Prata med din mattekompis! : En fallstudie om kommunikativa drag i matematikundervisningen i årskurs 1–2

Appelgren, Linnea, Gustavsson, Emma January 2024 (has links)

Expressões de pedidos em japonês falado por nisseis no Brasil / Expressions of requests in Japanese spoken by Nissei in Brazil

Douglas Kasunobu Ono 31 March 2014 (has links)
This present study analyzed the requests expressions used in Japanese by the second-generation citizen of Japanese ancestry in Brazil, observing strategies and forms of treatment used by informants, who have knowledge of the Japanese language. Through questionnaires, in which the informants answered as realize request in some situations, the data was collected in three cities: São Paulo, Suzano and Mogi das Cruzes, where there are several events of Japanese associations. Bearing in mind studies and theories about requests expressions and politeness, as Ide (1986 ) , Kumatoridani (1995 ) , Kabaya (2002 , 2003, 2006 ) and Silva (2008 ), analysis to discover the main strategies and forms treatment used by informants were executed, and also the main social factors that influence the performance of the informants when fulfill ones request was observed. With the result of the analysis, was showed up that the expressions of request used by the second-generation citizen of Japanese ancestry in Brazil are generally satisfactory, however, in situations, where the level of burden produced is high, there is a tendency to increase the amount of use of inadequate requests expressions. The social factors gender and the experience living in Japan were the most influenced to get better performance in fulfillment of request, because women and the second-generation citizen of Japanese ancestry with experience in Japan evidently obtained a better performance than men and informants who have never lived there.

Dynamic traffic assignment-based modeling paradigms for sustainable transportation planning and urban development

Shah, Rohan Jayesh 12 September 2014 (has links)
Transportation planning and urban development in the United States have synchronously emerged over the past few decades to encompass goals associated with sustainability, improved connectivity, complete streets and mitigation of environmental impacts. These goals have evolved in tandem with some of the relatively more traditional objectives of supply-side improvements such as infrastructure and capacity expansion. Apart from the numerous federal regulations in the US transportation sector that reassert sustainability motivations, metropolitan planning organizations and civic societies face similar concerns in their decision-making and policy implementation. However, overall transportation planning to incorporate these wide-ranging objectives requires characterization of large-scale transportation systems and traffic flow through them, which is dynamic in nature, computationally intense and a non-trivial problem. Thus, these contemporary questions lie at the interface of transportation planning, urban development and sustainability planning. They have the potential of being effectively addressed through state-of-the-art transportation modeling tools, which is the main motivation and philosophy of this thesis. From the research standpoint, some of these issues have been addressed in the past typically from the urban design, built-environment, public health and vehicle technology and mostly qualitative perspectives, but not as much from the traffic engineering and transportation systems perspective---a gap in literature which the thesis aims to fill. Specifically, it makes use of simulation-based dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) to develop modeling paradigms and integrated frameworks to seamlessly incorporate these in the transportation planning process. In addition to just incorporating them in the planning process, DTA-based paradigms are able to accommodate numerous spatial and temporal dynamics associated with system traffic, which more traditional static models are not able to. Besides, these features are critical in the context of the planning questions of this study. Specifically, systemic impacts of suburban and urban street pattern developments typically found in US cities in past decades of the 20th century have been investigated. While street connectivity and design evolution is mostly regulated through local codes and subdivision ordinances, its impacts on traffic and system congestion requires modeling and quantitative evidence which are explored in this thesis. On the environmental impact mitigation side, regional emission inventories from the traffic sector have also been quantified. Novel modeling approaches for the street connectivity-accessibility problem are proposed. An integrated framework using the Environmental Protection Agency's regulatory MOVES model has been developed, combining it with mesoscopic-level DTA simulation. Model demonstrations and applications on real and large-sized study areas reveal that different levels of connectivity and accessibility have substantial impacts on system-wide traffic---as connectivity levels reduce, traffic and congestion metrics show a gradually increasing trend. As regards emissions, incorporation of dynamic features leads to more realistic emissions inventory generation compared to default databases and modules, owing to consideration of the added dynamic features of system traffic and region-specific conditions. Inter-dependencies among these sustainability planning questions through the common linkage of traffic dynamics are also highlighted. In summary, the modeling frameworks, analyses and findings in the thesis contribute to some ongoing debates in planning studies and practice regarding ideal urban designs, provisions of sustainability and complete streets. Furthermore, the integrated emissions modeling framework, in addition to sustainability-related contributions, provides important tools to aid MPOs and state agencies in preparation of state implementation plans for demonstrating conformity to national ambient air-quality standards in their regions and counties. This is a critical condition for them to receive federal transportation funding. / text

The epistemic aspects when constructing arguments in a Didact Sequence in Ecology.

Ratz, Sofia Valeriano Silva 16 April 2015 (has links)
The study of argumentation and the construction of arguments has been more discussed in the field of research in science teaching. Changing the focus of study of the epistemic subject, from an individual perspective to an idea of a community of experts, allow us to analyze hoe the process of knowledge production, process of communication and process of evaluation of the scientific knowledge through epistemic aspect in the argument-construction process focusing on teacher and trainers. It aims to investigate the mobilization of teacher\'s Epistemic Practices when constructing arguments and its relation to the educator\'s Epistemic Moves, analyzing how the educator\'s actions favor the adoption of such practices and promotes the construction of arguments when using a didactic sequence application in Ecology in a continuing education workshop for science teachers. Through the relationship between the educator\'s Epistemic Moves and the mobilization of teacher\'s Epistemic Practices, it was possible to analyze the epistemic aspects in the construction arguments, based on the reference arguments that are within the scope of Didactic Sequence. Our results show two relevant aspects of this process: targeting and evaluation. The trainer\'s targeting aspect is based on the interaction between the goals of the Didactic Sequence and the community of learners. The evaluation aspect focusing on the construction of arguments, based on situations in which the orientation was related to the beliefs, values and knowledge in the present community. We highlighted the importance of developing more efforts to go deeper on the aspects related to relevant knowledge and the ways to acquire in the context of teacher training.

