Preventing Health Data from Leaking in a Machine Learning System : Implementing code analysis with LLM and model privacy evaluation testing / Förhindra att Hälsodata Läcker ut i ett Maskininlärnings System : Implementering av kod analys med stor språk-modell och modell integritets testning

Sensitive data leaking from a system can have tremendous negative consequences, such as discrimination, social stigma, and fraudulent economic consequences for those whose data has been leaked. Therefore, it’s of utmost importance that sensitive data is not leaked from a system. This thesis investigated different methods to prevent sensitive patient data from leaking in a machine learning system. Various methods have been investigated and evaluated based on previous research; the methods used in this thesis are a large language model (LLM) for code analysis and a membership inference attack on models to test their privacy level. The LLM code analysis results show that the Llama 3 (an LLM) model had an accuracy of 90% in identifying malicious code that attempts to steal sensitive patient data. The model analysis can evaluate and determine membership inference of sensitive patient data used for training in machine learning models, which is essential for determining data leakage a machine learning model can pose in machine learning systems. Further studies in increasing the deterministic and formatting of the LLM‘s responses must be investigated to ensure the robustness of the security system that utilizes LLMs before it can be deployed in a production environment. Further studies of the model analysis can apply a wider variety of evaluations, such as increased size of machine learning model types and increased range of attack testing types of machine learning models, which can be implemented into machine learning systems. / Känsliga data som läcker från ett system kan ha enorma negativa konsekvenser, såsom diskriminering, social stigmatisering och negativa ekonomiska konsekvenser för dem vars data har läckt ut. Därför är det av yttersta vikt att känsliga data inte läcker från ett system. Denna avhandling undersökte olika metoder för att förhindra att känsliga patientdata läcker ut ur ett maskininlärningssystem. Olika metoder har undersökts och utvärderats baserat på tidigare forskning; metoderna som användes i denna avhandling är en stor språkmodell (LLM) för kodanalys och en medlemskapsinfiltrationsattack på maskininlärnings (ML) modeller för att testa modellernas integritetsnivå. Kodanalysresultaten från LLM visar att modellen Llama 3 hade en noggrannhet på 90% i att identifiera skadlig kod som försöker stjäla känsliga patientdata. Modellanalysen kan utvärdera och bestämma medlemskap av känsliga patientdata som används för träning i maskininlärningsmodeller, vilket är avgörande för att bestämma den dataläckage som en maskininlärningsmodell kan exponera. Ytterligare studier för att öka determinismen och formateringen av LLM:s svar måste undersökas för att säkerställa robustheten i säkerhetssystemet som använder LLM:er innan det kan driftsättas i en produktionsmiljö. Beyond Narrative

My graduate film at Virginia Commonwealth University, "Nunna Mia e la Barca," explores the traditions behind narrative and documentary film construction. With this project, my goal was to blend narrative story telling techniques - for example continuity editing - with that of documentary approaches in order to communicate the story of my Italian grandmother, Nunna, and her journey on the Andrea Doria in 1956. These documentary approaches focus more on the specific details of Nunna's American home as I have experienced them growing up. Everything in the motion picture frame has been lit, composed, rehearsed, and edited as in any fictional film, but the actors are my family and do play themselves and others throughout the piece. Although the work is scripted, the actuality of Nunna being herself and acting out her daily tasks creates a soft merging of fiction and nonfiction that makes the film nearly docudramatic. The docudramatic elements(elements dramatized from a true story) stem from both the biographical information as well as the perception of the abstracted objects in Nunna's house. As in most of my films, my interest lies in the relationship between past and present events and the effect they have on the individual experiencing them. In order for me to tackle the combination of narrative and documentary, I had to define the terms as I understood them to be.

