Salvador

Föreställningar om naturfotografin En studie av naturfotografers syn på tendenser och förändringar inom naturfotografin / Conceptions of nature photography A study of nature photographers’ view of movements in nature photographyRicklund, Lina January 2003 (has links)

The purpose with this essay is to examine the role of landscape photography as a portrayer of nature. The study contains interviews with eight landscape photographers, to find out how they look at tendencies and changes in photography. The essay focuses on the discussion of authenticity and realism in landscape photography. Due to the requirement of nature as something natural and authentic, the landscape photography stands in a special position when it comes to matters of manipulation and influence. On the basis of certain analysis themes, the landscape photographers debate questions such as where landscape photography stands today, and how the future looks for the genre.
/

Evelyn Cameron: a study in three parts of her photography, diary, and life in MontanaVan Genderen, Kate 05 September 2017 (has links)
Evelyn Jephson Cameron (1868-1928) was born to a wealthy merchant family outside London. At the age of twenty-five, she moved to Terry, Montana to raise horses and homestead with her husband, Ewen Cameron. Evelyn Cameron recorded their time in eastern Montana in her daily diary entries, which span over thirty-five years from 1893 to 1928. She became a self-taught professional photographer, and made thousands of photographs with large-format cameras of the people in the towns of Terry, Fallon, and Marsh. She photographed the landscape, birds, and other animals she kept as pets or encountered in the wild. She wrote in her private diary nearly every day, offering a first-person point of view of life for women in the late nineteenth-century in the American West. This thesis focuses on three particular aspects of Cameron’s life. The first chapter focuses on spaces or mediums that Cameron had access to that offered her autonomy and privacy, things which were often difficult for women to find at this time. These spaces and mediums include her photography, her diary, and her darkroom, all of which gave her different sorts of calm or control. The second chapter delves into Cameron’s photographic portraits of herself and other women, looking into how women portrayed themselves and others in the American West. Cameron depicted herself as a part of the natural world, and she also did so when capturing other women. The final chapter analyzes Cameron’s identity as a Montanan, from her conscious choice to move there to her refusal to return to Britain permanently. She gained American citizenship in 1918 and took living in Montana seriously. Her diary reveals a deep awareness of the natural world and records accomplishments and events that help to build and strengthen her relationship with her chosen home. / Graduate / 2018-08-25

Vývoj české sportovní fotožurnalistiky od poloviny 20. století / The development of czech sport's photojournalism from the middle of 20th centuryHejbal, Dominik January 2016 (has links)
The paper deals with the development of the Czech journalistic sport photography from mid 20th century until recent time. Conditions that influenced the work of sports photographers are mapped, whether it was technical equipment, political constraints or other relevant facts. The paper mentions key events that have had importance in the Czech sports photography. The very beginnings of the Czech sports photography are described, too, to add context with the period followed. Furthermore, some noteworthy cases are mentioned, such as career change of a professional sportsman to a sport photographer. Ethically doubtful practices, once quite frequent, are followed, too. Another infrequently studied area of interest is discussed, which is the phenomenon of successful pictures of neglected events. The paper also provides the reader with a list of the foremost Czech sports photographers, a quantitative analysis of sport photos in the Rude Pravo daily (name later changed to Pravo). Main moments of change are studied from the point of view of the extent of the sport photography on the pages of Czech dailies. Since this topic has not been extensively covered by books, an important part of the paper is based on original interviews with veteran Czech sport photographers, including Stanislav Tereba, the only Czech winner...

Horvat, Les, les.horvat@rmit.edu.au January 2007 (has links)
Through a qualitative study of professional photographers who were born overseas, or whose parents were born overseas; this research aims to provide an analysis of factors brought about by cultural dislocation, and how these factors may affect the creative process. Although of recent times a variety of approaches with regard to creativity research have been explored, and despite the importance for educators to gain a better understanding of creativity, the effect of cultural disruption upon creative output has not been addressed. This would seem to constitute a significant deficit in the overall research literature, and suggests a gap in the understanding of the conditions and parameters mediating the creative experience. This study examines ontological notions of identity and self-hood, and claims that imaginative and perceptual awareness are heightened as a consequence of cultural dislocation. The mechanism for this creative amplification is proposed as resulti ng from increased metaphor generation and an adjustment of temporal perceptions. The influences upon selfhood are illustrated using a constructed
