Previous issue date: 2008-04-23 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objective of this dissertation is the study of the linguistic-discursive strategies of the
laughable in Porque Lulu Bergatim não atravessou o Rubicon of José Cândido de
Carvalho. The author s work presents dozens of curious stories on the interior of the
country. Written in a very characteristic way, the narratives introduce funny personages
involved in unusual situations. The author's style is marked, mainly, by the use of the
comic exaggeration employed in ironies and metaphors. The present study included the
analysis of stories, their connection with the laughter and the brevity inherent to both. In
the present work the manifestation of the laughter was analyzed considering the
concepts discussed by the philosophers and theoretical from the Antiquity to the current
days. In the study it was verified that in the last centuries the comedian was own of the
inferior classes, lowered, with addictions and faults. Starting from the century XX the
laughter began to have value in the social relationships. In the contemporary theories,
the laughter exists to correct habits, to punish behaviors and to punish distracted, and it
can be expressed in four ways: in the forms and movements, in the situations, in the
words and in the character. The corpus was divided considering these four categories.
The analysis of the linguistic-discursive strategies of the laughter detached the
polissemic exploration happened in the stories not only by the use of the metaphors and
of the ironies, but also by the use of slangs, of alliterations, of hyperboles, of puns, of
strange names and of neologisms / O objetivo desta dissertação é estudar as estratégias lingüístico-discursivas do risível em
Porque Lulu Bergatim não atravessou o Rubicon de José Cândido de Carvalho. A obra
característica, as narrativas apresentam personagens divertidos envolvidos em situações
insólitas. O estilo do autor é marcado, principalmente, pelo uso do exagero cômico
empregado às ironias e às metáforas. O estudo abrangeu o gênero conto, sua ligação
com o riso e o laconismo inerente a ambos. Compreendeu a manifestação do riso a
categorias.

Previous issue date: 2007-05-10 / In this work, we made a study of novels Desmundo of Ana Miranda and Memorial do
Convento of José Saramago, specifically the narrative structure and feminine characters
Oribela and Blimunda.
The comparative method was used to promoving a dialogue between brazilian and
portuguese literature. The authors made a History s critical revision, when through
fiction, anonymous and stranger people had opportunity to show a new version of facts.
In this way, the forgetful people and everyone who were quiet or had kept in silence by
oficial history for years earned voice.
The fictional procedures and organization of narratives reveal ideological marks of past
that contrast with present, we have the time of history in direct confront with time of
writing.
Feminine characters are agents of social transformation, too. They keep themselves an
ideological speech which approach them to the present. They look into their reality, and
thought acute sense show us aspects of nature and human relationship had never seen
before.
The sensibility, capacity to appreciate the world and years of repression make the
feminine characters a spokeswomen of excluded people such as poors, women and
jewish beyond all persons who had an inadequate behaviour to pattern of period.
Therefore, our purpose was reveal the manner as writters articulated literature elements
mixing ideological aspects of present and past, history and fiction to build a ficcional
respectivas personagens Oribela e Blimunda.
A organização estética,

Previous issue date: 2006-11-28 / Some aspects of the educational cul ture in the State of Santa Catarina,
Brazil, in the 1850's are researched. The theme has been lit tle studied by
researchers in the history of education. Off icial documentation was
analyzed, such as reports of the president of the province, João José
Coutinho, of the director of public inst ruction and of the Liceu Provincial,
among others impor tant documents that appear with the reports, such as
letters, draf ts, autobiographies, books and others that help understand the
school dynamics that was in process at that moment. Besides these
sources, also the periodical news about Coutinho and the public instruction
was used to oppose to off icial documents. The catarinense education of that
period has characteristic traces of the moderate liberalism of the first
decades after Independence of Brazil. At the same time that it is
proclaimed as necessary, the inst ruction also is synonymous of danger.
Therefore, schools that differentiated rich and poor people were created.
The organization of time and space, the def inition of what to teach and
what material to use, the created regulation, the established forms of
control, ever more defined, contributed to the discipline, the hygiene and
the feeling of pat riotism. The norms and practices revolved around the
formation of values such as obedience to the catholic religion and love to
the establishment of the State / O objetivo da presente pesquisa é conhecer e apresentar aspectos da cultura
A cultura escolar catarinense
A organização do tempo e do espaço, a
instituições do Estado

