Braz, Jamil Monte 10 April 2008 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T14:59:45Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 2008 - Jamil Monte Braz.pdf: 328071 bytes, checksum: 176c3f850beea04e09748a13beaf240f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-04-10 / The present work was conducted in the Swine Experimental Unity of the UFRRJ Animal Science Institute, from august to november, 2005, to evaluate different levels of barley bagasse included in diets for swines in growing phase, from 35 to 60 kg of live weight. It was used 20 crossbreed gilts, with 35 kg on average of live weight, in a randomized blocks experimental design with five treatments, and four blocks. The five levels of barley bagasse inclusion were 0, 12.5, 25, 37.5 and 50%, replacing the ration based on the dry matter of the reference ration (0% of inclusion). The performance variables ration intake (RI), barley bagasse intake (BBI), total feed intake (TFI), daily ration intake (DRI), daily barley bagasse intake (DBBI), daily feed intake (DFI), total body weight gain (TWG), daily body weight gain (DWG) and feed conversion (FC), also carcass characteristics and weights of organs and visceras were submitted to variance and polynomial regression analysis. It was observed linear reduction on RI and quadratic effect on all the other performance parameters evaluated. The BBI increased with the BB increasing level while TFI increased until 14.91% then decreasing after this level of inclusion. A quadratic effect was observed on DRI and DBBI while DFI increased until the level of 15.00% then decreasing after this level of inclusion. TWG and DWG increased until levels of 12.89 and 14.00% respectively, then decreasing after this level of inclusion. The FC improved progressively until 13.34% of inclusion then getting worse after this level of inclusion. Were evaluated: hot carcass weight (HCW), cold carcass weight (CCW), carcass length (CL) and carcass yields (CY), backfat thickness (BT), ham weight (HW) and ham yield (HY), palette weight (PW) and palette yield (PY), lomb weight (LW) and lomb yield (LY), and loin eye area (LEA). It was observed a quadratic effect on HCW and a linear reduction effect on PW and PY, as the level of barley bagasse inclusion was increased in the swines diets, with none influence on the other carcass characteristics. The Weights of gastro-intestinal tracts (GIT), viscera (VISC), stomach (SW) and liver (LW) were evaluated. There was not any influence on the weights of these last variables due to the level of BB in the growing phase diet. It was observed linear reduction in the feeding cost (FCT) and quadratic effect in the cost per unit of gain (CPUG), which decreased until 22.72% and increasing after this level of BB inclusion. The best level of BB inclusion in diets for swines in growing phase would be 14.91% for higher total DM intake, 12.89% for higher bodyweight gain and 13.34% for the best feed conversion. BB can be included in the growing diet up to 17,36%, without compromising the carcass quality of swines slaughtered at 100 kg of liveweight. BB can be included up to 22.72% in diets of swines in growing phase for reduction of the feeding costs.

As a result, this research introduces a more realistic viewpoint and dynamic framework that is based on convergence and that allows migration and iteration rather than today’s static approach. The framework, named the brand leverage palette, introduces various nuances between different leverage strategies, both adding clarity and offering guid-ance by explaining different migration movements among today’s brand portfolios.

Factors for maintaining successful business partnerships : A case study of the construction equipment industry

Atzmüller, Albin, Kamande, Sylvia, Sundblad, Michael January 2011 (has links)
As organisations try to emerge from the recent economic downturn, they attempt to enter different markets to decrease their dependency on their core market. Due to high costs in R&D and the risk of failure, organisations try to sell the core components of their products to business partners who can incorporate these components into their own offering. Using a qualitative research method, we studied the case of TACHI as a player in the construction equipment industry. The purpose of the research was to find factors for maintaining successful business partnerships within this industry and also the role of co- branding in these business partnerships. After analysing the results of our study and reflecting on the theoretical framework, we concluded that operational compatibility, and commitment and trust were considered as the key factors that were most important in making business partnerships work successfully. Interestingly, players in the construction equipment industry do not consider co-branding as a strategy for entering new markets. However, we discovered a new phenomenon, which is informal branding, and we recommend this as a topic for future research.

The present study had as objectives to investigate and evaluate the possible contribution that the requirement of registration of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), established by the Resolução da Diretoria Colegiada of ANVISA Nr. 57/2009, as of 2010, had on the establishment of the regulatory isonomy between the producer of the API in Brazil and the international producer as well as the effectiveness this isonomy had in the reestablishment of the local production of APIs, when applied in parallel with the implementation of other actions demanded by the Brazilian pharmochemical industry, like the tax isonomy, the fiscal incentives, the partnerships for the productive development and the State buying power. The investigation involved bibliographic, documental and longitudinal analysis of the material available. It was concluded that, after two years since the beginning of the registration requirement, it turned out to be effective in bringing up the desired regulatory isonomy. However, the space of time used for the analysis was not sufficiently long to ensure that the registration, coupled with other governmental actions to promote the local production of APIs, could have been capable to promote the increase, via substitution of importations, of these products, although there are some signs that this will happen. As a consequence it is expected that it will bring an increase of the API production and the reduction of the Brazilian dependence of external supply, giving space to the internal offer of these products to the pharmaceutical laboratories located in Brazil, either public or private, besides improving the quality and the access of the medicines made available to the Brazilian society.

