Expressão coletiva e gênero textual nos cadernos de Juca Teles do Sertão das Cotias: por um estatuto do gênero diário / Collective expression and textual gender at Juca Teles notebooks: the standard of the diary genreNathalia Reis Fernandes 22 August 2017 (has links)
This thesis explores the content of the so-called Juca Teles diaries. Juca Teles was a folkloric character from São Luiz do Paraitinga (São Paulo State, Brazil), and his notebooks have specific details that dont follow the expected lines in a personal diary. The diaries contain work notes, a description of some city events and poetry together, as a kaleidoscope of people and facts, apparently chaotic and without logic. We say apparently, because the notebooks are in good state, the handwriting is clear and there is almost not a single erasure in them. The study focuses in only one of the various notebooks, intending to analyse if this kaleidoscope could be a single unite, nonetheless its apparent fragmentation. It will also aim to prove this corpus consists in a collective writing, containing the citys memoir, as there are little personal references to Juca Teles and too much emphasis on day-to-day life and lists of people. Also, it will try to prove if this corpus is a real diary. If we can prove that this corpus is really a diary, we will define this gender, due to the lack of studies regarding the subject. We will develop this study with resources from Bakhtin\'s theory, modern psychology (which can be combined with Bakhtinian theory, as it will be proven later) and pre-existent theory on diaries. Also, we will edit the notebooks content, to verify the authors style and to have a closer contact with characters and facts that are inside the diary.

Lendas Capixabas (2000) for solo guitar, by Brazilian composer Carlos Cruz (1936-2011), consists of three movements that represent legends from the state of Espírito Santo: Juparanã, O Frade e a Freira and Itabira. This work presents sometimes a non-idiomatic writing for the instrument, since Cruz did not play the guitar. In order to solve these passages and the inconsistencies of the only edition of this work, we aimed the development of a critical-interpretative edition of Lendas Capixabas, from the comparison between sources, the resolution of non-idiomatic passages and the fingering proposition. Moreover, to do this, we have identified the manuscripts in the composer's scores collection, conducted a bibliographical research on musical editions, interviewed performers who have performed the work, and collected other guitarists’ proposals in some excerpts of the work. As a result, we developed a critical-interpretative edition grounded on all the aforementioned parameters.

Stefan Zweig, médiateur culturel dans les relations littéraires franco‐allemandes et franco‐autrichiennes / Stefan Zweig, cultural mediator in the French-German and French-Austrian literary relationshipsRajaoson, Bakovelo 04 October 2010 (has links)
This monograph is focused on the role as cultural mediator of the Jewish Austrian writer Stefan Zweig (1881-1942) and takes an approach based on the "cultural transfers" theory. His varied identities led him to assume a mediating position among the French literary intellectuals essentially Emile Verhaeren (1855-1916) and Romain Rolland (1866-1944). In order to succeed in this mission as mediator, he created a successful literary network strategy. A Zweig's dynamic took place including correspondences, translations, prefaces, conferences and promoting in this way an intensive French-German dialog or rather a European cultural forum. His relationship to politics and Jewish movements is ambivalent and questionable essentially during the Nazism period.

Book Illustrated, artistic book, dialogue book, painter's book so many designations when, in literary works, picture is combined with poetry. But most of the time, those pictures can be found in children books then regarded as poetry ones. How is this relation between poetry and art (painting, drawing, photography, Pastel drawing…) built in books for young readers? What readings of these books school teachers might set up today in their class? These two questions are our concern. At first, our work concerns books themselves published between 1995 and 2012. After exploring how literature criticism and research, as well as didactic and pedagogy have studied poetry for children, we will set a typology up of a new literary genre we call “ Illustrated book of poems”. Therefore, we will study relations between poems and pictures in these books. No doubt didactic issues will arise from this first thought. At first, how teachers use these dual books? Which skills of readings text and pictures does this new literary genre develop and thanks to these books, which relationship to poetry and art can a teacher help his pupils build? This part of our work is a qualitative type research in didactics of literature based on a description of teachers' speeches, pedagogy practices analysis and subjective readings set-up tested in professional teachers training. Thus, our general concern about illustrated poem(s) book is leading us from production to reception by critical and learned readers, as well as by less experimented ones.

