[pt] Esta pesquisa procura esclarecer os princípios fundamentais que a Escola de Arquitetura e Design da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, vem trabalhando ao longo de sua trajetória, centrando-se nos conceitos de observação e ato de observação, entendidos estes como elementos fundamentais de um processo de transmissão de ferramentas disciplinares e, ao mesmo tempo, como elementos do processo formativo que esta escola propõe. A suposição que se formula nesta pesquisa é que subjacente a estes conceitos encontramos os componentes que permitem esclarecer as dimensões que conformam o ethos da escola, que se funda na relação estabelecida entre arquitetura e poesia, segundo a orientação artística por ela sustentada. Tratamos então de identificar aqueles elementos constitutivos do ethos que assim se evidencia, para então adentrarmos e elucidarmos o ethos que supomos subjacente, e que buscamos na produção discursiva da escola, na transmissão oral, nos textos fundamentais e especialmente no exercício de suas práticas, enfim naquilo que é próprio de seu processo formativo, e que possibilita revelar aqueles aspectos que para esta pesquisa permitem esclarecer um modo de relação entre a disciplina do design e o ethos que a anima. Relação essa, segundo se propõe aqui, fundada na práxis de um modo e ver a realidade, a observação, permeada por isso que chamamos aqui de um ethos subjacente, gerado nos efeitos que essa mesma práxis da observação suscita. Trata-se aqui portanto do tema da formação do Homem, digamos de uma ética humanista de formação, tema próprio da modernidade, que esta pesquisa propõe confrontar com uma perspectiva contemporânea, à luz de uma ética de formação de sujeitos. A questão que está em jogo aqui é a tentativa de elucidar em que medida este ethos, que supomos subjacente às práticas e aos discursos da escola, pode ser aproximado das considerações de Foucault a propósito do ethos grego formulado nos preceitos do cuidado de si, e em que medida este cuidado de si pode ser entendido como um elemento fundamental para a formulação do ethos que esta escola constrói. Esta busca de um modelo de formação próprio desenvolvido por essa escola se enraíza em uma genealogia de pistas filosóficas encontradas em seus fundamentos, tanto explícitos como não explicitados. Se esta escola se funda na busca de um olhar próprio (seu sentido de originalidade), desde o estabelecimento de uma linguagem para a formação de um olhar próprio do sujeito, como podemos conceber para ela um modo de formação que atenda às exigências acadêmicas contemporâneas para reencontrar o sentido de uma formação de sujeitos? E, desde esta perspectiva, o que seria então a observação? Porque supomos que o ato de observação propicia a transmissão do ethos desta escola? / [en] This research will try to clarify the fundamental principles that the School of Architecture and Design of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso, Chile, has worked throughout its development, focusing on the concepts of observation and observation, understood as fundamental elements of A process of transmission of disciplinary tools and at the same time, as elements of the formative process that this school proposes. The question at stake here is to elucidate the extent to which this supposedly underlying ethos corresponds to a look that approximates Foucault s proposal for the Greek ethos, since the e (ad) generates a clear Approach to the Greek way that Foucault points out as care of itself and this as a fundamental element for the conformation of the ethos that this school builds. This search for a model of own formation that this school develops, finds roots in a heap of philosophical foundations, for that reason, it is believed then, that one must attend to these foundations, both explicit and not explicit. If this school is founded on the search for its own look (its sense of originality), that is, from the establishment of a language for the formation of a look of the subject, how can we conceive a way of training that attends to the Contemporary needs to rediscover the meaning of a formation of subjects? And in this perspective, what then is the observation? And why do we suppose there is an act of observation that allows such transmission of the ethos of this school? / [es] Esta investigación tratará de clarificar los principios fundamentales que la escuela de Arquitectura y Diseño de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, ha trabajado a lo largo de su desarrollo, centrándose en los conceptos de observación y acto de observación entendidos estos como elementos fundamentales de un proceso de transmisión de herramientas disciplinares y a la vez, como elementos del proceso formativo que esta escuela propone. El supuesto que se desprende de esta investigación es que en estos conceptos subyacen los componentes que permiten esclarecer las dimensiones que conforman el ethos de la escuela, lo que suponemos tiene su fundamento en la relación arquitectura – poesía, orientación artística que esta escuela sostiene. Trataremos entonces de identificar aquellos elementos constituyentes del ethos que se evidencia, para desde allí adentrarnos y dilucidar el ethos que suponemos subyacente, que lo podemos suponer presente en los elementos discursivos que esta escuela despliega, siendo la transmisión oral, los textos fundamentales y en especial el ejercicio de sus prácticas, aquello que como propio de su proceso formativo, revelará o hará posible revelar aquellos aspectos que para esta investigación permitan clarificar un modo de relación entre disciplina del diseño y el ethos que la anima, la que se supone aquí, fundada en la praxis de un modo de ver “la realidad”, la observación y que queda ahora enfrentada a otra mirada, la que al decir de esta investigación llamamos como un ethos subyacente, generado desde ese mismo sentido que el ejercicio de la praxis de la observación provoca. Tratamos entonces el tema de la formación de Hombres, digamos de una ética humanista de formar hombres, tema propio de la modernidad, pero, que al parecer de esta investigación, se hace necesario discurrir con otra visión, ello para ponerla en cuestión con otra perspectiva contemporánea, digamos, a la luz de una ética para formar sujetos. La cuestión aquí en juego es dilucidar en qué medida este ethos supuesto como subyacente, corresponde a una mirada que se aproxima a la propuesta de Foucault a propósito del ethos griego, ello, por cuanto la e(ad) genera en su devenir, una clara aproximación al modo griego que Foucault señala como cuidado de si y este como un elemento fundamental para la conformación del ethos que esta escuela construye. Esta búsqueda de un modelo de formación propio que esta escuela desarrolla, encuentra raíces en un cumulo de fundamentaciones filosóficas, por ello, se cree entonces, que se debe atender a esos fundamentos, tanto explícitos como no explicitados. Si esta escuela se funda en la búsqueda de una propia mirada (su sentido de originalidad), es decir, desde el establecimiento de un lenguaje para la formación de una mirada propia del sujeto, ¿Cómo podemos concebir un modo de formación que atienda à las necesidades contemporáneas para reencontrar el sentido de una formación de sujetos? Y en esta perspectiva, ¿Qué es entonces la observación? y ¿Por qué suponemos existe un acto de observación que permite tal transmisión de del ethos de esta escuela?

