Le management interculturel : Le processus d'intégration des juniors en cabinet d'audit au Luxembour, en Espagne, au Royaume-Uni et en France / Intercultural management : integration process of juniors in auditing firms in Luxembourg, Spain, Great Britain and France

Ferrand, Olivier 18 January 2008 (has links)
Nous verrons les relations que ces formations entretiennent respectivement avec les notions de sensibilité interculturelle et de compétence interculturelle / Numerous companies are confronted with the problems from the practice of the management in different cultural contexts or with international teams resulting from different cultures. The relocation of certain activities of the company, their commercial expansion towards new markets, the appeal to suppliers distant and situated in various countries, the development of the immigration create obstacles to the clarification of uniform manager procedures and a delay in decision-making because of the cultural factors connected with the manager decisions. The end of the company is to make benefit for the shareholders, the employees, the community and the authorities. Diverse factors faciliate the development of the multinational companies implanted in diverse markets with teams of employees, workers of different culture; among which notably the globalization of markets and new techniques of information and communication which incite companies to standardize the organization and the working procedures in all their activities.

Ruiz Bernardo, María Paola 01 March 2012 (has links)

Understanding Intercultural Transitions and Migrant-Host Relationships: How Empathy, Social Support, and Intercultural Competency Facilitate Positive Intercultural Interactions Between German Citizens and Refugees

January 2017 (has links)
abstract: In 2015, Germany was at the center of one of the largest displacements in history as upwards of a million refugees, many from Syria, fled to Germany. In my study, I was fortunate enough to spend three months living in Germany and interacting with Germans and refugees to hear their stories of positive intercultural interaction. Through the integration of Acculturation Theory (Berry, 1980), Cross-Cultural Adaptation Theory (Y.Y. Kim, 1980), and Coordinated Management of Meaning Theory (Pearce & Cronen, 1980) I conducted a qualitative research project where I interviewed 44 individuals representing both German citizens (25) and refugees (19) and collected their stories of positive intercultural interactions with one another. These stories affirmed the importance of intercultural competency, social support, and empathy as core elements of positive interaction providing a platform to create future initiatives grounded in these elements as others engage in intercultural transitions and develop migrant-host relationship. Furthermore, this research underscored the need to address both host and migrant experiences during intercultural transitions being sure not to privilege either group when seeking positive paths to facilitate interaction. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Communication 2017

Academic knowledge and intercultural strategies among students and graduated from the Instituto Intercultural Ñöñho / Saberes escolares y estrategias interculturales en estudiantes y egresados del Instituto Intercultural Ñöñho

Mira Tapia, Alejandro 05 April 2018 (has links)
This article is based on a two-year ethnographic research that analyzes the process of professionalization and community work experiences of students and graduates of the Instituto Intercultural Ñöñho (IIÑ), a small indigenous university located in the ñöñho (otomí) region of the southern Mexican state of Querétaro. Among the main findings it presents that these actors collectively build and display a set of intercultural strategies (Bertely, 1997) to intervene in three issues: (i) the local socio-economic marginalization conditions, (ii) the cultural and language shift, (iii) and the violence within the socialization spaces of the youths.; all these through the sociocultural application of their academic knowledge. Firstly, this study puts in historical perspective the different paths of indigenous professionalization that have existed in the Mexican context. Subsequently, it offers a contextualization of the IIÑ and of the pedagogical profile of its degree program in Solidarity Economics. Finally, it describes the intercultural strategies produced by the students and graduates from this indigenous university, departing from the assertion of their own ethnicity within their schooling process.

The study abroad experience : Self-reflecting on the development of intercultural competence and identity after one semester abroad

