Residencia de estudiantes en Lima Norte / Student residence in North Lima

Angeles Small, Mariana 10 January 2022 (has links)
University life is a stage of changes and new experiences, where in addition to facing academic life, a large number of young people who find the opportunities they where looking for in Lima, must begin to live by themselves, away from their home and family. The university experience doesn’t only take place in the classrooms, but it takes place largely at home, and that is why housing conditions play a very important role in the performance of students, since they provide an environment that encourage the study, or are an obstacle for this to happen. These conditions prompted the proposal of a student residence for the accommodation of students in the north of Lima, with the aim of offering quality housing, with spaces that promote a life of study. For this, the common spaces will be the main spaces of the project, integrating everyone directly (spaces for meeting and interaction), and indirectly (visual integration) from wherever you are, where students won’t live isolated, but as a community that positively influences their academic life. / Tesis

CHEMICAL EVOLUTION AND RESIDENCE TIME OF GROUNDWATER IN THE WILCOX AQUIFER OF THE NORTHERN GULF COASTAL PLAIN

Haile, Estifanos 01 January 2011 (has links)
This study aims to integrate groundwater geochemistry and mathematical modeling to determine the dominant geochemical processes and groundwater residence time within the Wilcox aquifer in the northern Gulf Coastal Plain. Groundwater samples were collected and analyzed for major ion chemistry, stable isotopes (18O, 2H, and 13C), and radioisotope 36Cl content. Geochemical modeling enabled the identification of major sources and sinks of solutes in the aquifer. A two-dimensional, finite-difference, numerical model was used to determine the deep groundwater flow rate and transport of 36Cl in the aquifer. Major ion chemistry shows a chromatographic pattern along the flow path in which a gradual increase of Na+ and decrease of Ca2+ and Mg2+ is evident. The most plausible inverse models in the downgradient section of the aquifer indicate that oxidation of organic matter (OM), which may be associated with discontinuous lenses of lignite, and consequent release of CO2 sustain the reduction of Fe(III) (oxyhydr)oxides and sulfate and the dissolution of carbonate minerals (calcite and, in some instances, siderite). These processes, in turn, result in pyrite precipitation and exchange of Ca2+ for Na+ on clay-mineral surfaces. Models constrained with 13C are consistent with mole transfers between pairs of wells in close proximity, but not for the entire flow path. The observed range of δ13C of dissolved inorganic carbon (-7.3‰ to -12.4‰) is interpreted as a result of both oxidation of OM and dissolution of carbonates. Calculated values of 36Cl/Cl show an abrupt discontinuity between the upgradient and downgradient sections that was also observed in δ18O and δ2H data. The gradual enrichment of 18O and 2H along the flow path could be the result of diffusion. The distinct differences in δ18O and δ2H between the upgradient and downgradient Wilcox aquifer suggest that the latter preserves a paleoclimatic signal.

The Study for Household Duration of Residence-Apply the Survival Analysis

Unknown Date (has links)
Although there are lots of studies exploring migration, few of them focus on analysis household duration of residence. Duration of residence is an important source of information for a variety of private and pubic decisions and for the understanding of various social and economic phenomena. This study makes a residence duration comparison between owners and tenants. Due to cumulative stress and inertia, moving probability will be increased or decreased. We attempt to describe the duration of residence is positive or negative time dependent. This study also provides the evidence that house and household characteristics determine the duration of residence. This empirical study employs the survival analysis and uses the data from Panel Study of Family Dynamics. The result indicates that the survival function of owners is larger than of tenant. Duration of owner residence is 3.11 times longer than that of tenants. Generally, household moving probability is positive while the owner’s is negative. Research finding further reveals that ping per person is negatively related to residence duration. Age and household size are positively related to residence duration.

A comparative examination of outcomes of a longitudinal professional development experience in writing instruction in schools for kindergarten to grade three

Matczuk, Lynn Allyson 11 January 2017 (has links)
Professional growth is a complex process that requires thoughtful planning, persistence in execution, collaboration, and a common goal if it is to be successful. Classroom teachers have many opportunities to participate in professional development, but experiences vary and it is important to determine which have the greatest effect. The purpose of this comparative study was to examine the strengths and differences of three models of professional learning communities involved in a three-year project to improve writing instruction in kindergarten to Grade 3 classrooms. Based on the work of Routman (2008a), professional staffs at treatment schools were involved in a multi-year, inter-divisional, professional learning community. Teachers and principals in the project participated in one of three experiences of varying intensity. Results are compared to a control group of schools. The study design takes a pragmatic worldview and utilizes mixed methodology to conduct an ex post facto, quasi-experimental analysis. Artifacts collected from 2009 to 2012 include questionnaires, written self-evaluations, and samples of student writing, that were examined to determine the degree and nature of change in principals’ increased perceptiveness of the school literacy team, teachers’ increased sense of efficacy in writing instruction, and significant changes in student writing. These are compared to samples from a control group of schools that were not involved in the experience. Several aspects of this multi-year project bring to light three critical observations. First, real-time, live experiences with an expert facilitator have a dramatic effect on teacher learning. Second, students in the first four years at school are capable of much more sophistication in writing than is generally expected. Third, principals’ involvement as educational leaders is critical to enduring teacher change and ongoing student improvement. / February 2017

Simulation par CFD et mesure en ligne de la distribution des temps de séjour et la qualité de mélange dans une extrudeuse bi-vis / CFD simulation and online measurement of the residence time distribution and mixing quality ina twin- screw extruders

Zhang, Xian-Ming 10 November 2008 (has links)
Alors on fait appel à des simulations numériques de type CFD / The development of new materials with improved properties seems to rely nowadays more on blending and compounding than on the synthesis of chemically new polymers. Mixing may have a great effect on the morphology and structure of multi-component polymer materials. Twin-screw extruders (TSE) are widely used as mixers/reactors for blending, compounding, and reactive processing. This work aimed at developing a new instrument to measure in real time the residence time distribution (RTD) which characterizes the axial mixing and transport abilities of different screw elements based on the analysis of the transient flow pattern and systematic evaluation of mixing theory in TSE. Distributive mixing of polymer melts is characterized by the generation of interfacial area, which is experimentally much more difficult to measure. This 3D numerical simulation based on CFD is adopted

To stand on your own in a new country. : A qualitative study on how staff at HVB-homes for unaccompanied children, strive to prepare them for a life after placement.

Cederqvist, Fanny, Aberham, Helen January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how staff at homes for care or residence (HVB-homes) work towards helping unaccompanied children to become self-sufficient. The study is based on a qualitative approach and we have done eight semi-structured interviews with staff from different HVB-homes. The study shows how staff in different HVB-homes uses different strategies to create opportunities for the children to integrate into Swedish society as well as the conditions that are necessary for the children to cope on their own. Our results have shown that routines help the unaccompanied children to manage their time efficiently and maintain a functional life with school, health and extra-curricular activities. By executing different tasks on their own such as cooking or doing their own laundry, the children learn to manage on their own. Staff shows the unaccompanied children how Swedish society works as well as the values and norms that exist to aid them in getting accustomed to their new environment. The staff motivates the children to go to school in order for them to acknowledge the beneficial aspects of education and to help develop their language. Trust, security and healthy relations have shown to be a prerequisite to maintain a functional relationship between the unaccompanied children and staff at the HVB-homes. Creating a network for the children by having them join different associations and extra-curricular activities such as soccer has also come to help the children integrate into Swedish society.
