SABOs kombohus som senioranpassat boende / SABO’s kombohus as residential for elderly

Collin, Victor, Viktor, Eriksson January 2016 (has links)

A Comparison of Three Breaststroke Turns and Their Effects on Swimming Fifty Yards

Courtway, Robert Franklin, 1927- 05 1900 (has links)
The problem with which this study was concerned was that of comparing three methods of executing the competitive breaststroke turn and their effects on swimming fifty yards. The turns utilized were the AAU, NCAA, and somersault. A related purpose was that of analyzing the time a breaststroke competitor was to be submerged on the glide following the turn. One hundred four male, senior swimmers from teams in the Arkansas AAU were rated on five components of the breaststroke. Twenty-nine advanced and thirty novice breaststrokers were selected from this group to participate in this study. The subjects were timed for a distance of fifty yards using, in order, the AAU, NCAA, and somersault turns.

Factors Influencing Health Status in Community-Dwelling Older Adults

Byam-Williams, Janet Jestina 01 January 2006 (has links)
This descriptive, correlational study was based on Pender's Health Promotion Model (Pender, Murdaugh, & Parsons, 2002). The purpose was to examine factors influencing health status in community-dwelling, older white and black adults. The following research question was addressed by the study: What are the relationships among the individual characteristics (age, gender, race, education, and income); the behavior-specific cognitions and affect (perceived self-efficacy, perceived barriers, and interpersonal influences); and the behavioral outcomes (health-promoting behaviors), and health status in community-dwelling whites and blacks 65 years of age and older? The convenience sample of 113 participants from four congregate meal sites in Central Virginia represented 46% of the young-old (aged 65 to 74 years); 83% females, 76% blacks, and 43% less than high school educated. Twenty-one percent had an annual household income of $4,999 or less, and 31% reported having an income between $10,000 and $14,999. The demographic questionnaire, the Perceived Health Competence Scale, the Barriers Scale, the Health promoting Lifestyle Profile-11, the Lubben Social Network Scale, and the Short Form-120®, Version 2 Health Survey were used to collect data. These participants reported high perceived self-efficacy (Mean = 37.35, SD = 6.76), which was positively related to a health-promoting lifestyle (r = 0.20, p2 = 0.15, F = 8.03, p = 0.01). Perceived self-efficacy and perceived barriers were the predictors of mental health (R2 = 0.29, F = 18.74, p = 0.01).

Grace Street Senior Center

Brockett, Virginia 01 January 2008 (has links)
Societal structure has changed through the decades to reflect a contemporary interest in youth culture. The nuclear family, where generations lived under one roof no longer exists, leaving the elderly on the periphery of the family structure. Where once grandparents, parents and children all cohabitated, now the oldest family members are relegated to solitary retirement and aging alone. Studies have shown that "depression in the elderly is more likely to lead to suicide. Elderlywhite men are at greatest risk, with suicide rates in people ages 80 to 84 more than twice that of the general population. The National Institute of Mental Health considers depression in people age 65 and older to be a major public health problem." (http://www.healthyplace.com/communities/depression/elderly.asp)Providing social activity for seniors can increase their well being and by extension their physicalhealth. The Grace Street Senior Center was designed to accommodate a variety of social activities for the center's members as well as house the center's administration. The member areas range in function from the public, for example, a multi-function area for dance and aerobic classes to the private such as the reading area and music room. All the spaces within the scope of this project are designed with the comfort and well being of the users paramount.

The Partisan-Professional-Dichotomy revisited: Politicization and Decision-Making of Senior Civil Servants

Ebinger, Falk, Veit, Sylvia, Fromm, Nadin January 2019 (has links) (PDF)
Politicization has an ambivalent reputation among public administration scholars. While considered an effective instrument to safeguard political control over ministerial bureaucracy, partisanship of senior civil servants is likewise associated with patronage and deemed detrimental to professionalism and meritocracy. To scrutinize this contradiction, the article examines how a party¿political background of senior civil servants influences their decision-making behavior. Two theoretically derived conceptions of loyalty are put therefore to the test: responsiveness and responsibility. Effects are captured by using vignette technique in 40 in-depth interviews with former senior civil servants from ministerial departments at federal and state level in Germany. The results are surprising insofar as they reveal that politicized senior civil servants neither act more responsive nor less responsible than their non-politicized peers. These findings challenge common assumptions and call for a more refined analysis of the conditions under which politicization leads to negative effects.

Perceptions of social development by senior officials in the National Department of Social Development, South Africa.

Mohamed, Zaheera 22 June 2011 (has links)
The primary purpose of this study was to ascertain how senior government officials employed within the Department of Social Development in South Africa perceived the social development approach to social welfare. The study was confined to the national Department of Social Development and nine senior government officials were interviewed, all of them employed in different work streams but related to social development policy development. A semi-structured interview schedule comprising of open-ended questions was utilised to collect information. A deductive thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. The main findings that emerged from the study were that senior managers employed within the national Department of Social Development had a good understanding of the social development approach to social welfare. They were familiar with the key characteristics, goals, strategies and linkages between social and economic development. Senior government officials also noted progress with the implementation of the social development approach and identified that social policies were largely aligned to this approach. In terms of challenges, senior government officials identified a range of challenges impacting on the implementation of the social development approach and this ranged from the lack of a common understanding of social development within broader government, inappropriate social service workforce, poor coordination and integration, inadequate leadership and an inadequate monitoring and evaluation system to measure social development progress. Senior government officials identified a range of suggestions to improve on the implementation of the social development approach. One of the suggestions was the development of an overarching social development strategic framework to guide the social development approach and acknowledge it as government’s chosen approach to social welfare. Many suggestions related to enhancing the capabilities of social service professionals and this included the development of a social service policy framework, enhanced engagement between higher education institutions and the Department of Social Development to ensure relevant curriculum. The findings of the study recommends a series of interventions to be implemented by the national Department of Social Development such as the development of an overarching social development strategic framework as suggested by senior government officials, an audit of policies to assess alignment with the social development approach and a review of its’ consultation processes. The findings of the study identify a need to replicate this research at provincial level to ascertain how the social development approach is understood and implemented at the point of service delivery.

Sancarranco Crisanto, Mario Henry, Espejo Rázuri, Karina Yovana, Guimaraes Blanco, Jazmín 05 April 2019 (has links)
Our entrepreneurship presents a study that examines how older adults integrate mobile communication technologies into their daily practices. From the analysis of interviews and situational conversations, applied to older adults, we have detected factors that determine the use of these technologies among the participants and we come to define the following: • The main advantage is having communication and access to information at any time and place. Older adults over 60 have incorporated these mobile communication technologies later in their lives. After growing up in a society marked by reading and writing, this age group has had to adapt to a complex environment of media technology, convergent, network and mobile. In addition, the difficulties derived from the physical and cognitive deterioration of age, such as fine motor skills and memory, are accentuated by the lack of mobile devices and applications designed to respond to the particular characteristics of this group. The achievement of this objective is important for the team, since we are aware that in Peru the rate of older adults now reaches 10.1% of the Peruvian population, that is, some 3,250,000 people. On the other hand, the team also verified, through in-depth interviews, that it is not easy for older people to manage their smartphone with skills due to insecurity and fears due to lack of adequate instruction related to technology. / Trabajo de investigación
