Previous issue date: 2017-01-19 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / Objectives: The aims of this study were to evaluate the elastic modulus and the monomer conversion of self- etching adhesives (Single Bond Universal and Clearfil SE Bond) and two- steps etch-and-rinse adhesives (primer + adhesive in the same bottle, Adper Single Bond 2 and Gluma 2Bond). The null hypothesis was that two-step adhesive systems will have higher degree of monomer conversion and a higher elastic modulus than the self-etching ones. Materials and methods: On dentin disks obtained from 10 extracted third molars were applied self- etching and etch-and-rinse adhesive systems according to manufacturer's instructions and light cured by a LED light. Right after, the specimens were submitted to elastic modulus by atomic force with 50g load for 10s. The degree of conversion of the adhesives was calculated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Results: The Single Bond 2 adhesive system presented the highest monomer conversion result (88%) followed by Universal Single Bond (79%), Gluma 2Bond (71%) and Clearfil SE Bond (69%). The results for elastic modulus (MPa) were (means followed by the same letter did not present statistical difference for Tukey (p?0,05)): Single Bond 2, 2319 (A); Single Bond Universal, 2051 (AB); Gluma, 2038 (AB); Clearfil SE Bond, 1788 (B). Conclusion: lt is not possible to infer that, as a rule, conventional adhesives systems with combined primer and adhesives will have a better performance in terms of the degree of monomer conversion as well as modulus of elasticity when compared to self-etching agents.

The woman condition: love and technology in Hiroshima mon amourMadella, Alessandra 01 July 2011 (has links)
This dissertation is a rhetorical study of the critical reception of the French film Hiroshima mon amour (1959; dir.: Alain Resnais; screenplay: Marguerite Duras). My main argument is that the themes of love and technology followed a dialectical progression in the critical reception of Hiroshima mon amour. They were important and politically charged in the first essays on the film at the turn of the Sixties. But they lost momentum and became more neutral due to the academization of Film Studies and to the rise of semiology that privileged linguistic abstractions. The return of the themes of love and technology in the Eighties signals the search for renewed forms of commitment. However, this commitment "through abstraction" is also predicated on forgetting. In fact, a different understanding of commitment does not allow remembering that Hiroshima mon amour was also a protest against the first French atomic test in Algeria and its colonial implications. My dissertation examines the limits of what can be said through different paradigms of criticism and commitment through the careful study of the rhetorical situation of each critical act. Jacques Derrida's twin concepts of aimance and of the peut-être guide my research. I examine how we can think Hiroshima mon amour on the background of the paradoxical communities that invented new forms of political participation in postwar France. The early debate on the representation of "mad love" in Resnais' film signaled a concern for the way in which modern technology undermined the binary oppositions between war/peace, civilian/military, and friend/enemy. The paradoxical communities that originated from this realization opened to rhetorical articulations that united people with no communal party membership. Derrida's politics of aimance carries on this reflection on the peut-être by targeting the traditional view that envisions the political as limited to the public sphere and tend to exclude women. By contrast, Hiroshima mon amour empowered women because it tapped into the dark territories of the private in order to show that modern technology had colonized the intimate and daily life. Hence, women critics could acquire a strong political voice from the oppression of the private.

