Les femmes artistes d'origine miao, mongole et ouïgoure dans le champ artistique chinois 1950-2010 / Female artists of Miao, Mongolian and Uyghur origin in the Chinese artistic field 1950-2010Zhang, Naiyong 28 June 2019 (has links)
This thesis is devoted to studying the evolution of the place of female artists with Miao, Mongolian and Uygur origins in the Chinese artistic field 1950-2010. The central theme is to demonstrate how social changes have changed the place of women, and more specifically, how the place of women has been redefined in an identity discourse. If in the years 1960-1980, the art works dealing with the collectivist ideology and the representation of the ‘iron woman’ occupied a primordial place, in the years 1981-2000, the female artists describe the real situation of the women and put the focus on the question of the identity of modern women and the relations between women and men. They seek to master the different forms of ethnic artistic expression. Since 2001, in order to preserve ethnic cultures facing the globalization, the female artists are trying to interpret the depth of ethnic culture in their art works. It is towards traditions, such as historical memory, mythologies, songs and dances, that the female artists with ethnic minority origins are looking for their cultural roots. This research is based at the same time on the analysis of the socio-cultural situation of female artists with minority origins, the analysis of the construction of the feminine identity and the analysis of the particularities of the expression of female artists because of their ethnicity.

Tingatinga: kooperativ nebo rodina? / Tingatinga: cooperative or family?Lhotová, Zuzana January 2011 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis are the tingatinga painters in Tangatinga Arts Cooperative Society in Tanzania. The tingatinga art is based on the motive of the African nature and on the lives of the people in Tanzania. These painters accept both the rules of the cooperative as well as the hierarchy of a family, because this organization is based primarily on the family interconnections. The goal of the thesis is to find which institution type is the dominant one and the principles of how cooperative operates. The relationship with the founder of this art style is also interesting. The thesis is based on the anthropology of tourism because it deals with a touristic art. Some of the approaches can be applied to the study of tingatinga painters but some of them are in contrast. Another question is whether the relation between the painters and the tourists is influenced by the process of acculturation. The art and the painters are influenced with the commercialization process and this thesis tries to capture this dynamic process and the influence of tourists on its creating.

Exotický artefakt. Studie předmětu ze čtvrtého světa v české kultuře / An Exotic Artefact. Study of the position of an object from Fourth World in the Czech CultureŠtěpánová, Kateřina January 2013 (has links)
PhDr. Kateřina Štěpánová, MA Abstrakt disertační práce, 2013 An Exotic Artefact Study of the position of an object from Fourth World in the Czech culture Abstract This thesis deals with the anthropological and museological approach to the presentation of exotic artefacts in the Western culture. It responds to the absence of theoretical studies and papers on the possibilities of perception and presentation of these objects in the Czech Republic. In principle, it is mainly inspired by foreign literature and author's own experience with Western expositions. Thesis contains a theoretical and an empirical part. The subject of the first part is the analysis of key approaches to the non-European ethnographic objects, their potential and different possibilities of their public presentation. Main attention is focused on key topics of anthropology of art frequently discussed by the international scientific community. Methodologically, this part presents the analysis, and the interpretation of primary and secondary literature. In the empirical part there are shown results of own effort to analyze the problem. The included application part describes realization of the particular program created on basis of museum-pedagogy. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the development of perception, and to the presentation...

panapanayan發祥地南北部落(太麻里、知本)傳統觀念與藝術表現之研究 / The origin of the Panapanayan Southern and Northern Tribes (Tai-ma-li and Zhi-ben)--study of the traditional conception and art expression. Lin, Chiaan Cherng Unknown Date (has links)
Panapanayan is located on the southeast coast of Taiwan. The ancestral origin
stories of at least four ethnic groups, including the Amis, Puyuma, Paiwan and Rukai,
can be traced back to this place. The many similar cultural phenomena demonstrated
by these various groups suggest the formation of a culture circle.
The relations between the cultural phenomena within this culture circle are not only
based on space, but also on time. The relations and interactions between them can be
traced back to prehistoric times. For example, snake tongue patterns seen on artifacts
like stone blades and pieces of pottery uncovered at the Jiuxianglan Site are still seen
in the patterns used by these ethnic groups to this day. The life-cycle rituals, tattooing
(described by the oral tradition and written records) and use of ceremonial glass beads
(used for both decretive purposes and buried with the deceased) found in the villages
of Taimali and Zhiben, which are at the center of this culture circle, represent local
values and beliefs about life and death. Many glass beads were also uncovered at the
Jiuxianglan Site. The number of similar cultural phenomena occurring within this
region from ancient times to present day is truly striking.
In addition, the tongue-like patterns and large carvings of human figures found in
this region (at the ancestral shrine in Taimali) have rarely been seen among the
wood-carving patterns of Taiwan’s aboriginal people. However, these patterns are
related to those found within Austronesian culture outside Taiwan. This finding
further highlights the uniqueness of the artistic expressions found in this area and
points to diverse ties with the widespread Austronesian peoples. As a result, the
artistic expressions found within the material culture in this area can be used to trace
social and cultural change. These artistic expressions can also help us to better
understand collective emotions and cultural identities.
With the emergence of modern national politics, the traditional life and culture of
this region have been strongly influenced by the onslaught of modernization.
However, the rise of the ethnic movement in Taiwan and the emphasis on cultural
heritage within political policy has inspired a new awakening of tribal consciousness.
By rebuilding Palakuwan and restoring traditional rituals, songs and artistic aesthetics,
the people in Taimali and Zhiben have begun to engage in the process of cultural
restoration. To rediscover their historical memory, various villages have worked
together by exchanging rituals, tracing their roots and creating alliances. The close
interactions between people living within the culture circle have led to the formation
of community within this region.
The social environment in Taimali and Zhiben has also been influenced by
globalization, commercialization and tourism. Artistic expression has graduallyshifted from a structured traditional style to more diverse forms of individualized
production. This transformation has greatly affected the transmission of local culture,
as well as the maintenance of tribal subjectivity. In order to promote consensus among
tribal members, concerned individuals have used the media to shape cultural
characteristics and strengthen tribal symbols. As a result, artistic expression once
again is playing an important role in shaping ethnic (tribal) identity.
By exploring material culture, in particular the process of producing and displaying
“art” (primitive art or ethnic art), this study investigates the relations between the
diverse artistic elements, historical tradition, social rituals and symbolic identity in
Panapanayan. The purpose of this study is to further understand the interaction
between artistic expression, tribal subjective consciousness and ethnic identity.

This space is an arena of dissimilarities and correlations, which result in interactions that incite unusual expectations. ‘Cultural hybridity’ is clearly mirrored within contemporary society. New methods and approaches are
required to comprehend the lived experiences of escalating displacement. This research traces the trajectory of migration, identity, self and other from the point of view of contemporary diasporic artists. Notions of ethnicity, authenticity, identity, transnationality, singularity and duality are debated against the backdrop of the creative practices of Anish Kapoor and Yinka Shonibare. Informed by Homi K.
Bhabha’s concept of the third space, and also theories of hermeneutic translation by Georg Gadamer and Paul Ricoeur, this dissertation creatively and critically investigates the ambiguities and ambivalences in this field of inquiry.
