Title: Risky eating behaviour in synchronised swimming. Objectives: The objective of this diploma thesis is to find out what is the prevalence of risky eating behaviour in synchronised swimming by means of the EAT - 26 and ORTO - 15 questionnaires. Methods: The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with theoretical knowledge about synchronised swimming, diagnostic criteria of eating disorders and disturbed eating behaviour as well as eating disorders in water sports. The research group consists of 133 respondents, who are further divided into two primary groups, namely the group of synchronised swimmers, which includes 72 respondents, and the control group, which includes 61 respondents. The control group is further divided into two subgroups, depending on whether the respondent is registered in a sports club or not. Standardized questionnaires EAT - 26 and ORTO - 15 were used for the research. The questionnaires were completely anonymous and in an electronic form. The results were evaluated quantitatively and processed in the form of graphs in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet editor. Results: The prevalence of risky eating behaviour when using the EAT - 26 questionnaire is lower in the group of synchronised swimmers (8.31 %) compared to the control group (24.58 %). Speech-driven animation using multi-modal hidden Markov modelsHofer, Gregor Otto January 2010 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis was the synthesis of speech synchronised motion, in particular head motion. The hypothesis that head motion can be estimated from the speech signal was confirmed. In order to achieve satisfactory results, a motion capture data base was recorded, a definition of head motion in terms of articulation was discovered, a continuous stream mapping procedure was developed, and finally the synthesis was evaluated. Based on previous research into non-verbal behaviour basic types of head motion were invented that could function as modelling units. The stream mapping method investigated in this thesis is based on Hidden Markov Models (HMMs), which employ modelling units to map between continuous signals. The objective evaluation of the modelling parameters confirmed that head motion types could be predicted from the speech signal with an accuracy above chance, close to 70%. Furthermore, a special type ofHMMcalled trajectoryHMMwas used because it enables synthesis of continuous output. However head motion is a stochastic process therefore the trajectory HMM was further extended to allow for non-deterministic output. Finally the resulting head motion synthesis was perceptually evaluated. The effects of the “uncanny valley” were also considered in the evaluation, confirming that rendering quality has an influence on our judgement of movement of virtual characters. In conclusion a general method for synthesising speech-synchronised behaviour was invented that can applied to a whole range of behaviours.

Previous issue date: 2016-09-30 / O presente trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar uma metodologia para a detecção de perdas comerciais de energia em sistemas de distribuição, bem como a identificação do usuário fraudulento em Infraestruturas Avançadas de Medição, próprias de Smart Grids. ParaaetapadedetecçãodeperdascomerciaisdeenergiaéutilizadoumEstimadorEstático de Estados Trifásico baseado em Medições Fasoriais Sincronizadas (Phasor Measurements Units - PMUs). Essa etapa visa detectar os transformadores na rede de distribuição, os quais, apresentam indícios de furtos/fraudes de energia, através da observância da curva de carga estimada. A próxima etapa visa identificar os consumidores, conectados aos transformadores suspeitos, que cometem o ato ilícito. Para isto, treinou-se uma Rede Neural Artificial (RNA) de Kohonen para clusterizar os consumidores honestos de acordo compadrõesdeconsumosemelhantes,apartirdedadosdeconsumoprovenientesdosSmart Meters decadacliente. ParacadaclassedefinidapelaRNAdeKohonencriou-seumaRNA MultiLayer Perceptron (MLP) para fins de classificação dos consumidores em duas classes, honestos ou fraudulentos. As duas grandes contribuições do trabalho estão em utilizar a técnica de detecção para diminuir o número de Falsos Positivos (FP) das metodologias de classificação, sem a necessidade de medições individuais nos transformadores, e a utilização de RNAs a partir de dados de medições do sistema de distribuição de forma robusta, em que não há a necessidade de medições sem perdas comerciais de energia para todos os consumidores do sistema. A forma de tratamento dos dados de medições ainda possibilita manter a privacidade dos usuários, questão bastante debatida no cenário mundial. Foram realizados testes para a etapa de detecção de perdas comerciais com os sistemas IEEE 33 Barras e IEEE 70 barras. Para a etapa de identificação do consumidor fraudulento foram utilizados dados de consumo reais de mais de 5000 consumidores provenientes de Smart Meters liberados pela Autoridade de Eletricidade e Energia Sustentável da Irlanda. Os testes mostraram bons resultados tornando a metodologia proposta aplicável na detecção e identificação de perdas comerciais de energia elétrica em Smart Grids. / This work aims to present a methodology for the detection of energy theft in distribution systems as well as the identification of the fraudulent users considering Advanced Metering Infrastructure, widely used in Smart Grids. For the stage of energy theft detection, a Static Three Phase State Estimator based on Synchronised Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) is used. This step aims to detect the transformers in the distribution network, which have evidence of energy theft, by observing the estimated load curve. The next step is to identify consumers, connected to suspected transformers, which are stealing energy. For this, a Kohonen Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was trained to clustering honest consumers according to similar patterns of consumption, with the consumption data from the Smart Meters at every customer. For each class defined by the Kohonen ANN a MultiLayer Perceptron (MLP) ANN for classification of consumers into two classes, honest or fraudulent was created. The two major contributions of this work are the use of energy theft detection technique to reduce the number of false positives (FP) from the classification methods, without the need for individual measurements on the transformers, andtheuseofANNfromdistributionsystemmeasurementsmakethetechiniquerobust, in which there is no need for measurements without comercial loss of energy for all consumers. The way that the measurement data is treated allows maintaining the privacy of the consumers which is a debated question on the world. Tests were conducted for energy theft detection step with IEEE 33 Buses and IEEE 70 Buses systems. For the fraudulent user identification step, actual consumption data were used over 5000 consumers from their SmartMetersreleasedbytheElectricityAuthorityandSustainableEnergyofIreland. The tests showed good results making the proposed methodology applicable in the detection and identification of energy theft in Smart Grids.