Previous issue date: 2006-09-27 / Starting from the practice carried out by a Conselho de escola , between 1985
and 2000, this work analyzed the authoritarianism of the formal democracy that is
expressed in the relations between the State and the social demands, as the
shape of criminalization.
The pedagogical political project developed by this Conselho de Escola is
situated in the context of the implementation of the proposals of democratic
management in the public net of education of the State of São Paulo.
This project was fortified in the period between 1995 and 1998 with the
implementation of the first measures that take part of the reform of the State s
Public Education Net, still in course. Such measures, of neoliberal stamp, were
applied according to the educational changes for the Brazilian public sector
under the orientation of the Decenal Plan of Education For Everybody, made
official in 1993, delimited by the Conferência Mundial de Educação para todos
carried out in 1990.
The neoliberal projects expressed the objective of the reformulation of the role of
the State in the economy, with the financial and commercial opening, to the
process of desregulamentation of the legislation of the labor law and the
contention of the expense in the publics.
The neoliberal model started in Brazil, although the trial had started before, in the
government of Fernando Collor de Mello in 1989, getting deeper in Fernando
Henrique Cardoso s govern in 1994, being consolidated in the government of
Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, after 2003. In the State of São Paulo, the neoliberal
measures in the educational field were implemented during the govern of Mário
Covas, from 1995 to 1998, and triggered off in the deepening of questions that
contribute for the shrinkage of conquests that end up straightly in the access and
in the quality of the public education and bring a huge impact in the action of the
APEOESP.
The intervention inside the school studied is characterized by the increase of the
repression process realized by the State, during the 2000s / Partindo da prática realizada por um Conselho de Escola, no período de 1985 a

Previous issue date: 2009-05-14 / In Brazil, the critical conscience in relation to environmental degradation generally is identified as something recent, a problematic imported exogenous from countries developed by the influence of the international environmentalist movement whose expansion occurred during the sixties. However, some thinkers and researchers of different areas of the knowledge of the beginning of century XX seem to have helped with important contributions for genesis of the environmental thought and critical in the country a long time before than conventionally is thought as being the moment of origin of this type of discussion. The discussions that occurred about the environmental questions in the first decades of century XX would culminate, late in the thirties, in the establishment of the first legal mechanisms of protection to the nature and in the Primeira Conferência Brasileira de Proteção a Natureza. Organized by the Society of the Friends of the Trees, it counted on strong support and infrastructure of the Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro, being Alberto Jose de Sampaio, botanical and teacher of this institution, its reporter. By the relevance of the activities of Alberto Sampaio we made as central object of our studies his book Biogeographia Dynamica: a natureza e o homem no Brasil (1935). This dissertation begins with the presentation of our author, the historical, social, economic and political context in the thirties, and his participation in institutions as the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and civil organizations that dedicated its work to the conservationist cause. We also pointed out the importance of the research institutes and some personalities whose names had been linked up with the protection to nature, beyond treating to the first areas protected in Brazil and the main institutional instruments to protection to nature, and the Alberto Sampaio s ideals conservationists and for last, we present our final consideration, detaching that the concerns about the conservation and the preservation of the natural elements, in Brazil, is not so recent, as one suppose mistakenly / No Brasil, a consciência crítica em relação à degradação ambiental costuma ser identificada como algo recente, uma problemática exógena importada dos países desenvolvidos em decorrência da influência do movimento ambientalista internacional cuja expansão ocorreu durante a década de 1960.

Testing the seams of the American dream : minority literature and film in the early Cold WarBurns, Patricia Mary 26 September 2011 (has links)
Testing the Seams of the American Dream: Minority Literature and Film in the Early Cold War delineates the concept of the liberal tolerance agenda in early Cold War. The liberal tolerance message of the U.S. government, the Democratic Party, and others endorsed racial tolerance and envisioned the possibility of a future free from racism and inequality. Filmmakers in often disseminated a liberal message similar to that of the politicians in the form of “race problem” films. My shows how these films and the liberal tolerance agenda as a whole promises racial equality to the racial minority in exchange for hard work, patriotism, education, and a belief in the majority culture. My first chapter, “Washing White the Racial Subject: Hollywood’s First Black Problem Film,” performs a close reading of Arthur Laurents 1946 play Home of the Brave, which features a Jewish American protagonist, in conjunction with a reading of the 1949 film version, which has an African American protagonist. The differences between the two texts reveal the slippages in the liberal tolerance agenda and signal the inability of filmmakers to envision racial equality on the big screen. “The American Institution and the Racial Subject,” my second chapter, discusses the 1949 film Pinky as well as Américo Paredes’s George Washington Gómez and Monica Sone’s Nisei Daughter. All of these works suggests that the attainment of education promises entry into the mainstream by racial minorities, yet Paredes and Sone question this process by interpreting it as resulting in the dual segregation of their protagonists. My third chapter, “Earning and Cultural Capital: The Work that Determines Place,” looks at the promise that with hard work anyone can attain the American Dream. I show how the 1951 film Go for Broke!, Ann Petry’s The Street, and José Antonio Villarreal’s Pocho work to dispel this American myth. My final chapter, “The Regrets of Dissent: Blacklists and the Race Question,” examines the 1954 film Salt of the Earth alongside Chester Himes’s If He Hollers Let Him Go and John Okada’s No-No Boy to reveal the dangerous mixture of race and dissent in this era. / text

