Previous issue date: 2017-03-31 / The film narratives of Japanese animation director Hayao Miyazaki - theme of this
research - expose some issues that involve life in society by questioning
situations and stereotypes through their hybrid aesthetics, and mainly through their
female characters In this way, we take as theoretical object the consumption of aesthetics
hybrid - in which the female characters are found - and the layers of memory there
involved. In this sense, this research has as general objective to identify the composition
of the female representations and how the transgressive character of them is given. We adopt
specific objectives: to understand how the anime genre emerged and to contextualize the
course of Hayao Miyazaki as director of animation. Understand how
Hayao Miyazaki are embedded in a context of production and media consumption,
demonstrating negotiations between the director and the animation industry. Verify that
his aesthetic is constructed, from the textual memory and analysis of the composition of the
scenarios, characters, plot, costumes and other aspects. Analyze how
make up the female representations in the works of Hayao Miyazaki and, finally, to verify
how the female characters produce a representation of memory that subverts the
memory of what we understand as a Japanese woman. For this, an analysis is made from
a corpus of ten works scripted and directed by the director [Ponyo: A Friendship that Came
of the Sea (2008), the Service of Deliveries of Kiki (1989), The Castle animated (2004), Princess
Mononoke (1997), My Friend Totoro (1988), Porco Rosso: The Last Romantic Hero
(1992), Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), Lives to the Wind (2013), The Journey of Chihiro
(2001), The Castle in the Sky (1986)]. In order to highlight the female characters, formulating
a methodological framework dividing them into six phases: children, girls, youth, adults, mothers and
the elderly. Using the basilar pillars: consumption and communication; memory; women were

possible to question about aspects concretized by society and to think about the
possibility of change and restart.

(2001), O Castelo no Céu (1986)].
Halbwachs, Pollak, Canclini, Rocha, Martel, Miyazaki, Luyten, Barbosa Júnior, Sato, Louro,

Previous issue date: 2015-03-18 / This paper shows, through critical analysis, the comic Mannerist work in O exército
de um homem só, by Moacyr Scliar. The hybrids character of the comic and its
variations are significant elements for the laugher composition in this narrative. From
this, it was asked if the work by Moacyr Scliar has Mannerist features. The
methodological study and qualitative research studied the laughter with emphasis on
concept of mannerism, emphasizing it not as a period style, but as aesthetic effect.
The objective of this research is to analyze the method of production of the comic,
exposing, from mannerism, the construction of laughter. The result confirms that, in
fact, the work has Mannerist characteristics by innovating the way of presenting the
narrative. This work is important because can support future researches, for literature
teachers and others interested in dichotomous spheres dealing with the real and
unreal, rational and irrational. Thus, it can be proved that the mannerism as aesthetic
effect shows that there are not innocent words in the construction of the work in O
exército de um homem só, and that the humor, of this novel, can bewitch, shock,
incite or displease, presented it about different shades / O presente trabalho visa mostrar, por meio da análise crítica, a comicidade
construção do riso.
diferentes matizes.

Sweden’s Foreign Policy in General and in Afghanistan : A Post-Liberal Peace Framework? / Sweden’s Foreign Policy in General and in Afghanistan : A Post-Liberal Peace Framework?Shepherd, Jack January 2019 (has links)
The liberal peace framework has in the past two decades experienced an increased amount of criticism for its uniform strategies, with several alternatives being presented as a response. One such an alternative is the framework of the post-liberal peace. Although researched in multiple articles by various scholars, Richmond’s (2011) book A Post-Liberal Peace is the most extensive piece on the subject and has therefore chiefly been used in the analysis of this paper. While previous studies and literature has examined different aspects of the post-liberal peace, none had considered a country’s foreign policy both in general and specific to one country. The prior neglection of Sweden and Afghanistan led to a focus of the two countries in this study. The aim of this paper was to fill the gap in the literature on the post-liberal peace framework as applied to a country’s foreign policy, thereby illuminating whether Sweden’s foreign policy adheres to the post-liberal peace framework. Text analysis was employed so as to critically examine the Swedish foreign policy by looking at certain concepts, in addition to implicit and explicit statements made relating to values inherent to the post-liberal peace framework. The hypothesis of this study claimed that Sweden’s social democratic feminist foreign policies adhere to the post-liberal peace framework and therefore would illustrate the proposed likeness between Sweden’s social democratic foreign policy and the post-liberal peace framework. The results from the data analysis displayed several qualities that adhered to the above-stated framework, while also exhibiting a number of inconsistencies and indubitably contrasting values. In sum, the study provides evidence that the social democratic feminist foreign policy of Sweden to a certain extent share similarity with the post-liberal peace framework, thereby partly confirming the hypothesis.

