solubilidade e aumenta a estabilidade de substâncias frente a fatores químicos e ambientais. O
criptoxantina, 13-cis- β-Criptoxantina e 9 cis- β- caroteno.
A escolha
As
podem estar envolvidos no processamento e armazenamento de alimentos / The use of cyclodextrins as encapsulating agent is a technology that improves the solubility
and increases stability of the substances in front of chemical and environmental factors. The
aim of the present work was carry the inclusion of carotenoids obtained from red bell pepper
(Capsicum annuum), in cyclodextrins, ordering promote its solubility and stability in front of
the factors involved in processing and storage of foods. Initially, tests were performed to
choose the most appropriate solvents, being elected the ethanol:water (90:10) mixture,
followed by partition mixture solvents hexane:acetone to extraction of the pigments. The
determination of the major pigments was carried by hight performance liquid chromatography
(HPLC) identifying capsanthin, capsorubin, β-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin, 13-cis-β-
cryptoxanthin and 9 cis-β-carotene. Preliminary tests of molecular inclusion which were
carried with α-,β-and metil-β-cyclodextrins indicated β–cyclodextrins as being more
appropriate to follow up the experiments. The selection of the inclusion procedure was based
on the results obtained with characterizations tests, in particular, the yield and inclusion
efficiency. The procedure inclusion molecular of the extract in β–cyclodextrin by ultrasound
probe showed higher yield (54,48 %) and inclusion efficiency (62,43%) compared to
magnetic stirring, which showed values of 40,49% and 52,95%, respectively. The complexes
obtained by both molecular inclusion procedure were characterized by fourier transforminfrared
spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (RMN1H), differential scanning
calorimetry (DSC), size and particle distribution and Zeta potential. The characterizations
indicated that the ultrasound probe promoted greater interaction between the extract and β–
cyclodextrin compared to magnetic stirring. The antioxidant activity of the obtained extract
and complex were available by ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) method, and
demonstrated that the complex showed higher antioxidant activity compared to extract. The
complex obtained by ultrasound probe and the extract from red bell pepper were used in the
experiments to asses the combined effect of the variables pH, temperature and heating time on
the color stability, and the results showed that the extract is more liable to the action of these
parameters compared with the complex, indicating that the inclusion in β-cyclodextrin
increased the color stability from the red bell pepper extract while in solution. The same
samples were added in yogurt to assess the color stability during sixty days of storage. The
results revealed that the complex promoted a greater color protection compared to the added
yogurt extract not complexed. In conclusion, the inclusion of the red bell pepper extract in β-
cyclodextrin using ultrasonic homogenizer was efficient to the complex obtention with a good
yield and inclusion efficiency, beside collaborating to the color stability elevation in front of the parameters that may be involved in the processing and storage of foods

A Deep Reinforcement Learning Framework where Agents Learn a Basic form of Social MovementEkstedt, Erik January 2018 (has links)
For social robots to move and behave appropriately in dynamic and complex social contexts they need to be flexible in their movement behaviors. The natural complexity of social interaction makes this a difficult property to encode programmatically. Instead of programming these algorithms by hand it could be preferable to have the system learn these behaviors. In this project a framework is created in which an agent, through deep reinforcement learning, can learn how to mimic poses, here defined as the most basic case of social movements. The framework aimed to be as agent agnostic as possible and suitable for both real life robots and virtual agents through an approach called "dancer in the mirror". The framework utilized a learning algorithm called PPO and trained agents, as a proof of concept, on both a virtual environment for the humanoid robot Pepper and for virtual agents in a physics simulation environment. The framework was meant to be a simple starting point that could be extended to incorporate more and more complex tasks. This project shows that this framework was functional for agents to learn to mimic poses on a simplified environment.

Investigating the Social Influence of Different Humanoid RobotsThunberg, Sofia January 2017 (has links)
The aim with this thesis were to investigate social influence of the two humanoid robots, NAO and Pepper. The research questions were if there were a difference in human social acceptance, in social influence and in influence on human decision making between NAO and Pepper. To answer these questions, an experiment using the Wizard of Oz-method were used with 36 participant, 18 in each group, interacted with NAO or Pepper. Afterwards two questionnaires, NARS and GODSPEED, were answered and an additional interview were held with the participants. The result showed a significant difference on GODSPEED, where NAO indicates to have a higher amount of social influence on the participants then Pepper. The result for NARS were not significant. The result from the decisions made during the experiment indicated that humans follow NAO more than Pepper, a result that got more explained and understandable during the interviews. For future studies there would be interesting to test the scenario with a larger selection and also with a more natural Wizard of Oz-design.

Evaluation of warm season vegetables using sustainable production practicesArthur, Jacob 09 December 2022 (has links) (PDF)
Sustainable practices were evaluated for the production of two warm season vegetable crops, tomato and chile peppers. The first study investigated the plant vegetative growth, fruit production timing, yield components and fruit quality of three hybrid and three heirloom tomato cultivars grown in a high tunnel using grafted and non-grafted plants. Grafting the selected tomato cultivars with the two rootstock types did not alter total marketable yield of any cultivar, but affected overall stem diameter, fruit color, and β-carotene concentrations of tested tomato cultivars. The second study evaluated the plant growth, yield, and fruit quality of nine heirloom chile pepper cultivars treated with three types of biostimulants during 2020 and 2021. Biostimulant application did not affect marketable yield in 2020 or 2021, but enhanced fruit quality including fruit length, diameter, and green coloration.

Analysing the characteristics of soil nematode communities at pepper (Piper nigrum L.) cultivation area in Loc Hung commune, Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province: Research articleDuong, Duc Hieu, Bui, Thi Thu Nga, Tran, Thi Diem Thuy, Nguyen, Thi Minh Phuong, Nguyen, Huu Hung, Nguyen, Vu Thanh 15 November 2012 (has links)
Pepper (Piper nigrum L.) is a high economic value plant species that brings the main income to the people at Loc Hung commune. So the pepper’s yield plays a significant role in people’s life in this region. To assess the influence of environmental factors on the growth and development of pepper, we need to analyse the structural characteristics of soil nematode communities in order to promptly detect the levels of parasitic nematodes infection as well as assessment of soil environment status based on nematode communities. Study results at five sampling stations are analyses of 30 genera of nematodes belonging to 6 major trophic groups (bacterial feeders, fungal feeders, algal feeders, omnivores, carnivores and plant parasites). Calculation results of indices such as SMI, SMI2-5, MI and PPI showed that soil nematodes community is very little affected by the bacteria feeder group and the rate of parasitic nematode pepper quite severe. Analysis of correlation between trophic groups showed that nematodes are sensitive to environmental factors. This means the potential use of nematodes as a biological indicator for soil quality is possible.
