Nakladatelství Meander / Meander publishing house

Havlíková, Jaroslava January 2015 (has links)
My diploma thesis called "The Meander publishing house" characterizes this publishing house in the context of the current state of the book market and children's reading. There is a paradoxical situation in the Czech Republic. Although literary production of books for children and young people increases a lot in recent years, recent readership surveys show a significant decline in reading habits. There are several institutions in the Czech Republic trying to enforce the motivation to read and to support high-quality children's publishing. The Meander publishing house is annually involved in encouraging children to read through the festival called "Děti, čtete?" (Children, do you read?). The Meander publishing house offers the quality outstanding books which resulted in increasing of the literacy level of the Czech Republic. The publishing house is connected with the name Petr Nikl, an author, artist, theater artist and musician. He is a well-rounded Czech artist and thus he is considered to be one of the most significant personalities of Czech culture. Nikl is also very popular with readership for his literary activities in the field of nonsense prose and poetry. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

The Didactic Fiction : The Construction of Role Models from the Perspective of Literature for Children and Young Adults 1400–1750

Paulin, Lotta January 2012 (has links)
This thesis investigates the construction of role models, more specifically literary didactics and constructions of subject positions, in literary works with exemplary stories in Swedish 1400–1750, from the perspective of literature for children and young adults. Childhood concepts, didactic concepts and subject positions presented to the reader are analyzed from the point of view of dominance and dissonance between different characters and messages. A number of themes have been chosen for a comparative study, for example: ideas about identification, the construction of subject positions and ideals for girls, the responsibility of adults, subversive tendencies, obedience or autonomy, the immoral role model as exemplary, conflicts between different childhood concepts, adults and children as role models. A central conclusion is that there is variation when it comes to the subject positions that are constructed for children and young adults, mainly through role models. There are examples of authoritative teachings that demands the subordination and obedience of the reader/recipient, as well as encouragement of questioning and even contra conventional subject positions. One conclusion is that premodern literature for the young does not just have an authoritative tone towards the reader, but the texts also negotiates with the reader. The messages are not just about obedience and religious fidelity, but also about learning, questioning and personal, moral responsibility. A critical perspective on adults is encouraged through critizism of adults and exemplary role models. Subject positions for girls also vary in the texts. Some texts convey conventional, passive gender roles while others present active subject positions, where chastity, wisdom and manliness are presented as ideal virtues for girls.

Friedensbilderbücher - Die österreichische Kinder- und Jugendbuchautorin Mira Lobe als Friedenserzieherin

Anselgruber, Marie-Luise 04 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to lay the groundwork for a dialogue between the fields of picture book studies and peace education in order to highlight the different forms and functions of picture books for peace. This study shows how these books contribute to peace literacy in children and motivate them to act for peace, by looking at how and why they are written and how and why they work. Picture books are an ideal medium to educate children about peace. Very early in the childhood socialization process, these books can convey concepts and key skills and eventually instill in the child values rooted in a culture of peace. This research is based on the theme of peace as dealt with in the works of the Austrian author Maria Lobe (1913-1995). Seven peace picture books are analyzed to determine which strategies and literary, pedagogical, semiotic, narrative and aesthetic approaches the author used to deal with sometimes delicate and taboo complex human, political and social issues in her works for young audiences. The research also seeks to show how these works may help develop empathy, an aversion for violence and a desire for peace in children who may thus learn to choose peace and become peacemakers. The results and conclusions drawn from the fields of education and studies of picture books lead us to demonstrate how Mira Lobe, through her peace picture books, makes a universal and timeless contribution to peace education.

Beletrizace dějin ve výuce dějepisu / Fictionalization of History in History Teaching

Knitlová, Hana January 2012 (has links)
99 Summary The topic of this Diploma thesis focuses on Fictionalization of History in History Teaching. This area is closely connected with Eduard Štorch. Eduard Štorch was an amateur archaeologist, a very good writer and an undervalued teacher. Based on topics which he drew from a variety of archaeological research projects he created and wrote adventure stories which can be classified as somewhere between fiction and popular science stories in which he described oldest periods of Czech history. His books are still recognised today as the very best of their kind and they have been translated into a number of foreign languages. As a teacher, Štorch did his utmost to improve children's education. At his own expense and almost single-handedly he built a "Children's Farm" on Libeňský ostrov in Prague. It was meant as a place for educating children not only inside a classroom but also in the middle of nature. Children from other schools in Prague were encouraged to use the outdoors facilities there in their free time as well. Eduard Štorch tried to promote and enforce changes in the teaching of all school subjects but concentrated on the teaching of history. For this purpose he published several books such as "The Reform of the History Taught at Schools" (Reforma školního dějepisu; 1905), "The New History"...
