Construction Of Equivalent Circuit Of A Single Isolated Transformer Winding From Frequency Response

Frequency response analysis (FRA) of transformers is universally accepted as a highly sensitive tool to detect deformations in its windings. This is evident from the fact that customized commercial equipment (popularly called FRA or SFRA instruments) are used and recently the IEEE has issued a draft trial-use guide. Nevertheless, use of FRA is still limited to only detection and there is little progress towards its use for localization of winding deformation. Toward this end, a possible approach would be to compare the healthy and deformed systems in a suitable domain, e.g., their respective models could be compared. In this context, the mutually-coupled ladder network is ideally suited because not only does it map the length of the winding to sections of the ladder network, but, also inherently captures all subtle intricacies of winding behaviour under lightning impulse excitations insofar as the terminal response, internal oscillations and voltage distributions are concerned. The task of constructing a ladder network from frequency response is not trivial, and so exploration of newer methods is imperative. A system can comprehensively be characterized by its frequency response. With this as the starting point, many approaches exist to construct the corresponding rational function (in s-domain). But, the subsequent step of converting this rational function into a physically-realizable mutually-coupled ladder network has, as yet, remained elusive. A critical analysis of the circuit synthesis literature reveals that there exists no analytical procedure to achieve this task, a fact unequivocally stated by Guillemin in his seminal book "Synthesis of Passive Networks". In recent years, use of iterative methods to synthesize such ladder networks has also been attempted with some degree of success. However, there exists a lot of scope for improvement. Based on this summary, the objectives of this thesis are as follows- _ Development of an analytical procedure, if possible, to synthesize a mutually-coupled ladder network starting from the s-domain representation of the frequency response _ Construction of a nearly-unique, mutually-coupled ladder network employing constrained optimization technique and using frequency response as input, with time-efficiency, physical realizability and repeatability as its features In Chapter 2, analytical solution is presented to convert a given driving-point impedance function (in s-domain) into a physically-realizable ladder network with inductive couplings (between any two sections) and losses considered. The number of sections in the ladder network can vary, but, its topology is assumed fixed. A study of the coefficients of the numerator and denominator polynomials of the driving-point impedance function of the ladder network, for increasing number of sections, led to the identification of certain coefficients, which exhibit very special properties. Generalized expressions for these specific coefficients have also been derived. Exploiting their properties, it is demonstrated that the synthesis method essentially turns out to be an exercise of solving a set of linear, simultaneous, algebraic equations, whose solution directly yields the ladder network elements. The proposed solution is novel, simple, and guarantees a unique network. Presently, the formulation can synthesize a unique ladder network up to 6-sections. Although it is an analytical solution, there are issues which prevent its implementation with actual FRA data. Keeping the above aspect in mind, the second part of the thesis presents results of employing an artificial bee colony search algorithm for synthesizing a mutuallycoupled lumped-parameter ladder network representation of a transformer winding, starting from its measured magnitude frequency response. The bee colony algorithm is modified by defining constraints and bounds to restrict the search-space and thus ensure synthesis of a nearly-unique ladder network, corresponding to each frequency response. Ensuring near-uniqueness while constructing the reference circuit (i.e., a uniform healthy winding) is the objective. The proposed method is easy to implement, time-efficient, ensures physical realizability and problem associated with supply of initial guess in existing methods is circumvented. Experiments were performed on two types of actual, single, isolated transformer windings (continuous-disc and interleaveddisc) and the results are encouraging. Further details are presented in the thesis.

For the task were developed two alternatives. These alternatives were described and compared each other. Included are the input and output data of the given structure modeling using HEC-RAS. The last part is then researched drawings to objects.

This thesis deals with revitalization of the selected part of river Drevnice. Main scopes of the work are proposals of fish passages through migration barriers. The work is conceived on four levels. The first of them is dealing with the general characteristics of selected segment and with description of objects on watercourse. The second level is dealing with revitalization, where the basic information about migration and efficiency of fishes are described. In this chapter basic distribution of fish ladders is included. In third part, which is the most comprehensive, I design a boulder fish ramp and bypass channel. The last chapter contains drawings documentation of watercourse Drevnice and my own proposed revitalization elements.

Estudo metodológico dividido em duas etapas com abordagem quantitativa e descritiva para avaliar os conteúdos existentes no YouTube que abordam o cateterismo intermitente limpo e na segunda etapa avaliar os acessos de tecnologias educativas disponibilizadas em redes sociais acerca da temática. Na primeira etapa a amostra constituiu-se por 07 vídeos que descreviam a técnica do cateterismo intermitente limpo com disponibilização gratuita no YouTube. O material foi avaliado por enfermeiros baseado nas recomendações da Sociedade Brasileira de Urologia. A segunda etapa constituiu-se pela avaliação dos acessos das redes sociais Cateterismo Digital, sendo o YouTube a rede social com maior média de visitas ao perfil e impressão de conteúdos. De acordo a avaliação dos acessos das redes sociais Cateterismo Digital pode concluir que os perfis responderam positivamente às expectativas de divulgação dos conteúdos do website aos usuários. Nesse contexto, é importante considerar o potencial que as redes sociais desenvolvidas por profissionais de saúde apresentam como ferramentas tecnológicas educativas, podem ser utilizadas tanto pelos usuários quanto por demais profissionais para nortear a busca por informações seguras online colaborando com a promoção da saúde. / Abstract: This involves surveying videos about clean intermittent catheterization on YouTube and evaluating access to content on the Cateterismo Digital website on social networks. Methodological study divided into two stages with a quantitative and descriptive approach to evaluate the existing content on YouTube that address clean intermittent catheterization and in the second stage to assess the access of educational technologies available on social networks on the subject. In the first stage, the sample consisted of 07 videos that described the technique of clean intermittent catheterization with free availability on YouTube. The material was evaluated by nurses based on the recommendations of the Brazilian Society of Urology. The second stage consisted of assessing the accesses of the social networks Cateterismo Digital, with YouTube being the social network with the highest average number of visits to the profile and content printing. According to the evaluation of the accesses of the social networks Cateterismo Digital can conclude that the profiles responded positively to the expectations of disclosing the contents of the website to users. In this context, it is important to consider the potential that social networks developed by health professionals present as educational technological tools, which can be used by both users and other professionals to guide the search for safe information online, collaborating with health promotion. / Mestre

