"Hur ser verkligheten ut?" : Socialarbetare på individ- och familjeomsorgens (IFO) upplevelser av rutiner och riktlinjer kring hot och våld på arbetsplatsen

The purpose of this study was to examine social workers view on the implementation of routines and guidelines related to workplace violence. How it is prevented and their thoughts about how the routines and guidelines around this subject are working from paper to practice. Violence is a general problem, although it´s more pronounced in organisations with close contact with clients. Laws regarding workplace state that both employers and employees are obligated to see to that the prevention work is fulfilled. The essay aims to find out if this is working in the real life or what the problem could be if it´s not working. The research approach of this study is qualitative and four semi-structured interviews are used. The obvious results were that there are flaws in the staff's knowledge of their own guidelines and action plans. The staff perceived that the workplace offers training about workplace violence and that there are meetings revolving around this subject but nonetheless they felt insecure about what to really do if a situation of violence occurs. The social workers also admitted that none of them had read the documents for prevention work. Although the workplace has clear routines and guidelines, much more work needs to be done to engage the employees and make everyone work together.

Specifika sociální práce s romskou mládeží / The Specifics of Social Working with Young Romanies

This diploma thesis focuses on the problematic of the specifics of social work with Roma youth. The first chapter contains theoretical basis, which divides into two parts. The first part deals with the Roma minority, its customs, history, culture and then also Roma youth and their social problems. The second section of the theoretical part is devoted to social work. These findings were processed from the professional literature. For the research part of the thesis, a qualitative strategy was chosen, as well as the questioning method and the technique of semi-structured interview. The research was conducted in the South Bohemian region, there were contacted social workers who work in a low-threshold institutions for youth or in a community centre and meet Roma youth. Overall ten workers agreed with cooperation. The aim of the thesis was to find out which specifics of social works do the social workers notice when working with Roma youth. Regarding this aim, research questions were set, focusing on which specifics do the social workers see in the social work with Roma youth, if there occur differences according to whether the work is carried out by a woman or a man, and also what are the techniques and methods used by the workers. From the research emerged, that the workers see the specificity in individual approach to every client, establishing and then maintaining of a confidential relationship, or in setting the rules. Most of the workers agreed, that both men and women are very important in this job, because every one of them is a different role model. However, they see some differences in better obedience and easier gain of authority, in case the social worker is a man. They also listed group work, community work, terrain work, various tasks and client-oriented approach.

This role has been prescribed by tasks which were dictated by the study. Industrial social work formed the theoretical background for this study. Social work in the South African Police Service is described in foundation in terms of its origin and development, mission and objectives. The empirical survey was carried out according to the nominal group technique and a structured interview schedule. Social workers, chaplains, psychologists and managers/ officers commanding on the staff of the South African Police Service, Head Office and its divisions, were used as respondents. Role a postavení sociálních pracovníků v systému sociální péče v Mongolsku / The Role and Status of Social Workers in the Social Care System in Mongolia

The Diploma thesis deals with the role and status of social workers in the social welfare system in Mongolia defines the basic concepts and characteristics of a social system care in contemporary society. With the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, fell in Mongolia communist regime and adopted a free market economy. Rapid political and economic changes over the last decade has caused many families poverty, many of them have lost the opportunity to care for their children. As a result, many children left their families, many are homeless and live on the streets or in institutionalized orphanages. The road to democracy was attacked corruption, economic crisis and political movements. In July 2008 along political committees have brought hope to a common agreement. In Mongolia, social work began its operations in 1997 as a result of the recognition of the needs of professional intervention in urgent social problems caused by social, political and economic transformation from a communist Mongolian society to a democratic, which took place in 1990. Democratic change has laid a solid foundation for the promotion of social justice, human rights and civil society development in the country. Social work as a professional discipline in Mongolia is new, so the next challenge for social workers is to introduce and popularize the role of social work. Even more important is the pursuit of the development of the national identity of the social worker. Given the novelty of professional and institutional development is needed to develop programs designed to support local, national and regional needs and priorities, to promote professional development and practice-based learning, and create educational resources. The qualitative research was conducted four interviews with social workers, each of them working in different areas of the city. The fifth interview I had with a professor in the Department of Social Work at the University of UlanBator. Data obtained through interviews I compiled using open coding. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the issue of social care in the capital UlanBator. The operational objective of the thesis is to identify specifically describe and analyze the current status of social workers. The research showed that in Mongolia is not clearly defined system of Social Work and Social Services Act, which would define the exact role of social workers. In today's society in Mongolia role of the social worker is varied. The issue of social work is that the Mongolian government is focusing more on cash assistance, but does not take account of social work in the form of direct intervention to the citizens. The opportunity to study abroad is expensive, costs associated with the study must cover themselves. The contribution of this work is to contribute to the understanding of the overall situation of social workers and obstacles to their further development. Our results obtained could also contribute to the understanding of social work in general.

