Utveckling av produktionslayout av monteringsavdelning på GARO AB / Development of the production layout of the assembly department at GARO AB

Huynh, Nhi January 2012 (has links)

Automation i orderplockprocessen : En kvalitativ intervjustudie

Zhao, Zaixi, Ivarsson, Simon January 2023 (has links)
Background: With the exponential expansion of E-commerce, rising labor cost and higher customer expectations have pushed the implementation of advanced automation technology in warehouses. The order-picking-process is considered to be the most labor intensive and most expensive labor cost in warehouses. It has a crucial part to determine the lead time and customer satisfaction and because it is the last procedure before the order is shipped it can have negative effects on delivery quality, future customer relations and the overall satisfaction.  Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to evaluate how automation can help in the order picking process by studying the companies Shelfless and Exsitec to understand its effect on efficiency, cost and to understand the barriers and motivations to implementing it.  Method: This paper is based on a qualitative interview study with a deductive approach. The analysis method is based on within case analysis and cross-case analysis. Within case analysis is used to develop an understanding of each company to then later use a cross-case analysis to examine the difference between the two companies. Conclusion: The conclusion is that automation in the order picking process can increase the productivity whilst lowering the cost at the expense of a high installation fee with some disadvantages during the installation process like lower productivity, less flexibility. Although in the long run automation will be necessary to keep up with the growth of the companies.

A study of the order picking process at PostNord Logistic - improving the picking process by identifying factors that inhibit the prodctivity

Larsson, Hanna, Tica, Selma January 2017 (has links)
The goal of this study was to find factors affecting the pickers’ productivity negatively, in the order picking process, and to suggest a change that can increase the pickers’ productivity. By a qualitative approach the initial situation at PostNord was studied. The obtained results, after analyzing the initial situation, showed various factors that affect the pickers’ productivity negatively. All these contributed to waste, meaning that the picker did not use its time correctly according to Lean theory. These factors were analyzed and categorized into four problem areas, which are quality of tools, standardization of routines and leadership, article placement and jam in the corridors. Possible suggestions to improve the situation can be done with smaller or bigger changes. One solution is to improve the work procedures by standardizing the methods, which could be done by cooperating more with PEMA and using the pickers’ knowledge. Some suggestions and adjacent activities must be investigated further to find the best solutions.

Digitalisering av plockprocess : En fallstudie på Bilvårdsgrossisten / Digitalization of the picking process : A case study at Bilvårdsgrossisten

Rosvall, Hampus, Lindestam, Viktor January 2018 (has links)
Background: According to Richards (2014) digitalization has transformed the order picking process and improved accuracy as well as productivity significantly. The company Bilvårdsgrossisten considers their order picking process to be working fairly well but it has some flaws that can be solved by digitalization. They are therefore interested in making the process more efficient through through digitalized solutions and they also want information on what is required to implement these solutions. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the company's picking process how it looks today to identify flaws and problems. Based on these flaws, the work aims at discussing options that can improve this process through digitization. This, in support of the choice of digitization for the case company and other companies in a similar situation. Furthermore, the purpose is also to investigate how these solutions can be implemented and to develop criteria that are required for implementation and to prepare for any problems or challenges. Method: The method of study is of a qualitative nature and, in order to answer the study's questions, the authors have used a case study at Bilvårdsgrossisten. There has also been a comparative study with a company within the concern, which in the study is called Koncernbolaget. Empirics has been collected through semi-structured interviews and observations. Conclusion: In the studied company´s picking process, the following flaws have been identified: errors in the sorting of picklists, picking errors, empty stock when pickers are about to pick up articles, picking up smaller items slowly, picking separately for each customer order, and low productivity. In question two, solutions in digitization have been analyzed and compiled in a table where they are linked to the identified flaws of Bilvårdsgrossisten. In summary, many of the identified flaws can be linked to all the digitized solutions presented and that the use of WMS is a major factor in the solutions. Finally, question three has shown that when implementing new solutions, Bilvårdsgrossisten can expect some resistance from employees, financial and time-related investment will be required. It will require strategy, planning, leadership of change as well as system support. In conclusion, the management w

Effektivisering av plockningsprocessen i tvätterier : Fallstudie hos Berendsen, Ockelbo