Discribing the Auto-Ignition Quality of Fuels in HCCI EnginesRisberg, Per January 2006 (has links)
The Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine is a promising engine concept that emits low concentrations of NOx and particulates and still has a high efficiency. Since the charge is auto-ignited, the auto-ignition quality of the fuel is of major importance. It has been shown in several studies that neither of the classical measures of auto-ignition quality of gasoline-like fuels, RON and MON, can alone describe this in all conditions in HCCI combustion. However, even in such cases it is possible to combine RON and MON into an octane index, OI, that describes the auto-ignition quality well in most conditions. The octane numbers are combined into the OI with the variable K according to the following equation: OI = (1-K)RON + K MON = RON – K S The OI of a sensitive fuel is the equivalent of the octane number of a primary reference fuel with the same resistance to auto-ignition in the tested condition. The K-value is dependent on the temperature and pressure history. A generic parameter Tcomp15, the temperature at 15 bar during the compression, was introduced to describe the temperature and pressure history. It was found that the K-value increases with increasing Tcomp15 and two linear equations have been suggested to describe this relationship. At high or low Tcomp15 it has been found that the sensitivity of the fuel octane quality on combustion phasing is small and the auto-ignition quality defined by the OI scale does no longer play a big role. NO affects the combustion phasing of gasoline-like fuels. This effect is most significant at low concentration where it advances the combustion phasing considerably. At higher conditions its influence is different for different fuels. A sensitive fuel is considered a good HCCI fuel since its OI changes in the same direction as the octane requirement of the engine, which would make the engine management easier. It is also likely that a sensitive fuel will enable a wider operating range. The auto-ignition quality of diesel-like fuels was studied in tests with three different strategies of mixture formation. In these tests it was found that the ignition delay increased with lower cetane number and that the cetane number described the auto-ignition quality well, even for fuels of significantly different physical properties. The experiments were, however, made at a limited range of operating conditions and low load. A good diesel-like HCCI fuel should be easy to vaporize to facilitate homogeneity. It should have a high resistance to auto-ignition, not necessarily the highest, one that allows both high and low loads at a given compression ratio. Finally, it should also function well with the injection system without a significant decrease in injection system life length. / QC 20100917

Pesquisa do estado de Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico (CNPq) / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior (Capes) / A maior quantidade de ?cidos graxos livres e de citocinas pr?-inflamat?rias plasm?tica presentes na obesidade, podem desencadear a resist?ncia a insulina, dentre outros fatores, pela fosforila??o inibit?ria do substrato do receptor de insulina 1 (IRS-1), via ativa??o de quinases relacionadas ao estresse, como a quinase C-jun N-terminal (JNK). Em obesos, a resist?ncia a insulina correlaciona-se com altera??es do sistema imune, e com a baixa express?o da prote?na de choque t?rmico de 72kDa (Hsp72) e aumento da ativa??o da JNK no m?sculo esquel?tico. Considerando que o exerc?cio f?sico aer?bico promove melhora da sensibilidade a insulina e tem um efeito anti-inflamat?rio. O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar os efeitos de uma sess?o de exerc?cio f?sico aer?bico na express?o da HSP70, ativa??o da JNK e fosforila??o do IRS-1 no res?duo de serina 612 (IRS-1 ser612) no m?sculo esquel?tico de obesos. Al?m disso, foi avaliada a frequ?ncia dos linf?citos T auxiliares (CD4+) e citol?ticos (CD8+) e das subpopula??es de mon?citos cl?ssicos (CD14++CD16-), intermedi?rios (CD14++CD16+) e n?o cl?ssicos (CD14+CD16++). Os participantes do estudo (n=27) foram alocados em tr?s grupos experimentais (eutr?ficos sens?veis a insulina, obesos sens?veis a insulina, obesos resistentes a insulina) de acordo com a classifica??o do estado nutricional, de acordo com o ?ndice de massa corporal e presen?a ou n?o de resist?ncia a insulina, definida pelo modelo de avalia??o da homeostase (HOMA1-IR). Amostras de sangue venoso e do m?sculo