The aim of this study was to investigate social workers experiences about collaboration with the police in domestic violence issues. About how social workers felt about abilities to improve collaboration in their work. The empirical data consists of qualitative interviews with 11 social workers within the social services in Sweden. In Härnösand, Sundsvall, Gustavsberg och Malmö. The social workers recognized theoretical benefits with collaboration. The social workers also recognized major dificulties in their practice. The practical dificulties caused feelings of frustration, dissatisfaction and insufficency among the social workers. They showed major pessimism about their current work situation. Nevertheless they expressed good-will in their work. All social workers expressed that improvements were necessary. The results of the interviews were analyzed using qualitative content-analysis, and the new institutional theory of organization. The conclusions of the study are: The dificulties were mainly caused by circumstances within the social services organisation rather than between the social services and the police. / <p>2018-05-21</p>

Apresenta os marços e momentos históricos da profissão, iniciando com o conhecimento prévio sobre o Serviço Social no Brasil nas décadas de 30 e 40. Este período marca um acontecimento importante no desenvolvimento da profissão, vincado especialmente pelo enfrentamento e pela denúncia do conservadorismo profissional. É neste processo de recusa e crítica do conservadorismo que se encontram as raízes de um projeto profissional novo, precisamente as bases do que se está denominando Projeto Ético Político Profissional. Socialt arbete i en modern era : Kritisk diskursanalys om mediers skildring av socialt arbete

The main purpose of this study was to analyze how Swedish media portrays social work. The collected material underlying the analysis was published during the period 2007-01-01 to 2017-10-08 in Svenska Dagbladet and Dagens Nyheter. The study focused on how social services and social workers were constructed in the articles, what discourses could be identified and what power structures were made visible inthe discourses. The chosen method was based on Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis and more specifically his three-dimensional model. Furthermore, the analysis was conducted on the basis of the social constructionist and discourse theoretic perspective that formed the basis for analysis and interpretation of the material. The study's findings of the material showed that the four dominated discourses of social services in the articles were: criticizing the social services, social services bureaucracy, the work environment at social offices and progressive areas of social services. These discourses showed high interdiscursivity, which refers to are production of the current discourse regime. Furthermore, the study showed that Swedish media depreciate social work to a lesser extent in comparison with other countries. However, results showed that Swedish media often tend to portray social work with ill-founded claims, as the previous research also showed. / Syftet med denna studie var att analysera hur svenska medier skildrar socialt arbete. Det insamlade materialet som låg till grund för analysen publicerades under tidsperioden 2007-01-01 till 2017-10-08 i Svenska Dagbladet och Dagens Nyheter. Studien fokuserade på hur socialtjänsten och socialarbetare konstruerades i artiklarna, vilka diskurser som kunde urskiljas och vilka maktstrukturer som synliggjordes i diskurserna. Den valda metoden utgick från Norman Faircloughs kritiska diskursanalys och mer specifikt hans tredimensionella modell. Vidare genomfördes analysen utifrån socialkonstruktionistiskt och diskursteorietiskt perspektiv som låg till grund för analys och tolkning av materialet. Studiens resultat av empirin visade att de fyra dominerade diskurserna av socialtjänsten i artiklarna var kritik mot socialtjänsten, socialtjänstens byråkrati, arbetsmiljön på socialkontoren och progressiva yrkesområden av socialtjänsten. Dessa diskurser visade på hög interdiskursivitet, det vill säga att en reproduktion av den rådande diskursordningen. Vidare visade studiens resultat att svenska medier skildrar det sociala arbetet negativt i mindre utsträckning i jämförelse med andra länder. Dock visade resultat att svenska medier ofta tenderar att skildra socialt arbete med grundlösa påståenden, vilket den tidigare forskningen också visade. / <p>2018-06-04</p>

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur barnperspektivet beaktas i socialtjänstens handläggning av ekonomiskt bistånd. Metoden som använts är en kvalitativ intervjustudie, där sex socialsekreterare som arbetar med handläggning av ekonomiskt bistånd inom en viss kommun har intervjuats. Studien utgår från handlingsutrymme som teoretisk tolkningsram. Studien är av relevans för socialt arbete då barn som befinner sig i familjer med ekonomiskt bistånd utgör en utsatt grupp som riskerar att hamna i fortsatt social utsatthet även i vuxen ålder. Studien visar att en majoritet av socialsekreterarna uppfattar barnperspektivet som otydligt angivet och att det finns en osäkerhet i hur man ska arbeta utifrån detta. Studien visar även att barn tenderar bli osynliga i handläggningen av ekonomiskt bistånd, samt att socialsekreterarna uppfattar att de inte har tillräckliga förutsättningar att arbeta utifrån ett barnperspektiv. Studien visar vidare att majoriteten av socialsekreterarna hyser önskemål om att arbeta mer utifrån ett barnperspektiv. / The purpose of the essay is to investigate how the child perspective is taken into consideration in the social services' management of financial assistance. The method used is a qualitative interview study. Six social workers within financial assistance have been interviewed. The study is based on the theory of discretion, and is of relevance to social work since children in families who receive financial assistance constitute a vulnerable group who is at risk of ending socially vulnerable even in adulthood. The results of the study show that most of the social workers perceive the child perspective as unclear. The study also shows that children tend to be invisible in financial assistance, and that the social workers perceive that they do not have sufficient conditions to work from a child perspective. The study further shows that most of the social workers have a request to work more from a child perspective.
