Triumfetta cordifolia et Bridelia thermifolia sont deux arbustes de la région tropicale d'Afrique dont les gommes extraites des écorces fraîches ou séchées sont confinées aux utilisations traditionnelles, notamment dans la cuisine (propriétés d'épaississement et d'aromatisation des sauces, d'amélioration de la texture des pâtisseries) et dans le procédé de décantation des bières traditionnelles de sorgho (bili-bili). Dans le but d'identifier la nature des gommes responsables de ces propriétés et d'évaluer leur potentiel de valorisation, la composition chimique (protéines, polysaccharides, fibres et minéraux) des écorces a été déterminée. Les gommes ont été extraites, caractérisées sur le plan chimique (composition en monosaccharides et en minéraux) et physique (comportement rhéologiques des extraits, poids moléculaire, viscosité intrinsèque et rayon de giration) et l'effet combiné des facteurs du milieu (température, pH, et concentration saline (NaCl, KCl, CaCl2 et MgCl2)) influençant la viscosité a été analysé selon un plan composite centré. Enfin, un essai d'application de ces gommes dans la préparation des beignets de maïs et de sorgho a été réalisé. Les résultats des analyses chimiques montrent une prédominance des polysaccharides dans les écorces (52 et 55% respectivement pour B. thermifolia et T. cordifolia) et dans les extraits (76 et 80% respectivement pour B. thermifolia et T. cordifolia), avec des teneurs 5 à 8 fois supérieures à celles des protéines. Ce qui permet de considérer que ces polysaccharides sont responsables des propriétés physiques d'épaississement exprimées par les extraits. Ces propriétés ne sont aucunement modifiées par le séchage des écorces. Les polysaccharides des extraits sont constitués principalement de rhamnose (24,51%), de galactose (15,23%), d'acides glucuronique (25,51%) et galacturonique (20,23%). La présence significative d'acides uroniques justifie la persistance des minéraux dans les extraits purifiés. Les masses moléculaires moyennes des polysaccharides sont de 6,14 x106 et 3,58 x106Da respectivement pour T. cordifolia et B. thermifolia. Sur le plan physique, leurs viscosités intrinsèques et leur rayon de giration sont relativement élevés (18,33dl/g et 269,6nm pour T. cordifolia; 17,98dl/g et 217,8nm pour B. thermifolia). La cinétique de séchage des écorces de T. cordifolia et B. thermifolia se déroule en deux périodes cinétiques représentées par deux constantes de séchage k1 et k2 qui augmentent avec la température de séchage. La viscosité des extraits diminue pour des températures de séchage des écorces au-délà de 70°C. Cette baisse de viscosité des extraits serait plus le résultat d'un changement de conformation des polysaccharides que de leur dégradation. L'étude du comportement rhéologique de ces polysaccharides traduit un comportement rhéofluidifiant, viscoélastique, peu thixotrope et avec des contraintes seuil d'écoulement comprises entre 0,2 et 5Pa et entre 0,5 et 1Pa respectivement pour T. cordifolia et B. thermifolia à des concentrations comprises entre 0,52 et 0,82g/l. La température et les cations monovalents (K+ et Na+) ont un effet dépresseur sur la viscosité des gommes tandis que les pHs faiblement acide et alcalin et les cations divalents (Ca2+ et Mg2+) l'augmentent. L'effet combiné de ces facteurs sur la viscosité des gommes se décrit de façon satisfaisante par un modèle de second degré. L'analyse des interactions entre les facteurs de variation (définit dans le modèle) met en évidence, pour chaque facteur, une plage de valeurs pour lesquelles il contribue à l'obtention d'une zone de viscosités optimales et offre sur le plan pratique une gamme de choix des niveaux de variables en fonction du niveau de viscosité voulue. L'incorporation d'extraits de T. cordifolia (3,5 g/l) et B. thermifolia (11 g/l) dans la farine de maïs ou de sorgho, contribue de façon significative à l'amélioration du gonflemen / Triumfetta cordifolia and Bridelia thermifolia are two shrubs of tropical Africa whose gums extracted from fresh or dried barks are confined to traditional uses, particularly in the kitchen (thickening and flavoring properties in sauces and improvement of the texture of bakery ptoducts) and in the decantation process of the sorghum based traditionnal beer (bili-bili). In order to identify the nature of the gums responsible for these properties and assess their potentials for valorization, the chemical composition (proteins, polysaccharides, minerals and fiber) of barks was determined. The gums were extracted, and characterized for their chemical (monosaccharide composition and minerals) and physical (rheological behavior of extracts, molecular weight, intrinsic viscosity and radius of gyration) properties. Then, the combined effects of environmental factors (temperature, pH and salt concentration [NaCl, KCl, CaCl2 and MgCl2]) influencing the viscosity was analyzed using a central composite design. Finally application test of these gums in preparing doughnuts from maize and sorghum flour was carried out. The results of chemical analyzes showed that polysaccharides dominated in the barks (52 and 55% respectively for B.thermifolia and T. cordifolia) and in extracts (76 and 80% respectively for B.thermifolia and T. cordifolia), with levels 5-8 times higher than those of proteins. This allowed to hypothesize that these polysaccharides are responsible for the thickening properties demonstrated by the extracts. These properties are not be affected by the drying of the bark. The polysaccharides of the extracts are mainly composed of rhamnose (24.51%), galactose (15.23%), glucuronic acid (25.51%) and galacturonic acid (20.23%). The significant presence of uronic acids justifies the persistence of minerals in the purified extracts. The molecular weights of polysaccharides are 6.14 x106 and 3.58x106 Da, respectively for T. cordifolia and B. thermifolia. On the physical level, their intrinsic viscosities and their gyration radius are relatively high (18.33 dl/g and 269.6 nm for T. cordifolia; 17.98 dl/g and 217.8 nm for B. thermifolia). The drying kinetics for barks of T. cordifolia and B. thermifolia presents two falling rate periods represented by two kinetic constants k1 and k2, which increase with increasing drying temperature. Viscosity of extracts decreases when barks are dried beyond 70°C. This may be probably the consequence of a conformational change of polysaccharides than the result of their degradation. The study of the rheological behavior of these polysaccharides indicates a shear thinning, viscoelastic and weak thixotropic behavior, with flowing pressures yield point between 0.2 and 5Pa and between 0.5 and 1Pa, respectively for T. cordifolia and B. thermifolia, at concentrations between 0.52 and 0.82 g/l. Temperature and monovalent cations (K+ and Na+) have a depressant effect on viscosity of gums, while weakly acidic and alkaline pH and divalent cations (Ca2+ and Mg2+) increase it. The combined effect of these factors on the viscosity of gums is satisfactorily described by a second degree model. Analysis of interactions between factors of variation shows, for each factor, a range of values for which it contributes to the achievement of a zone of optimal viscosity. This zone offers a practical range for the choice of variable levels, depending on the desired viscosity. The incorporation of extracts of T. cordifolia (3.5 g/l) and B. thermifolia (11 g/l) in the maize or sorghum flour, improves significantly the swelling of the dough. The doughnuts obtained after baking are, from organoleptic point of view, comparable to wheat doughnuts.

Reciclagem de PETpc na incorporação da formulação de uma tinta em pó

A crescente utilização de embalagens de PET tem como conseqüência elevada geração de resíduos sólidos. A reciclagem é uma alternativa para a reutilização deste material polimérico. Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a influência da incorporação de 2,5, 5 e 7,5% (m/m) de pó de PETpc em substituição à carga mineral sulfato de bário (BaSO4) em uma tinta em pó base resina poliéster de formulação comercial. Foram utilizados dois processos de obtenção da tinta: no processo 1, a tinta foi processada na extrusora dupla rosca (processo convencional) e no processo 2, primeiramente a resina e o PETpc foram extrusados na extrusora mono rosca e após todos os componentes da tinta foram homogeneizados na extrusora dupla rosca. As tintas foram aplicadas em corpos de prova de aço carbono AISI 1005 de dimensões 70 mm x 120 mm x 0,75 mm submetidos ao pré-tratamento de fosfatização de zinco. O pó de PETpc, o PET flake e as tintas em pó obtidas foram caracterizadas a partir de análise granulométrica, espectroscopia de infravermelho por transformada de Fourier (FTIR), análise termogravimétrica (TGA) e calorimetria exploratória diferencial (DSC). O efeito da incorporação do pó de PETpc nas propriedades mecânicas