Person-environment fit: work-related attitudes and behavioral outcomes in continuing care retirement communities

Yen, Wen-Shen January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / Department of Hospitality Management & Dietetics / Chihyung Ok / Academics and practitioners alike have studied the concept of person-environment fit (P-E fit) during the last two decades. How well a person fits the work environment may be an effective indicator of attitudes and behaviors in organizations. P-E fit is not completely conceptualized, so existing studies of fit theory have focused only on particular dimensions of fit leading to contradictory results. Therefore, Study 1, using multi-dimensional environment fit, tested relationships among the environment fits, work related attitudes, and outcomes at the individual, group, and organization levels. In addition, Study 2 examined the effect of relationship qualities between hierarchical levels (supervisor-subordinate) and multi-dimensional fit on employee turnover intention. To empirically test the proposed relationships, 288 foodservice employees at continuing care retirement communities (22 facilities) statewide submitted questionnaires. Of these, 261 and 254 were usable in study 1 and study 2, respectively, for further data analysis. The results of structural equation modeling (Study 1) suggested that employee need-supply fit, demand-ability fit, person-group fit, and person-organization fit were positively related to employee need satisfaction. Further, need satisfaction was positively related to outcome variables like work engagement, interpersonal citizenship behavior, and organizational commitment. Results of hierarchical multiple regressions (for Study 2) showed that employee need-supply fit perception related negatively to turnover intention. The study also found that the leader-member exchange relationship moderated the need-supply fit and turnover intention. Thus, a close exchange relationship between leaders and subordinates could keep subordinates from leaving because of a need-supply misfit. Further discussion and managerial implications of the findings along with directions for future studies are provided.

Avaliação da fusibilidade, desajuste marginal e união metalocerâmica do titânio comercialmente puro em função do tipo de revestimento e da temperatura final do molde / Evaluation of the castability, marginal misfit, and metal-ceramic bond strength of the commercially pure titanium in terms of investment type and mold final temperature

Macedo, Mônica Barbosa Leal 31 January 2008 (has links)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the castability, marginal misfit, and metal-ceramic bond strength (MCBS) of the commercially pure (CP) titanium, in terms of investment type, Rematitan Plus (P) and Rematitan Ultra (U), and mold final temperature: 400°C (T1), 550°C (T2), and 700°C (T3). Sixty wax/acrylic resin crown patterns were prepared on a stainless steel stylized crown die having a 30-degree beveled finish line for castability and marginal misfit tests. Sixty wax/acrylic resin cylinder-shaped patterns (height of 8 mm and diameter of 5 mm) were prepared on a plastic matrix for MCBS test. The patterns were invested using two different investments for titanium (P and U). Each investing ring had two patterns: a crown and a cylinder. The casting rings were placed in a furnace to burn out patterns and thermally expand the molds, that were cooled at three temperatures (T1, T2, and T3) for casting in CP titanium. After the rings cooled, the castings were divested manually and airborne-particle abraded with 100-µm aluminum oxide abrasive. Castings were then separated from their sprues. The cast crowns were performed for castability and marginal misfit tests. The cast cylinders were prepared for applying porcelain: their surfaces were machined, airborneparticle abraded with 150-µm aluminum oxide abrasive and cleaned with steam spray. The castability was expressed in terms of the deficiency (µm) between an actual casting margin and a perfect margin. Crown margins were recorded in a silicone impression material. The degree of marginal rounding (R) was measured and margin length deficiencies (µm) (D) were calculated using the formula D=2.7·R. The measurements of marginal misfit (µm) of the cast crowns were performed on the stainlees steel die at a load of 29.4 N. The cylinders composed by metal and ceramic disk (height of 2 mm and diameter of 5 mm) were performed for test of metal-ceramic shear bond strength. Data were subjected to 2-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD test (&aplha;=.05). The results indicated for castability of CP titanium, expressed in terms of marginal deficiency (µm), a significant difference for the main factors, investment (P<.001, P=81±23 and U=64±11), and temperature (P<.001, T1=69±9; T2=68±9; and T3=82±31), as well as for interaction (P<.001, PT1=66±7; PT2=69±10; PT3=109±18; UT1=71±11; UT2=67±8; and UT3=55±7). For marginal misfit (µm), also there was significant difference for the main factors, investment (P<.001, P=465±69 and U=69±58) and temperature (P=.024, T1=220±190; T2=250±212; and T3=332±312), as well as for interaction (P=.032, PT1=369±150; PT2=436±118; PT3=590±233; UT1=70±63; UT2=64±63; and UT3=74±52). However, for MCBS (MPa) there were no significant differences for the main factors, investment (P=.062) and temperature (P=.224), as well as for interaction (P=.149). It was concluded that investment U provided better castability and lower marginal misfit for CP titanium than investment P. T3 provided worse castability and higher marginal misfit for CP titanium than T1. The effect of the increase in mold final temperature on the castability of CP titanium was different between investments, producing better results for U and worse results for P, from T2 to T3; for marginal misfit, this effect was only observed for P, provided higher marginal misfit from T2 to T3. The MCBS was similar between investments and there were no differences with the increase in the mold temperature for casting CP titanium.

