In this context, the use of tools or processes that make the activities of generation of more agile testing, less costly and meet demands for precision are key to companies operating in software development market can achieve their goals. Based on these information comes to questions regarding how to go about adopting a process that makes possible the achievement of objectives in order to meet the results mentioned previously, even with the difficulties of generating test data as a result of of programs input areas are infinite. There are different tools that use various strategies for generating test data, however, lacks evidence as the quality of these tools. In this context, the aim of this work is conducting an experimental evaluation of some automatic test data generators to identify which one offers the best cost / benefit in terms of effective in detecting defects number of generated test data, code coverage demanded by test data, and generation time of testing. At second step a third tool was included along manually generated tests. New test sets using three automatic generators and included the manually -generated sets project were generated. Finally, results were presented in terms of effectiveness and efficiency through the comparison between the four test sets . / Considerando o alto custo e a grande quantidade de tempo demandada pela atividade de criação de casos de testes dentro do processo de desenvolvimento de software. A utilização de ferramentas ou procedimentos que tornem o processo de geração de dados de testes mais ágil, menos oneroso e que atendam demandas por precisão se tornam fundamentais para que as empresas atuantes no mercado de desenvolvimento de software possam atingir seus objetivos. Com base nessas informações, surge a dúvida relacionada a como proceder para adotar um processo de desenvolvimento e teste de software que tornem possíveis o alcance dos objetivos de forma a atender os resultados mencionados anteriormente, mesmo com as dificuldades de gerar dados de teste em decorrência dos domínios de entrada dos programas serem em geral infinitos. O objetivo do presente trabalho é conduzir uma avaliação experimental de geradores automáticos de dados de teste visando identificar qual deles apresenta a melhor relação custo/benefício em termos de eficácia em detectar defeitos, número de dados de teste gerados e cobertura de código determinada pelos conjuntos de teste. A pesquisa foi dirigida em duas etapas: na primeira, dois geradores foram avaliados em relação a um conjunto de 32 programas Java e os resultados obtidos indicam que, de maneira geral, o gerador CodePro foi o que apresentou a melhor relação custo benefício frente ao Randoop; na segunda, foi inclusa uma terceira ferramenta, juntamente a testes gerados de forma manual. Foram gerados novos conjuntos de teste utilizando os três geradores automáticos e incluso ao projeto conjuntos gerados de forma manual. Ao final, foram apresentados os resultados em termos de eficácia e eficiência por meio dos comparativos entre os quatro conjuntos de teste.

