Vad händer när jag trollar för en handfull dollar? : En konstnärlig djupdykning i att komponera popmusik utifrån analys av Ennio Morricones spaghettivästern

Det här är ett konstnärligt arbete om att skriva popmusik med utgångspunkt i Sergio Leones spaghettivästern. Jag har valt ut tre ledmotiv att analysera från filmerna För en handfull dollar, För några få dollar mer och Den gode, den onde, den fule, komponerade av Ennio Morricone, för att sedan tillämpa de mest karakteristiska inslagen från harmoniken, melodispråket och arrangemangen i egenskriven popmusik. Analyserna av varje films utvalda musikstycke fokuserar på instrumentering och arrangemang, melodik, harmonik, rytm och bas. För att få fördjupad förståelse för hur Ennio Morricones spaghettivästernmusik är uppbyggd komponerade jag först ett ledmotiv med utgångspunkt i analyserna för att sedan tillämpa innehållet i analyserna för popmusik. Med denna erfarenhet kopplad till analyserna, fortsatte jag sedan att skriva två poplåtar. Resultatet av arbetet och låtarna blev speciell och det var en utmaning att komponera popmusik baserad på spaghettivästern-element i kompositionerna. Stundvis fastnade jag då jag ibland lät spagghetivästern ta för mycket plats i kompositionerna medan visste stunder gick jag loss för mycket.

Aspects related to communication, unnecessary movement of professionals, patients, materials and information, useless protocols although well written are increasingly observed in health services. For improvements related to handling flow and continuous elimination of waste and activities that do not add value in the hospital, this study aimed to assess the implementation of spaghetti diagram tool in an emergency room of a small hospital in the state of São Paulo. The healthcare lean methodology and spaghetti diagram tool was used. It was identified the current situation and opportunities for improvement, relating to proposition good spaghetti diagram practices in hospitals. The main movement of wastes were mentioned and it was noted that the application of the tool was successful. The importance of the method for reducing the waste stream related to movement flow in a hospital environment has been proved. It is expected that the flow of tasks become efficient, always seeking less time to perform activities using less effort, less cost and reducing the waiting time of the patients in the unit by reorganizing the movement flow in the workplace. / A cada dia percebem-se constantes desperdícios e atividades que não agregam valor algum nos hospitais. Aspectos relacionados à comunicação, movimentação desnecessária de profissionais, pacientes, materiais e informações, protocolos inúteis, apesar de bem escritos, são cada vez mais observados nos serviços de saúde. Visando melhorias relacionadas ao fluxo de movimentação e a eliminação contínua de desperdícios e atividades que não acrescentam valor no ambiente hospitalar, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo a avaliação da aplicação da ferramenta diagrama de espaguete em uma unidade de emergência de um hospital de pequeno porte do interior do estado de São Paulo. Foi utilizada a metodologia lean healthcare e a ferramenta diagrama de espaguete. Identificou-se a situação atual e as oportunidades de melhorias, relacionando-se a proposição de boas práticas de diagrama de espaguete em ambiente hospitalar. Foram apontados os principais desperdícios de movimentação encontrados e percebeu-se que a aplicação da ferramenta pôde ser realizada com êxito. Comprovou-se a importância do método para a redução dos desperdícios relacionados ao fluxo de movimentação em ambiente hospitalar. Espera-se que o fluxo de tarefas torne-se eficiente, buscando sempre menor tempo para realização das atividades, utilizando menos esforços, com menor custo e diminuindo o tempo de espera do paciente na unidade por meio da reorganização dos fluxos de movimentação do ambiente de trabalho.