La préface de romans québécois du XIXe siècle et ses discours

Le présent mémoire pose une série de questions quant à la nature et au propos du discours préfaciel dans les romans du XIXe siècle. Il remet en question sa nature, qui serait marquée par une propension généralisée au refoulement, à la négation du roman et du romancier. Il propose plutôt d’envisager la préface comme une tribune de choix pour différents acteurs du milieu littéraire. Le premier chapitre de ce mémoire montre comment les topoï propres au corpus étudié (l’attitude de modestie, le rejet du mauvais roman, l’attestation d’une véridicité et l’utilité du roman) guident certaines des préfaces de romans québécois, sans toutefois leur être exclusifs. Leur remise en contexte fait ainsi jaillir leurs fondements, généralement situés dans la pratique préfacielle hexagonale et britannique des XVIIe, XVIIIe et XIXe siècles. L’hypothèse d’un genre préfaciel transnational jaillit et apparaît ainsi fondée. Le second chapitre illustre comment le discours sur la fiction contenu dans la préface peut se montrer positif et laisser paraître un rapport à l’Histoire complexe, empreint de réalisme et de fictivité. L’étude de ce discours nous amène à le considérer comme une réfutation et une récupération des topoï préfaciels de l’époque. Un processus d’affirmation timide de la fiction s’enclenche donc et permet une pluralité de points de vue sur cet élément constitutif du genre romanesque. L’analyse des enjeux des ethè préfaciels auctoriaux et allographes, à laquelle est consacré le troisième chapitre, constitue le dernier temps de cette étude. Elle révèle que le contact direct entre le préfacier et le lecteur que permet le dispositif préfaciel engendre un travail de présentation de soi poursuivant divers objectifs, influencés majoritairement par la position qu’occupe le préfacier dans le champ littéraire. Tous les ethè étudiés illustrent la grande adaptabilité des préfaciers, qui établissent, par le biais de la préface, différents pactes de lecture favorisant un rapprochement entre l’auteur et son lectorat par l’adhésion à des valeurs communes et socialement valorisées. Notre étude montrera donc que la préface peut être comprise comme une prise de parole autant, sinon plus que comme un commentaire sur une parole déjà formulée. À la fois texte et paratexte, elle recèle une pluralité de discours parfois convergents, parfois divergents, qui ne peuvent être véritablement signifiants qu’à la lumière de leur analyse exhaustive.