Observações na linha de 21 cm do hidrogênio: um ajuste fenomenológico para extração das oscilações acústicas de bárions do espectro de potência angular / Observations in the 21cm line of hydrogen: A phenomenological fit to extract the baryon acoustic oscillations from the angular power spectrum

Marins, Alessandro Ribeiro 17 September 2018 (has links)
In this work, I searched for a phenomenological fit that describes the behavior of the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) in the angular power spectrum of brightness temperature of the 21cm line from the neutral hydrogen atom, under Limbers approximation. The fit obtained has shown to be capable of describe the oscillatory behaviour of the BAO in the redshift bands analyzed, that lies in the range from 0.127 to 0.479. When combined with supernova data, the constraints in the cosmological parameters produced more precise results. However, constraints including measuring the local value of the Hubble. constant worsen the data, due to great divergences in the values of the Hubble constant.

Medida da seção de choque diferencial do canal de reação 0K+ / Differential cross section measurement for channel of reaction p ! K+0

Echeimberg, Jorge de Oliveira 16 February 2009 (has links)
This work analyzed the experimental data for the reaction p ! K+0 with incident photon energy of, 1.0 E < 3.6GeV (1, 66 W < 2, 76GeV ). The data were taken during the G10 experiment in Hall-B of the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab). In Hall-B is located the CLAS detector spectrometer that uses a system of tagged photons increasing the accuracy in the determination of the photon that generated an event in the target of liquid hydrogen. This study used two different methods of analysis: the kinematic fit and the method of background subtraction. The kinematic fit takes into account kinematic aspects of the reaction in the selection of data, using statistical tools. In the other hand, the subtraction method to separate the background in the region of interest through linear cuts of some relevant quantities. Following it, was obtained the differential cross section in the range of energies of the incident photons and at an angles cos(CM K+ ) ranging from -0.9 to 0.9. The total cross section, tot(W), calculated through Partial Wave analysis, shows that the results are consistent with SAPHIR data, indicating no evidences of P13 resonance.

Blusgrunder och passform / Achieving good fit in upper garments

Eriksson, Sofia January 2013 (has links)
Body image is strongly linked to the fit of clothing. Clothing can enhance the areas of our body that we are contempt with as well as disguise the ones we are not so satisfied with. The hardest, but also the most important challenge for a clothing company, is to create clothes that really fit their customers. The purpose of this study is to investigate how good fit is created in upper garments. The study is carried out as an assignment for a clothing company. Fit is accomplished by five factors; grain, set, line, ease and balance. To achieve a good fit, most companies in the clothing industry are working with basic patterns. Evaluation of fit is carried out through the whole product development phase with the help of fitting session and measuring of the garments. The researcher has a key role in this survey and will be directly involved in the process to ensure constant progress. Initially, three basic patterns for blouses will be constructed. Then a blouse with balance issue will be analyzed and adjusted. This adjustment will be documented as general description for altering upper garments with balance issues. The main focus of this study is to achieve as good basic patterns as possible. Along with fit, balance is also an important subject in the survey. Adjusting the balance in a garment can be accomplished by raising highest point of shoulder. I have mainly used literature that I am familiar with to be able to focus more on accomplishing my assignment. All steps are fulfilled which means that actions taken throughout the study have been accurate. It would be interesting to further explore fitting problems regarding balance. The use of darts is another way to enhance balance. It would therefore be of most interest to compare this to raising highest point of shoulder and especially look at differences in these two methods. / Program: Designteknikerutbildningen