e de desempenho à corrosão das tintas foi avaliado com ensaios de medida de brilho, aderência, flexibilidade, resistência ao impacto, ângulo de contato, exposição à névoa salina (NS), espectroscopia impedância eletroquímica (EIE) e análises de microscopia eletrônica de varredura por emissão de campo (MEV/FEG). Os resultados evidenciaram que a incorporação do pó de PETpc na tinta em pó não interferiu no comportamento térmico das tintas obtidas com o processo 1, porém reduziu o brilho e visualizou-se trincas na concentração de 2,5% de pó de PETpc. Nas tintas obtidas a partir do processo 2, observou-se alteração no comportamento térmico das tintas verificado nos ensaios de TGA e DSC, bem como alterações no filme de tinta com aumento do brilho e também no ensaio de flexibilidade que com 5% de pó de PETpc apresentou melhor resultado. Nos ensaios de impacto, névoa salina, ângulo de contato e aderência, não houve alteração nos resultados obtidos com os dois processos utilizados. No ensaio de EIE as tintas com adição superior a 2,5% de pó de PETpc não apresentaram corrosão. Two coatings obtain procedures were used: method 1 coating was processed in twin screw extruder (conventional method) and the method 2, first resin and PETpc were extruded in the single extruder thread and after all coatings components were homogenised in twin screw extruder. The coatings were applied on carbon steel AISI 1005 samples of 70 mm x 120 mm x 0.75 mm dimensions with prephosphating treatment were used. The PETpc powder, the PET flake and powder coatings obtained were characterized from thermal analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The effect of incorporating of PETpc powder on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the coatings were evaluated by gloss measurement tests, adhesion, flexibility, impact resistance, exposure to salt spray (NS) electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and analysis of scanning electron field emission (SEM/FEG). The results showed that the incorporation of PETpc powder in the powder coatings did not affect the thermal behavior of the coatings obtained by the process 1, but reduced gloss and in the flexibility test visualized cracks in the concentration of 2.5% PETpc powder. In the coatings obtained from the process 2 was observed change in the thermal behavior of the coatings seen in the TGA and DSC testing, as well as changes in the coatings film with increase in the gloss and also in the flexibility test as with 5% PETpc powder showed the better results. Impact tests, salt spray, contact angle and grip there was no change in the results obtained with the two processes used. In test EIS powder coatings adding more than 2.5% PETpc powder showed no corrosion. Thus, the results indicate that the incorporation of PETpc powder on powder coating based polyester resin may be a promising use for improving the properties of the coating and may also be an alternative to the use of waste PETpc.

Porém, geralmente estes adesivos apresentam desvantagens em ensaios em que temperaturas na faixa de 90º C são requeridas. Neste trabalho, foram preparados adesivos de borracha termoplástica com nanoargilas do tipo montmorilonita com duas organofilicidades diferentes, a fim de se estudar o desempenho das propriedades adesivas de peel, tack, shear e SAFT (Shear Adhesion Failure Temperature), além das propriedades de flamabilidade. Primeiramente, foram preparados masterbatches de resina hidrocarbônica e nanoargilas Cloisite® 20A e 25A (sendo a 20A mais organofílica) pelo processo de intercalação do fundido, através de extrusora dupla-rosca. Análises de difração de raios X e microscopia eletrônica de transmissão sugerem uma esfoliação da Cloisite® 20A na resina e uma intercalação da Closite® 25A. Depois, os masterbatches foram utilizados na preparação de compostos adesivos nas concentrações de 5 e 10 phr de nanoargilas, também em extrusora dupla-rosca. Ensaios de difração de raios X sugereriram a esfoliação das nanoargilas em todos os compostos adesivos, porém, pelas análises de microscopia eletrônica de transmissão, a amostra preparada com a Cloisite® 20A, na concentração de 10 phr, apresentou uma esfoliação relativamente maior. Ensaios dinâmico-mecânicos apresentaram significativo deslocamento da temperatura de transição vítrea (pico de tan d) para os adesivos preparados com a Cloisite® 20A, sugerindo a formação de nanocompósitos. Os módulos de