SYFTE: Uppsatsens syfte är att kartlägga på vilket sätt Axfood kommunicerar sitt hållbarhetsarbete, i avseende att se hur Axfood upprätthåller tillit genom sin kommunikation. Tillit är en viktig komponent i företagsverksamheten och därför vill jag belysa hur olika stilistiska kompositioner både kan främja och hämma tilliten till ett företag. Studien fokuseras till Axfoods avsändarperspektiv med avsikt att strukturera upp och beskriva hur företaget kommunicerar sitt arbete med hållbarhet. TEORETISK RAM: Den teoretiska ramen bygger på hur tillit skapas genom kommunikation och utgår ifrån teorier om Corporate Social Responsibility, samt det retoriska begreppet ethos. METOD: Övergripande tematisering av materialet, samt en djupgående stilistisk analys av de delar i materialet som kommunicerar Axfoods hållbarhetsarbete. SLUTSATSER: Av Axfoods kommunikation är det hållbarhetsarbetet angående miljö som ges störst utrymme. Vidare går det att utläsa vissa stilistiska skillnader beroende på i vilken kommunikationskanal materialet återfinns, samt vilket hållbarhetsarbete som kommuniceras. Det här påverkar de olika tillvägagångssätten att skapa tillit.

A practical theological study of the preacher's ethos in Korean context

Lastly, it is argued that within the Korean context, the preacher’s “reasonable authority” should have the Word of God as its foundation. Chapter 5 demonstrates three key aspects of the preacher’s ethos by highlighting the following: firstly, three kinds of proofs for structural principles, i.e. persuasion by moral character (ethos); persuasion by putting the hearer into a certain emotional frame of mind (pathos); and persuasion by the speech itself, when the truth or apparent truth(logos) is established. Secondly, an important rule for the preacher’s ethos, namely that listeners must trust and feel connected with the speaker. Thirdly, the attitude of the audience as an important element that influences and even constructs the speaker’s character. Chapter 6 presents four key aspects of preaching in crisis as related to the preacher’s ethos by pointing out the following: firstly, preachers cannot be separated from their preaching. Secondly, a large part of preparation for preaching is the preachers’ own personal preparation–the impact from the pulpit is indeed tied to their own moral character and ethos. Thirdly, the most importance aspect of the preachers’ ethos in preaching is the danger of their possible inconsistent lifestyle .Preachers’ talk should be supported and balanced by their walk. Lastly, the key point of the preachers’ ethos related to their congregations is that, in their minds during reparation of the sermons, there should always be recognition of the reality of a listening audience. Chapter 7 focuses on ethos related to two areas: firstly, the development of the preachers’ ethos. Secondly, some suggestions for the development of their ethos concern five aspects, such as their vocation, spirituality, reading, prayer and “glory”. / AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die doel van hierdie studie is om die belangrikheid van predikers se etos in prediking uit te lig. Oor prediking bestaan daar baie hedendaagse kritiek. Die kwynende invloed van prediking word deur sommige aan die deur van die prediker se eie persoonlike etos gelê. Dus, wat beteken etos met betrekking tot die prediker? Hierdie vraag vorm deel van die kern van hierdie navorsing. Die verhouding tussen