No. of bitstreams: 1 YuriBA_DISSERT.pdf: 1060818 bytes, checksum: 6f235d80bea42245711a85d0c7f3ec49 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-06-06 / The transmedia storytelling is a phenomenom recently conceptualized theoretically (JENKINS, 2009), arising from ficcional mediatic products and disseminated as well by the use on other fields. This search aims to analyze how the transmedia storytellings can be applied to journalism on the basis of an specific genre, the reporting. To that, take as reference theoretical developments performed by brazilian authors (FECHINE et al., 2011, 2012, 2013), on the basis of televisive fiction, which culminated on concepts as transmediation and transmedia contents and deepened the comprehension and the research in this area. Thenceforth, this study propone a problematization and apropriation of this theoretic support for the journalism field, using, for that, a comprehension of journalistic production on a speech level, as well as its social practices (newsmaking). The empiric research also take two different paths. First, analyze a group of reportings, in which there is transmediation, in order to verifying the configuration of the transmedia phenomenom - more specifically of the transmedia storytelling - and its particularities to journalism. Then, develops an investigation, based on the etnographic method, of the productive routine on the special reporting section of the Jornal do Commercio (Recife/PE), aiming to investigate the conditions of transmediation in this range and the practices that favor and difficult the employment of transmedia storytelling. The result are, therefore, compared and related, with the goal of providing multidimensional view of the phenomenom / A narrativa transm?dia se trata de fen?meno de recente conceitua??o te?rica (JENKINS, 2009), surgida a partir da an?lise de produtos midi?ticos ficcionais e disseminada tam-b?m por meio da aplica??o em outros campos.

This research analyzes the transmedia narrative television series Cheias de Charme, understood as a fictional multiplatform world, composed of several pieces distributed in different media, and into the context of media convergence. With a view to its expansion in various media controlled by production, we investigated how the principles (Jenkins 2008, 2009a, 2009b) and the strategies of expansion and spread (Fechine et al., 2013) were appropriate for fiction. To do this, literature reviews were conducted about transmidiation processes and the specifics of transmedia narrative, in order to identify possible areas of action and forms of engagement with the public. In addition, he reflected on reconfigurations of the soap opera genre in the era of participatory culture. For a better understanding of the dissertation, the observations were divided into four distinct chapters, taking as a guide and starting point the inclusion of the soap opera in the internet environment. With the aid of a descriptive research with a view to the application of the Case Study procedure in the light of Gil contributions (2010), it is believed that the proposed objectives were achieved. Finally, it was concluded that Cheias de Charme, aired by TV Globo in 2012, in time of 19h, we used creative and planned actions that have worked effectively in developing a transmedia narrative.

These changes not only change people's ways of relating, but they also offer new possibilities for journalism. After the digitization process, the current moment strengthens the media convergence, bringing about great changes in the journalistic making and in the way in which the news is consumed. This scenario allows the experimentation of new forms of narratives. This research has the objective of discussing the possibilities of the implementation of a transmedia format in journalistic activity. To this end, we will evaluate the work developed by the Research Group (GDI), investigative journalism team of the RBS Group. The analysis consists of identifying the presence of elements of the transmedia storytalling in the reports produced by GDI. The research is based on the concept of Media Ecology, where the development of a new medium does not mean the end of an earlier one, but the triggering of an adaptation process, similar to what happens in biology. Under the view that the media are not eliminated, but are completed, the analysis encompasses the entire media landscape. The analysis pays special attention to television, due to its wide penetration in the brazilian scenario, being still the main means of communication of the country as recent surveys point out, as media of launching of a transmi?tico report. From a process of categorization, the identification of the characteristics of the transmediate storytelling will be carried out in the reports of the GDI, seeking to point out the necessary changes in the procedures performed for the construction of the transmidiality. It should be noted that the paper does not seek to affirm that the work carried out by the GDI is transmissive or not, but is based on the same for the adoption of said narrative.

Our effort was dedicated to a narratological analysis of the series Game of Thrones, production fictional epic genre, which uses the embodiment of this narrative genre to institutionalize a sense of tonality, to Elizabeth Duarte, which transfers significant elements, narratological enclaves a literary substance to another, the televisual substance through action of transtext, seen in Genette. These characteristics, understood here as strategies for hearing adherence of Duarte, correlate the narrative structure, in view of the actantial function, as defined by Barthes: the function, the action and actant narration in the course of plot facts. Thus, the relationship between the production instance and the reception instance (one side measured by adherence to the discursive strategies and other lends credibility by identification with the dramatic stories and characters) are perceived as structuring, reorganised, mobilizing and upgraders narrative.

