[en] Considering the ideas of the historian Robert Gerwarth (2006) concerning
the predominance of the cultural and historical studies that bind the events of the
Republic of Weimar (1918-1933) to the immediate past of the Great War,
obliterating previous influences on this period, and also taking in account the
thesis of Rosenblum (1975) that points to the existence of a Romantic northern
tradition, this work intends to study the dialogue between elements of the
Romantic culture expressed in Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau´s Nosferatu film -
without leaving aside the influences of the Expressionist movement and the sociocultural
context of Germany´s postwar period.

Odborné zájmy a harmonie s přírodou. Snahy hraběte Jiřího Buquoye o intelektuální seberealizaci / Intellectual Interests of George, Count of BuquoyMORAWETZ, Michal January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation discusses the intellectual interests of George, Count of Buquoy (1781-1851), who gained fame in the first half of the nineteenth century through his inventions of new technical devices, his efforts to improve manufacturing technologies used on his estates, his contacts with leading scientists and philosophers of the time, and his original scientific and philosophical treatises. This dissertation scrutinises the writings kept in Buquoy's archival estate, as well as his published works, and discusses the reactions his thoughts elicited among contemporary scientists and various other people within Buquoy's intellectual milieu. Methodologically, I draw on contemporary approaches to studies of intellectual history, which aim to interpret and contextualise particular ideas with regard to the author's immediate background and the broader intellectual climate of the time. Aiming to avoid biographical fallacy, I focus on pivotal moments of Buquoy's scientific career without attempting to integrate them into a biographical narrative by means of supposed causality. The thesis is structured as a chronologically ordered discussion of key themes and defining moments in the development of Buquoy's thought. Particular attention is paid to the influences which formed Buquoy's intellectual outlook, including his upbringing, education, the experiences he gained during travels, the knowledge he absorbed from scholarly treatises, and the views he exchanged with contemporary scientists. I show how these factors influenced the themes Buquoy chose to discuss in his treatises and the ways in which he presented his arguments. An important part of the thesis is a deconstructive analysis of Buquoy's self-presentation strategy, through which he sought to align himself with the scientific community. Finally, the thesis discusses the fundamental philosophical views underpinning Buquoy's intellectual endeavours in the field of science.

This research is within the field of historical and cultural studies. Thus, the historical analysis employed here aims at understanding the literary artistic phenomenon, namely the XIX century Romantic Indianism. In this aspect, Indianism is seen as a historical invention, that is, it arises involuntarily within the European thought and within the Romantism aesthetic precepts, which later became the result of writers’ conscientious work and project in order to create both a national culture and literature, having the Indian as its central figure. By using sociologist Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical and methodological precepts – in which artistic production is strongly connected with the political field – the research seeks to show the connection between the romantic literary field in formation and the political field. Thus, the role of the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (Brazil’s Historical and Geographical Institute - IHGB) is analyzed in this historical invention process. The IHGB congregated the literate elite of the Court, among who were important indianist writers such as Gonçalves Dias and Gonçalves de Magalhães. The Institute was also accountable for the vast production of knowledge on the Indian. This production was responsible for shaping the aesthetic possibilities regarding the Indians through the representations of them. Furthermore, the IHGB was the main stage of a fierce argument on the viability of making literature having the Indian as its central figure, showing the different positions the intellectuals of the period held about the Indianist Literature. With this, the research shows that Indianism comprises a historical invention having the IHGB as its main stage.

La poésie et la « révolution de l’existence quotidienne » / The poetry and the "revolution of the everyday life"Billon-Grand, Pascal 22 September 2010 (has links)
From the first german romantism, at the end of the XVIIIth century, to the International Situationnist, in the 1960’s, through the futurist, the dadaïst and the surrealist avant-gardes, poetry became one with the project of a global and permanent revolution of the everyday life. During almost two centuries, all these poets have tried to reconcile the marxist and the rimbaldian key-words « transform the world » and « change the life ». In doing so, they redetermined the forms and the practices of the poetry, as well as the terms and the stakes of the revolutionnary socialist program, determining what we call a « Twentieth century socialism ». Beyond the classical range of the litterary writing, poetry has now to be realized into new acts and behaviours, transposing all the potential of creativity contained in the letters and the fictions until now. Its main characteristics (autonomy, developement of the desires, creativity and ability to redynamize and to impassion reality) define a new way of life and its perception of the universe as a dynamic system defines a new political model based on the same principles of self-government, creativity and social dynamism. All along this work, we have tried to define and to analyze the stakes and the practices linked to such a project, up to now. We have processed the history of ideas with one purpose : to define the stakes of varied and convergent practices, their contributions and their limitations, in order to incorporate them into what we called a « theory of practices » and to create the basis of a new practical theory for the present times.

O sertanejo e LourenÃo: a construÃÃo mÃtica do herÃi regionalKamila JÃssick Duarte da Costa 00 November 2016 (has links)
No segundo,
analisados. / This dissertation has the purpose of analyzing the construction of the Brazilian regional
hero by a comparative study among the novels O sertanejo, by Josà de Alencar, and O
matuto and LourenÃo, by Franklin TÃvora. A parallel was drawn between the
protagonists of the referred wefts, observing similarities, tensions, contrasts and
dialogues in their constructions, as well as reflecting about their relations with the
sociocultural context in which they are inserted. Because of attempting to create, affirm
and consolidate a national literary tradition, Josà de Alencar and Franklin TÃvora wrote
novels that portrayed an exuberant nature and the sociocultural aspects of certain
localities of our country, creating regional heroes compatible with reality presented in
narratives. This study is divided into three chapters. In the first, we emphasize the
heroâs mythical character and its incidence in literary scope, what brings the necessity
of discussing the novel heroâs construction, with prominence to the romantic hero and
its construction in the national scenario. In the second, we discuss about regional line
in the Brazilian literary tradition, more specifically, in the end of the romantic period.
Finally, the last chapter deepens our discussions related to each authorâs literary
projects, their influences in the creation of these novels and in their respective heroes,
but, specially, we demonstrate these heroesâ problematic character. This dissertation,
so, aims to better understand the novels analyzed by these two authors, contributing
the studies relating to these literary works and to the construction of their respective
heroes.

