Ilustração brasileira (1854-1855) e a ilustração luso-brasileira (1856, 1858, 1859): uma contribuição para o estudo da imprensa literária em língua portuguesa / \'Ilustração Brasileira\' (1854-1855) and \'A Ilustração Luso-Brasileira\' (1856, 1858,1859): a contribution to the study of the literary press in Portuguese language

This dissertation entitled \"Ilustração Brasileira (1854-1855) and A Ilustração Luso-Brasileira (1856, 1858, 1859): a contribution to the study of the literary press in Portuguese language\" was carried out to demonstrate that, in Brazil, the illustrative press began with the publication of Ilustração Brasileira, since no former publication gave such a great emphasis and special prominence to the \"illustrative model\" as the magazines at issue did, what can be confirmed by analyzing the Brazilian journals which preceded it. It was also proved that the publication of the magazine A Ilustração Luso-Brasileira (1856, 1858, 1859) followed a tradition of the ascendant Portuguese illustrative press. This dissertation also broaches the relevance of both illustrations to the study of the Portuguese and Brazilian Romantic literatures, as well as the role played by each literature in the development process of the literary and illustrative press in each of those countries, and additionally presents a separate volume of the table of contents classified according to the categories of texts published in each of those magazines.

Att lita till läsaren : Om impressionistiskt berättande i Stig Claessons författarskap med utgångspunkt i romanen Brev till en hembygdsgård / Trusting the reader : On impressionistic narrating in Stig Claesson's writings with the novel Brev till en hembygdsgård as starting point

Malmsborg, Thomas January 2014 (has links)
The objective of this paper – Trusting the reader: On impressionistic narrating in Stig Claesson's writings with the novel Brev till en hembygdsgård as starting point – is to examine narrative techniques used by the Swedish author Stig Claesson, specifically some which fall within the broad field known as literary impressionism: e.g. omission, repetition, juxtaposition, episodic narration and how access to the narrator’s as well as individual characters' consciousness is handled. The method used for the study will be that of illustrative comparison. The analysis will seek its theoretical grounds in the works by Gerard Genette and Jonathan Culler. In the major parts of the study, narrative techniques used by Claesson in the novel Brev till en hembygdsgård (1974), is examined with the help of Robert Paul Lamb and James Nagel, and their studies concerning the crafts of Ernest Hemingway and Stephen Crane. In addition, other novels by Claesson are used in order to find, illustrate and then compare his craftsmanship with techniques already studied and described by scholars and critics. The main result from the analysis is that a need to trust the reader follows from Claesson’s choice of narrative techniques; by having the narrating instance mainly represent perception – without allowing the narrator, or the characters of the narrative, to interpret what’s rendered – the reader is left to experience sensation on her own. To assist the reader, Claesson binds together his episodic narration with a frequent use of juxtaposition, in which colors, objects and scenes already used, are re-used – hence having one scene charge the next, and so on, with previously evoked emotions. Furthermore, Claesson frequently uses omission in conjunction with repetition as a narrative technique; often when the narrator returns to an already used scene, she is excluding some of the information given to the reader earlier in exchange for some previously omitted information or for elements belonging to other scenes. The study finds that a consequence of Claesson’s combination of the above mentioned techniques, is that his texts calls for a reader to take an active part in creating meaning both from the text and from their own experience. Finally, the study suggests that Claesson, like any craftsman, recognized that once the work is done and delivered, it is up to the recipient to use it according to their own ability, imagination and discretion.

Žánrové očekávání od reklamní fotografie v časopisech od roku 1970 do současnosti / The genre expectation from an advertising photography in magazines from 1970 up to the present

Kubíčková, Lucie January 2018 (has links)
1 Abstract This master's thesis deals with a genre expectation from an advertising photography in magazines from 1970 up to the present. The intent of a theoretical part of the master's thesis is to characterize the advertising photography and compare it with other photographic genres such as journalistic, documentary or artistic photography, because each of those genres is characterized by different modes and so, each carries considerably diverse expectations. And thus, an attention is paid especially to a photography composition within the scope of those individual genres. However, in connection with the comparison of the advertising and journalistic photography, I also focus on regulations, which limit these genres. Further, the aim of this thesis is to map the limits of the genre of the advertising photography and depict, with the use of the particular examples, what stereotypes, prejudices and standards are used in the creation of the advertising photographs and how it ends up, when they are broken. Nevertheless, in the theoretical part I also deal with it, what does it mean a term illustrative photography and where this term is used. The practical part of the master's thesis makes it the goal to clarify, thanks to a research method of a qualitative analysis, what female readers of the lifestyle...

