Jsme na jedné lodi: nízkoprahové centrum pro ženy bez domova / We are all in the same boat: low-threshold facility for homeless women

Jírová, Renata January 2020 (has links)
1 Abstract This diploma thesis aims to describe the practices of the low-threshold center for homeless women "Mezi svými" by which the principles of critical social work are being executed and negotiated in the broader context of "antiradical" Czech social work (Valová and Janebová, 2015) and its discourse "reintegration ". In general, social work is expected to provide its clients with protection against social exclusion or to support their reintegration into society. However, in a situation where employment is considered a key element of integration, social work gets into some difficulties because it cannot create jobs on its own (Castel, 2003). Hence I investigate how peer and social workers find a balance between 1) the ideals of critical social work that organizations subscribe to, and 2) the need to "integrate" women back into the system, activate them, and motivate them to find work. In seeking answers to this question, I pay special attention to the asymmetry of power that characterizes the relationship between social workers and their clients, and I observe the role that peer workers play in sharing power with clients. Key words: Feminist anthropology, intersection of disadvantages, critical social work, power, women in social distress, peer workers, reintegration, work.

Aroni Yallercco, Tony, Mantarí Cisneros, Marco Daniel 09 April 2021 (has links)
The following research proposes to implement measures of coupling of the infrastructure on the current design of the road geometry at the intersection of Av. José Matías Manzanilla with Av. J.J. Elías in Ica city; in order to improve the performance of urban road safety for pedestrians and vulnerable users. The proposals for these improvements are based on the recommendations of the Federal Highway Administration - FHWA of the United States, for the implementation of road safety elements in signalized intersections. In order to know the level of risk to road safety in the study area, the rush hour demand was determined for pedestrians passing through these avenues, by collecting volumetric data on the multimodal traffic flow. In addition, the information on the geometry of the intersection and the current characteristics of signal control devices and horizontal and vertical signaling were incorporated into the analysis. With the support of the information collected, the performance evaluation of the current situation of road safety was implemented with the free access program VIDA-IRAP. The results obtained indicated serious questions to the road safety of vulnerable users, which would be overcome with the implementation of the strategies recommended in this work. Likewise, the recommendations proposed in points 4.2.5. and 4.2.6. of Chapter 4 respectively, develop a checklist of pedestrian accommodation at signalized intersections, that can be included in an update of the Road Safety Manual (MTC, MSV; 2017); as well as a series of techniques and procedures for collecting information and classifying data from the sites under study, to apply operational modifications signal timing, which favor pedestrian safety and which can be included in an update of the Control Devices Manual of Automotive Traffic for Streets and Highways (MTC; MDCTACC, 2016). / Tesis

The broken circuit complex and the Orlik - Terao algebra of a hyperplane arrangement

Le, Van Dinh 17 February 2016 (has links)
My thesis is mostly concerned with algebraic and combinatorial aspects of the theory of hyperplane arrangements. More specifically, I study the Orlik-Terao algebra of a hyperplane arrangement and the broken circuit complex of a matroid. The Orlik-Terao algebra is a useful tool for studying hyperplane arrangements, especially for characterizing some non-combinatorial properties. The broken circuit complex, on the one hand, is closely related to the Orlik-Terao algebra, and on the other hand, plays a crucial role in the study of many combinatorial problem: the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial of a matroid are encoded in the f-vector of the broken circuit complex of the matroid. Among main results of the thesis are characterizations of the complete intersection and Gorenstein properties of the broken circuit complex and the Orlik-Terao algebra. I also study the h-vector of the broken circuit complex of a series-parallel network and relate certain entries of that vector to ear decompositions of the network. An application of the Orlik-Terao algebra in studying the relation space of a hyperplane arrangement is also included in the thesis.

Blansko - JOK Masarykova x Sušilova / Blansko - roundabout Masarykova x Susilova

Kočiš, Michal January 2022 (has links)
The subject of the thesis is a design of variants of the solutions of the existing intersection streets of Masarykova, Sušilova and Nádražní in the town of Blansko. The reason for its processing is to find out the possibility of a prospective solution of the intersection. The output of the work is proposed two variants and their comparison in terms of capacity and traffic. The work also contains an evaluation of the traffic survey, capacity assessment of prospective intensities, price estimation of both variants and verification of the passage of the roundabout. The proposed variants improve static transport in the area.

Stylistic techniques in the short stories of D.B.Z. Ntuli

Mabuza, James Khuthala Ntele 06 1900 (has links)
This is a semantic study, dealing with style and technique in the short stories of D. B. Z. Ntuli. The study as a whole analyses Ntuli' s first six volumes of short stories. The first chapter is an introduction, dealing with the aim of the study. The second sub-section after aim is Ntuli's biographical notes. Full details of this author from high school attendance to his contribution during his working experience are given. Ntuli's biography is followed by the scope of study. Under this sub-heading, short story volumes to be analysed are clearly stated. The fourth sub-heading is the method of approach and a conclusion. Chapter two deals with various types of repetition, a literary technique. It analyses Ntuli's use of language, and repetition of sentences approaching it from different angles. Chapter three and four deal with choice of words. The former chapter handles the various types of language elements semantically and the latter deals specifically with the ideophone. The ideophone is sub-divided into two sub-sections: classification and usage. Chapter five deals with proverbial expressions and these are sub-divided into two sections: idioms and proverbs. The usage of idiomatic expressions is discussed under: verbs, nouns and qualificatives, while the proverbs are analysed under classification and syntax. Imagery is dealt with in chapter six. Imagery is further sub-divided into four categories: metaphor, simile, personification and symbolism. Style and structure are discussed in chapter seven. In this chapter various elements of language forms are handled: types of sentenceidiophonic; negative forms of the ideophone, with conjunctives; sentences with adverbs; the demonstratives; titles of short story volumes and naming of characters. Chapter eight is the general conclusion, reflecting on Ntuli's style and technique with special emphasis on his unique use of the language. Reference is made to discoveries regarding the author's use of vocabulary, and his techniques in using repetition as well as avoiding it, which is part of his style. His choice of words and how he arranges them on paper is also discussed. Ntuli's choice of titles in naming his short story volumes is summed up showing that these have been influenced by his background. The study concludes by suggesting areas that still require further analysis in Ntuli 's short stories. / African Languages / D. Litt. et Phil. (African Languages)

Assessment of a prediction-based strategy for mixingautonomous and manually driven vehicles in an intersection / Utvärdering av en prediktionsbaserad metod för att blanda autonoma och manuella bilar i en korsning

NADI, ADRIAN, STEFFNER, YLVA January 2017 (has links)
The introduction of autonomous vehicles in traffic is driven by expected gains in multiple areas, such as improvement of health and safety, better resource utilization, pollution reduction and greater convenience. The development of more competent algorithms will determine the rate and level of success for the ambitions around autonomous vehicles. In this thesis work an intersection management system for a mix of autonomous and manually driven vehicles is created. The purpose is to investigate the strategy to combine turn intention prediction for manually driven vehicles with scheduling of autonomous vehicle. The prediction method used is support vector machine (SVM) and scheduling of vehicles have been made by dividing the intersection into an occupancy grid and apply different safety levels. Real-life data comprising recordings of large volumes of traffic through an intersection has been combined with simulated vehicles to assess the relevance of the new algorithms. Measurements of collision rate and traffic flow showed that the algorithms behaved as expected. A miniature vehicle based on a prototype for an autonomous RC-car has been designed with the purpose of testing of the algorithms in a laboratory setting.