vasto lateral foram obtidas antes e ap?s uma sess?o de exerc?cio f?sico aer?bico realizado a 60% do VO2pico,em cicloerg?metro, com dura??o de 60 minutos. Para avaliar a frequ?ncia das diferentes popula??es de mon?citos e linf?citos T circulantes utilizou-se a citometria de fluxo. As an?lises da express?o da HSP70, ativa??o da JNK e fosforila??o do IRS-1 ser612 no m?sculo esquel?tico foram feitas pelo procedimento de western blot. Nossos resultados demonstraram que obesos resistentes a insulina apresentam uma maior frequ?ncia de mon?citos intermedi?rios e maior fosforila??o do IRS-1 ser612 comparado aos eutr?ficos, maior ativa??o da JNK e menor express?o da HSP70 em rela??o aos demais grupos. Ap?s 1 hora do t?rmino da sess?o de exerc?cio aer?bico houve redu??o da frequ?ncia dos mon?citos intermedi?rios (CD14++CD16+) e dos linf?citos auxiliares (TCD4+) circulantes. Adicionalmente, a sess?o de exerc?cio induziu no m?sculo esquel?tico maior express?o da HSP70, redu??o da fosforila??o do IRS-1 ser612 nos grupos de indiv?duos obesos e menor atividade da JNK nos obesos resistentes a insulina. Conclui-se que uma sess?o de exerc?cio aer?bico promove altera??es que caracterizam redu??o da inflama??o e/ou estresse celular, que podem contribuir para a modula??o da sensibilidade a insulina promovida pelo exerc?cio f?sico. / Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa Multic?ntrico de P?s-gradua??o em Ci?ncias Fisiol?gicas, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2012. / ABSTRACT
The great amount of free fatty acids and proinflammatory cytokines present in obese individuals may trigger insulin resistance, through the inhibitory phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS-1), via activation of kinases related to stress, such as kinase C-Jun N-terminal (JNK). In obese individuals, insulin resistance correlates with alterations of the immune system and lower expression of the heat shock protein of 72kDa (Hsp72) and increased activation of JNK in skeletal muscle. Considering that aerobic exercise improve insulin sensitivity and has an anti-inflammatory effect, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a bout of aerobic exercise in the expression of HSP70, activation of JNK and phosphorylation of IRS-1 in serine residue 612 (IRS-1 ser612) in skeletal muscle of obese patients. Furthermore, we assessed the frequency of helper T lymphocytes (CD4 +) and cytolytic (CD8 +) and subpopulations of classical (CD14 + + CD16-), intermediate (CD14 + + CD16 +) and non-classical (CD14 + CD16 + +) monocytes. Study participants (n = 27) were divided into three experimental groups (eutrophic sensitive to insulin, insulin-sensitive obese, insulin-resistant obese) according to the classification of nutritional status, according to the body mass index, and the presence or absence of insulin resistance, defined by the
homeostasis assessment model (HOMA1-IR). Venous blood and vastus lateralis samples were obtained before and after a bout of aerobic exercise performed at 60% of VO2peak on a cycle ergometer, lasting 60 minutes. To assess the frequency of the different populations of monocytes and T lymphocytes circulating we used flow cytometry. Analyses of of HSP70 expression, JNK activation and IRS-1 phosphorylation of ser612 in skeletal muscle were performed by western blot. Our results showed that obese insulin resistant subjects have an increased frequency of intermediate monocytes and higher phosphorylation of IRS-1 ser612 compared to normal weight individuals, and greater activation of JNK and lower expression of HSP70 than the other two groups. 1 hour after the exercise bout, we observed reductions on the frequency of intermediate circulating monocytes (CD14 + + CD16 +) and helper cells (CD4 +). Additionally, the exercise bout induced in the skeletal muscle higher expression of HSP70, decreased phosphorylation of IRS-1 ser612 in the obese groups and lower activity of JNK in the obese insulin resistant individuals. It is concluded that a bout of aerobic exercise promotes changes that characterize reduction of inflammation and / or cellular stress, which may contribute to the modulation of insulin sensitivity promoted by exercise.

after several weeks we have not observed further increase in oxidation. The
synthesis method was tuned to obtain mainly the ferromagnetic phase. The
system behaves like a core/shell structure with a ferromagnetic core and an
antiferromagnetic shell. Exchange bias e ect was observed at temperatures
below the N?el temperature. Both systems were submitted to an alternated
