Samlingen som verktyg : Personal Information Management  och konstnärers personliga samlingar / The Collection as Tool : Personal Information Management and Artists’ Personal Collections

Eriksen, Jon January 2012 (has links)
The study set out to find how artists organize and use their personal collections from a Personal Information Management (PIM) perspective, and how that use affects their practice and their art production. A secondary object of the study was to articulate the ways that personal collections are utilized as tools by creative users.  The empirical data consisted of five qualitative, semi-structured interviews with Swedish and Norwegian sound artists. The constant comparative method was used for analysis, and Activity Theory was used as a theore- tical framework for the study. The study concluded that artists’ personal collections, while diverse in content and structure, serve the same functions as tools in creative processes, and that attention to the uses of personal collections highlight needs that could be better met by integrated PIM-functionality.  The study also concluded that artists constitute an underutilized resource for future PIM-research and that artists’ personal collection use provides insight into creative use of collections, and highlights potential direc- tions for future development of PIM tools. This paper is a two years master’s thesis in Library and Information Science.

Ett förlorat kulturarv? : Digitala personarkiv – problem, lösningar och framtid / A Lost Cultural Heritage? : Digital Personal Archives – Problems, Solutions and Future

Jansson, Ina-Maria January 2012 (has links)
This thesis has focused on digital born personal archives; how they are different from analog paper archives and possible ways to overbridge these differences. It is also studied how archivists and librarians are dealing with digital archives, what they think about new proactive solutions when collecting private papers and collections and positive and negative effects with this way to work. The thesis is delimitated to only private collections and digital created material. It do not concern digitized material or electronic documents in government or business organizations. The challenges in digital curation and administration are discussed in aspect of the Records Continuum Model. The empirical material is also put in relation to research in Personal Information Management and identity theory. Two qualitative methods have been used, a case study of an authors personal electronic archive and five deep-going interviews with archivists and librarians working with personal collections in university libraries. This study shows that many difficulties and problems displayed in the electronic archive could be solved in the future with a more proactive approach and early cooperation with the collector. By educating and informing creators of personal records about file formats, archival structure and the need of them to engage in their own collection, more personal digital records could be preserved. Librarians and archivists are imagining more proactive work in the future but are also asking for other solutions. A lot of the challenges united with electronic personal archives are associated with lacking continuity which is a reason to use the Records Continuum Model to explain and work with personal digital collections. This is a two year master’s thesis in archival science.

The Art Subject in Thailand : A study about the role of the art subject in some schools in Thailand

Eklund, Chica January 2007 (has links)
Historically the art subject has never had a main role in the school education. The main subjects in Sweden have been mathematics, Swedish and English, even if the other subjects also have been important. Unfortunately the subject of art has been considered less important. For a long time the art subject has been a subject that only teaches the students how to paint in different ways, but lately it has been noticed that the art subject has more qualities, for example concerning personal expressions. Now we can confirm that the art subject does have an important role in the school world, but how big a role? With the help from interviews and literature studies, this essay wants to show if this ideology and knowledge already has been used in other countries, in this case Thailand. Through my interviews and examinations I could confirm that the responders consider the art subject important for the students’ creative thoughts and personal development. The question is: is this only an opinion or is it something that has already been used? My practise in the Thai schools has therefore been useful for me in this essay, since I could closely study the art subject, and see everything with my own eyes. _____________

Ledning av uthyrd personal

Andersson, Karin, Karlsson, Julia January 2006 (has links)

User¡¦s Risk Management for the Personal Data of the Cloud Computing Service Industires

Huang, Yen-Lin 06 August 2012 (has links)
With the rapid development of Information Technology, ¡§Cloud Computing¡¨ is becoming increasingly popular in the industry as it is accessible to various data processing services just by connecting to third-party cloud service providers via network. A new global technological trend has thus been ushered as a result of powerful processing, elastic usage and low cost of the cloud computing. Although ¡§Cloud Computing¡¨ provides a cloud which is more large-scaled, relevant and beneficial, most practical cloud patrons are aware that what matters is its corresponding security. Any who has ever used the Internet, whether an enterprise or an individual, will inevitably run the risks of information recorded, copied, leaked, deleted inappropriately or accidently or even used for inappropriate purposes by third-parties. The private data and business secrets of the stakeholders of an enterprise, including its customers, partners, employees or suppliers, will also suffer from the information vulnerability. Therefore, as for the cloud computing industry, what matters for the government, enterprise or individual is to provide an information security shelter rather than a network environment in which the personal data is highly exposed. Cavoukin (2010) argues that the issue of information security related to the cloud computing is one of issues in the public domain. The data generated from the digital cloud computing management and the people involved are so large that each citizen is drawn to be concerned with the government policies and laws (Lee, 2010). In this paper, we make a risk management for the cloud computing and discuss the risk management mechanisms for the cloud computing industry with the Freeman¡¦s stakeholder theory.

Frameworks for Personalized Privacy and Privacy Auditing

Samavi, M. Reza 13 August 2013 (has links)
As individuals are increasingly benefiting from the use of online services, there are growing concerns about the treatment of personal information. Society’s ongoing response to these concerns often gives rise to privacy policies expressed in legislation and regulation. These policies are written in natural language (or legalese) as privacy agreements that users must agree to, or presented as a set of privacy settings and options that users must opt in or out of in order to receive the service they want. But comprehensibility of privacy policies and settings is becoming increasingly challenging as agreements become longer and there are many privacy options to choose from. Additionally, organizations face the challenge of assuring compliance with policies that govern collecting, using, and sharing of personal data. This thesis proposes frameworks for personalized privacy and privacy auditing to address these two problems. In this thesis, we focus our investigation on the comprehensibility issues of personalized privacy using the concrete application domain of personal health data as recorded in systems known as personal health records (PHR). We develop the Privacy Goals and Settings Mediator (PGSM) model, which is based on i* multi-agent modelling techniques, as a way to help users comprehend privacy settings when employing multiple services over a web platform. Additionally, the PGSM model helps privacy experts contribute their privacy knowledge to the users’ privacy decision-making task. To address the privacy auditing problem, we propose two light-weight ontologies, L2TAP and SCIP, that are designed for deployment as Linked Data, an emerging standard for representing and publishing web data. L2TAP (Linked Data Log to Transparency, Accountability and Privacy) provides flexible and extensible provenance-enabled logging of privacy events. SCIP (Simple Contextual Integrity Privacy) provides a simple target for mapping the key concepts of Contextual Integrity and enables SPARQL query-based solutions for two important privacy processes: compliance checking and obligation derivation. This thesis validates the premise of PHR users’ privacy concerns, attitudes and behaviour through an empirical study. The usefulness of the PGSM model for privacy experts is evaluated through interviews with experts. Finally, the scalability and practical benefits of L2TAP+SCIP for log-based privacy auditing are validated experimentally.