The present work seeks to analyse some aspects in Michael Lowy's sociological thought, its main sociological premises regarding thinkers as Karl Mannheim and Max Weber. Regarding to Weber, we will try to analyse Lowy's proposals about the incorporation of the weberian method on a dialectic instead of the eclectic way. In a second moment, this work also seek to analyse the concept of "elective affinities" in Michael Lowy's works. Such concept arises through Max Weber in the scope of Social Scienses, above all in the "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism". This is another aspect of Weber's thought wich Lowy has appropriated and utilized to analyse some pictures as the "liberation judaism" and the "liberation theology". However, we states that the Low's studies about Freedom Theology have some aspects that need to be discussed again, because he emphasizes the "fusion" and "simbiosis" between two pictures related to each other: the marxism and the christianism. We seek, based on the Antonio Gramsci thoughts, to argue that the emphasis in the fusion between the pictures end up hindering the dialectic movement, not realizing the needs of such movement to be continued / Mestrado / Teoria Sociológica / Mestre em Sociologia

Jogos e Cenas do Casamento : construção e elaboração das personagens e do narrador machadianos em Contos Fluminenses e Historias da Meia Noite / Games and scenes of the Marriage : construction and elaboration of the "machadianos" characters and the narrator in Contos Fluminenses and Historias da Meia NoitePereira, Cilene Margarete 14 March 2008 (has links)

Abstract: In ¿Jogos e Cenas do Casamento¿, our main objective is to introduce a detailed study of the construction and the way Machado de Assis elaborates his characters and narrators in Contos Fluminenses (1870) and Histórias da Meia Noite (1873). If we consider the mainstream image that joins the thirteen narratives of this collectanea, we will see thal all of them ¿ the apparent exception is ¿Aurora sem dia¿ ¿ are love stories that bears as a mainstream image/theme the marriage, either in the preparations that happen before the contract or its ceremonials aspects, either in conjugal intimacy of conceived homes. Moreover, there is a bigger link between the stories and an image that is itself preponderant: the failure of marriage. The ¿machadianos¿ ladies and heroes are constructed the difficulties and matrimonial problems, generated most of the time by father impositions or expectancy (mediated for literature) and love experiences of the involved ones. These characters are in last hypothesis, the ones that take the images of failure and introduce them to reader. But in this process of catching love and marriage, almost always there is a narrator whispering something on the ear¿s reader about the characters and the loving image constructed by the character. In this way, the matrimonial images and scenes are filtered for expositions of the characters and narrators, intervening in the loving conception of each other. Thus, this study prioritizes not only the characterization of the first ¿machadianos¿ characters, but also the tale¿s narrators as a way of examining better how they both construct these loving images and from where other possible associations are born and defined, once they deal, most of the times, with inexperienced men and women in relation to love and the reality of marriage. / Doutorado / Literatura Brasileira / Doutor em Teoria e História Literária

[en] GOLD RUSH: THE ROMANTICISM OF GILBERTO BRAGA / [pt] A CORRIDA DO OURO: O ROMANTISMO DE GILBERTO BRAGACLAUDIO FELICIO PIFANO SILVA 03 August 2010 (has links)
Celebridade (2003). / [en] Beyond the time limits that restrict the period between the late eighteenth
century to the mid-nineteenth century, Romanticism is a worldview that remains
in many cultural, political and social forms in a indirect or explicit way, but
always with a ambiguity sign that allows the understanding of the phenomenon
both as a rejection of the bourgeois society, and as a way to adjust to the capitalist
system through the scape from reality and individualism. Considering this
conflicted aspect of the romantic sensibility, the objective of this work is to
investigate its stay in mass culture, taking as its object the TV novel of Gilberto
Braga with an emphasis on money as an agent of the dissolution of values. The
work starts from the connections between the romantic phenomenon of
melodrama and the feuilleton in its original context, to think how is the recovery
of their traces in the peripheral modernity, highlighting how the novelist updates
the European patterns in dialogue with the José de Alencar’s writing
feuilletonistic models and also with other authors of radio novels and tv novels,
especially Janete Clair. As corpus for the analysis were selected the novels
Senhora (1975), Vale Tudo (1988) and Celebridade (2003).

[en] IMPULSE AND SPATIALITY IN LANGUAGE: FROM THE ROMANTICS TO COGNITIVE BIOLOGY / [pt] IMPULSO E ESPACIALIDADE NA LINGUAGEM: DOS ROMÂNTICOS À BIOLOGIA COGNITIVAMARIA LUISA NOUJAIM TEIXEIRA 18 February 2021 (has links)
[pt] Com o proclamado fim do historicismo iluminista, a História começa a adentrar o
campo epistemológico do espaço.
dilatação do presente, segundo Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht. Desta forma, o fio
Goethe, a
[en] With the proclaimed end of Enlightenment historicism, History begins to enter the
epistemological field of space. This is notable for the dawn of network
communications, the ecological narratives, in short, the clouding of the future and
the dilation of the present, according to Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht. Thus, the
argumentative thread of the thesis consists in presenting a spatiality rooted in the
origin of language, contemplating the symbolic question in J.W. Goethe s
Morphologie; W. von Humboldt s formative linguistics; and the romantic
developments in a twentieth-century phenomenology of language, orbiting mainly
around the contributions of Andre Leroi-Gouhran and biologist Humberto Maturana.
