The purpose of this essay is to contribute with further knowledge to why woman have a hard time making a career to a top postition. Our main focus is to examine and explain how inclusion and exclusion of individuals are present at an organizational level and within in the relationships among people within and between organisations. By studying inclusion and exclusion we hope to understand how these can work as difficulties and how they’re present when woman proceed to a top position within organizations. Our results helps us understand that exclusion at the organizational level is due to the fact that there is someone else who has the authority to promote you. We also found a tendency that networking within and between organizations can make it difficult for women due to the fact that most of our woman must develop relationsships to men who are more likely to be in a top position. Within the relationship aspect we find tendencies that show that there has been a great deal of men with the power to promote others and men are more likely to choose other men in to leading positions.

Womens Club? : The Role of Gender in the Female Business Angel’s Investment ProcessEdenvik, Hanna, Suhr Perez, Amon January 2024 (has links)
Business angels constitute an increasingly important source of capital for entrepreneurs in their ventures’ early stages. Previous research and reports, however, state that female entrepreneurs are heavily underfunded. Through a qualitative approach, this study aims to explore how gender plays a role in female business angels' decision to invest, using homosocial theory as a lens when analyzing the empirics gained from the nine conducted interviews with female business angels. Analyzing the empirics of this study, the authors found that on a broader level, female business angels display a tendency towards conditional homosociality, but minimal heterosocial or homosocial tendencies, in their investment decision-making process. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of gaining a greater understanding of how gender plays a role in business angels' decision to invest, to potentially better understand the gap in funding between female and male entrepreneurs.

Kvinnor som leder bland mänAkhand, Mukut Hasina, Lewenhaupt, Louise January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate how female economists and civil engineers with leading positions experience / experienced their career opportunities in a male-dominated industry. Furthermore, the study describes whether any changes have occurred over time and whether it is possible to make a difference between economists and engineers. With a qualitative research approach and interviews we carry out with eight women of different ages, it is studied how these women experienced the opportunities through their career life and their experiences and beliefs are linked to theories such as corporate culture, glass ceiling and homosociality. The result shows that women's career opportunities are limited to socio-cultural norms that are exercised by men as well as women themselves. Which also indicates that the changes are slower than expected. The power structure will continue to be in imbalance between the sexes, believe even distribution in the workplace and that the language of economists is "more masculine" than the civil engineers.