LOCALLY CONNECTED NEURAL NETWORKS FOR IMAGE RECOGNITION

Weight-sharing property in convolutional neural network (CNN) is useful in reducing number of parameters in the network and also introduces regularization effect which helps to gain high performance. Non-weight-shared convolutional neural networks also known as Locally connected networks (LCNs) has potential to learn more<br>in each layer due to large number of parameters without increasing number of inference computations as compared to CNNs. This work explores the idea of where Locally connected layers can be used to gain performance benefits in terms of accuracy and computations, what are the challenges in training the locally connected networks and what are the techniques that should be introduced in order to train this network and achieve high performance. Partially-local connected network (P-LCN) VGG-16 which is hybrid of convolutional layers and Locally connected layers achieves on average 2.0% accuracy gain over VGG-16 full convolutional network on CIFAR100 and 0.32% on CIFAR10. Modified implementation of batch normalization for Full LCNs (all layers in network are locally connected layers) gives improvement of 50% in training accuracy as compared to using CNN batch normalization layer in full LCN. Since L1, L2 and Dropout regularization does not help improve accuracy of LCNs, regularization methods which focuses on kernels rather than individual weight for regularizing the network were explored. Ladder networks with semi supervised learning achieves this goal. Training methodology of ladder networks was modified to achieve ∼2% accuracy improvement on Pavia-University hyper-spectral image dataset with 5 labels per class.

Associate in Science (AS) to Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (BSAS) Transfer Students: An Analysis of Student Characteristics, Engagement, and Success

This study sought to examine and comprehensively describe transfer students who have earned a two-year technical or occupational Associate in Science (AS) degree at the community college and entered the university to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Applied Science (BSAS). The BSAS degree is a specialized baccalaureate degree program created to allow AS degree holders an opportunity to efficiently transfer into the university affording them full recognition of their two-year degree. This statewide articulated program at the University of South Florida is the first of its kind in the state of Florida. The program only began admitting its first students in the fall term of 2003. Prior to the creation of the BSAS degree, most AS degree holders were not admissible to the university. If they did meet admission requirements based upon competitive freshman admission requirements, only about 15-18 credits of the 60+ credits earned through their AS degree were transferrable. Before the BSAS there were no efficient means for most AS degree holders to pursue higher education beyond their two-year degree. The first five years of this new bachelor's degree program have been very successful. The BSAS program has consistently experienced enrollment growth every year, and the specialized "areas of concentration" have continued to expand offering even greater opportunity for AS degree holders to pursue meaningful baccalaureate studies in support of their academic, professional or personal goals. The AS-to-BS transfer students represent a relatively new student population at the university and this population is steadily growing. The university has historically had little experience with them, and consequently we know little about them. This study was an analysis of AS-BSAS transfer students to determine their characteristics, engagement and success at the university. The study revealed that they are, in fact, a unique student population at the university who are generally disengaged with university life, but performing very well academically. Their average age is 37 years old. They are predominately working adults with family responsibilities. They are conscientious students who are persisting and completing their bachelor's degree in less time than the national average for all transfer students. Overall, the results of this study suggest that we may need to make adjustments to our transfer and articulation policies, our admission practices, and closely examine the broader services of the university to ensure we meet the holistic needs of this new, exclusive, atypical, workforce focused, and growing population of students at the university.

Ladder to rooftop tents : Product development of a new contractable ladder suited for Thule rooftop tents

This thesis report contains the development of a new ladder specifically designed for needs of the rooftop tent users. The project has been conducted by two students wor- king full time over the duration of twenty weeks with the start in mid-January and is a culmination of their education in industrial design engineering at Luleå university of technology. The thesis is a collaboration with Thule which is a Swedish compa- ny specializing in outdoor and transportation products for the active user. Thule’s largest user base are the occasional users, which uses their products once or twice a year. The current ladder used by Thule today is a telescopic solution that is mainly deri- ved from standards concerning contractable ladders and not specifically made for rooftop tent ladder. Thus, it has a lacking usability and is constructed from many dif- ferent parts which makes it unnecessarily complex and heavy. This has led to Thule wanting this project to explore the possibilities of creating a more weight optimized and cost-efficient ladder that can achieve several lengths ranging from 1,5 to 2,5 meters. This while also making it more user friendly and safe while incorporating the company values. Thus, the mission statement reads: “To create a safe, high quality, and easy to use rooftop tent ladder for the occasion- al, recreational user while reducing weight and complexity” The schedule has followed an iterative process influenced by the phases of design thinking, which is to emphasize, define, ideate, prototype, and finally test. This has helped to solve the complex problems by focusing on the users and their needs. To start this off, an extensive analysis of the market competition, users, Thule, and the current ladder was performed to be followed up with more creative methods as bra- instorming and different stages of sketching, aimed to solve the problems that was found. All of which later was constructed to a feasible concept with computer aided design, prototyping methods, and computer renderings. The result is a new rooftop tent ladder with a sliding design, fulfilling most of the project scope as well as solving other problems found in the first phases. The project has also provided Thule with a full-scale, functional mock-up to prove the concept, as well as some recommendations for future work. / <p>Product patent protected by Thule Sweden.