Movimentos e práticas epistêmicos e suas relações com a construção de argumentos nas aulas de ciências / Movements and epistemic practices and their relationship with arguments construction in science classes

Valle, Mariana Guelero do 06 May 2014 (has links)
This work has as main objective to understand the possible relationship between the movements and epistemic practices produced by the teacher and students and the construction of arguments. The analysis of the discursive interactions between a science teacher and students in 7th grade of elementary school (students with eleven and twelve years) along a didactic sequence entitled The rocky shore problem\". The methodology was taken from a qualitative approach and involved the analysis of the transcripts recorded on video. The didactic sequence was based on the competitive theories model, in which hypotheses that can sustain a claim are presented. In addition to choosing which hypothesis is appropriate, students should also elaborate justifications for the choices they made. The analyzes included the identification of relationships between time and scientific scholar practices or procedural display; identification of movements and epistemic practices arising from the interaction between teacher and students; product identification and argumentative process and comparative analysis of oral and written discourse of students during solving the problem. The epistemic practices found often specify the epistemic move highlighting the goal to which he proposes as the same epistemic move can be related to different epistemic practices. In the second part of the lesson epistemic practices can be related to the construction of arguments, which relate primarily to the assessment of the argument and verification of interpreting data/evidence. Students in general, through discursive interactions, and the mediating role of the teacher, were able to identify the data, organize information and then choose one of the hypotheses and produce oral and written discourse , which showed very distinct features in structure and composition.

School belonging : listening to the voices of secondary school students who have undergone managed moves

Craggs, Holly January 2016 (has links)
A sense of school belonging has a powerful effect on students' emotional, motivational and academic functioning. This phenomenological research synthesized qualitative literature presenting pupil voice on school belonging, investigated how secondary school-aged students who have undergone a 'managed move' experience belonging, and sought their views on the role stakeholders might play in promoting school belonging for managed move students. The author discusses policy and practice implications and outlines a dissemination strategy. The first paper is an interpretative meta-synthesis involving a process of reciprocal translation and synthesis of seven qualitative studies was used to examine secondary school students' experiences of school belonging. The second paper is an empirical study investigating how secondary school students who have undergone a managed move experience school belonging, and what they feel would promote a sense of school belonging for other managed move students. This research employed purposive sampling, an interpretative case study design and semi-structured phenomenological interviews. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to analyse data. The meta-synthesis (Paper 1) generated four main concepts: school belonging and intersubjectivity; school belonging and knowledge, understanding and acceptance of individual identity; school belonging and experiences of in-group membership and school belonging and safety/security, and the 'higher-order concept' of school belonging as 'feeling safe to be yourself in and through relationships with others in the school setting'. Superordinate themes identified in the empirical study (Paper 2) were 'making friends and feeling safe'; 'feeling known, understood and accepted as a person in receiver school'; 'identification of and support for SEN/D' and 'supportive/unsupportive school practices/protocols'. Findings indicated that a sense of school belonging for these students resulted from positive social relationships with peers and an attendant sense of safety, security and acceptance. Managed move participants expressed the desirability but also the perceived difficulty of forging relationships in a new school and acknowledged the value of sensitive and subtle support.

Automorphism Groups of Quandles

Macquarrie, Jennifer 01 January 2011 (has links)
This thesis arose from a desire to better understand the structures of automorphism groups and inner automorphism groups of quandles. We compute and give the structure of the automorphism groups of all dihedral quandles. In their paper Matrices and Finite Quandles, Ho and Nelson found all quandles (up to isomorphism) of orders 3, 4, and 5 and determined their automorphism groups. Here we find the automorphism groups of all quandles of orders 6 and 7. There are, up to isomoprhism, 73 quandles of order 6 and 289 quandles of order 7.

Essays in Revision Games

Kamada, Yuichiro 18 September 2012 (has links)
This dissertation consists of three essays related to revision games. The first essay proposes and analyzes a new model that we call “revision games,” which captures a situation where players in advance prepare their actions in a game. After the initial preparation, they have some opportunities to revise their actions, which arrive stochastically. Prepared actions are assumed to be mutually observable. We show that players can achieve a certain level of cooperation. The optimal behavior of players can be described by a simple differential equation. The second essay studies a version of revision games in which revision opportunities are asynchronous across players. In 2-player “common interest” games where there exists a best action profile for all players, this best action profile is the only equilibrium outcome of the revision game. In “opposing interest” games which are 2 x 2 games with Pareto-unranked strict Nash equilibria, the equilibrium outcome of the revision game is generically unique and corresponds to one of the stage-game Nash equilibria. Which equilibrium prevails depends on the payoff structure and on the relative frequency of the arrivals of revision opportunities for each of the players. The third essay studies a multi-agent search problem with a deadline: for instance, the situation that arises when a husband and a wife need to find an apartment by September 1. We provide an understanding of the factors that determine the positive search duration in reality. Specifically, we show that the expected search duration does not shrink to zero even in the limit as the search friction vanishes. Additionally, we find that the limit duration increases as more agents are involved, for two reasons: the ascending acceptability effect and the preference heterogeneity effect. The convergence speed is high, suggesting that the mere existence of some search friction is the main driving force of the positive duration in reality. Welfare implications and a number of discussions are provided. Results and proof techniques developed in the first two essays are useful in proving and understanding the results in the third essay. / Economics
