Previous issue date: 2009-02-27 / Pontif?cia Universidade Cat?lica de Campinas / The interpersonal relationships are important facets of individuals lives, and for those who suffer from chronic diseases, the presence of relationships helps on facing the illness and acceptation of the treatment. The AIDS is an infectious disease, chronic and transmittable, caused by the HIV virus contamination. This contamination caused by AIDS brings physical consequences (lipodystrophy and metabolically disturbs, for example) and psychological ones too, such as anxiety, depression, impotence feelings and apathy, affecting specifically the relation-affective field (prejudice, rejection). The aim of study was to evaluate the psychometrical properties of the Portuguese version of the Central Relationship Questionnaire (CRQ 6.0) of HIV positive outpatients. The CRQ 6.0 is a self-report instrument, based on the Core Conflictual Relationship Theme (CCRT) whose as goal is to assess the central relationship pattern of romantic partners, according to three components: Wish (W), Responses from de Other (RO) and Responses of Self (RS). To the Valid Convergent of CRQ 6.0 study, it was used as external criteria the Symptoms Evaluation Scale (EAS-40), which evaluates psychopathological symptoms. The sample was composed of 50 individuals diagnosed with HIV(G1; 60% male; average age:41,84 years old) and 40 people accompanying other patients to the hospital (G2; 62,5% female; average age: 34 years old). As about the results, the CRQ 6.0 has presented good internal consistence, with Cronbach Alpha coefficients ranging from 0.80 to 0.87 similarly to other international researches. The CRQ 6.0 has presented as well, evidences of convergent validity, with positive and significant association between each one of the CRQ 6.0 components and factors from EAS-40 (from 0.23 to 0.57). Results pointed yet to evidences of discriminant validity of the CRQ 6.0 and EAS-40, with significant differences between G1 and G2 (Mdn from G1= 3,09; Mdn from G2= 2,78; p= 0,032) and between female and male to D from G1 (Mdn fem. = 2,43; Mdn male= 2,03; p= 0,014). Researches with large samples should be conducted . = 2,43; Mdn do sexo masc.= 2,03; p= 0,014). Pesquisas com amostras maiores devem ser realizadas.

Previous issue date: 2015-07-03 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The vampire is one of the most famous creatures in the history of terror. Originated from folk beliefs and legends, he won editorial and film notoriety. During the twentieth as well as early twenty-first centuries, his figure has undergone a series of transformations which ensured his permanent success with the public. In the process, his image gained new possibilities of interpretation. This study aimed at identifying and analyzing the transformations in the vampire figure and his romantic relationships in films produced in the period comprised from1922 and 2012. In addition, we had the specific aim of reflecting on the changes that have been occurring in masculinity and loving relationship nowadays. In order to do so, the qualitative method was used. The following films were watched and analyzed: Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror (1922), Dracula (1931), Horror of Dracula (1958), Nosferatu, the vampire of the night (1979), Bram Stoker's Dracula ( 1992), Twilight (2008), New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Parts 1 (2011) and 2 (2012). Those ten films were described and analyzed through the theoretical principles of analytical psychology. Such procedure was base on images, significant events and sequences regarding the composition of vampire characters, women desired by them, and the type of relationship established between them. The relationship with their antagonists and other influential characters in each film were also taken into account. Through the filmic production analyzed, it was noticed that some aspects were added to the vampire figure, while others became extinct or have undergone retrofits. The analysis suggests that in such trajectory, the vampire started integrating humanity as well as embodying heroic features. In such humanizing process, the importance of the affective bond that the vampire started establishing with the woman chosen by him was highlighted. Symbolically, the contact between repressed male traits and the anima takes place. Guided by the feminine principle, feelings and emotions − once dark − have become conscious, thus enabling integration to take place. Research also suggests that masculinity can be transformed to the extent that man has contact with the shadow, thus not only becoming aware of their emotional, erotic and creative content, but also establishing less projective relationships. Such aspects, when assimilated and reconciled with the ego, assist in establishing romantic relationships in which predominates otherness / O vampiro é uma das mais famosas criaturas na história do terror.