Ny verkstadslayout på Westal AB / New workshop layout at Westal AB

The following study is a bachelor thesis at Jönköping Institute of Technology in collaboration with the lighting company Westal AB. The company had recently invested in a laser cutter and at the same time acquired the business Ledolight Sweden AB, which manufactures emergency exit luminaires. The problem that formed the basis of the study was that the responsible parties were unsure of how the machines should be positioned regarding proximity and a good working environment. The aimwas therefore to develop two concrete layout proposals for the workshop. Where one layout proposal should provide suggestions for the location of the laser cutter in relation to existing machines. While the layout proposal will provide a proposal on how the machines from Ledolight Sweden AB can be placed on a separate area in the workshop.The study's questions were answered using both quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain information. Value stream analyses, measurements, observations, and interviews are some of the methods used. Based on the chosen methods, it has been possible to describe a current situation at Westal AB and Ledolight Sweden AB. When designing the layout proposals, the collected information was compared to the selected theoretical framework. Subsequently, the "Simplified Systematic Layout Planning" (FSLP) method was used to identify and determine relationships, causes of proximity, space requirements and other needs.The study results in different layout proposals, which show how the machines and functions can be placed in the workshop. A total of three layout proposals have been produced for the laser cutter and two for the machines from Ledolight Sweden AB. Followed by the advantages and disadvantages of the chosen locations. In comparison with the current layout, the new layout proposals have achieved the purpose of creating proximity, creating good working conditions, and placing the machines from Ledolight Sweden AB in a separate area in the workshop. The study also provides a concrete proposal on how two of the layout proposals could be integrated into the workshop. The layout proposal contributes to less material handling as the times for moving materials have been reduced. Material handling has been reduced by 20% for the Stall product group. Regarding the product groups Gustav and LedoNomic material handling has been reduced by 13% and 47% respectively. In connection with the results of the study, the following recommendations have been identified,- Design spaghetti diagrams and eliminate unnecessary movements for all product groups processed in the workshop. - Apply the FSLP method to future layout changes.- Continued work with the Lean mindset and the tool 5S to eliminate waste. / Följande studie är ett examensarbete på Jönköpings tekniska högskola som utförts i samarbete med belysningsföretaget Westal AB. Företaget hade nyligen investerat i en laserskärare och samtidigt köpt upp verksamheten Ledolight Sweden AB som tillverkar nödutgångsarmaturer. Problemet som låg till grund för studien var att det inte fanns någon tydlig bild över hur maskinerna ska placeras med avseende på att skapa närhet och en god arbetsmiljö. Syftet var därmed att ta fram två konkreta layoutförslag över verkstaden. Där ena layoutförslaget ska ge förslag på placeringen av laserskäraren i förhållande till befintliga maskiner. Det andra layoutförslaget skall ge ett förslag på hur maskinerna från Ledolight Sweden AB kan placeras på en separat yta i verkstaden.Studiens frågeställningar har besvarats genom användandet av både kvantitativa och kvalitativa metoder för att inhämta information. Värdeflödesanalyser, mätningar och intervjuer är några av de metoderna som använts. Vid utformandet av layoutförslagen ställdes den inhämtade informationen i relation till det utvalda teoretiska ramverket.Därefter användes metoden ”Förenklad systematisk lokalplanläggning” (FSLP) för att ta fram olika de olika layoutförslagen.Studien resulterar i olika layoutförslag, vilket visar hur maskinerna respektive funktionerna kan placeras i verkstaden. Totalt har tre layoutförslag för laserskäraren tagits fram och två för maskinerna från Ledolight Sweden AB. Följt av fördelar respektive nackdelar med de valda placeringarna. I jämförelse med den nuvarande layouten, har de nya layoutförslagen uppnått syftet med att skapa närhet, skapa goda arbetsförhållanden och placerat maskinerna från Ledolight Sweden AB på en separat yta i verkstaden. Studien ger även ett konkret förslag på hur två av layoutförslagen skulle kunna integreras i verkstaden. Layoutförslaget bidrar till mindre materialhantering då tiderna för förflyttning av material har reducerats. Materialhanteringen har reducerats med 20% för produktgruppen Stall. Gällande produktgrupperna Gustav och LedoNomic materialhantering har det reducerats med 13% respektive 47%. I samband med studiens resultat har följande rekommendationer identifierats.- Utforma spaghettidiagram och eliminera onödiga rörelser för alla produktgrupper som förädlas i verkstaden. - Tillämpa metoden FSLP vid framtida layoutförändringar.- Fortsatt arbete med tankesättet Lean och verktyget 5S för att eliminera slöseriet.