The overture to George Frederick Bristow's Rip Van Winkle: a critical editionHorel, Kira Lynn 01 May 2012 (has links)
This dissertation centers on creating a new critical edition of the Rip Van Winkle overture. One of America's earliest opera composers, George Frederick Bristow (1825-1898), completed the opera Rip Van Winkle in 1855. When he revised it twenty-five years later in 1880, the composer omitted the original overture which was then thought to be lost. A concert version of this overture exists today only in manuscript form, located at the New York Public Library. Rip Van Winkle is significant to the history of American Music because it is one of the earliest operas composed by an American, and the first to be written on American subject matter (in this case, Washington Irving's story of the same name). Adding to the work's considerable historical significance is that the overture was one of the first American pieces performed by the New York Philharmonic Society, in which Bristow was a violinist. There is currently no scholarly edition of the overture, and thus this edition will fill a significant gap in the understanding of nineteenth-century American music. This critical edition of the overture to George Frederick Bristow's Rip Van Winkle was created in order to be published and available for performance and study, shedding light on the often under-represented American opera in the United States.

"Wir haben ein Gedicht im Kopf:" Ernst Jandl and Friederike Mayröcker in conversationSaucier, Jillian 27 November 2018 (has links)
Please note: this work is permanently embargoed in OpenBU. No public access is forecasted for these. To request private access, please click on the lock icon and filled out the appropriate web form. / The meeting of poets Friederike Mayröcker and Ernst Jandl in 1954 changed the course of their own lives as well as post-war German-language poetry in Vienna, in Austria, and in Europe. This selected critical edition charts their creative processes from April 1954 through April 1957, which spans Mayröcker’s composition and editing of the core of her first poetry collection, and Jandl’s decisive turn away from a narrative into a visual and aural poetic structure. The poems included were critical to the foundational work of their seminal collections of 1966, and to the growth of the distinctive writing styles that would later bring each international renown. This dissertation presents the first known genetic editorial work on these poems, written as they were negotiating the development of their relationship and recommitting themselves to their lives and practices as artists. Illustrating their experimentation, their linguistic inventiveness, and their revision processes, as well as evidencing each poet’s evolution in style, this edition shows each poet’s synthesis and stylistic development surrounded by patterns and mysteries. Both Jandl and Mayröcker demonstrate specific types of manuscript or typescript variants that distinguish their composition and revision styles. In addition to the catalogues of these variants, correspondence and other paratextual material by both poets place their revisions in historical, anecdotal, and creative research contexts. Presenting their typescripts, manuscripts, and letters shows the relevance of extant archival material, and of Jandl and Mayröcker’s revision processes, to their poetry. Each poem is accompanied by my English-language translation, and by a catalogue of variants when available. / 2031-01-01T00:00:00Z

The Stanford-Binet Scales : a comparison of Form L/M and the Fourth EditionHamer, Anne, n/a January 1990 (has links)
The Stanford-Binet: Fourth Edition represents a new dimension in intelligence testing
from the traditional Binet Scales. Based on a 3 level hierarchical model this represents a
significant departure from the age scale format of previous revisions. Several abbreviated
batteries are suggested. This study uses the "Quick Screening Battery" consisting of four
subtests (Vocabulary, Quantitative, Pattern Analysis, and Bead Memory). Results are
presented as Standard Age scores (SAS) for fifteen subtests in four Areas (Verbal Reasoning,
Quantitative Reasoning, Abstract/Visual Reasoning and Short-term Memory), and
the global 'g' Test Composite score. Thirty kindergarten children randomly assigned to
two groups took both the Stanford-Binet: Fourth Edition and the Stanford-Binet: Form
L/M in a counter balanced design. Nine hypotheses and one question are discussed. Statistical
calculations for data analysis were arrived at through SPSSX/PC V2.0 (Noursis
1988). Correlations between Form L/M IQ and the Test Composite (r = .72), Verbal
Reasoning (r = .71) and Abstract/Visual Reasoning (r = .41) reached significance at
0.05 or better. Other correlations showed similar trends as that found in the literature.
The study gives promise for the "Quick Screening Battery" as a tool for screening young
children.