Previous issue date: 2009-08-27 / The aim of this study is to understand the romantic relationship choice of couples consisting of male adolescents who have committed criminal offenses and their female partners, as well as the continuation of the relationship after the determination of socio-educational measures of deprivation of freedom, through the identification of the relationship patterns found in the families of each of the members of the couple. Two couples in a government instituion of Distrito Federal that carries out such measures were studied from a qualitative perspective. Individual interviews were performed with each member of the couple and a genogram was constructed. The results showed that the family plays a fundamental part in the transmission and repetition of male and female roles in the romantic relationship and in the establishment of communication styles and rules. With regard to gender issues, the relationships of the couples are based on a patriarchal model in which the man exercises his power and domination while the woman focuses on affective, care, and obedience relationships, even when the adolescent is institutionalized / Este estudo tem o objetivo de compreender a escolha amorosa de casais constituídos por adolescentes autores de atos infracionais e suas companheiras, bem como a manutenção do relacionamento após a determinação da medida socioeducativa de privação de liberdade, a partir da identificação dos padrões relacionais presentes na família de cada um dos membros do casal.

Young adults' perceptions of parental differential treatment: measurement and relations to psychological adjustment, attachment style, and close relationships.Young, Laura Clare 31 August 2011 (has links)
The present study evaluated a newly developed self-report questionnaire assessing young adults’ perceptions of their parents' current differential treatment of them and their siblings. This study also explored the influence of young adults' perceptions of parental differential treatment (PDT) on their general adjustment, sibling relationship quality, and romantic relationship adjustment. Attachment style was hypothesized to mediate the relations between PDT and these psychosocial outcomes in young adulthood. Participants included 275 university students and non-student community participants aged 18 to 25 years. Participants completed multiple-choice questionnaires assessing the variables of interest. The factor structure of the new measure of perceptions of PDT was confirmed by results of confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation modelling, and this new measure showed good internal consistency and good convergent validity when compared to another widely used self-report measure of PDT. Young adults’ perceptions of higher overall levels of PDT, regardless of which sibling was favoured, and their perceptions of being treated less positively than their siblings were associated with poorer general and romantic relationship adjustment, more insecure attachment style, and poorer quality sibling relationships. A control variable, social desirability, was found to be related to self-reports of lower levels of perceived PDT, more secure attachment style, more positive parent-child and sibling relationships, and better general and romantic relationship adjustment. Results of path analyses showed that attachment style partially mediated the relations between maternal and paternal PDT and sibling relationship quality. Attachment style fully mediated the relations between maternal and paternal PDT and adjustment, and between maternal PDT and romantic relationship adjustment. PDT was related to sibling relationship quality even after accounting for the influence of overall parent-child relationship quality and perceptions of unfairness of PDT. The present study’s strengths and limitations and the implications of the current findings for clinical practice and future research are discussed. / Graduate

The Prediction Of Psychological Distress Following A Romantic Relationship Dissolution: Relationship Characteristics, Problem Solving Skills, And Self- EsteemUzgel, Burcu 01 July 2004 (has links) (PDF)
The main purpose of the present study was to investigate whether gender, certain relationship characteristics (time elapsed since the dissolution, being the dissolver or the sufferer part, duration of the relationship, sexuality, the broken relationship being the first relationship ever, any present partner, importance of the relationship, importance of the dissolution), problem solving skills, and self- esteem were predictors of psychological distress following a romantic relationship dissolution. It was also aimed to examine the relationships between some relationship characteristics (duration of the relationship, and time elapsed since the dissolution), and psychological distress.
The sample consisted of 213 Middle East Technical University students who were out of a romantic relationship within the last year. The data were gathered by administering Problem Solving Inventory, Brief Symptom Inventory, Rosenberg&rsquo / s Self- Esteem Scale, and Demographic Information Form. Multiple hierarchical regression analyses, and analyses of variance were conducted to test the aims of the study.
According to the results of the study, the importance of the dissolution, the status of any present partner, time elapsed since the dissolution, impulsive style of problem solving skills, and self- esteem were found as significant predictors of psychological distress following a romantic relationship dissolution. On the other hand, it was found that gender, duration of the relationship, sexuality, being the dissolver or the sufferer, importance of the relationship, the broken relationship being the first relationship ever, and and the remaining five subscales (reflective style, avoidant style, monitoring, problem- solving confidence, planfulness) of problem solving skills did not emerge as significant predictors of psychological distress. In addition, time elapsed since the dissolution yielded significant effect on depression. The findings of the study were discussed in the light of the relevant literature.