armazenamento, na faixa de 70 a 93º C, obtidos com estes compostos adesivos, apresentaram também valores inferiores aos demais adesivos, sendo que a uma concentração de 10 phr o módulo foi o menor obtido e a uma concentração de 5 phr o módulo apresentou um valor intermediário. Os ensaios nas fitas adesivas demonstraram um maior equilíbrio de propriedades adesivas para o adesivo preparado com a Closite® 20A numa concentração de 5phr, apresentando este, módulo ótimo na faixa de temperatura de 70 a 93º C. Este adesivo manteve as propriedades de peel e tack próximas às do adesivo referência, melhorando significativamente as propriedades de shear a 70 e 93º C e SAFT. O ensaio de flamabilidade não foi conclusivo pois as amostras foram consideradas inflamáveis e houve muita variabilidade nos resultados obtidos para os tempos de queima. / Abstract: Adhesives prepared with thermoplastic rubber are very important for the pressure sensitive adhesives industry due to its easy processability. However, these adhesives are usually not indicated for applications in which temperature resistance around 90o C is required. In this study, thermoplastic rubber adhesives with nanoclays were prepared, in order to evaluate its adhesion performance: peel, tack, shear and SAFT. Moreover, the flammability properties are also going to be studied. Firstly, masterbatches of nanoclays Cloisite® 20A and 25A (being 20A more organophilic) and hydrocarbon resin were prepared through melt intercalation process, using a twin-screw extruder. Analysis through X ray difraction and transmission electronic microscopy suggests the exfoliation of Cloisite® 20A in the resin and the intercalation of Cloisite® 25A. After that, the masterbatches were used in the hot melt adhesives preparation, giving the nanoclays concentration of 5 and 10 phr. This process was also made in the twin-screw extruder. Analysis through X ray difraction showed again the exfoliation of the nanoclays in the adhesive, however, transmission electronic microscopy suggests that the sample prepared with Cloisite® 20A and concentration of 10phr presented the higher level of exfoliation. Dynamic-mechanical analysis showed a glass transition temperature shift (tan d peak) for the adhesives prepared with Cloisite® 20A, suggesting the formation of nanocomposites. The storage modulus of these adhesives, in the range from 70 to 93oC, showed values lower than the reference and other adhesives, being the adhesive with 20A and 10 phr the lowest modulus and the adhesive with 20A and 5 phr the intermediate value for the modulus. The testing done with the adhesive tapes, showed more balanced properties for the adhesive prepared with Cloisite® 20A and 5 phr, suggesting an optimal value for the modulus. This adhesive kept peel and tack properties close to the reference and showed improvements in properties like: 70 and 93oC shear and SAFT. CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeiÃoamento de Pessoal de NÃvel Superior / Using the osteoarthritis (OA) model induced by anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) in rats, we have demonstred that guar gum (GG), a galactomannan extracted from Cyamopsis tetragonolobus seeds, displays analgesic activity similar to Hylan G-F 20, a hyaluronate derivate used as local therapy in human OA. In the same model, we objective to develop a parametric biochemical method for joint lesion evaluation, and to investigate the mechanism for analgesia and the chondroprotective effect of GG. Wistar rats subjected to ACLT (OA group) were sacrificed at different endpoints. Joint pain was daily measured using the test for articular incapacitation in rats, until 70 days. Joint lavage was used for NO determination. Articular cartilage was evaluated by the chondroitin-sulfate (CS) content and determination of its molar weight. Histophatologic analysis using the OARSI score system was also performed. Sham-operated groups were used for comparison. In the studies of joint pain, OA groups received indomethacin (2mg/kg/d s.c.), meloxicam (6mg/kg/d i.p.), tadalafil (0.5mg/kg/d p.o.) between days 4 and 7.Morphine (200Âg i.art.) was given at day 4 only, 30 min before the pain evaluation. Naloxone (500Âg i. art.) was given 15 min prior morphine. Sodium alendronate (30 or 240Âg i. art.) was given prophilactically, starting 3 days prior ACLT, and repeated at each 3 days, until day 6. Original or chemically modified GG (100&#956;g/50&#956;l i. art.) was