This diploma thesis Interaction of media and marketing discourse on the media image of musician Tomáš Klus examines the influence of the corporate agenda through the marketing and PR department of a record label Sony Music Entertainment Czech Republic s.r.o. on the agenda of the media, which represent the work of three full-scale Czech newspaper MF Dnes, Právo a Blesk. The theoretical approach is being built on the basic theses of media construction of reality and construction of media image, the concept of agenda setting and issue of the music industry. Thus, areas involved and influence the marketing and media world and form the basic framework of the theoretical structure of media reality. The empirical part is devoted to a particular process of agenda setting on an example of the media image of a Czech musician Tomáš Klus over three years through marketing and PR department of a record label Sony Music Entertainment Czech Republic s.r.o. sampled for analysis of print media - newspapers MF Dnes, Law and Flash. The goal is to trace how and to what extent the marketing discourse influences the media discourse and how does this interaction influence the musician's final media image.

Spółka Nakładowa Młodych Kompozytorów Polskich (1905-1912) and the Myth of Young Poland in Music

This study deals with the four-composer Polish musical association, Young Polish Composers' Publishing Company, which became commonly known as the group Poland in Music. Young Poland in Music is considered by Polish and non-Polish music historians to be the signal inaugurator of modernism in Polish music. However, despite this most important attribution, the past eighty-odd years have witnessed considerable confusion over the perceptions of: 1) exactly who constituted the publishing company, 2) why it was founded, 3) what the intentions of its members were, and 4) the general reception its members' music received. This paper addresses and resolves this multiple confusion. Chapter I presents an introductory survey of the political, socio/cultural, and musical developments of Poland between 1772 and c1900, the period of the Polish Partitions through the beginnings of the "Young Poland" era. Chapter II presents a discussion of the facts surrounding the founding of the publishing company, as well as a discussion of the eighty-odd years of historical misinterpretations that have developed about the composers' company and its relationship to "Young Poland in Music." Chapter III discusses the interpersonal relationships of the composers and other persons directly involved with them and their company, and the impact that these relationships had on the publishing company. Additionally, the chapter brings into focus the specific relationships between the musicologist, Adolf Chybiński, the company, and its individual members. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the actual publishing activities of the company. Chapter IV examines the three concerts sponsored by the company and their critical receptions in Warsaw and Berlin through the surviving reviews and comments of leading contemporary music critics, the concert participants, the composers' close colleagues, and the composers themselves. Finally, Chapter V contains a brief discussion of the music presented on the three concerts, characterizing the works within the context of their initial critical reception.

Brazil participates intensively in this trend, both following the performance of its higher education institutions (IES) in the global rankings and producing its national public rankings, from the indicators of the National System of Evaluation of Higher Education (SINAES), and private, as those of the Student Guide (GE) and the University University Ranking (RUF). However, the country has previously had a pioneering academic ranking at the national level of IES, which was published for 19 consecutive years, in a monthly magazine of high circulation of Editora Abril: the ranking Best Faculty of Brazil (RMFB) of Playboy. This research aimed to investigate the trajectory of the RMFB private academic ranking of Editora Abril in the Playboy magazine, from conception to its closure, between the years of 1981 and 2000. In view of the still reduced specific literature in Brazil, this research was contextualized in a state of the art regarding academic rankings and their implications for HEIs around the world, in the light of international scientific literature, which subsidized the understanding of the role of academic rankings for higher education systems, studied the trajectory of the published RMFB by the Brazilian Playboy magazine, identified the main moments of its public trajectory, from its conception in 1981 until its closure in the year 2000, verified aspects of Brazilian higher education present in the reports associated with the RMFB, observed the pioneering of this national academic ranking in Brazil and in the world, and finally raised the methodological aspects and analyzed its main published results along the RMFB trajectory. It is a fundamentally qualitative research that has carried out a methodological triangulation between bibliographical and documentary analyzes and also through semistructured interviews, articulated in order to produce a greater analytical completeness of the phenomenon studied to reach the research objectives. As conclusions of this work we have observed academic rankings expanding in quantity and relevance since the 1980s to our days and all over the world, Brazil as having the first national academic ranking through the Playboy RMFB while the scientific literature still attributes this fact to the US News magazine's America's Best Colleges (RABC) ranking, the journal's team with extensive dialogue with the main actors of Brazilian higher education, and the ranking tables published by this ranking demonstrating a dominance of the University of S?o Paulo ( USP) in the first places of the courses surveyed in most of the 19 editions of the RMFB. / Rankings acad?micos, ?ndices e tabelas classificat?rias internacionais, regionais e nacionais s?o fen?menos presentes na educa??o superior desde o s?culo XX e que v?m se expandindo neste s?culo XXI, com a presen?a dos rankings globais da Universidade de Shangai e do jornal brit?nico The Times. Intersektionalitet i bokbranschen : En analys av mångfald hos huvudkaraktärer i ungdomsböcker, baserad på tre förlags utgivning år 2015