Bättre passform på blusar : ett examensarbete i samarbete med Ka of Sweden / Better fit for blouses : A thesis in cooperation with Ka of Sweden

Johansson, Maria January 2011 (has links)
The work was done in collaboration with the Ka of Sweden where the task was to produce a better fit for the blouses of woven material. The current fit does not have a good bust adjustment and have similar armhole front and back. I chose to work out the theoretical part first and compile lists of measurements and then work out the empirical part of constructions, fittings and finished the first sample. The result of my work was very good and it's been fun working against a company. / Program: Designteknikerutbildningen

Efeito da sinterização da cerâmica no desajuste marginal de coroas metalocerâmicas de níquel-cromo e cobalto-cromo / The effect of ceramics sintering in the marginal misfit on nickel-chromium and cobalt-chromium metal-ceramic crowns

Dias, Ana Paula 11 December 2013 (has links)
The good marginal fit is a critical point for the clinical success of metal-ceramic crowns after definitive cementation. The knowledge of alloys properties, their interference factors and materials development allows the creation of new crowns within clinically acceptable marginal fit, factor that enables a good periodontal restorations performance and also prevents caries recurrences in cementation line. The present study evaluated, by optical microscopy, marginal fit in metal-ceramic crowns fused with three different alloys; Nickel-Chromium (Verabond II), Cobalt- Chromium (Keragen) and a experimetal Nickel-Chromium (SR) alloy in three distinct stages; after the cast (T1), after opaque layer application (T2) and after ceramic coating (T3). Were selected two equidistant points in a metal coping that representing ¼ turn on the measurement device, in a total of 8 measurements for coping in each step that results in a misfit average. Comparisons were performed using a parametric test for independent data (ANOVA), followed by Bonferroni test where applicable. The level of significance was set at 5%. The results showed there were statistical differences for such factors: time (p = 0.00) and alloy (p = 0.001). In relation to time, after ceramics application, there was higher marginal misfit (132 μm) than after opaque sintering (111.81 μm) and before sintering (90.44 μm) with differences between these two steps. In relation to alloys, the experimental SR alloy showed the lower marginal misfit (79.75 μm) than Ni-Cr alloys (120.23 μm) and Co- Cr (134.28 μm) and there was no statistical difference for these experimental groups There was no significant difference for interaction (p = 0.834). In conclusion the marginal misfit increases after ceramics sintering. Experimental SR alloy showed the best results among the alloys and can be safely used to metal ceramic restorations.

Sá, André Teixeira January 2015 (has links)
The objective of this work is to analyze the influences of Strategic Fit in order to reach agreements in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) negotiations. The method involved a qualitative research with quantitative support to develop an analytical framework that integrates elements of M&A and Negotiation, allowing to identify and evaluate 115 variables in 20 actual cases of M&A negotiations of Which 10 Reached a Deal, and 10 Did Not Reach a Deal. Although with limitations, the study achieved its proposed objectives identifying four macro-relations of influence (MRI): Strategic Fit presence positively influences the chance of an agreement, through Synergies and its absence has a negatively influence; Risks and Impediments are part of the Value Equation to the Buyer, when threatening the capture of value they can prevent the chance of agreement; Inducing Pressures positively influences the chance of agreements in M&A transactions; and Critical Converging Interests is a pre-condition to reach agreements in M&A operations. This dissertation contributes to the development of an integrated view between M&A and Negotiation, enabling a more cognizant, consistent and strategic behavior in order to reach agreements. Particular attention is given to the MRI that involves Strategic Fit, as it proved a strong influencing factor (82% of cases with Strategic Fit reached an agreement). As well, the quantitative analytical framework used showed to be robust (results in the 20 cases studied in here confirmed a previous study by Shelton in 1988 of 218 cases) indicating potential to become a decision-supporting tool, since it allows the synergy potential evaluation between companies and market niches.
