 (has links)
Inconel 617 is a nickel-based superalloy whose properties include corrosion and oxidation resistance in high temperature environments. Due to their material properties, Inconel alloys are commonly used in aerospace applications where resistance to high pressure and temperature is required. These properties also cause the material to be hard to machine due to high temperatures in the cutting zone and its tendency to work harden. This paper focuses on improving the surface integrity and tool life for turning of Inconel 617 for use in next-generation nuclear applications. Various machining parameters are tested to improve the finish and tool life such as the feed rate, cutting speed, and depth of cut. While the machining of popular Inconel grades, such as Inconel 718, have been highly studied and understood, Inconel 617 lacks the knowledge base and research to define how the alloy behaves in machining and how it compares to other grades. Tests on tool coatings confirmed that commercially available coatings are durable enough to withstand the machining of this superalloy in finish turning and determined that AlTiN coatings provide the longest tool life. The investigations performed uncovered the relationship between cutting parameters and their influence on the surface integrity and tool life. MQL deposition was tested and found to be comparable and at times better than conventional flood coolant and may be considered a replacement for coolant after more improvement. This work details the knowledge and experimental procedure used to understand the machining of this superalloy. / Thesis / Master of Applied Science (MASc) / The purpose of this research is to develop an understanding of the machining of Inconel 617 for next-generation nuclear reactors. Canada’s plan to phase out coal-fired plants and deploy new nuclear reactors is contingent on being able to manufacture the necessary components. Inconel 617 is slated to be used in these high temperature, corrosive environments due to its high strength in elevated temperatures and its resistance to corrosion. However, since the material is a recent addition to the list of compatible materials, not much research has been performed on the manufacturing of this superalloy. Factors like cutting speed, coolant, and tooling were investigated and understood with the aim of improving the cost and time associated with manufacturing these nuclear grade components.

The Advent of ChatGPT and its Technological Integration in Education / ChatGPTs ankomst och dess teknologiska integrationen inom utbildning

Brkic, Denial, Johansson, Ioana-Raluca January 2024 (has links)
Our study investigates the possibility of integrating ChatGPT, an AI text generative tool, as a didactic supporting tool within the Swedish upper-secondary school curricula. Particularly, it takes interest in the English foreign language teaching context and examines eight peer reviewed articles on the matter. The questions it aims to answer are: In light of existing research, 1) what are some of the implications of integrating ChatGPT as a didactic supporting tool in Sweden’s English as a Foreign Language (EFL) upper-secondary classroom and 2) how could this tool be incorporated successfully into the teaching process? In the results, the synthesis identifies ethical concerns, teacher beliefs and perspectives, and pros and cons of integration as the three primary themes and shows how 75% of the articles are concerned with the ethical implications of ChatGPT, hence requesting ethical frameworks and guidelines. Additionally, it identifies teachers' beliefs and attitudes on integration of AI as the biggest influencing factor on the integration of ChatGPT and that the dominant benefits of integration of ChatGPT are in student accessibility and reduced workload for teachers. Conversely, the concerns include those of unethical nature such as cheating, plagiarizing, and information security and accuracy. The discussion suggests that ChatGPT, as a didactic tool, is supported by the Swedish upper-secondary curricula. However, additional efforts are needed to ensure its safe and effective integration. The study concludes that ChatGPT, and other AI generative tools, could be implemented in the curricula, but before this is accomplished we require policies, guidelines, and ethical frameworks to ensure it can be done safely and effectively.

Turning of tool steel : Study on the effect of insert grade and entering angle on tool life

Kartha, Aravind, Subramanian, Shravan January 2020 (has links)
PrimeTurning™ is a new turning technology, which consists of tools and programming method. By using this method, it has been demonstrated that higher material removal rates and flexibility in turning can be obtained.  The New Product Industrialisation department at AB Sandvik Coromant works with development of production processes and improvements in current processes.Machining tests are carried out in order to improve production performance, and find optimised solutions.  In this master thesis work, the effect of insert grades and entering angles on wear and tool life while machining hardened tool steel has been studied. Machining experiments have been carried out to analyse wear and tool life by using the PrimeTurning™ method. Two approaches of experimental design have been investigated, and a suitable design is selected for conducting the experiments.  The performance of these insert grades and tool holders (κ=21° and κ=25°) has been compared to each other and the existing production scenario, and a recommendation is made regarding insert grade, tool holder and cutting parameter selection for machining hardened tool steel using PrimeTurning™. The wear analysis has been performed by using a stereo microscope coupled with an image processing software to measure the flank wear length. Flank wear, flaking and chipping have been observed as the major wear types.  As a result, it has been identified that the insert grade GXXC, coupled with the tailor-made tool holder performs significantly better than the currently used insert and tool holder in production. A substantial increase in tool life increase is observed, even when machining at a higher Material Removal Rate of 29%. This would result in a significant increase productivity, if the results can be reproduced in production.

Identification of Academic Program Strengths and Weaknesses through Use of a Prototype Systematic Tool

Yilmaz, Harun 25 April 2007 (has links)
Because of the rapid development of the use of computers in education, as well as the introduction of the World Wide Web (WWW), a growing number of web-based educational applications/tools have been developed and implemented to help both educators and administrators in the field of education. In order to assist program directors and faculty members in determining whether or not there is a gap between the current situation of the program and the desired situation of the program and whether or not program objectives meet accreditation standards, there is a need for a tool that works effectively and efficiently. However, literature review showed that there is no automated tool specifically used for determining strengths and weaknesses of an academic program, and there is a lack of research in this area. In Chapter 1, the author's intent is to discuss the purpose behind this developmental research and to provide a literature review that serves as the basis for the design of such an automated tool. This review investigates the following issues: objectives related to programs and courses, taxonomies of educational objectives, curriculum evaluation, accreditation and standards, automated tools, and a brief collaborative create-adapt-generalize model. Chapter 2 discusses the design and development of the automated tool as well as methodology focusing on the instructional design model and its steps. Chapter 3 presents the results of the expert review process and possible solutions for the problems identified during the expert review process. Also the Appendices include the documentation used during the expert review process. / Ph. D.