given as a single dose at day 4. Galactose or mannose was co-administred (500&#956;g/50&#956;l i. art.) with original GG. In the study of chondroprotection, GG (100&#956;g/50&#956;l i. art.) was given once weekly, starting at day 14, during 8 weeks. Non-treated animals (NT) received vehicle (saline). OA animals presented maximal joint pain and NO release in the first week. Both CS content and molar weight were higher at day 70 (p<0.05). At this endpoint, important histopathologic changes were found in the OA group. Indomethacin, meloxican, tadalafil and morphine significantly reduced joint pain (p<0.05). Naloxone reverted the effect of morphine. Alendronate prevented the joint pain development. Modified GG structures were unable to promote analgesia. The analgesic effect of unmodified GG could be reverted by galactose (p<0.01), but not by mannose. GG treatment prevented the CS changes, and it reduced the histopatologic lesion (p<0.05). CS changes seem to reflect the tecidual damage, and may be used as an index for the joint lesion. The analgesic efficacy of GG is due to galactose residues. In addition, the chondroprotective effect by GG was demonstrated. This is an important contribution to propose GG as an antiarthrosic drug / No modelo de osteoartrite (OA) induzida por transecÃÃo do ligamento cruzado anterior em ratos (TLCA), havÃamos demonstrado que a goma guar (GG), uma galactomanana extraÃda das sementes de Cyamopsis tetragonolobus goma guar, apresenta atividade analgÃsica em magnitude semelhante à exibida pelo Hilano G-F 20, um derivado do Ãcido hialurÃnico utilizado em terapia intra-articular da OA humana. Utilizando o referido modelo, objetivamos desenvolver um mÃtido bioquÃmico paramÃtrico para avaliaÃÃo da lesÃo articular no referido modelo, e investigar o mecanismo para a analgesia e a eficÃcia condroprotetora da GG. Ratos Wistar submetidos à TLCA (grupo OA) foram sacrificados em diferentes perÃodos. A dor articular foi avaliada diariamente pelo teste de incapacitaÃÃo para ratos, por atà 70 dias. O lavado articular foi usado para determinaÃÃo da liberaÃÃo de NO. A cartilagem foi avaliada pela determinaÃÃo do teor de condrotin-sulfato (CS) na matriz, alÃm da avaliaÃÃo da massa molar do mesmo. A lesÃo articular foi avaliada tambÃm por anÃlise histopatolÃgica, segundo os escores OARSI. Grupos falso-operados (sham) foram utilizados para comparaÃÃo. Para estudos sobre a dor articular, animais do grupo OA receberam terapeuticamente indometacina (2mg/kg/d s.c.), meloxicam (6mg/kg/d i.p.), ou tadalafila (0,5mg/kg/d p.o.), do quarto ao sÃtimo dias. Morfina (200Âg i. art.) foi administrada apenas no quarto dia, 30 min antes da avaliaÃÃo da dor. Naloxona (500Âg i. art.) foi administrada 15 min antes de morfina. Alendronato sÃdico (30 ou 240Âg/kg s.c.) foi administrado profilaticamente trÃs dias antes da induÃÃo, e repetido a cada trÃs dias, atà o sexto dia. GG original ou quimicamente modificada foi administrada em dose Ãnica no quarto dia (100&#956;g/50&#956;l i. art.). Galactose ou manose (500&#956;g/50&#956;l i. art.) foram co-administrados à GG original. Para avaliaÃÃo sobre a lesÃo da cartilagem, GG (100&#956;g/50&#956;l i. art) foi administrada como dose Ãnica semanal, do 14 ao 63 dias. Animais nÃo tratados (NT) receberam veÃculo (salina) nas respectivas vias. O grupo OA apresentou dor articular mÃxima durante a primeira semana, perÃodo no qual houve a maior liberaÃÃo de NO. 70 dias apÃs TLCA, o teor e a massa molar do CS da matriz da cartilagem mostraram-se ambos aumentados (p<0,05). Importantes alteraÃÃes histopatolÃgicas foram encontradas no grupo OA nesse perÃodo. Indometacina, meloxicam, tadalafila e morfina reduziram significantemente a dor (p<0,05), sendo o efeito desta Ãltima revertido por naloxona. Alendronato sÃdico preveniu a ocorrÃncia da dor. As estruturas modificadas de GG nÃo exibiram eficÃcia analgÃsica. Galactose, mas nÃo manose, reverteu significativamente o efeito analgÃsico da GG nÃo-modificada (p<0,01). GG preveniu as alteraÃÃes do CS da cartilagem, e reduziu significativamente a lesÃo histopatolÃgica (p<0,05). As alteraÃÃes sofridas pelo CS parecem refletir o dano tecidual, validando tal metodologia para avaliaÃÃo da lesÃo estrutural. A eficÃcia analgÃsica da GG decorre de um efeito farmacolÃgico dependente de galactose. Mais ainda, demonstramos a eficÃcia condroprotetora in vivo para a GG, indispendÃvel para sua validaÃÃo como droga anti-artrÃsica.