Hibridismo e simultaneidade no romance \'The famished road\', de Ben Okri / Hybridity and simultaneous in the novel \'The famished road\', by Ben OkriCarbonieri, Divanize 15 May 2006 (has links)
In the novel The Famished Road (1991) Nigerian author Ben Okri gives a new dimension to the spirit child or abiku\'s image, which is a recurrent motif among the Yoruba and many other cultures from West Africa. The abiku is a characteristic subject of the African oral narrative and is also present in some African literature in English as the abiku is part of the belief of those cultures. However, Okri undertakes an innovation, turning the abiku into the narrator of his novel. Since this creature is an in between, living permanently in the intersection between the world of the living and the world of the dead, the structure of the literary work is altered by the reality as it is seen through his eyes. His vision is made up by the simultaneous images of those two worlds. In the construction of his novel, Okri tries to translate this vision to a Western reading audience, using paradigms from both the African orality and Western literature. Thus, the novel is placed in a transitional space between African and Western cultures. Narrative methods and strategies from both traditions are used and the abiku phenomenon itself is invested by other more Western conceptions about the soul\'s resurrection. This dissertation aims to reveal from a postcolonial theoretical perspective how this novel is constructed as a hybrid work between the modes of perceiving and depicting reality characteristic of each one of these cultures.

Far beyond the delimitation of borders for fiction, documentary, essay film, experimental and so many, we realize that there is an amalgamation between these territories in contemporary audiovisual language. This research aims to investigate hybridization spaces, in order to understand their approximations and distances. With this purpose, we have selected as objects of study two Brazilian films, both directed by Karim Aïnouz and Marcelo Gomes: the documentary Sertão de acrílico azul piscina (2004) and the fiction I travel because I have to, I come back because I love you (Viajo porque preciso, volto porque te amo, 2009). In the analysis of the films narrative structure, we intend to elaborate a space of intersection, an intermediate narrative from its indexing layers, considering the emission and the production of the works. Similarly, in the sphere of discursive reception, we approach the need to construct a hybridized reading mode, sufficiency for the impressions and sensations perceived by the viewer in his or her contact with these films, composed of an intersection, which borders should not be bounded unless by a vast space of intersection.

Previous issue date: 2012-04-27 / The choro, he cultivates an instrumental genre improvisational style, has been transformed in
the course of its history, both in melody and harmony. The first cries compounds possessed
simple harmonies, making the soloists of the time to interpret differently from today. The
different treatments harmonics, which have arisen over time, seem to have been one of the
leaders of these different interpretations, which have been shown in an intense and
characteristic improvisation. Apparently, there was an increase in these transformations of
choro with the rapid development of technology and media from the mid-twentieth century.
This circumstance, perhaps, brought a more intense and immediate contact of this musical
genre with global genres such as jazz, for example, as a new and intense focus on
improvisation, which has drawn attention to formal structures and performing hybrid
performances. The intensification of cultivation of Jazz in the country and later the
emergence of Bossa Nova in the mid-twentieth century, it seems, interfered markedly in the
improvisation of gender, providing new composers to invest in new procedures related to this
harmonic American genre. Given this circumstance, this study aimed to investigate the
technical and cultural implications resulting from the interference of different harmonics in
procedures related to the processes of improvisation and musical genre choro in this context
not only seek melodic and harmonic innovations, but also processes of identity implicated in
processes of cultural hybridization.

