Fredman, Johanna January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to contribute experience and insights, based on an interdisciplinary collaboration that can enhance the learning environment for hard of hearing pupils and ultimately their knowledge development. Hard of hearing pupils have lower goal fulfillment than hearing pupils. With this thesis I want to highlight the insights the participants in the research circle made on the basis of written and verbal dialogue. A qualitative content analysis has been used as a method of analysis in this study where the focus has been on a search for the similarities and differences based on the participants' written reflections. The study shows that the participants in the research circle by using and internalizing various tools in the social interaction develops the ability to enter into dialogue with each other and themselves. Which leads to that meaning and understanding are created for each other's activities. By starting from everyday situations and activities the dialogue leads to insights and a deeper understanding of the other activity. The study shows how the participants in both practices, who elementary school and hearing habilitation forms, creates a collective memory that promotes collaboration. Which ultimately should benefit the pupils' knowledge development.

Design Thinking in Business Innovation

Gullberg, Gustav, Landström, Anders, Widmark, Erik, Nyström, Mikael January 2006 (has links)
The world is undergoing change and the disintegration of the old economy is becoming evident. Production is moving to low cost countries and competition is growing fierce. In order to stay competitive, companies around the world recognises the need to become more innovative. In order to achieve this it is imperative to balance and compliment the linear business thinking that still rule the managerial body. Leading research in this area suggest that the key to innovation in business development lies within the creative thinking of the design field. This paper describes a joint master degree project that seeks to test these theories and develop methods and protocols to put them into practice. So the question is, what happens when one use industrial  design as a tool to innovate business in the Creative Economy? The research group consists of four industrial designers from Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and four marketing students from School of Business, Stockholm University. During the project we applied action research and introspection in a case study where new business strategies where formulated for a live company as our empirical base. The process proved more difficult but also more rewarding than initially anticipated and resulted in several new potential strategies for the company while providing valuable insight and experience in interdisciplinary team work in this field. This paper presents suggestions to how design thinking and business thinking can be combined in the process of developing business strategies and accentuates some of the skills and qualities that inherently drive this process. The collaboration investigates the synergy between designers and business managers and illustrates the potential in combining these competences to find new ways to create, re-define and develop businesses in the creative economy.

An ethnographically informed analysis of design intent communication in BIM-enabled architectural practice

Abdelmohsen, Sherif Morad Abdelkader 05 July 2011 (has links)
The building information model (BIM) is assumed to encompass all the required parameters, rules and attributes about a design product and process for Architecture-Engineering-Construction (AEC) practitioners in a way that is comprehendible by all participants sharing the model and that communicates their needs and intentions. The socio-cognitive day-to-day interactions that occur in the workplace imply however that there are discrepancies between what is exchanged as design information when sharing a model and what is exchanged as goals, needs and possibly conflicting intentions and interests when sharing a common ill-structured problem. The findings of an ethnographic study are presented. The study investigates affordances and limitations in BIM-enabled practice regarding the communication of design intent among design teams in the context of an architectural project. Grounded theory coding was used as a basis for analytic induction through constant comparison and examination of data from field observation, interviews and design meetings, to identify emergent conceptual categories central to the research inquiry. A "thick description" was provided that took into account the dynamic interactions among teams, including interdisciplinary, intradisciplinary and non-disciplinary interaction. By dissecting hypothetical models of shared project information offered by BIM, the dissertation identified interfaces of information exchange, states of the BIM model as a boundary object, and emergent and overlapping communities of practice that delineate the degree of completeness and correctness of a BIM model and describe its effectiveness in capturing and conveying the intent of participants upon interaction. To draw parallels to other contexts, the assumptions central to the study were discussed in relation to a spectrum of possible scenarios within the larger population of AEC firms. In light of the findings and "persona" descriptions identified in the study, the dissertation examined and proposed amendments and richer descriptions to existing surveys and market reports that address the use and benefits of BIM in the AEC industry, including topics such as the internal business value of BIM, top ways to improve value of BIM, and impact of project factors on BIM value.