Wysocka, Patrycja January 2017 (has links)
Study abroad programmes have become popular among students around the world nowadays. Thanks to the participation in the exchange, students are able to improve their intercultural skills, which may be beneficial for them in their future careers. This study investigates students’ development of intercultural competence and identity after spending one semester at the university in Hong Kong. Its main focus is to analyse how study abroad programmes impact students’ abilities in intercultural communication by analysing their self-reflections towards their re-invented identities as well as the overall experience of living and studying in a different country. The whole study is also based on the concept of linguistic repertoire, which is here being updated in the context of globalisation. In order to collect the data, four participants from the Netherlands, Germany and Canada were asked to fill in initial contact forms by providing information about one specific intercultural encounter that they have experienced during the study abroad period. This information then acted as the background knowledge used in the following interviews with each participant, where their opinions have been further developed in more detail. The results show that the participants further developed their skills in intercultural competence as well as enhanced their already interculturally-oriented identities. As for the impact on their linguistic repertoires, the interesting finding shows that the linguistic repertoires of the participants with English as a second language might have been affected slightly more than those of the native speakers. In the end, these results agree with the previous research on the development of intercultural skills after the study abroad period and highlight the importance of participating in study abroad programmes as students become prepared for their future careers in the highly globalised world.

To takean intercultural approach in teaching : A study of four teachers' descriptions and practical application of an intercultural approach in teaching situations

Karaca, Ebru January 2016 (has links)
In this thesis, a study was made of four teachers’ perception and application of an intercultural perspective in their teaching practice. The purpose was to investigate how the teachers describe to use an intercultural approach in teaching situations and how they achieve it in social studies. The study aimed to answer the questions below: - How do the teachers perceive the concepts of multicultural, multicultural education and intercultural approach and what do they assume is the purpose of an intercultural approach? - How do the teachers adapt teaching from an intercultural perspective? * - Which advantages and difficulties/hindrance do the teachers consider occur in the enabling of an intercultural approach? - In which way do the teachers make an intercultural approach possible in their teaching practice in social studies? The methods used to answer these questions where qualitative one-on-one interviews and observations of the teachers during class in social studies. The theories used to analyse the material was based on theories on different intercultural approaches and strategies in teaching and the frame factor theory. As a conclusion, this study finds that the teachers in the study are aware of the possibilities and benefits of an intercultural approach. Furthermore, the results show that the way the intercultural approach is utilized in the teaching practice differs from teacher to teacher and that the teachers focus on similar and different aspect of the intercultural approach. However, this study also shows that they teachers feel various difficulties working with an intercultural approach such as the schools’ resources and teaching in different matters and contexts. Which is consistent with previous research?

Cultural resistance and native testimonio in the Americas : a study of the life stories by Juan Pérez Jolote, Nuligak Kriogak and An Antane Kapesh

Dominguez, Luis January 2012 (has links)
This thesis explores native testimonies in Canada, Mexico, and Quebec written between 1950 and 1980. The goal of this research is to study the strategic use of life writing and the testimonial genre by Native subjects in particular in their struggle for self-governance, cultural recognition and survival in order to talk back to the dominant neo/colonial culture. Testimonio allows Native voices to emerge in scriptocentric culture while questioning the authority of neo/colonial cultures and addressing important issues regarding Native survival. The focus of this study is how the use of testimonial writing allows Native cultures to renegotiate history, fight cultural misrepresentation and resist cultural assimilation. By finding new ways to transmit oral knowledge and traditional heritage, while undergoing the process of mediation, such as translation and/or editing, Native writers are able to judiciously use testimonio as an empowering tool for cultural survival. The truth claims found in these narratives are discussed individually in order to render a clearer picture about Natives' oppression in the Americas. This enables the socio-historical specificities of each Native discourse to emerge from various geopolitical contexts and to stand tall against neo/colonial oppression. In order to better understand how testimonio can put forward Native voices and demands, this study draws on testimonial theory from researchers such as John Beverley, George Yudice and Georg Gugelberger as well as on postcolonial and life-writing theory. According to these theorists, testimonio writing speaks urgently about oppression, marginalization and survival, often for political not just aesthetic This thesis studies life stories by Juan Perez Jolote, Nuligak Kriogak, and An Antane Kapesh as example of testimonio, by analysing the collaboration between the author/teller and the editor/translator; the cultural mis/representation within these narratives, and the resistance (if any) these works engage in. The use of native languages (especially: Tzotzil, Inuvialuktun, and Innu-aimun) at the early stages of the collaboration testifies to the ongoing cultural survival of the Chamula, the Inuvialuit, and of the Innu in the 20 th century. The political urgency of these testimonios can be observed at the different stages of the process of their liberation in each respective narrative.