Synchronised metronome training : The effects on soccer players’ lower-limb motor dynamics and performance in a soccer-related stepping task.McDonald, Rachel January 2015 (has links)
Good timing is important for all daily motion, even more so for athletes where the smallest movements can make the difference between a goal and miss. Despite this, there has been little research into just how timing ability is related to sport performance. Therefore the present study used a between-within groups experimental design with a sample of female elite- and semi-elite soccer players to describe the effects of a synchronised metronome training (SMT) intervention on lower-limb movement, and accuracy and speed, in a soccer-related stepping task. Participants were randomly assigned to receive SMT (n = 12) or to the control group (n = 12). The SMT group received 12 hours of Interactive Metronome (IM) training over four weeks. Pre- and post-test results showed a strong effect of SMT in improving timing and rhythmic ability. An effect of SMT on accuracy in the stepping task was seen, signifying an effect on motor planning ability. Correlational analyses showed some evident effects of IM on the kinematic parameters, as indicated by relationship between timing and rhythmicity ability with increased movement segmentation, though this did not reach significance. These results present new information and provides support for kinematic analysis to be used in future studies to address the effect of SMT. / God timing är viktig för alla dagliga rörelser, och än mer viktigt är det för idrottare där minsta lilla rörelse kan innebära skillnaden mellan mål och miss. Trots detta finns lite forskning om hur förmåga till timing kan förbättra sportsliga prestationer. Huvudsyftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur synkroniserad metronomträning (SMT) påverkade prestationen och rörelsedynamik i en fotbollsrelaterad uppgift. I studien deltog 24 aktiva fotbollsspelare från Damallsvenskan och Division 1, varav 12 fick träna med SMT under fyra veckor. Resultatet visade att SMT påverkade exaktheten i utförandet av den fotbollsrelaterade uppgiften, vilket indikera en effekt på motorplaneringsförmåga. Denna studie jämför för första gången 3D-kinematikdata från före- och efter träning med SMT samt med en kontrollgrupp, 3D-kinematikanalysen av rörelsesegmentering och kumulativ 3D-distans visade inga övertygande relationer mellan SMT och rörelsedynamiken efter IM-träning. Däremot visade korrelationen stöd för en relation mellan rörelsesegmentering och timingförmåga. Därför stödjer denna studie tidigare forskning kring timing och motorisk prestation, och det finns tillräckligt med bevis för att motivera vidare analyser av kinematiska parametrar för att studera effekten av SMT och rörelsedynamik.

Synchronised Pulsewidth Modulation Strategies Based On Space Vector Approach For Induction Motor DrivesNarayanan, G 08 1900 (has links)
In high power induction motor drives, the switching frequency of the inverter is quite low due to the high losses in the power devices. Real-time PWM strategies, which result in reduced harmonic distortion under low switching frequencies and have maximum possible DC bus utilisation, are developed for such drives in the present work.
The space vector approach is taken up for the generation of synchronised PWM waveforms with 3-Phase Symmetry, Half Wave Symmetry and Quarter Wave Symmetry, required for high-power drives. Rules for synchronisation and the waveform symmetries are brought out. These rules are applied to the conventional and modified forms of space vector modulation, leading to the synchronised conventional space vector strategy and the Basic Bus Clamping Strategy-I, respectively. Further, four new synchronised, bus-clamping PWM strategies, namely Asymmetric Zero-Changing Strategy, Boundary Sampling Strategy-I, Basic Bus Clamping Strategy-II and Boundary Sampling Strategy-II, are proposed. These strategies exploit the flexibilities offered by the space vector approach like double-switching of a phase within a subcycle, clamping of two phases within a subcycle etc. It is shown that the PWM waveforms generated by these strategies cannot be generated by comparing suitable 3-phase modulating waves with a triangular carrier wave.
A modified two-zone approach to overmodulation is proposed. This is applied to the six synchronised PWM strategies, dealt with in the present work, to extend the operation of these strategies upto the six-step mode. Linearity is ensured between the magnitude of the reference and the fundamental voltage generated in the whole range of modulation upto the six-step mode. This is verified experimentally.
A suitable combination of these strategies leads to a significant reduction in the harmonic distortion of the drive at medium and high speed ranges over the conventional space vector strategy. This reduction in harmonic distortion is demonstrated, theoretically as well as experimentally, on a constant V/F drive of base frequency 50Hz for three values of maximum switching frequency of the inverter, namely 450Hz, 350Hz and 250Hz.
Based on the notion of stator flux ripple, analytical closed-form expressions are derived for the harmonic distortion due to the different PWM strategies. The values of harmonic distortion, computed based on these analytical expressions, compare well with those calculated based on Fourier analysis and those measured experimentally.