Flow Optimisation for Improved Performance of a Multivariant Manufacturing and Assembly Line

Stoneridge, Inc. is an independent designer and manufacturer of highly engineered electrical and electronic components, modules and systems principally for the automotive, commercial vehicle, motorcycle, agricultural and off-highway vehicle markets. A subsidiary of Stoneridge, Inc. is the company Stoneridge Electronics. They specialise in instrument clusters and tachographs which are manufactured in high quantityin their production plant in Örebro, Sweden. This master thesis focuses on the production line of an instrument cluster called Angela. In close collaboration with Stoneridge Electronics, the goal was to find ways to improve the output of the Angela line by at least 10% compared to the three best months in terms of output from the year before. The Angela line was analyzed thoroughly and from different perspectives using lean tools such as value stream mapping, spaghetti diagram and continuous improvement. Finally, the simulation software ExtendSim was used in order to simulate and analyse different suggestions. The results show that various steps can be taken to improve the efficiency and output of the manufacturing line by as much as 16.3%. Due to the fact that other production lines within the production are similar to the one that the project was carried out on, the project results could be applicable for the other lines as well. / Stoneridge, Inc. är en oberoende designer och tillverkare av högteknologiska elektriska och elektroniska komponenter, moduler och system huvudsakligen för fordonsmarknaderna. Ett dotterbolag till Stoneridge, Inc. är företaget Stoneridge Electronics. De är specialiserade på instrument kluster och färdskrivare som tillverkas i produktionsanläggning i Örebro. Denna examensarbete fokuserar på produktionslinje av ett instrumentkluster som heter Angela. I nära samarbete med Stoneridge Electronics,målet var att hitta sätt att förbättra produktionen av Angela linje med minst 10 % jämförtmed de tre bästa månaderna när det gäller produktion från året innan. Angela-linjen analyserades grundligt och från olika perspektiv med lean verktyg som värdeflödesanalys, spaghetti diagram och kontinuerlig förbättring. Slutligen användes simuleringsprogrammet ExtendSim för att simulera och analysera olika förslag. Resultaten visar att olika steg kan vidtas för att förbättra effektiviteten och produktionen av produktionslinjen med så mycket som 16.3%. På grund av att andra produktionslinjer inom produktionen liknar den som projektet genomfördes på, kan projektresultaten vara tillämpliga för andra linjer också.