etos en prediking is duidelik van groot belang. Hoofstuk 2 ondersoek die basiese konsep van ‘n prediker met betrekking tot vyf sleutel aspekte: Eerstens, die definisie van “prediker” is dat hy/sy ‘n dienaar van die Woord en van God is. Tweedens, die betekenis van die prediker se roeping is soos dié van Jesus Christus en die uitgangspunt is dat die prediker woorde lei tot die gemeente se verlossing. Laastens het die navorser klem gelê op die belang van prediking met betrekking tot ses areas: die prediker, die gemeente, die kerk, aanbidding, die Christendom en die wêreld. Hoofstuk 3 ondersoek sekere voorlopige navorsing op huidige prediking in krisis. In ‘n sekere sin bejeën (post)moderne mense, soos sosiale wetenskaplikes, kommunikasie kundiges, teoloë en hulle in die kerkbanke, prediking met negatiwiteit. Elke groep het sy eie fokus van kritiek, maar wat dit ookal mag wees, hulle stem almal saam dat iets ernstigs verkeerd is met vandag se preke. Hoofstuk 4 ondersoek die algemene omstandighede van die kerk en prediking, asookdie prediker in die Koreaanse konteks, met die fokus op die volgende vier aspekte. Eerstens, die Koreaanse Kerk is een van die verstommende fenomene in die Christendom se onlangse geskiedenis. Ongelukkig het dié Kerk se groei inderdaad opgehou en het selfs ‘n agteruitgang getoon sedert die middel 90s. Tweedens, ‘n noukeurige studie van Koreaanse prediking het bewys dat hierdie teologiese instelling nie sterk is nie en dat ‘n vorm van bevooroordeelde eksegese van die Bybel tans versprei. Derdens, in die Koreaanse konteks het Koreaanse predikers buitensporige outoriteit; hulle is verantwoordelik vir vele aktiwiteite en ‘n redelike basis vir hul outoriteit is nodig. Laastens word geargumenteer dat, binne die Koreaanse konteks, die prediker se “redelike outoriteit” die Woord van God as basis moet behou. Hoofstuk 5 demonstreer drie sleutel aspekte van die prediker se etos deur die volgende uit te lig: eerstens, drie soorte strukturele rigsnoere, naamlik oorreding deur morele karakter (etos); oorreding deur die hoorder in ‘n sekere emosionele gemoedstoestand (patos) te plaas; en oorreding deur die toespraak self, wanneer die waarheid of oënskynlike waarheid (logos) bepaal is. Tweedens, ‘n belangrike reël vir die prediker se etos is dat luisteraars die spreker vertrou en aan hom/haar verbind voel. Derdens, houding as ‘n belangrike element wat gehorebeïnvloed om die spreker se karakter te beoordeel. Hoofstuk 6 bied vier sleutel aspekte van krisisprediking met betrekking tot die prediker se etos, naamlik: eerstens,predikers kan nie van hul prediking geskei word nie. Tweedens, ‘n groot deel van die voorbereiding vir prediking is die predikers se eie persoonlike voorbereiding –impak vanaf die kansel is inderdaad verbind aan hul eie morele karakter en etos. Derdens is die belangrikste aspek van die predikers se etos die gevaar van hul moontlike teenstrydige leefwyse. Predikers se woorde moet ondersteun en gebalanseer word deur hul optrede. Laastens, die sleutelpunt van die predikers se etos, wat betref hul gemeentes,is dat daar tydens die preekvoorbereiding ‘n voortdurende bewussyn van die realiteit van ‘n luisterende gehoor moet wees. Hoofstuk 7 fokus op twee areas: eerstens, die ontwikkeling van predikers se etos. Tweedens, ‘n paar voorstelle vir die ontwikkeling van hierdie etos met betrekking tot vyf aspekte, naamlik predikers se roeping, spiritualiteit, leeswerk, gebed en “heeklikheid”.

