Laporte, Luc 08 1900 (has links)
The theoretical framework of this study is Nord’s "skopos plus loyalty" approach ([1997] 2007 : 123). It exemplifies its heuristic and didactic potential when applied to philological translations, following Nord’s saying that "Comparing translations of various texts in various situations at various moments in history we find that different purposes can very often explain why translators have chosen different techniques or procedures to solve similar or analogous problems." (ibid. : 115 116) Three translations were selected for their functionality; their translation brief (Nord ibid. : 30) has been inferred, and the deliberate (Bastin 2007) translation shifts (Chesterman 1997; Gagnon 2006) which contributed to their functionality were identified. The "distribution" of the "translator’s threefold loyalty" has been evaluated, and those shifts which proved to be "unfortunate" were explained in terms of Ke's cultural presuppositions and misreadings (1999).

Motiv chrysantémy v songských písních ci / The motif of chrysanthemum in Song ci

Zábranská, Lenka January 2013 (has links)
The thesis traces emergence of chrysanthemum, a favourite symbol in Chinese poetry, and discusses its various uses within the context of the Song ci poets. The chapters of the thesis focus on precising connotations and their transformations related to the chrysanthemum as one of the most frequently appearing flower motifs in Chinese literature and specification of the literary-historical description of the Song ci and yongwu evolution process. The thesis also aims to present connotations reflecting the evolution of Song lyrics from non-serious tunes to the official poetry, shift in using the motif in shi and ci poems and the presence of Tao Yuanming's and Qu Yuan's chrysanthemum motif in Song ci. It describes the extent in which the genre of Song ci modifies the meaning of motif; how much of the traditional meaning referring to Qu Yuan and Tao Yuanming is preserved and how does the ci genre influence traditional meaning and the general cultural cognizance attached to the motif. Attention is also paid to the process in which the meaning empties itself and becomes an ornamental motif indicating occasion and season of the year and evoking certain mood. Key words: chrysanthemum, Tao Yuanming 陶淵明, Song dynasty, ci 詞 poem, yongwu 詠物, flower motif

A heuristic and HSSI exploration of experiencing interplay between spiritual guidance and synchronicity within person-centred encounters

Gorsedene, Christa January 2018 (has links)
This research has been a study in amazement. Initially an agnostic physics graduate, the researcher undertook training in the person-centred approach (pca) to self-development and counselling, during which she came to experience strange personal experiences which she could neither gainsay nor fit into her then worldview. Sketching these briefly, exceptional human experiences (EHEs) and synchronicities increasingly happened until (shockingly) they declared a seeming spirit guide (Mungo) to her, also juxtaposed in time with her first-ever chance encounter with dowsing. Thereafter these phenomena, combined with randomisable image-cards, tutored her into a physically observable method of 'discussion' with them (alone or with another) conducted with pca values. This PhD involved researching that phenomenon-complex through 'discussions' with 35 participants. The methodology used was heuristics and its heuristic self-search inquiry specialism (HSSI) whose attention to personal experiencing, indwelling to contact tacit knowledge, and incubatory rest phases to foster illuminatory new 'ahaa!' apprehensions suited this nascent mysterious subject. Both participants and researcher experienced coincidences weaving the 'discussions' and their wider lives together. Thus synchronicity became equal-partner research-topic, being studied as it occurred and, through affecting certain choices, becoming part of the methodology itself. The phenomenon-complex was experienced as fostering ethical living, creativity, personal development and science-spirituality interconnection in ways wellpitched and paced for each experiencer. The phenomena were also experienced as synergizing with each other, and as fostering integration within and between persons. After work on the participant sessions was completed, the writings of further thesis chapters were 'butted into' by in-the-moment relevant synchronicities, not just singly but in flows and patterns in which the researcher found herself discerning overarching meanings. Given this exceptional opportunity the researcher (in effect doing a bonus research-section) tracked her experiencing of these synchronistic flows and her responses thereto wherever they led, using Sela-Smith's first-person heuristic self-search inquiry (HSSI) methodology. Each synchronistically-influenced chapter was experienced as exploring certain themes, with themes building as the thesis progressed. Heuristics and HSSI are usually transformative. This researcher was transformed from the ground up from agnosticism to credence in 'something more' through her experiencings (both alone and inter-relationally with participants). Their 'package deal' presented personal shadow-work alongside help in life difficulties, and great fascination but darker times too. In total she came to feel part of an interconnected, spiritually-intelligent and compassionate cosmic domain, and existentially happier.

Taoismen och den analytiska psykologin

Vesterlund, Per January 2008 (has links)

The purpose of this paper is to study the connection between Taoism and analytical psychology. This is done by descriptive text analysis of post-jungian literature. Often mentioned when searching for the inspirations and influences on analytical psychology we find references to alchemy, Buddhism, Gnosticism, Hinduism and the hermetic tradition. More seldom do we meet any references to Taoism. My aim is to investigate what gravity do the post-jungians attach to the taoism influence on C.G. Jung´s analytical psychology. This paper will also argue that Taoism is an underestimated influence in the development of the analytical psychology.

Keywords: Analytical psychology, Jungian psychology, Taoism, Tao, Richard Wilhelm, synchronicity, C.G. Traductologie et traduction outillée : du traducteur spécialisé professionnel à l’expert métier en entreprise / Translation Technologies for English, French or German : From Individual Specialized Translators To Company Domain Experts

Lemaire, Claire 23 June 2017 (has links)
How to adapt translation technologies, initially designed for professional translators, to domain experts who have to translate for their company? We address this issue by first comparing the practices of two groups of translators, professional and non-professional, with two surveys. Secondly, we built a corpus of translations done by domain experts and we studied it to reinforce the analysis. The most obvious difference are the use of machine translation (MT) and the production context. Actually, the reality in companies shows texts, in source language that often cannot be processed by machines; we propose to focus on text processability. By looking at current MT technologies, it appears that they can either post-edit the texts that are in target language, after the translation process or pre-edit the texts that are in source language, before the translation process. We propose to take advantage of the unprecedented situation of having the "writer" and the "translator" working together, to use the writer expertise during the translation process by creating a new MT feature that allow editing during the process.

In this paper, it is proposed the synthesis of a new reagent derivative of thiazole, 5-bromothiazolylazo-2-orcinol (Br-TAO) and its application in systems for preconcentration of metals. The reagent was synthesized by diazotization and coupling reactions. Then the solid product was purified by recrystallization with ethanol and characterized. The reagent Br-TAO was employed in a preconcentration procedure for cobalt using microdispersive liquid-liquid extraction and determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The enrichment factor and the limit of detection were 16 and 0.9 µg L-1, respectively. The accuracy was tested by analysis of certified reference material NIST 1570a, Spinach Leaves. The procedure was applied to the determination of cobalt in water from Rio de Contas, located in Jequié-BA. Another procedure employed the reagent Br-TAO in an on-line system with sequential injection and cloud point extraction for preconcentration and determination of manganese by FAAS. The procedure is based on the cloud point extraction of manganese in the sequential injection system and retention in a minicolumn, with subsequent elution and detection. Chemical and flow variables that affect the system were optimized and some specific analytical and some analytical parameters were determined, such as analytical frequency (48 h-1), enrichment factor (14), rate of consumption (0.20 mL) and the limit of detection (0.5 µg L-1). The certified reference materials NIST 1568a, Rice Flour and NIST 1573a, tomato leaves were used to test the accuracy of the procedure. The method was applied to the determination of manganese in rice flour, milk and corn. This work is part of a PRONEX project, funded by CNPq / FAPESB entitled "Center for Research in Analytical Chemistry of Bahia: Chemistry and quality food."