Master of Music / Department of Music / Reginald Pittman / This Master’s Report contains extended program notes on the works performed on a graduate rectial of music for a Baritone. The text includes biographical information on each composer and an analysis of each piece performed. Text translations are included in the body of the discussions. The pieces discussed are Handel’s “See The Raging Flames Arise,” from Joshua, Poulenc’s Le Bestiaire, Strauss’s Zueignung, Nichts and Cäcilie, Puccini’s “Questo amor, vergogna mia,” from Edgar, Jason Robert Brown’s Moving Too Fast, The Next Ten Minutes, The River Won’t Flow and She Cries and lastly Jonathon Reid Gealt’s September of ’92. The graduate recital was given in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Music degree in vocal performance on April 7, 2014. It was performed in All Faiths Chapel at Kansas State University. It featured the piano talents of Amanda Arrington, Paul Meissbach and Norma Roozeboom, the vocal talents of Reginald Pittman, Elise Poehling and Patricia Thompson, and the insrumental talents of Nolan Groff and Craig Archer.

A presente dissertação tem como objetivo analisar as diferentes representações da mulher em três romances do moçambicano Mia Couto, são eles: A varanda do Frangipani, Antes de Nascer o Mundo e A confissão da leoa. Pretende-se perceber como ocorrem essas representações e possíveis relações com o mundo de Moçambique, com suas formas de ver a vida, a mulher, a história. Notar tais ligações do narrado com a realidade do povo pode servir para um melhor entendimento do país e de seu modo de viver. A fundamentação teórica é baseada nos estudos de Edward Said, Homi Bhabha e Stuart Hall. A metodologia consistiu na localização e recolha dos diferentes momentos de representação feminina. Partindo desse material, analisaram-se os significados e repercussões dessas imagens. Primeiramente, buscou-se tratar de elementos relevantes da história moçambicana, por entender que é importante para compreender o livro e a literatura como um todo. Após, cada obra foi abordada separadamente, com seus elementos significativos, e a análise da representação da mulher. Pode-se concluir que o que é narrado assemelha-se, em grande parte, com o que as pessoas enfrentam no seu dia a dia. Além disso, nota-se uma maior abordagem da temática feminina ao passar dos anos por Mia Couto, juntamente com o aumento das discussões sobre o tema. / This work aims to analyze the different women representations in three novels by the Mozambican Mia Couto, they are: A varanda do frangipani, Antes de nascer o mundo and A confissão da leoa. It can be concluded that what is narrated resembles largely with what people face in their everyday life. Thus , the literary texts that form the corpus of this study are Terra Son?mbula, O outro p? da sereia and A confiss?o da leoa each volume representing a decade of the author's production, since the books were published in 1992 ( his first novel ) , 2006 and 2012 , respectively. The theory of this work was grounded mainly in the works of Gilbert Durand, Gaston Bachelard, Carl Gustav Jung and Mircea Eliade, in regards to issues relating to the imaginary. However, it is also important to check those specific aspects about Mozambique, its culture, society and beliefs, as well as about the writer whose work is reviewed here, in order to discover how these characteristics may alter the imagery related to water transports within the literary texts in question . O presente trabalho aventa a hipótese de que a obra narrativa de Mia Couto conjuga um projeto políticoideológico que sinaliza um caminho para essa nova era. Ao dar visibilidade a aspectos negligenciados pelo atual paradigma, Couto promove a ideia de que a verdade histórica sobre a qual se erigiu o mundo ocidental nada mais é que uma versão construída pelo discurso da dominação. Para além da verdade oficial, encontra-se a verdade das mulheres e crianças, dos povos colonizados, das minorias étnicas e sexuais, bem como dos demais seres que coabitam com o homem na Terra. Desconstruir pressupostos antropocêntricos, androcêntricos, eurocêntricos e heteronormativos é dar voz e vez à verdade dos seres preteridos pela histórialei-do-mais-forte. Quiçá isto estaria sensibilizando para a causa mais importante da História da humanidade: a agenda que trata da sobrevivência da própria espécie. Diante disso, o trabalho analisa um corpus de 26 narrativas à luz dos pressupostos da ecocrítica, ecosofia, feminismo e pós-colonialismo, objetivando demarcar esse hipotético leitmotiv da obra coutiana e as formas como contribuiria, num quadro mais amplo, para a conscientização e revisão do atual paradigma de morte que domina o mundo ocidentalizado / Abstract: Eminent professionals from several different fields of knowledge, ranging from theologists to theoretical physicists have agreed that it is only possible for human beings to penetrate into a new level of their psychic development - and more urgently - in order to slow down the imminent ecological cataclysm, we urge the establishment of a new civilizatory paradigm. This thesis suggests the hypothesis which states that Mia Couto's narrative works bring together a political-ideological project, which shows a path leading to this new era. By highlighting aspects neglected by the current paradigm, Couto foments the idea of which the historical truth that founded the western world is nothing but a version built by the discourse of domination. Beyond the official truth, there is the truth concerned to women and children, colonized cultures, ethnic and sexual minorities, as well as to other beings that cohabit with men on Earth. Deconstructing anthropocentric, androcentric, eurocentric and heteronormative presuppositions is to give voice and a chance for the truth of those who have been neglected by the History and survival of the most "favored men". This could be possibly sensitizing the most important cause of mankind's History: the agenda that deals with the survival of our own species. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / A presente pesquisa percorre os interiores de uma fortaleza colonial, cenário de A varanda do frangipani, do escritor moçambicano Mia Couto. Nessa obra, o autor estabelece com o leitor um pacto ficcional (ECO, 1994) e o convida a iluminar-se com as diversas micro-narrativas que traçam um paralelo entre o ontem e o hoje de uma varanda que protege e aprisiona. O narrador convoca o narratário e relata a história de personagens que vivem uma realidade paradoxal, transitando entre as visões de dentro e de fora, racional e irracional. Em um mundo fragmentado, os componentes ficcionais se conjugam para compor uma narrativa que promove profundas reflexões através da palavra, pois palavras valem a pena se nos esperam encantamentos (COUTO, 2007, p. 112) / The present research goes through the inside of a colonial fortress, scenario from Under the frangipani, by the Mozambican writer Mia Couto. In this work, the author establishes with the reader a fictional pact (ECO, 1994) and invites him to bright himself up with the various micro-narrative that draw a parallel between yesterday and today of a balcony that protects and "imprisons". The narrator requests the narratee and relates the characters that live a paradoxal reality's stories, transiting between the views of inside and of outside, rational and irrational. In a fragmented world, the fictional components combine themselves to compose a narrative that promotes deep reflection through word, because words are worth if we expect enchantment (COUTO, 2007, p. 112)