This thesis is a work of political philosophy. It aims to set out an egalitarian understanding of the promotion of social capital. The first chapter of the thesis is an introduction to social capital, and contains a normative criticism of contemporary social capital policy-making. A typology of theoretical approaches to social capital policies are outlined in the second chapter, including neoliberal constitutionalism, civic republicanism, and egalitarian pluralism. Of these approaches, egalitarian pluralism seems best able to promote social capital while balancing the competing values of freedom and equality. Sociala medier, och särskilt Facebook, skiljer sig mycket från de äldre medierna (tidningar, radio, TV etc.) då det är plattformar där “vanliga människor”, utan journalistisk skolning, har möjlighet att uttrycka sig inför stora publiker. Det sker en form av paradigmskifte i vad som anses retoriskt effektivt och därmed hur vi ska presentera oss själva. Jag ser att rollen en administratör tar på en Facebooksida skiljer sig mycket från rollen en journalist på en tidning får när de skriver. De presenterar sig på skilda sätt och Facebookadministratören håller sig i regel mer personlig och nära sina läsare. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur retoriska strategier för självpresentation, ethos och persona används idag inom Facebook som är ett relativt modernt medium. Det är en casestudy med den statliga myndigheten Livrustkammarens Facebooksida som exempel. Detta för att de skapat ett rykte kring sig om att vara roliga och effektiva i sin kommunikation.

"Still Here, Still Queer" and We Ain't Going Nowhere: A Qualitative Study of Community During a Second-wave of Activity

Are we witnessing the emergence of queer community? To answer this question, I interviewed self-identified queer people living in Atlanta, Georgia. During one-on-one and relational interviews, 31 participants reflected on how they understand and live queer, as well as socialize with other queers. An intention of this study is to advance theory; as such, this analysis inspected tenets asserted by “first wave” theoreticians and activists of the 1980s and 1990s. To test theory, I attend to queer as fluid, non-normative and diverse. The participants viewed their queerness in sexuality, gender, and political terms congruent with a first-wave framework. On the whole, participants supported the emergence of queer community, yet offered a cautionary tale as to whether collective queer will be able to achieve its political goals. “Still here, still queer” extends theory in the direction of shared identity and code for conduct, essential dynamics of community.

Leadership of voluntary aided schools : an analysis from the perspective of headteachers

Voluntary aided schools exhibit a unique combination of characteristics including; responsibility for admissions, employment of staff (including the right to prioritise on the basis of faith), control of the RE curriculum, ownership of the premises, and funding from and being part of Local Authorities. This thesis investigates how headteachers of voluntary aided schools perceive their leadership role across the range of small/large, urban/rural and different faith schools of this type and whether they demonstrate similar leadership styles. The paradigmatic approach for this research is that of realism which acknowledges the benefit of both quantitative and qualitative data to generate a broad empirical picture of educational practices, patterns and institutional outcomes. This approach is particularly appropriate for this research as there is a real world of school regulations and requirements imposed externally by central and local government that affect how voluntary aided schools are organised. However, within schools it may be that individual perceptions and priorities distort the image of the external reality and affect how headteachers lead and manage their schools. Mixed methods were utilised comprising an on-line Likert-style questionnaire containing rating scales which provided the opportunity to determine quantitative frequencies and correlations. This was combined with open ended questions which provided the freedom to fuse measurement with opinions, quantity and quality. In addition, a purposive sample of 12 semi-structured interviews provided rich qualitative data conveying the views and perceptions of headteachers of voluntary aided schools in 12 different Local Authorities. This thesis has made a significant original contribution to the body of knowledge in this field by presenting an overview of the perceptions held by headteachers of 450 such schools throughout England (over 10% of the total number) from different phases of education, sizes of school, types of location and denominations. It has addressed the current gap in existing research, supported the findings of several previous smaller-scale studies, identified the distinctive ethos in voluntary aided schools, highlighted the pivotal role of personal faith for these headteachers, produced a new model of ‘ethotic leadership’ and presented suggestions for future research and training.