<p>Сензорска анализа представља јединствено средство за праћење органолептичких својстава хране уз примјену људских чула, јер је најближа потрошачкој оцјени и уједно веома поуздан тест у пружању свеобухвтане оцјене квалитета прехрамбеног производа. Она представља најважнију референцу наспрам резултата добијених хемијским или инструменталним методима и њиховим поређењем омогућује прихватање, одабир или побољшање било којег другог метода.<br />Имајући у виду сву комплексност текстурних својстава тјестенине, као и важност објективизације појединих њених сегмената у циљу задовољења тржишта, праћења производње и задовољења важећих одредби правилника и прописа, у овом раду спроведена је објективна сензорска оцјена одабраних текстурних својстава тјестенине, као и њихова оцјена примјеном инструменталних метода.<br />Испитивања су спроведена на комерцијалним узорцима сушене тјестенине облика шпагете, поријеклом од домаћих и страних произвођача, најчешће присутних у већим тржним центрима наше земље. Поред анализе хемијског састава и својстава при кувању, на формираном сету узорака шпагета спроведена су испитивања одабраних текстурних својстава сушених и куваних облика примјеном сензорске оцјене и инструменталних одређивања.<br />Упркос добрим слагањима резултата добијених инструменталних одређивањим и сензорском оцјеном од стране панела одабраних оцјењивача, дошло се до закључка да поједини инструментални методи могу наћи добру примјену у предикцији објективне сензорске оцјене појединих текстурних својстава и тиме допринијети побољшању квалитета тјестенине облика шпагета током технолошког процеса производње, али да не могу безрезервно бити прихваћени као алтернатива објективној сензорској оцјени у предикцији потрошачке прихватљивости овог прехрамбеног производа на тржишту.</p> / <p>Senzorska analiza predstavlja jedinstveno sredstvo za praćenje organoleptičkih svojstava hrane uz primjenu ljudskih čula, jer je najbliža potrošačkoj ocjeni i ujedno veoma pouzdan test u pružanju sveobuhvtane ocjene kvaliteta prehrambenog proizvoda. Ona predstavlja najvažniju referencu naspram rezultata dobijenih hemijskim ili instrumentalnim metodima i njihovim poređenjem omogućuje prihvatanje, odabir ili poboljšanje bilo kojeg drugog metoda.<br />Imajući u vidu svu kompleksnost teksturnih svojstava tjestenine, kao i važnost objektivizacije pojedinih njenih segmenata u cilju zadovoljenja tržišta, praćenja proizvodnje i zadovoljenja važećih odredbi pravilnika i propisa, u ovom radu sprovedena je objektivna senzorska ocjena odabranih teksturnih svojstava tjestenine, kao i njihova ocjena primjenom instrumentalnih metoda.<br />Ispitivanja su sprovedena na komercijalnim uzorcima sušene tjestenine oblika špagete, porijeklom od domaćih i stranih proizvođača, najčešće prisutnih u većim tržnim centrima naše zemlje. Pored analize hemijskog sastava i svojstava pri kuvanju, na formiranom setu uzoraka špageta sprovedena su ispitivanja odabranih teksturnih svojstava sušenih i kuvanih oblika primjenom senzorske ocjene i instrumentalnih određivanja.<br />Uprkos dobrim slaganjima rezultata dobijenih instrumentalnih određivanjim i senzorskom ocjenom od strane panela odabranih ocjenjivača, došlo se do zaključka da pojedini instrumentalni metodi mogu naći dobru primjenu u predikciji objektivne senzorske ocjene pojedinih teksturnih svojstava i time doprinijeti poboljšanju kvaliteta tjestenine oblika špageta tokom tehnološkog procesa proizvodnje, ali da ne mogu bezrezervno biti prihvaćeni kao alternativa objektivnoj senzorskoj ocjeni u predikciji potrošačke prihvatljivosti ovog prehrambenog proizvoda na tržištu.</p> / <p>Sensory analysis represents the unique tool for determination of organoleptic properties of food using human senses, because it is highly correlated with the consumers&rsquo; opinion. At the same time it is very reliable test for obtaining the comprehensive evaluation of foodstuffs quality. Moreover, the sensory analysis is the most important reference versus the results of chemical or instrumental methods, and their comparison enables adoption of any other method used for determination of sensory properties. Bearing in mind the complexity of the textural properties of pasta and the significance of objectivity of its methodology, this thesis conducted the objective evaluation of selected sensory textural properties of pasta and their evaluation by the instrumental methods as well. Nine commercial spaghetti samples produced by foreign and domestic producers were chosen for the study. The selected textural properties of dry and cooked spaghetti determined by sensory and instrumental methods comprised shape. The obtain results showed that applied instrumental methods provided reliable prediction of the objective sensory evaluation of certain spaghetti textural properties. Thus, their use may contribute to the improvement of spaghetti quality during production process. Despite the good agreement between the results obtained by instrumental and sensory methods, the instrumental methods could not be unconditionally accepted as the alternative to sensory evaluation in predicting consumers&rsquo; acceptance of spaghetti on the market.</p>

Elektrisch unterstützte Metallschmelzefiltration mittels poröser Keramikerzeugnisse

