No. of bitstreams: 1 Alessandro De Almeida Vieira.pdf: 1389465 bytes, checksum: 20afe67b9ffeb8ace28c54df50377f5e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-05-12 / Year after year, the kind of market where universities function has been showing an increase in competition and creating specific needs of innovation in educational management area. Researches indicate that the educational management of the universities differs from the organizational management which is conceptualized and taught to their students. The elements considered to reach this conclusion are the administrative complexity of these institutions and the diversity of actors or stakeholders in the decision-making process. Signaling from national agencies for educational control and monitoring, including the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination - CAPES, responsible for evaluating Brazilian post-graduation, indicates the need for monitoring the students of these programs. This fact indicates an opportunity for innovation and differentiation in the educational market, related to administrative matters, in addition to human material capturing issues. Within this context, this study aims at answering the question “How can project management contribute to the development of a students and graduates association, from a post-graduate studies program, based on stakeholder management?”. The main objective of the study is to present a plan to develop a students and graduates association from a post-graduate studies program, based on project management and using stakeholders management. It aims at assisting in the development and growth of the association, using both the tools and concepts of project management. To answer this question and achieve the main goal, an applied research was conducted. The research was of descriptive and explanatory nature, using qualitative approach and action-research methodology. The results identified who are the stakeholders of such an association, as well as the point of view of its managers. Results also showed the contribution of a proper project management to leverage the development of the association, bringing benefits which are extensible to the higher education institution it represents.

Gifted & Talented Education: A Case for Policy Implementation

Melander, Åsa January 2009 (has links)
In Sweden, an egalitarian ethos has long rendered it impossible even to consider the needs of gifted and talented (G&T) children. By interviewing English and Swedish educators and Swedish governmental officials, I compare the developments in the two countries and make recommenda-tions as to how Sweden could improve its provision. Over the last ten years, following a House of Commons report in 1997, a number of measures have been implemented in England. In Sweden, some changes have taken place, notably the establishment of the focus classes [spetsutbildningar] in 2008. Although there is official support for G&T children and signs of changing attitudes in Sweden, there are still concerns about the general acceptance of G&T students' need for support and help. Their social situation is often difficult and they do not always get challenged. One recommendation is that Sweden, in line with many other countries, should investigate the option of setting a clear, national policy for gifted and talented children.

A History of "Especially For Youth" - 1976-1986

Bytheway, John 01 August 2003 (has links) (PDF)
The summer of 2002 marked the 26th anniversary of the youth camp “Especially for Youth” (EFY). Over 34,000 teenagers from across the United States, Canada and several foreign countries gathered on thirty-one different college campuses to attend one of the sixty-four sessions of the five-day program. Since the first session in 1976, Especially for Youth has enjoyed steady increases in attendance and popularity. Beginning in the early 1980s, the program's success reached the point that applicants were turned away because there was not enough space to house all those who wanted to attend.EFY is sponsored by Brigham Young University (BYU) Division of Continuing Education. Programs within the Division with a religious emphasis fall under the direction of the Church Educational System (CES).This thesis is an attempt to gather basic, historically significant information about the first eleven years of Especially for Youth (1976-1986). Primary sources include Continuing Education administrators, former counselors and participants, and Division of Continuing Education Annual Reports.

Pathway: A Gateway to Global Church Education

Peterson, Benjamin Charles 01 November 2016 (has links)
Education and learning have ever been at the core of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout its history that now extends nearly one hundred ninety years, the Church has made numerous attempts to provide educational opportunities for its members. Some attempts have failed, and others were met with some success—though limited, to be sure. In hindsight, most of these efforts were simply laying the foundation for something far greater. At the dawn of the twenty-first century, the groundwork for global Church education had been laid, and the seeds planted. Beginning with a pilot administered through BYU-Idaho, a program known as “Pathway” grew into a worldwide effort that is successfully providing educational opportunities to individuals distanced from such occasion. The Church-affiliated university also created a robust online program, that coupled with Pathway, was providing a largely affordable, yet high-quality education to Church members and even a few other individuals across the globe. Not without its barriers, Pathway and the BYU-Idaho online degree program worked to overcome legal and other limitations in order to create and expand a vigorous offering across cultures, time, and space. Recently, these programs have given root to what is now a global education initiative, collaborating a united effort from each institution affiliated with the Church Educational System.

The Integration of Children with Handicapping Conditions into the Mainstream of the Elementary School System

DiFrancesco, Philip J. January 1985 (has links)

This project discusses a major issue in the educational system of the Province of Ontario in the 1980' s. With the full implementation of Bill 82 in September of 1985, school boards across the province will be forced once again to determine how the needs of children with handicapping conditions ought best be met. Should they be mainstreamed with their chronological peers in neighbourhood schools or should they attend special schools where all ancillary services are provided? The purpose of this paper is to examine this integration/segregation debate. The first two chapters provide the reader with a historical overview of the issue as well as with a description and critical analysis of the early efficacy studies that have been used as justification for the choice of one type of administrative arrangement over another. Chapter three outlines more contemporary arguments and research in support of the mainstreaming position. It also describes the philosophy, strategies and tec110iques of a local school board that has been mainstreaming children with handicapping conditions since the late 1960's. The final chapter outlines two evaluative techniques that can be used to asses the effectiveness of integration segregation as educational models. Further, a proposal for future research is described in which both of these evaluative techniques would be employed.
/ Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

Pour l’enseignement du français et des « langues nationales » à Djibouti : conditions pour une didactique intégrée dans l’enseignement des langues / For teaching in french and in « nationals languages » in Djibouti : conditions for/to an integrated didactic in languages teaching

Abdourahman, Houssein 15 December 2010 (has links)
This brainwork is a reflection about using french language in schools in Djibouti. Faced with overcrowded classrooms and the general decline in the level of french language in early elementary school, it was necessary to review the condition of french teaching in the republic of Djibouti to improve the performance of the educational system. To improve mastery of French language in school and to contribute to success, it should be necessary to take into the djiboutians nationals languages. Through these it is more efficient to transmit the basic elementary curriculum (at least for the early year) without neglecting French language instruction. Thus, the learner, by working back and forth meta-linguistically (unconsciously and consciously), can compare the two languages, make positive transfer by cross-linguistic influence and avoid interference with the source language in learning french. The bilingual students perform better in classroom content and also develop strategies for learning languages.

Profesní autonomie učitelů a ředitelů škol v současné Číně / Autonomy of directors and teachers in the current Chinese educational system

Wagenknechtová, Radana January 2015 (has links)
Autonomy of directors and teachers in the current Chinese educational system Mgr. Radana Wagenknechtová 2015 ABSTRACT This thesis looks at the Chinese educational system and the autonomy that directors and teachers share in the decision making process. It not only examines the educational system as a whole but analyses different levels of the educational system, puts an emphasis on the autonomy of teachers and directors in a school environment, and introduces various school reforms in China since 1976. Consequently, it clarifies the current Chinese educational system with an emphasis on various organizational levels along with the power they have in the decision making process and the options for creating change. Through the study of key documents of the Chinese educational system, political system, and other foreign literature, the legislative processes and documents that are responsible for the Chinese educational policies are made apparent. The thesis compares the official Chinese educational system's documents and processes with the actual situation. Based on this research, the thesis determines the real level of autonomy that directors and teachers possess in the decision making process.