A tipologia da pesquisa utilizada se moveu pelo âmbito bibliográfico e documental. O método dialético alicerçado no pensamento marxiano proporcionou investigar as determinações contidas no objeto e, consequentemente, a exposição de suas apreensões. A metodologia partiu, portanto, da realidade concreta ainda desconhecida e chegou, após aproximações investigativas, ao real concreto produzido. Os objetivos foram apresentados nos próprios capítulos do trabalho perfazendo o aspecto social e histórico do "EMSS", a materialidade do referido "ethos" e suas relações com o pensamento gramsciano e, por fim, o mesmo "modo de ser" profissional e as aproximações com a categoria democracia, em Gramsci. No primeiro momento, expôs-se acerca das concepções de moral, de ética, de valor e de liberdade do "EMSS". Posteriormente, apresentou-se o surgimento deste "ethos" na categoria profissional, por meio do Método BH e de seu desenvolvimento ético-político presente no III Congresso Brasileiro de Assistentes Sociais (Congresso da Virada), perfazendo o início da constituição sócio histórica do presente "ethos" na profissão. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The object of the study from the current thesis accomplished the analysis of "Ethos in the Mobility" in the Brazilian Social Work ("EMSS") and its approaches to Antonio Gramsci thoughts. The typology research resulted from a bibliography and a documentary. The dialectic method in the Marxist thoughts afforded to investigate the determinations in the object and, consequently, the exposition of its seizures. The methodology began from the concrete reality still unknown and resulted after investigative approaches, taking everything into consideration accomplished. The aims were presented on their chapters and they go through the social and historical aspect from the "EMSS", the existence of the "ethos", and its relation to Gramsci's thoughts and, finally, the same "way of being" professional and the approaches to democracy category, in Gramsci. First of all it was shown the conception of moral, ethic, value, and liberty in "EMSS". Secondly, it was placed the "ethos" in the professional category, through the BH Method and its ethical political development presented in the III Brazilian Convention of Social Workers (Congresso da Virada), making the beginning of the social historic constitution in the current "ethos" in the profession. The investigation accomplished in the Ethical and Political Professional Project through the "EMSS" a new professional perspective, supported in the rupture intention, according Paulo Netto in " Social Work and Dictatorship: An analysis of a Social work in Brazil after 1964". Additionally it was presented the approaches among the constitutive category of the project: theoretical and methodological dimension, ethical and political, technical and operational and its approaches to Gramscians categories of the philosophy of praxis, political and intellectual sciences. The outcome made the presentation of the hegemony category in Gramsci... / Astratto: L'oggetto dello studio della presente Tesi perpassa l'analisi dell' "Ethos della Mobilità" del Servizio Sociale brasiliano" ("EMSS") e la sua vicinanza con il pensiero di Antonio Gramsci. La tipologia della ricerca utilizzata si è spiegata nell'ambito bibliografico e documentale. Il metodo dialettico imbasato nel pensiero di Marx ha proporzionato investigare le determinazioni contenute nell'oggetto e conseguentemente l'esposizione delle sue appreenssioni. La metodologia, è partita, pertanto, dalla realtà concreta ancora sconosciuta e ha raggiunto, dopo alcune approssimazione investigative, il reale concreto prodotto. Gli oggettivi sono stati presentati sui propri capitoli del lavoro, suddivisi fra l'aspetto sociale e storico del EMSS, la materialità del riferito ethos e le sue relazioni con il pensiero Gramsciano e, per fine, lo stesso "modo d'essere" professionale e le sue vicinanze con la categoria democrazia, in Gramsci. In un primo momento, si è esposta sui concetti della morale, dell'etica, del valore e della libertà del EMSS. Di seguito, si è presentato il sorgimento di questo ethos per la categoria professionale attraverso il metodo BH e del suo sviluppo eticopolitico presente nel III Congresso Brasiliano degli Assistenti Sociali, raggiungendosi così l'inizio della costituzione socio-storica dell presente "ethos" di questa professione. L'investigazione si è riversata sulla materialità del proggetto eticopolitico e profissionale, per mezzo del EMSS, sviluppandosi una nuova prospettiva professionale appoggiata nella vertente intenzionanle di rottura, secondo Paulo Netto nel sul libro (Ditadura e Serviço social: uma análise do serviço social pós-64).