Previous issue date: 2011-10-25 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Having as corpus of study four texts from the baiano poet Pedro Kilkerry (1885-1917) usually taken as examples of poetic prose, the main objective of this research is to analyze these texts in the light of the literary genre developed and broadcasted by Baudelaire: the poem in prose, hybrid genre that enlaces characteristics from poetry and prose. As a dialogic genre, the poem in prose tends to apart from the unitary and traditional language of the lyrical genre, considered as monologic in the theory of Bakhtin. To conduct these reflections, the following proposals were developed: the poems in prose of Kilkerry manifest both the presence of the modernist tradition of Baudelaire, in which unite criticism and irony, as the more hermetic and symbolical of Mallarmé and Rimbaud; the poems in prose of Kilkerry, in comparison with the author s work in verse, represent a literary field favorable for both the development of the ironic-criticism as the inscription of a new poetical language, protagonist's own speech. The bases for the work are the reflections over the prose and poetry elaborated by Mikhail Bakhtin, Gaston Bachelard, Octavio Paz and Edgar Morin, besides the concepts on the prose poem formulated by Suzanne Bernard and María Torremocha. Starting with the correlation between the theoretical fundaments and the analysis of the composition of the four poems in prose of Kilkerry, it is demonstrated how, inside them, the presence of the esthetic modern-symbolist takes place, outlining the articulations between the lyrical and the prosaic, outlining the critical-ironical aspect of the texts / Tendo como corpus de estudo quatro textos do poeta baiano Pedro
poética, o objetivo central desta pesquisa é analisar estes textos no âmbito do

A long epic cycle written at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries built up the chanson of Huon de Bordeaux. What scholars call the Chanson d’Yde et Olive, to intend the third sequel, unites three different episodes, Yde et Olive I, Croissant and Yde et Olive II, which relate the adventures of the granddaughter and the great-grandson of the hero of Bordeaux. In my thesis, I propose a new critical edition, a commentary and a study of the transmission in Italy of these heretofore unrecognized texts which represent a typical sample of the late chansons de geste. In the 13th and 14th centuries, epic draws from the same narrative patterns as the tales, the hagiographic legends, the novels and the dramas. Furthermore, Yde et Olive I has undoubtedly contributed to transmit Yde’s fabulous history beyond the Alps, as the plot of the Italian cantari of Antonio Pucci and Piero da Siena seems to prove. So at the boundary between orality and writing, the Chanson d’Yde et Olive interacts with several texts belonging to different literary genres, enriches an imaginary which does not know any border, interrogates the established order and finally confronts us with the boundary of male/female divides.

Immigrant Experience in Jhumpa Lahiri¡¦s The NamesakeTang, Ling-yao 27 July 2007 (has links)
This thesis aims at exploring the consequences of migration in Jhumpa Lahirir¡¦s novel The Namesake. Set in India and America, the story represents such immigrant experiences as the clash of cultures, the conflicts of assimilation, and the tangled ties between generations. In addition to introduction and conclusion, the thesis consists of three chapters, devoted respectively to issues of nostalgia, identity, and cultural hybridity. Chapter One explores the way nostalgia affects the Ganguli family in their daily life, including such aspects as food, clothing, their circle of friends, festivals and celebrations. To analyze Indian immigrants¡¦ longing for home and their attempts to retain homeland culture, I employ Svetlana Boym¡¦s theory on nostalgia, wherein two kinds of nostalgia are distinguished: the restorative and the reflective. Chapter Two focuses on immigrants¡¦ identity formation. The process of identity formation is associated with naming and generational problems. I adopt the Freudian theory of the Oedipus complex to explain the father-son conflicts: how the protagonist defies his father as well as the name given by him. Then, drawing upon Cathy Caruth¡¦s concept of traumatic awakening, I trace how the protagonist reconciles with his father and reaches maturity. Chapter Three examines how immigrants come to invent a hybrid cultural identity. I employ Homi Bhabha¡¦s concepts of in-bewteenness and the Third Space to point out the interplay of the Bengali heritage and the dominant American culture, which results in the phenomenon of a new, dynamic, and mixed culture. With globalization, borders and boundaries are constantly changing so that migration comes to be typical of human condition. In this sense, the immigrant experience stated in The Namesake foregrounds problems which might be encountered by all diasporas.