Η διατριβή εισάγει μια νέα ανοιχτή αρχιτεκτονική για επικοινωνία ιατρικών απεικονιστικών εξετάσεων, η οποία παρουσιάζεται μέσω ενός νέου PACS-ιστού που εστιάζει στην τηλεακτινολογία. Η προτεινόμενη αρχιτεκτονική είναι βασισμένη στις αρχές της επέκτασης ιστού του DICOM που είναι η υπηρεσία/πρωτόκολλο WADO (Πρόσβαση μέσω Ιστού σε Επίμονα Στοιχεία Εξέτασης DICOM). Η αρχιτεκτονική ενσωματώνει υπηρεσίες DICOM και κοινές υπηρεσίες Διαδικτύου (βασισμένες στον ιστό, στο FTP, και στο ηλεκτρονικό ταχυδρομείο). Η διατριβή επίσης επεκτείνει την δυνατότητα πρόσβασης της WADO σε ολόκληρη την ιεραρχία DICOM (Ασθενής, Διαγνωστική Εξέταση, Σειρά Εξέτασης και Στοιχείο Εξέτασης). Η επέκταση της WADO καλείται WADA (Πρόσβαση μέσω Ιστού σε Συστήματα Αρχειοθέτησης DICOM). Σε αντιδιαστολή με τη WADO, η WADA περιλαμβάνει ένα πρόσθετο εσωτερικό μηχανισμό αναζήτησης και υποστηρίζει την υποβολή ιατρικής διάγνωσης. Το σύνολο των προτεινόμενων υπηρεσιών υποστηρίζει την εκτεταμένη πρόσβαση και είναι ενσωματωμένο σε μια δομή τριών επιπέδων (πελάτη, εξυπηρετητή και δεδομένων) που εξασφαλίζει ευελιξία πρόσβασης, κινητικότητα χρηστών και ενισχυμένη ασφάλεια δεδομένων. Η πλευρά των εξυπηρετητών της αρχιτεκτονικής παρέχει διεπαφές των υπηρεσιών μέσω ιστού και διασφαλισμένο χώρο προσωρινής αποθήκευσης που καλείται Περιοχές Χρηστών. Η παρούσα διατριβή μελετά επίσης υποδομή υπολογιστικού πλέγματος για την αρχιτεκτονική του PACS-ιστού και ένα συνεργατικό σχήμα μεταξύ PACS και RIS για ολοκληρωμένη διαχείριση απεικονιστικών εξετάσεων μέσω ιστού. Η προτεινόμενη αρχιτεκτονική υλοποιήθηκε πιλοτικά κυρίως με τεχνολογίες βασισμένες σε Java και προϊόντα συμβατά με πρότυπα. Η υλοποιημένη αρχιτεκτονική αξιολογήθηκε από μηχανικούς σε συνεργασία με ιατρούς. / The dissertation introduces a new open architecture for medical imaging communication illustrating a novel web Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), which focuses on teleradiology. The proposed architecture is based on the concept of the web extension of Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) that is the Web Access to DICOM Persistent Objects (WADO) protocol/service. The architecture integrates DICOM services and common Internet services (based on web, FTP, and e-mail). The dissertation also extends WADO access capability to the whole DICOM hierarchy (Patient, Study, Series and Object). The extended WADO is called Web Access to DICOM Archives (WADA). WADA, as opposed to WADO, includes an extra internal query mechanism and support of medical reports submission. The whole of the proposed services support the extended access and are integrated into a three-tier structure (client, server and data tiers) which ensures flexibility in access, user mobility and enhanced data security. The server site of the architecture provides service interfaces through web and invulnerable space for temporary storage, called as User Domains. This dissertation also studies a computing grid infrastructure for the web PACS architecture and a cooperative scheme between PACS and Radiology Information System (RIS) for integrated administration of imaging examinations through web. The proposed architecture is pilot implemented using mainly Java-based technologies and standard-compliant products. Τhe implemented architecture is evaluated by engineers in collaboration with doctors.

Τεχνικές ελέγχου ορθής λειτουργίας με έμφαση στη χαμηλή κατανάλωση ισχύος / VLSI testing techniques focused on low power dissipation

Η διατριβή ασχολείται με το αντικείμενο του ελέγχου ορθής λειτουργίας κυκλωμάτων κατά τον οποίο λαμβάνεται υπόψη και η συμπεριφορά ως προς την κατανάλωση ισχύος. Οι τεχνικές που προτείνονται αφορούν α) τη συμπίεση ενός συνόλου δοκιμής σε περιβάλλον ενσωματωμένου ελέγχου με χρήση εξωτερικών ελεγκτών, β) την εμφώλευση διανυσμάτων δοκιμής σε περιβάλλον ενσωματωμένου ελέγχου και γ) τη μείωση της κατανάλωση ισχύς και ενέργειας σε περιβάλλον εξωτερικού ελέγχου. Η συμπίεση των δεδομένων βασίζεται στην παρατήρηση ότι ένα διάνυσμα δοκιμής μπορεί να παραχθεί από το προηγούμενό του με την αντικατάσταση κάποιων τμημάτων του. Μεγαλύτερη συμπίεση επιτυγχάνεται όταν γίνει αναδιαταξή διανυσμάτων και αναδιάταξη των φλιπ-φλοπ της αλυσίδας ανίχνευσης. Αν η αναδιάταξη των φλιπ-φλοπ γίνει με βάση τη συχνότητα αλλαγών κατάστασης γειτονικών φλιπ-φλοπ τότε επιτυγχάνεται και μείωση της κατανάλωσης ισχύος. Όσον αφορά τις τεχνικές ενσωματωμένου αυτοελέγχου, μελετήθηκε το πρόβλημα της εμφώλευσης διανυσμάτων δοκιμής. Προτάθηκαν αποδοτικά κυκλώματα παραγωγής διανυσμάτων δοκιμής βασισμένα σε ολισθητές γραμμικής ανάδρασης και δέντρα πυλών XOR και σε ολισθητές συνδυασμένους με δέντρα πυλών OR. Όταν τα κυκλώματα υπό έλεγχο είναι κανονικής μορφής όπως είναι οι αθροιστές του αριθμητικού συστήματος υπολοίπων, προτείνονται κυκλώματα που εκμεταλεύονται την κανονική μορφή του συνόλου δοκιμής. Τέλος, σε περιβάλλον εξωτερικού ελέγχου, προτείνονται μέθοδοι αναδιάταξης διανυσμάτων δοκιμής με επανάληψη διανυσμάτων που μειώνουν την κατανάλωση. Οι μέθοδοι αυτές βασίζονται στην επιλογή των κατάλληλων ελάχιστων γεννητικών δέντρων και στη μετατροπή των κατάλληλων επαναλαμβανόμενων διανυσμάτων επιτυγχάνοντας σημαντική μείωση στην κατανάλωση ενέργειας, στη μέση και στη μέγιστη κατανάλωση ισχύος. / The dissertation is focused on VLSI testing while power dissipation is also taken into account. The techniques proposed are: a) test data compression in an embedded test environment, b) test set embedding in a built-in self test environment and c) reduction in test power dissipation in an external testing environment. Test data compression is based on the observation that a test vector can be produced from the previous one by replacing some parts of the previous vector with new parts of the current vector. The compression is even higher when the test vectors are ordered and scan cell reordering is also performed. If the scan cell reordering is based on a transition frequency approach then reduction in power dissipation is also achieved. In the case of built-in self test the problem of test set embedding was studied and efficient circuits based on linear feedback shift registers combined with XOR trees or shift registers combined with OR trees were proposed. If the circuits have a regular structure, such as the structure of residue number system adders, then a circuit taking advantage of the regular form of the test set can be derived. Finally, when external testing is considered, we proposed test vector ordering with vector repetition methods, which reduce power consumption. The methods are based on the selection of the appropriate minimum spanning trees and through the modification of the repeated vectors they achieve considerable savings in energy, average and peak power dissipation.

