Unknown Date (has links)
The Sephardic ballad collection contains ballads of varying themes, many of which have been forgotten in Spain, where they were originally sung by Jews, Christians, and Muslims. A popular theme within this genre is that of women committing adultery and transgressions which in many of the ballads is punishable by death. A brief history of the Sephardic Jews and their literary and oral tradition is included. An emphasis is placed on women's role in ballad tradition and the importance of transculturation and mimesis within the oral tradition, both significant to the survival of a tradition that has been continued for over five centuries, encompassing various regions around the world. The analysis focuses on two ballads in particular ; the "Celestine Romance", which shares a similar plot to La Celestina, written by Fernando de Rojas, and the ballad of "The Adulteress", a popular ballad within several traditions. / by Inbal Mazar. / Abstract in English. / Signature page unsigned. / Thesis (M.A.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2008. / Includes bibliography. / Electronic reproduction.

Chávez Rodríguez, Juan Manuel January 2008 (has links)
Tesis

Heideggerian Authenticity in La Celestina and Don Quijote de la Mancha

Smith, Stevenson George 01 April 2018 (has links)
This study explores the intersection of the philosophy of Martin Heidegger and Spanish literature. The study examines the Heideggerian authenticity and inauthenticity of two characters in the literature: Melibea in La Celestina by Fernando de Rojas and Grisóstomo in Don Quijote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. Heidegger’s concept of authenticity is the ability of the individual to live in the world according to her own desires, outside of the influence of others. Both die by suicide, but Melibea is an authentic character in Heideggerian terms and Grisóstomo is inauthentic. At the end of her life, Melibea has resolved all anxiety into resoluteness and is determined to live life in her own terms. Grisóstomo, however, dies inauthentically, full of anxiety and subject to the will of Others. He never leaves the influence of others to live a life of his own determination.

Rojas Amador, Paula 25 March 2019 (has links)
Our research-creation addresses the problematic of adapting a narrative text to the theater when it comes to incorporating the possibilities offered by the digital media, and adopting the expanded text that follows. For this adaptation process, which is moving away from the traditional process, we opt for an intermedial approach. We focus more particularly on the hypermedia theater, which allows us to question the connections that occur between the visual, sonic, spatial and textual writings, as well as on their dynamics of co-presence in the theater scene. An essential part of the methodology of this research-creation rests on the development of a series of scenic research laboratories in which videographic, sound and spatial devices have been created. These devices have been integrated into the dramaturgical creation presented in the form of an intermedial script. Chapters 1 and 2 touch on the conceptual framework. In the first chapter, we present the concepts of intermediality, theater as hypermedia, intermedial writing and other concepts that allow us to discuss adaptation and its relationship with the media. In the second chapter, we study video, sound, space and text in relation to digital media. In addition, we reflect on the dramaturgical composition of each of these expressive elements and the points of reference that can contribute to the conception of dramaturgy. Chapters 3 and 4 discuss the practical and creative aspects. In the third chapter, we describe scenic devices in the four scenic research laboratories and creative processes. We make an intermedial analysis. We also discuss the working protocol that emerged from these practical experiences in the Laboratory of New Technologies of Image, Sound and Scene (LANTISS). Finally, in the fourth chapter, we present the dramaturgical work entitled “The World Does Not Stop” and its process of creation.

The role of co-operatives in North End Winnipeg's urban revitalization

Intertas, Mark Aurelio 06 January 2017 (has links)
The North End is one of the most colourful areas in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Plagued by urban decay, the North End is a melting pot of cultures and catch basin for many marginalized people. In the face of adversity, people unite under similar ideals and principles to work towards common goals. This unity is exemplified in co-operatives, which has been in the North End for decades. Co-ops exhibited outstanding camaraderie with the goal of alleviating adverse social conditions. Today, the co-op sector, exemplified by Pollock’s Hardware and Urban Eatin’ Landscapes, continue to operate in the area like conventional business, while practicing social and environmental responsibility under a common set of principles. Due to their ideologies and principles, their impact on neighbourhood and community revitalization is more profound than expected. Through case studies, this research found that co-ops offer urban planners and government officials a complimentary method to conventional urban revitalization methods. Co-operative Urban Revitalization starts by uniting marginalized people and empowering them to devise solutions to social and economic problems. / February 2017
