Hodnocení finančních derivátů / Valuation of financial derivatives

Matušková, Radka January 2012 (has links)
In the present thesis we deal with several possible approaches to financial de- rivatives pricing. In the first part, we introduce the basic types of derivatives and the methods of trading. Furthermore, we present several models for the valuati- on of specific financial derivative, i.e. options. Firstly we describe Black-Scholes model in detail, which considers that the development of the underlying asset price is governed by Wiener process. Following are the jumps diffusion models that are extension of the Black-Scholes model with jumps. Then we get to jump models, which are based on Lévy processes. Finally, we will deal with the model, which considers that the development of the underlying asset price is governed by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst's coefficient greater than 1/2. All models are suplemented with sample examples. 1

Processing and high temperature oxidation of dense Y2O3 partially stabilized ZrO2 matrix composite dispersed with 304L stainless steel particles.

Tarabay, Jinane 29 January 2013 (has links)
Ceramic matrix composite dispersed with metallic particles, called M(p)-CMC(s), are being developed for optimizing several functions of industrial components in severe atmospheres at high temperature. The corrosion of a model M(p)-CMC(s), based on 304L stainless steel and yttrium doped zirconia (304L(p)-ZrO2(s); 40%/60% in volume) is studied and compared with the oxidation behaviour of the stainless steel powders. The oxidation behaviour of the model 304L(p)-ZrO2(s) composite produced by powder metallurgy, studied by means of the thermogravimetry under 20 % O2 in helium at 800 °C, is presented. Oxidation curves show a fast increase in mass gain followed by slow one for the composite material. SEM observations and Auger spectroscopy measurements of the oxidized composite indicate an outward complex Cr and Fe rich oxide layer whereas Cr2O3 nodules are observed to nucleate and develop inward. For 304L stainless steel powder, the shape of the mass gain curve is parabolic, in agreement with a diffusion controlled oxidation. SEM observations of oxidised powder and in situ XRD measurements at 800 °C under oxygen show an external growth of Cr2O3 oxide layer. The low resistance to oxidation of the composite (compared to the powder) in the initial period seems to be due to the properties of the zirconia/metallic particles interface obtained after the sintering process. Under reducing conditions, the initial Cr2O3 layer reacts with zirconia matrix. TEM observation of the “as sintered” interface between the metallic particles and the ceramic shows no chromia layer. Sudden changes in oxygen partial pressure during experiments reveal an accelerating effect of the oxygen pressure.

Framing labor in news of the Foxconn jumps

Mindy, Xin-hua Kuo Unknown Date (has links)
This thesis examines the frames used in the news coverage of the Foxconn suicide jumps in general and labor issue in particular, along with political affiliation as a factor in Taiwan’s dailies. Framing analysis of 222 articles in the four major newspapers in Taiwan showed that “attribution of responsibility” and “economic consequence” were identified to be the two most used frames in coverage. These frames shifted to one another on June 1, the day when the company announced the wage increase policy. After the time divide, stories published before that mainly talked about attribution of responsibility and soon shifted to economic consequence afterwards. As for tone, coverage of workers generally stayed neutral with a subtle change from positive to negative, while stories of employers showed a shift from negative in the beginning to positive in the later stage. In terms of political affiliation, findings showed that difference could be obviously observed in the quantity of coverage, where the pro-Green Liberty Times contributed much less than the pro-Blue United Daily and China Times. While showing no obvious difference in the use of frame and by tone in the four newspapers when describing workers and employers, the pro-independence Liberty Times demonstrated apparent negative attitude toward the Chinese government and other China-related affairs in its editorials.

Campi, Luciano 18 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)

It was investigatet the indexes of physical charges and their changes among the basketball players of 15–16 years old. The survey was done in January and February, 2006 and there were 15 young basketballers. The aim of the survey was the changes of the young players in the acceleration of the physical strength and becoming well again. According to the pecularities of the phases of the young players and the importance of the physical strength there was an actual research in this problem, that is, to ascertain the changes of the indexesof the accelaration of the strength pointing at various physical charges and becoming well afterwards. The aims were to ascertain the hight of the players jump (hp90, Dj90 and Dj135), as well as their changes before the charge and after it, and becoming well afterwards, then to ascertain the tiredness of the muscles, the composition of the skeleton, the changes of the height of the jumps at the maximal intensivity, and to ascertain the pain of the muscles. During the warming – up the players did three experimental jumps in these ways: hp90, Dj90, Dj135. Later, the young basketball players had to do three control jumps. Then, there was a 1 minute charge test in maximum power series of the jumps. After that, they did three control jumps in all the described ways. Then, the young players had a rest for one hour. After that they had a warming – up and then three control jumps. A contact platform was used to ascertain the height of the jump with the... [to full text]