Syftet med detta arbete har varit att undersöka tre av Sveriges största bokförlag och hur deras utgivning har sett ut när det kommer till mångfald av hudfärg, sexualitet och olika typer av sjukdomar inom ungdomslitteraturen. Till syftet fanns det två frågor som skulle besvaras: Hur har utgivningen av ungdomsböcker (12 år och uppåt) hos tre stora bokförlag sett ut under 2015 när det kommer till mångfald? Hur ser mångfalden ut hos huvudkaraktärerna ut i de utgivna böckerna? För att nå syftet med arbetet användes både kvalitativ och kvantitativ undersökning, vilket medförde att det blev två typer av undersöningar, dels en undersökning kring mångfalden hos huvudkaraktärerna, men även en statistisk undersökning där resultatet visade att mångfalden inte var så stor bland huvudkaraktärerna som man kanske skulle vilja att den var. Resultatet av undersökningen visar att det finns en bit kvar innan mångfald är något normalt, men det är en liten bit på väg. / The purpose of this paper has been to look at the publishing done at three of Swedens biggest publishing houses, and how this publishing has looked in terms of adversity, such as skin color, sexuality and different types of illnesses and disabilities in youth literature. There where two questions that needed to be answered and they where: How has the publishing of youth books (age 12 and up) been during 2015 with these three big publishing houses, when it comes to adversity? How has adversity been portrayed in the main characters of the published books? To reach the purpose of this paper it was important to use both qualitative and quantitative research, which lead to it being two different types of research, one which looked at the adversity with the main characters, and one which became a statistical one that showed the lack of adversity amongst the main characters. The results of the research showed that there is still quite a way to go before youth literature has the kind of adversity that todays society needs.

This, the first study at doctoral level of any white female jazz instrumentalist, provides an overview to the long, active and enduring musical career of British-born, New York-based jazz pianist, Marian McPartland (born 1918). For over six decades, besides being a pianist and a composer, she has been prominent in the professional roles of educator, writer, record producer and recording artist, radio broadcaster and advocate. The scope and impact of this multi-layered career are conveyed through the medium of a Website profiling significant aspects of her professional life through textual, aural and visual presentation. Although not claiming to be exhaustive, this Website brings together a comprehensive collection of data covering all aspects of Marian McPartland's career. Data have been gathered and collated from material in the public domain, and all such sources are acknowledged and referenced. The Website is navigable through three links at the bottom of the Home Page - 1) Historical Perspective; 2) Selected Analyses; and 3) Marian McPartland In Context. Part One of the Website provides access to Marian McPartland's various professional roles in jazz, as well as public profiles, and is consolidated by listings of support material. Part Two of the Website contains formal analyses of four of her compositions, each preceded by a short introduction. The analyses are based on scores transcribed from her recorded improvisations. Abstract in English language This work depicts the life story story of a "self-made man" Jaroslav Salda, the creator and director of the Melantrich, the biggest printing company in Czechoslovak time of so called First Republic. It is doing so by compiling interviews with period witnesses, archival documents and literary sources. Each chapter is a part of the answer to the question: How is it possible that the illegitimate child without funds and university education had become the man with extensive expertise, the frequent guest of Ministers and the President and the powerful head of the media industry? This text as a whole, firmly tied to the history of the Czech nation and Melantrich, reflects the experience of the man who dedicated his life to building, because he considered the constructive, innovative, diligent and hard work the main means of fulfillment in life and the key to success. It shows a person which embodies the adage: Where there is a will, there is a way. The Prague based Haase printing and publishing company played an important role in the development of polygraphy, typography, significantly contributed to the Czech national revival and during its existence collaborated with many artists in some cases of world importance. This PhD thesis tries to bring knowledge to the applied graphic art in the Czech lands in general, but also describes the most important historical events of the Haase company, especially these with influence on its art production. The PhD thesis examines the process of graphic work creation and tries to place selected works in the context of work of individual authors and the fine art in the Central European area in general. It is also focused on the nationality issue and the role it played in the selection of artists with whom the Haase company collaborated.