Neo-Latin America : the poetics of the "New World" in early modern epic : studies in José Manuel Peramás's 'De Invento Novo Orbe Inductoque Illuc Christi Sacrificio' (Faenza 1777)Feile Tomes, Maya Caterina January 2018 (has links)
This is an investigation of the epic poetry produced in and about the Ibero-American world during the early modern period (sixteenth to eighteenth centuries) in trilingual perspective: in addition to the more familiar Spanish- and Portuguese-language texts, consideration is also––and, for the purposes of the thesis, above all––given to material in Latin. Latin was the third of the international literary languages of the Iberian imperial world; it is also by far the most neglected, having fallen between the cracks of modern disciplinary boundaries in their current configurations. The thesis seeks to rehabilitate the Latin-language component as a fully-fledged member of the Ibero-American epic tradition, arguing that it demands to be analysed with reference not only to the classical and classicising traditions but to those same themes and concerns––in this case, the centre|periphery binary––as are investigated for counterparts when in Spanish or Portuguese. The crucial difference is that––while the ends may be the same––the means of thematising these issues derive in form and signifying power from interactions with the conceptual vocabularies and frameworks of the Greco-Roman epic tradition. How is America represented and New World space figured––even produced––in a poetic idiom first developed by ancient Mediterranean cultures with no conception whatsoever of the continent of the western hemisphere? At the core is one such long neglected Ibero-American Latin-language epic by a figure who lived across the Iberian imperial world: the 'De Invento Novo Orbe Inductoque Illuc Christi Sacrificio' (Faenza, 1777) by Catalan-born Jesuit José Manuel Peramás. Peramás’s epic––which has never been the subject of a literary-critical study before––is offered as a test case: an exercise in analysing a Latin-language Hispanic epic qua Hispanic epic and setting it into Ibero-American literary-cultural context. This is to be understood in relation to the field of so-called ‘New World poetics’: an at present emergent zone of inquiry within Iberian colonial studies which until now has been developing almost completely without reference to the Latin-language portion of the corpus.

Enfim, a limitação da ação sindical ao campo da resistência / Abstract: The purpose of this dissertation is to exam the ¿CUT leftwing¿, through the analysis of the tree most important representatives of this section of Brazilian unionism: the Metal Trade Union of Campinas, of Limeira and of São José dos Campos. The main purpose is to analyze the concrete practices of these unions and its results in the defense of workers. The general objective is, on turn, to offer, to the academic debate about Brazilian unionism, some empirical aspects and a theorical analysis about the ¿non propositive¿ union practice, relatively absent in the national literature on unionism. The research¿s results point out the benefits of the strategy and tactics of the studied unions whose objectives were the resistance to any right's reduction, the maintenance of class perspective, a strong anti-neoliberal perspective and the emphasis on worker's organization and political training. Those gains were empirically verified, specially, through the analysis of collective bargaining agreements and the maintenance of a significant union density. In addition, there is the refusal of the idea that ¿there is no alternative¿ to the unions¿ adjustment and moderation caused by the unfavorable worker's situation. Besides the research results also point out the difficulties posed to the leftist union¿s leaders by the deepening of capitalist exploitation processes and the increasing unemployment and work degradation fostered by new management techniques and the advance of neoliberal politics. These difficulties are related to organizing significant mobilizations and to have new militants, specially younger workers joining in, the lack of union¿s leaders regular rotation and the impossibility to avoid union¿s burocratization tendencies. In short, the limitation of union¿s action to the field of resistance / Mestrado / Relações de Trabalho e Organização de Interesses / Mestre em Ciência Política