O OVF teve a maior EM (9088 kcal/kg), seguido do OS (8850 kcal/kg) e do SB (8032 kcal/kg). / There are few studies on fat digestibility by cats. These animals have a high ability of digesting fat, but fat digestibility might decline with age. This paper report two experiments, the first studied the metabolizable energy (ME) and digestibility of fat and fatty acids from soybean oil (SO), poultry fat (PF) and tallow (T). Sixty cats were used, distributed in 10 foods, one reference diet (RD) and 9 test diets. Test diets were composed by the addition of 5%, 10% or 15% of the ingredient in study to a RD. Results show that SO and PF have higher fat and fatty acids digestibilities than tallow. For all three ingredients polyunsaturated fatty acids showed higher digestibility than saturated and monounsaturated ones. The fatty acids C20:2 and C20:4 showed 100% digestibility. The PF showed the highest ME (9088 kcal/kg), followed by OS (8850 kcal/kg) and tallow (8032 kcal/kg). The second experiment analyzed the effects of the substitution of 3.5% and 7% of the diet’s acid hydrolyzed fat (AHF) for soybean lecithin on food digestibility and ME by adult and senior cats. The senior cats showed lower digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein and crude energy. They have also exhibited lower diet ME. AHF digestibility were similar between diets and ages, showing no effect of lecithin. The senior cats showed lower digestibility of C18:0 and higher digestibility of C14:0 and C17:0 than adult ones. Both groups showed an apparent digestibility of 100% for C20:4, C20:5, C22:3 fatty acids. The addition of lecithin reduced the digestibility of C20:3n3 to senior cats, but did not alter the digestibility for adult ones.

This is the reality of the food industry that adopts technological and organizational changes in their productive processes, the materials supply and the products distribution, mainly for products differentiation. These changes evidence the suppliers and distributors growing to the food processed supply chain. Then, the importance of this study: its contribution for the understanding of the supplier s paper in the new beverage development process. Besides, the researched theme has relevance considering the shortage of works that analyze the relationship of ingredients suppliers in the food chain. It is had as presupposition, based on the literature, that the supplier involvement in the product development process propitiates time and cost reduction in the product development, quality improvement of the acquired materials and larger access facility and technology application. The analysis of the suppliers involvement in the supply chain focused in their participation in the buyer s new product development process, narrowing to the ingredients suppliers. This work was developed with multiple cases studies in four companies of the segments of no alcoholic drinks (fresh juice and powdered soft drinks) and drunk milky and a common ingredient supplier to those companies. Those segments were chosen due to the great growth of the demand by these products, given the appeal of their functional (health) and convenience (comfort). It was observed, mainly, that the responsibility degree of the supplier in the product development is function of its technical competence (knowledge and experience). It was also verified that the supplier s participation that happens in the initial phases of the new beverage process development, facilitates the access and technology application in the food product development process.

Grünspan, Lauren Dockhorn 17 December 2015 (has links)
Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2016-04-29T13:43:16Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Lauren Dockhorn Grunspan.pdf: 2281256 bytes, checksum: 5ed8d708e6f55d2418086df48fc4f6ac (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-29T13:43:16Z (GMT). Unfortunately, around 30% of epileptic patients still suffer with refractory epilepsy. Metal ions have been frequently incorporated into pharmaceuticals for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes and the research. In this study, we access the embryo toxicity and anticonvulsant activity of 4 novel metallodrugs, with Zn+2 and Cu+2, derivative with valproic acid and the N-donor ligand in adult zebrafish pentylenetetrazole epileptic seizure model. [Cu(Valp)2Bipy] LC50 in 48 Hours Post Fertilization (hpf) was 0.22 μM and 0.12 μM in 96 hpf followed by [Zn(Valp)2Bipy] (LC50 = 10 μM). This same metallodrugs ([CuValp)2Bipi] 10 mM/Kg and [Zn(Valp)2Bipi] 30 mM and 100 mM/Kg) displayed a superior activity reducing the seizure intensity compared to Sodium Valproate (175 mM/Kg). As conclusion, among all, the [Cu(Valp)2Bipi] showed the best anticonvulsant effects, but due to its toxic effects on embryos and larvae, the [Zn(Valp)2Bipi] should be considered the most promising for future studies as anticonvulsant drug.