Modèles probabilistes de l'évolution d'une population dans un environnement variable / Probabilistic modeles of a population evolving in a changing environment

Nassar, Elma 04 July 2016 (has links)
We study a stochastic differential equation driven by a Poisson point process, which models continuous changes in a population's environment, as well as the stochastic fixation of beneficial mutations that might compensate for this change. The fixation probability of a given mutation increases as the phenotypic lag $X_t$ between the population and the optimum grows larger, and successful mutations are assumed to fix instantaneously (leading to an adaptive jump). First, we study the large time behavior of the solution of this SDE taking into consideration one phenotypic trait of the population and we find the conditions under which $X_t$ is recurrent (possibility of survival) or transient (doomed to exctinction). Then we generalize our results to the case of a phenotypic traits vector, essentially in $R^2$. Finally, we introduce a small jumps limit to characterize and understand the recurrent case.

We introduce a new methodology to the jump-diffusion process defining level, steepness and curvature jumps to capture the specificities of the Brazilian nominal interest rate term structure. A numerical solution is proposed under the Brace and Musiela (1994) parametrization extended to the jumpdiffusion process. Through Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and historical data manipulation, the calibration of the parameters of the model is made. With Monte Carlo simulations, the model is used to price asian interest rate options (IDI options), to obtain forecasts of the interest rate term structure and to simulate trading strategies of interest rate furutes.

Motta, Maycon 12 April 2013 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 5177.pdf: 16843754 bytes, checksum: 0b2e8c0ee3f79df315d62b9151b7e100 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-04-12 / Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais / Avalanches are sudden dramatic phenomena that occur in nature. The technique of magneto-optical imaging (MOI) has allowed us to observe abrupt flux entrances in superconductors, the so-called ux avalanches, due to thermomagnetic instabilities in the vortex matter. Their morphology is fascinating, especially in superconducting thin films, where they develop in dendritic patterns. From a practical point of view, the flux avalanches undermine applications of superconducting thin films. In the last years, however, several steps have been reached to fully understand the fundamental physics of the phenomenon and also on how to suppress their occurrence. The present thesis deals with the study of flux avalanches in structured superconducting thin films. We have studied crystalline Nb and amorphous Mo79Ge21 thin films decorated with arrays of antidots (ADs or holes) produced by electron beam lithography. The magnetic response of these specimens has been investigated by means of MOI, dc magnetization and ac susceptibility. Firstly, we have established a link among those three techniques in the regime dominated by flux avalanches. We have observed that the reentrant behavior in the ac susceptibility at low temperatures occurs as a consequence of flux avalanches. Essentially, there is reuse of the channels created by the first ac cycle in a regime where the signal is weakly dependent on the temperature. Our results show that measurements of ac susceptibility versus ac field amplitude can be used to detect flux avalanches, since the signature of the flux avalanches appears as noisy curves of both ac susceptibility components. As a consequence, the critical current density as a function of temperature [Jc.T ] obtained by using the Bean model whose validity is assured by Cole-Cole plots is smooth for higher temperatures and, below a certain temperature onset, a non-smooth and noisy behavior takes place due to the avalanches. The temperature dependence of Jc.T,H was determined for different values of the applied magnetic field. The stability/instability frontier was then identified as the limiting temperature below which the curve Jc.T,H becomes noisy, indicating the occurrence of avalanches. Associated with this limiting temperature, the threshold critical current density to trigger avalanches is essentially independent of the magnetic field. This frontier corresponds to the upper threshold limit for the occurrence of avalanches. The effect in a thin film of a graded distribution of ADs which follows nearly the flux profile described by the Bean model has been studied. Compared to the uniform distribution, there is an increase of the critical current density at low fields. Moreover, viii the flux avalanches, highly induced by the presence of an array of ADs, have their activity reduced in temperature and magnetic field. For the first time, flux avalanches have been visualized in amorphous Mo79Ge21 thin film, both in plain and decorated thin films. Finally, we have investigated the influence of the lattice symmetry and AD geometry on the flux avalanche morphology. We have observed avalanches with the habit of forming trees where the trunk is parallel to the main axis of the square lattice and the branches form angles of 45 degrees. In addition to that, we have found an anisotropic penetration in a Nb thin film decorated with a square lattice of triangular ADs. Besides that, a sample having one half of the ADs in the form of squares, and the other half being circles, has been observed to present avalanches of different morphologies on each of its halves. We have also studied an a-MoGe thin film with a centered rectangular 2D Bravais lattice with square ADs which shows penetrations with different angles depending on the edge. The overall features of the avalanches, and in particular the 45-degree direction of the branches, have been confirmed by numerical simulations using the thermomagnetic model. Superconductivity, structured thin films, flux avalanches, magneto-optical imaging.