Factors influencing the migration of teachers from Zimbabwe to South Africa

Weda, Zenzele Lungile 12 1900 (has links)
Zimbabwe is suffering from an acute shortage of teachers mainly as a result of teacher emigration to South Africa and abroad. The southern migration of Zimbabwean teachers has received little research attention which has mainly focused on the migration of medical personnel. The purpose of this study is to uncover the factors that drive the migration of teachers from Zimbabwe to South Africa and to explain how these factors function within a grounded theory approach to teacher migration. To achieve this, a review of literature and an empirical study of a small sample of migrant Zimbabwean teachers resident in South Africa were undertaken. A constructivist grounded theory design was used. A theoretical sampling method generated a sample group of thirteen participants who were all qualified Zimbabwean teachers who had migrated to South Africa and been in the country for between one and five years. Data generation and collection consisted of two phases: in the first phase the participants were asked to write a life history narrative or provide a verbal narrative of their life history focussing on their migration. In the second phase they participated in individual interviews to clarify or expand on issues raised in the first phase. Three stages of coding were used in the analysis of the data, namely initial, intermediate and advanced coding. This led to the generation of a grounded theory on teacher migration. The grounded theory indicated that Zimbabwean teachers see migration as the best way to attain an ideal status. An ideal status is conceived to be the ideal interplay between the work conditions, standard of living and social esteem which teachers believe befits members of their profession. Depending on various criteria, teachers fall into one of the following status categories: further diminished status, diminished status, ideal status or ideal status surpassed. Migration is a drastic and demanding way to improve one’s status and it is adopted by teachers only after other strategies to this end have been exhausted. Weighed against existing theories of migration, the grounded theory contributes to understanding teacher migration and retention through the innovative use of the core category status. / Educational Studies / D. Many categorical and functionalist studies on image and word are, here, thought over and applied: Roland Barthes (1972); Roman Jakobson (1985); Kibédi-Varga (1989); Luís Camargo (1998), Rui de Oliveira (1998), among other proposals of studious and artists involved in child s book illustration. We are trying to demonstrate the fable reinvention of the child s book, taking from the illustrated pages since oral narrative versions to Eva Furnari s imagetic narrative and pieces of other contemporary illustrator authors, intending to find a methodology to read the space, understood as the place of language creation. The outcome of the interaction between the artistic graphic project and the literary project is the illustrator text, space of reading experience and using the image interrelated to the word. This analytic and interpretative study came out of questions concerning to the relation between autonomy and the complementarity of image and word observed in the illustrative polissemic Furnari s works and others. During the preparation of this study, questions on the reading expression under the author s and the reader s imaginary, favoring the understanding of reading ages, beyond the verbal and visual reading hierarchy to be observed in young reader s formation. Chapter I deals with the illustration historicity, emphasizing the relationship word-image statute, in autonomy and interdependence, offering conjectures to the visual approach for child s books pages. The chapter II focuses on the thematic importance of the written project facing the interactive experience between the imaginary project and the verbal one considered as a text, space of language production. The third one presents a dialog on the bidimensional physical space of Furnari s books pages and other illustrators in order to apply the methodology and the final results related to the illustrative text semantics / O objetivo central desta dissertação é a leitura do processo ilustrador do livro infantil à luz das relações palavra e imagem nas obras da escritora-ilustradora Eva Furnari, a serem investigadas sob a perspectiva das funções poética e expressiva.

Demonstrace jako prostředek názornosti v chemickém vzdělávání / Demonstrations as an illustrative tool in chemistry education

Hájková, Zdeňka January 2014 (has links)
Demonstrations are considered an important illustrative tool in chemistry education. Quite often teachers use demonstrations of experiments and multimedia demonstrations. Besides, "non-experimental" demonstrations might also be useful, such as material models and demonstrations based on macroscopic analogy that can be usually carried out only with household items and materials. This dissertation is especially aimed at selecting appropriate demonstrations, at their design, development and use of "non-experimental" demonstrations. Moreover, special attention was paid to the interdisciplinary demonstrations concerning the nanoworld, so called "nanodemonstrations". All "nanodemonstrations" presented are safe, cheap and rather timesaving. Furthermore, they can be carried out in a form of lecture and / or students' demonstration. Newly created as well as adopted (and modified) "nanodemonstrations" were collected into the Czech database of "nanodemonstrations". The database was additionally accompanied with following educational materials concerning "nano": two PowerPoint presentations, worksheets that supplement students' "nanodemonstrations" and worksheets with interdisciplinary tasks. This thesis also deals with the evaluation of "nanodemonstrations" and worksheets in secondary school classes. The...

Steenkamp, Susanna Magdalena Petra 06 1900 (has links)
Proj~ksie is 'n belangrike aspek in kinderterapie. / This research is aimed at showing that the inkblot method with reference to the Rorschach method - as projective technique, can be applied for diagnosis and therapy. Projection is important in child therapy. Repetative use of projective techniques prejudices the effectivity thereof. In her work with children of different cultures, the researcher found that they were inclined to do projections from their inkblots. This resulted in the present research. Through the use of the inkblot method; * information which was gathered through the use of other projective techniques, and possibly lost, can be gained; * information regarding the psychological structure of the child for diagnosis and therapy, can be gathered. These findings were verified by means of including existing projective techniques. Twenty pupils were involved in two idiographic studies and illustrative examples. It was found that the inkblot method as additional projective technique can be used effectively in child therapy and diagnosis. / Psychology of Education / M. Ed. (Spesialisering in Voorligting)