A hip?tese defendida ? a de que a constru??o da figuratividade em textos constitu?dos por mecanismos verbais e n?o verbais est? atrelada ? ativa??o de estruturas neurais relacionadas a nossas a??es e percep??es. Desse modo, a linguagem ? considerada uma faculdade cognitiva ligada ao aparato cerebral e ?s experi?ncias corp?reas, de maneira que ela fornece amostras do processo cont?nuo de (re)constru??o de sentidos efetivado pelo leitor, o qual (re)define suas vis?es acerca do mundo ? medida que certas redes neurais s?o (ou deixam de ser) ativadas durante o processamento lingu?stico. O estudo do corpus ? pautado na metodologia da introspec??o, isto ?, a an?lise individual dos aspectos lingu?sticos conforme se manifestam na pr?pria cogni??o do sujeito (TALMY, 2005). / The object of this study is the construction of metaphor and metonymy in comics. This work is inserted in the field of Embodied Cognitive Linguistics, specifically based on the Neural Theory of Language (FELDMAN, 2006) and, consistent with this theoretical and methodological framework, the notions of categorization (LAKOFF & JOHNSON, 1999), embodiment (GIBBS, 2005), figurativity (GIBBS, 1994; BERGEN, 2005), and mental simulation (BARSALOU, 1999; FELDMAN, 2006) have also been used. The hypothesis defended is that the construction of figurativity in texts consisting of verbal and nonverbal mechanisms is linked to the activation of neural structures related to our actions and perceptions. Thus, language is considered a cognitive faculty connected to the brain apparatus and to bodily experiences, in such a way that it provides samples of the continuous process of meaning (re)construction performed by the reader, whom (re)defines his or her views about the world as certain neural networks are (or stop being) activated during linguistic processing. The data obtained during the analysys shows that, as regards comics, the act of reading together the graphics and verbal language seems to have an important role in the construction of figurativity, including cases of metaphors which are metonymically motivated. These preliminary conclusions were drawn from the data analysis taken from V de Vingan?a (MOORE; LLOYD, 2006). The corpus study was guided by the methodology of introspection, i.e., the individual analysis of linguistic aspects as manifested in one's own cognition (TALMY, 2005).