Společný ošetřovatelský lůžkový fond z pohledu sestry a managementu / Merged Nursing Inpatient Ward from the Perspective of Nurses and Management

VALEŠOVÁ, Hana January 2014 (has links)
Merged nursing inpatient ward is in the last few years becoming a trend of smaller, but also medium-sized hospitals. Due to the restructuring of beds of acute inpatient care in the Czech Republic, separate inpatient wards are merged to one joint ward, in the context of surgical as well as internal medicine. Merged inpatient ward is a combination of various disciplines (specialisms) of inpatient care under one senior consultant, or there is a common nursing ward, where senior consultants of individual disciplines are retained, while nursing care is merged. The main reason for the establishment of a merged inpatient ward is the optimization of beds and the related effective use of bed capacity in connection with an effort to preserve access to health care. The aim of the thesis Merged Nursing Inpatient Ward from the Perspective of Nurses and Management was to evaluate the contribution of a merged nursing inpatient ward, to identify the reasons for the project and the complications that accompanied the project. This research should analyze the problems in nursing care in connection with the origination of the project, to assess the demands of nursing on the ward and map errors in the field of nursing care in the context of the realization of the project. The thesis should evaluate interdisciplinary collaboration and map the occurrence of conflicts in a multidisciplinary team. During the survey it was found that the main reasons for the project were the financial savings associated with the restructuring of acute care beds in the Czech Republic. The establishment of a merged nursing inpatient ward helped the hospital to keep some expertise and it unified nursing care of the separate wards. In connection with the establishment of a joint nursing care, some complications and disadvantages that accompanied the project initially were analyzed. The survey showed how sensitively employees responded to the major change in the organization and how the cooperation between superiors and subordinates functioned. The study analyzed in what form the selection of employees for a common bed fund was realized and whether managers themselves could choose subordinates for their departments. One part of the research was the evaluation of the quality of nursing care on the merged inpatient ward, which showed that the establishment of the project did not have a negative impact on the quality of nursing care. In contrast, nursing care was united and there was also unified organization of nursing on the ward. The research evaluated the feedback from the subordinates to the top managers which was implemented through meetings and sessions. The survey refers to the greater workload on nurses in the working process on the merged ward. The origin of the project had an impact on the creation of new multidisciplinary teams and interdisciplinary collaboration. The project of a joint nursing inpatient ward was realized that the hospital can continue to provide quality health services to all patients. Research has shown that although the project had certain disadvantages and complications, it was certainly beneficial for the organization. The conclusions of the thesis may be presented in seminars, conferences and may be offered to professional journals for publication. The results of the research can help organizations that are going to realize the project of merged nursing inpatient ward.

Different views on dental care for patients with diabetes mellitus and coronary heart diseases between dentists and general practitioners: results of a questionnaire-based survey in a district of Germany

Reiss, Lucie Gwendolin 17 January 2020 (has links)

Exploratory study of psychological distress as understood by Pentecostal pastors

Mabitsela, Lethabo 18 February 2003 (has links)
The study is an exploratory investigation of Pentecostal pastors' perceptions on psychological distress, using grounded theory. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five senior pastors, of Pentecostal churches in Soshanguve township located near Pretoria in South Africa. Data was analysed using open, axial and selective qualitative research methods. Verification of the results by the participants enhanced the validity and reliability of the research. Results indicate that there seems to be certain similarities between the established frameworks in psychology and the worldview of pastors with regard to psychological distress. It seems as if the pastors share common views about psychological distress with the medical, interpersonal and cognitive schools of thought. Therefore, psychological distress would be regarded as impairment in the social and occupational life spheres. The pastors' referral patterns and strategies to deal with religious clients' psychological distress are discussed, as well as their limitations as mental health care workers for their communities. It is suggested that, to bring psychological services to the black community, psychologists form collaborative relationships with Pentecostal pastors. / Thesis (MA(Clinical Psychology))--University of Pretoria, 2003. / Psychology / unrestricted

Ämnesövergripande arbetssätt –ur ett lärarperspektiv igymnasieskolan : En empiristyrd tematisk analysstudie / Interdisciplinary working methods –from a teacher perspective in upper secondary school

Lundell, Bertil January 2019 (has links)
Interdisciplinary working methods has both a long history and generate good results and yet it has a relatively hidden position within the educational system. How come, is it too difficult? Or are there other reasons? This is the objective for this study. This study will describe the experiences teachers, in the upper secondary school, express while working within interdisciplinary working methods. The study has been performed by a number of interviews and analyzed with applied thematic analysis framework. The result of the study shows that the themes the interviewees describe are; the subjects and combinations of those, ways of working, the students, the colleagues, the results and the prerequisites. The collaboration between the teachers is not a walk in the park, however the lack of time to perform planning and coordination are the major obstacles preventing successful interdisciplinary working methods. The importance of the enthusiasts is another result of the study. One conclusion is that the informants do not naturally thought about their own teaching of several subjects as a cross-disciplinary approach. The most common form of interdisciplinary working method is the project form. Another conclusion is that: when the follow-up is done, it is the work method that is evaluated and not the students' knowledge.