Die Herstellung keramischer Filter für den Einsatz in der Eisen- und Stahlschmelzfiltration ist mittels viskoplastischer Formgebung möglich. Es wurden keine Trägermaterialien verwendet und weitestgehend wurde ohne Zusatz organischer Additive gearbeitet. Wesentliche Ziele der Anwendung dieser Technologie waren dabei eine Festigkeitssteigerung gegenüber herkömmlichen Schaumkeramikfiltern, da keine Hohlstege, sondern Vollstrukturen erzeugt werden und die Kostenreduzierung der Gesamtbilanz, da der Brennprozess günstiger wird (es werden keine Filteranlagen mehr benötigt) und Kosten für Schäume entfallen. Eine entsprechende Struktur kann mit der Kolbenpresse in Form von ungeordneten Strängen erzeugt werden - die so genannten Spaghettifilter. Die Auswertung der Gussstücke aus Gießversuchen mit Eisenschmelze wurde mittels 3D-CT Röntgentomographie durchgeführt. Der Filtrationswirkungsgrad der Schaumfilter ist nach dieser Methode höher als der der Spaghettifilter. Die 3D CT Röntgentomographie kommt eventuell als eine einfache und zerstörungsfreie Methode zur Beurteilung der Filtrationswirkung in Frage. Das Anlegen einer Spannung im System Filter / Schmelze zeigt nach ersten Versuchen chancenreiche Ergebnisse. Durch den Polarisationseffekt kann eine Erhöhung der Abscheideeffizienz bei Schaumkeramikfiltern erreicht werden kann. Die Spaghettifilter zeigen keine Erhöhung durch spannungsunterstützte Filtration.

An empirical study of the impact of two antipatterns on program comprehension

Les antipatrons sont de “mauvaises” solutions à des problèmes récurrents de conception logicielle. Leur apparition est soit due à de mauvais choix lors de la phase de conception soit à des altérations et des changements continus durant l’implantation des programmes. Dans la littérature, il est généralement admis que les antipatrons rendent la compréhension des programmes plus difficile. Cependant, peu d’études empiriques ont été menées pour vérifier l’impact des antipatrons sur la compréhension. Dans le cadre de ce travail de maîtrise, nous avons conçu et mené trois expériences, avec 24 sujets chacune, dans le but de recueillir des données sur la performance des sujets lors de tâches de compréhension et d’évaluer l’impact de l’existence de deux antipatrons, Blob et Spaghetti Code, et de leurs combinaisons sur la compréhension des programmes. Nous avons mesuré les performances des sujets en terme : (1) du TLX (NASA task load index) pour l’éffort ; (2) du temps consacré à l’exécution des tâches ; et, (3) de leurs pourcentages de réponses correctes. Les données recueillies montrent que la présence d’un antipatron ne diminue pas sensiblement la performance des sujets alors que la combinaison de deux antipatrons les entrave de façon significative. Nous concluons que les développeurs peuvent faire face à un seul antipatron, alors que la combinaison de plusieurs antipatrons devrait être évitée, éventuellement par le biais de détection et de réusinage. / Antipatterns are “poor” solutions to recurring design problems which are conjectured in the literature to make object-oriented systems harder to maintain. However, little quantitative evidence exists to support this conjecture. We performed an empirical study to investigate whether the occurrence of antipatterns does indeed affect the understandability of systems by developers during comprehension and maintenance tasks. We designed and conducted three experiments, each with 24 subjects, to collect data on the performance of these subjects on basic tasks related to program comprehension and assess the impact of two antipatterns and their combinations: Blob and Spaghetti Code. We measured the subjects’ performance with: (1) TLX (NASA task load index) for their effort; (2) the time that they spent performing their tasks; and, (3) their percentages of correct answers. The collected data shows that the occurrence of one antipattern does not significantly decrease developers’ performance while the combination of two antipatterns impedes developers significantly. We conclude that developers can cope with one antipattern but that combinations thereof should be avoided possibly through detection and refactorings.