Efeitos do treinamento pliométrico em variáveis fisiológicas e neuromusculares de corredores de longa distância / Effects of plyometric training on physiologic and neuromuscular variables of long distance runners

João Paulo Vieira Manechini 27 April 2017 (has links)
With the purpose to compare the effects of explosive-strength training in physiologic and neuromuscular variables of endurance runners, the present study accounted with 18 male amateur athletes experienced in long distance races (21km and above). The sample was divided between explosive-strength training - RPG (running plyometrics group) and technique exercises protocol - RTG (running techniques group), which performed six weeks of distinct exercise protocols. With the aim to evaluate key-variables for endurance running performance the subjects were submitted to batteries of assessments in two different moments: after the exercises adaptation week and right before the beginning of the protocols, and at the end of the exercise protocols. The assessments battery contained vertical jump tests (Jump Height [H], Peak Power [PP] and Relative Power [RP] for the techniques Squat Jump [SJ], Counter Movement Jump [CMJ] and Drop Jump 40cm [DJ40])/ horizontal long jump (SH) and sextuple jump alternating legs (S6A), one maximum repetition for squat at Smith Machine (absolute [1RM Abs.] and relative to body mass loads [1RM Rel.]), maximum voluntary isometric contraction test (MVIC - peak force [Fpico], peak force relative to body mass [Fpico R.], time to peak force [TFPICO] and rate of force development [TDF]); maximum incremental treadmill test (treadmill peak velocity [VPE] and lactate threshold velocity [vLL]), and time limit test at treadmill peak velocity (Tlim). The statistical procedures were performed at IBM® SPSS® Statistics Software v. 20.0, para Windows (IBM Corporation, Chicago, USA) The Mixed Model ANOVA was performed with dependent variables to identify time and group interactions, using the Bonferroni post-hoc test when necessary, while the training variables were analyzed by the Student\'s t test for independent samples. All data were also analyzed with Cohen\'s \"d\" Effect Size test (ES) and Probability of Quantitative Chances (QC). There were found in RPG significant differences for H and PR for Squat Jump technique between moments pre- and post-protocol (HSJ: F = 6,973; p = 0,018; PRSJ: F = 8,421; p = 0,01), and for the same variables for Counter Movement Jump technique between RPG and RTG (HCMJ: F = 6,163; p = 0,025; PRCMJ: F = 4,667; p = 0,046) after the exercise protocols. Also, significant difference was found for \'time to peak force\' variable (F = 7,731; p = 0,013) during the MVIC test for the group RPG between moments. Yet, the control group presented significant decrease of peak treadmill velocity in the moment post- compared to the pre-training (F = 5,493; p = 0,032), which was not observed in the experimental group. Still, the experimental group presented lower values for lactate concentrations 1, 3 and 5 minutes after Tlim test (F = 16,858; p = 0,001; F = 8,406; p = 0,01; F = 12,092; p = 0,003, respectively). It is possible to conclude that the plyometric training performed by the RPG was superior to the technique exercises protocol in the objective of increasing lower-limbs explosive-strength parameters, contributing to the maintenance of running performance and a better lactate clearance capacity, which did not happen in the RTG.