The use of Inverse Neural Networks in the Fast Design of Printed Lens Antennas

In this thesis the major objective is the implementation of the inverse neural network concept in the design of printed lens (transmitarray) antenna. As it is computationally extensive to perform full-wave simulations for entire transmitarray structure and thereafter perform optimization, the idea is to generate a design database assuming that a unit cell of the transmitarray is situated inside a 2D infinite periodic structure. This way we generate a design database of transmission coefficient by varying the unit cell parameters. Since, for the actual design, we need dimensions for each cell on the transmitarray aperture and to do this we need to invert the design database. The major contribution of this thesis is the proposal and the implementation of database inversion methodology namely inverse neural network modelling. We provide the algorithms for carrying out the inversion process as well as provide check results to demonstrate the reliability of the proposed methodology. Finally, we apply this approach to design a transmitarray antenna, and measure its performance.

Database centric software test management framework for test metrics

Big amounts of test data generated by the current used software testing tools (QA-C/QA-C++ and Cantata) contain a variety of different values. The variances cause enormous challenges in data aggregation and interpretation that directly affect generation of test metrics. Due to the circumstance of data processing, this master thesis introduces a database-centric test management framework for test metrics aims at centrally handling the big data as well as facilitating the generation of test metrics. Each test result will be individually parsed to be a particular format before being stored in a centralized database. A friendly front-end user interface is connected and synchronized with the database that allows authorized users to interact with the stored data. With a granularity tracking mechanism, any stored data will be systematically located and programmatically interpreted by a test metrics generator to create various kinds of high-quality test metrics. The automatization of the framework is driven by Jenkins CI to automatically and periodically performing the sequential operations. The technology greatly and effectively optimizes and reduces effort in the development, as well as enhance the performance of the software testing processes. In this research, the framework is only started at managing the testing processes on software-unit level. However, because of the independence of the database from levels of software testing, it could also be expanded to support software development at any level.

ISAGENis a tool for the automatic generation of structurally complex test inputs that imitate real communication in the context of modern information systems . Complex, typically tree-structured data currently represents the standard means of transmitting information between nodes in distributed information systems. Automatic generator ISAGENis founded on the methodology of data-driven testing and uses concrete data from the production environment as the primary characteristic and specification that guides the generation of new similar data for test cases satisfying given combinatorial adequacy criteria. The main contribution of this thesis is a comprehensive proposal of automated data generation techniques together with an implementation, which demonstrates their usage. The created solution enables testers to create more relevant testing data, representing production-like communication in information systems.

The first part describes the characteristics of plastic behavior, different plastic material laws, yield criteria for multiaxial stress states and different hardening models. In the second part, the opportunities and limitations of analyzing elasto-plastic problems with the FEM-code are described and user information is provided. The last part finally presents different examples. Deeply treated is the behavior of a uniaxial tensile test specimen before and after elongation with necking appears.