Höglenius, Kevin, Kovac, Denis January 2018 (has links)
In addition to transport within the business, stock management is one of the largest expenses in the supply chain. Within stock management the picking process takes place. It's important that this process works well because many other factors depends on the picking being efficient. Making the picking process more efficient is an extensive process and requires investment to be completed. However, investments are necessary to reduce management costs. This can be done by, among other things, redesigning the picking process, using new equipment, changing layouts or automating processes. This study will build upon earlier research and contribute with a new angle of incidencein order to fill the gap regarding streamlining the picking process in the laundry business. The purpose of the study is to investigate and contribute with layout ideas as well as working methods on how laundry companies can go from batch-picking to stock to picking directly towards customer orders. The aim of the study is to develop solutions that, in application, can lead to the efficiency of the picking process in the form of reduced transport distances, reduced labor demand and more utilization of storage space at the lowest possible investment cost. The study was carried out at Berendsen in Ockelbo and will be defined to study their flow for flat goods in the care industry, but will also take flat goods in the hotel industry into account when designing the layout proposals as they occupy a large part of the storage space. The study was initiated by creating an analysis of the current situation that was completed to further investigate the picking process. The analysis was done through observations and interviews with employees who had relevant knowledge in the area. Based on the current situation, some problems with the picking process were identified. The identified problems were random assorting, insufficient conveyor belts, double handling in the picking process, unused storage space and lack of storage marking. The solution proposals will be based on a requirement specification based on previous theory and a discussion with Berendsen's management. The proposals made on the basis of the identified problems are a new process flow diagram, conveyor belt proposals and a layout with suitable working methods. This study concludes that laundry, based on the proposed solutions can go from batch-picking to storage to instead pick directly to customer orders by streamlining their picking process.

Zetterberg & Neichalani, Adam & Saman January 2023 (has links)
Abstract  The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the order picking process for different sized items on different floors. The thesis purpose was also to study how the warehouse layout is affected by different sized items. The study also aimed to identify different ways to streamline order picking by optimizing the layout. To answer the research questions, qualitative studies were conducted where interviews and observations were used to investigate different activities on different floors of the case company. The result revealed the large items on different floors have a great impact on the layout as large items require special handling and can otherwise lead to inefficient picking times. By implementing restructuring of different items on the upper floor and implementing inventory systems such as ABC-analysis, the order picking process can be streamlined. This leads to reduced picking time as the picker doesn’t have to travel unnecessarily long distances. The result of this study can be useful for companies that work with large items and want to improve their order picking process. For further research, it is suggested to evaluate the proposed measures in practice.

Brister och åtgärder i en distributionscentrals produktionsprocess : En fallstudie på Staples AB i Växjö / Shortcomings and measures in the production process in a distribution center : A case study at Staples AB in Växjö

Gredelj, Melita, Sadikaj, Emine January 2019 (has links)
Nyckelord: Logistik, Lager, Automatiserat lager, Manuellt lager, Plockprocessen, Plockning, WMS, Manuella brister, Automatiserade brister / Title: Shortcomings and measures in the production process in a distribution center - A case study at Staples AB in Växjö Authors: Melita Gredelj & Emine Sadikaj Tutor: Hana Hulthén Examiner: Peter Berling   Background: The most time- and labor-intensive process in the warehouse is the picking process, which includes retrieving objects from storage locations to fulfill customer orders. The picking process also accounts for a large part of the warehouse's costs and it is therefore important to examine it to increase the efficiency of the organization. Much of that cost goes to the workforce who works with this manually. Today, there is great potential for making this process more automated.   Purpose: The aim of the study is to show what measures are available for deficiencies in manual and automated picking processes within companies that supply office supplies.   Method: The implemented study is a case study at Staples. Data has been collected through semi-structured interviews at Staples but also through questionnaires that were answered by Atea and Office Depot. The aim of the study has been to find out which shortcomings exist in a picking process and how these can be fixed.   Conclusions: A company that supplies office supplies can streamline its picking process and fix its picking error by using automated solutions, such as WMS. This helps these companies integrate their systems, which will support the daily inventory work by, for example, displaying real-time information of what is in the warehouse and where it is located. By having this system, warehouse workers do not need to pick by memory or experience, and they can always rely on the system. By implementing it, costs can decrease sharply.   Keywords: Logistics, Warehouse, Automated Warehouse, Manual Warehouse, Picking Process, Picking, WMS, Manual Shortcomings, Automated Shortcomings