The thesis Transmedia Learning in the Classroom: the potential of media literacy aimed to investigate transmedia learning as a pedagogical approach of media literacy with teachers and students of the final grade in public basic education. For this, we developed a qualitative research using the investigative guidelines of ethnomethodology (GARFINKEL, 1967; COULON, 1995a ), by the fact it is characterized in individuals daily activities study, with attention to how they make decisions, communicate, solve problems, reason, whether by ordinary or erudite shares through technologies and media, as well as we use the action research guidelines (THIOLLENT, 2003), in regard to educational intervention proposed by us. Thus, our research is presented in two stages, namely: 1) the use of technology and media in the teaching and learning process, investigating students and teachers; 2) the transmedia learning in the classroom, an educational intervention in school where we developed this research. The data collected were analyzed in relational units considering a central theme: the use of technology and media. As a result we found that textbook is still the main media used by teacher; technologies and digital media are only mentioned by students when they carry out educational activities on their own initiative; teachers? media literacy interfere in their approach to conduct, prioritize and mediate the students media literacy process. Thus, we conclude that transmedia learning changed the dynamics of teaching and learning in classroom, providing greater enthusiasm and interaction of students with / about the object of knowledge, established a meaningful dialogue between teacher-student and studentstudent, as well as transmedia learning has potential of literacy media.

The purpose of this study aims to analyze the Telejournalism used in Rio Grande do Norte, acting by means of clipping of Intertv Cabugi station and its relationship with the audience dialogue response, from the point of view of the productive routines of journalists who select the news and guided the newscast RNTV first edition. Being included in New Communication Technologies, the work is based on media theories used by Muniz Sodr? and Hjavard. Notes on the future of journalism by Chaparro are fundamental in the development of a scientific perspective. Justified interest, given the fact that according to recent research the viewers of Rio Grande do Norte remain above the national average. It attempted to analyze what are the strategies and innovations used by the vehicle to ensure the public interest, from the perspective of the authors, Ren? and flowers, Scolari and Shirky. The methodology used was a case study, as proposed by Yin and making use of participatory research reported by Peruzzo. In order to accomplish this, was analyzed well beyond production routines, producers, and editors, but also to determine the power of speech from the viewer in the production of content by a number of methods and searching techniques, including participant observation. In order to know if there are in fact newsworthiness criteria and how based upon that they are used to select the audience participation. Results show that journalism is experiencing an identity crisis and is empirically testing solutions used in other traditional communication media. Also there was the presence of the overflow phenomenon. It was also noted, when analyzing the production routines, the lack of a core nucleus specialized in participation to intermediate these lines, and the studied application proposal is that everyone is responsible for being up to date and for the feedback to issuers, which does not occur in a satisfactory manner.

Ao problematizar a trajet?ria midi?tica do personagem Batman, analisa sua condi??o de media??o com adapta??es para o meio televisivo e cinematogr?fico identificando os discursos narrativos em contextos hist?rico-culturais distintos, com destaque para o percurso de midiatiza??o e de transmidiatiza??o, relativizando a rela??o entre autor-obra-leitor, sob a luz dos estudos culturais de John B. Related to the character Batman, born in comic books in the 1930s, this research aims to follow the temporal flow in connection with the media universe, immersed in the imagery and symbolic repertoire of mass culture through the uniqueness of his trajectory. Discussing Batman's mediatic trajectory, it analyzes his condition of mediation through his adaptations to the television and cinematographic medium, identifying the narrative discourses in distinct historicalcultural contexts, focusing on mediatization and transmidiatization, relativizing the relation between author-work based on John B. Thompson's cultural studies, Jes?s Mart?n-Barbero's mediations, Umberto Eco's narrativity, Joseph Campbell's and Christopher Vogler's hero journey concept, and studies on transmedia storytelling of Henry Jenkins and Carlos A. Solari.

The effect of scale on the morphology, mechanics and transmissivity of single rock fractures

Fardin, Nader January 2003 (has links)
This thesis investigates the effect of scale on themorphology, mechanics and transmissivity of single rockfractures using both laboratory and in-situ experiments, aswell as numerical simulations. Using a laboratory 3D laserscanner, the surface topography of a large silicon-rubberfracture replica of size 1m x 1m, as well as the topography ofboth surfaces of several high-strength concrete fracturereplicas varying in size from 50mmx50mm to 200mm x 200mm, werescanned. A geodetic Total Station and an in-situ 3D laser radarwere also utilized to scan the surface topography of a largenatural road-cut rock face of size 20m x 15m in the field. Thisdigital characterization of the fracture samples was then usedto investigate the scale dependency of the three dimensionalmorphology of the fractures using a fractal approach. Thefractal parameters of the surface roughness of all fracturesamples, including the geometrical aperture of the concretefracture samples, were obtained using the Roughness-Lengthmethod. The results obtained from the fractal characterization ofthe surface roughness of the fracture samples show that bothfractal dimension, D, and amplitude parameter, A, for aself-affine surface are scale-dependent, heterogeneous andanisotropic, and their values generally decrease withincreasing size of the sample. However, this scale-dependencyis limited to a certain size—defined as the stationaritythreshold, where the surface roughness parameters of thefracture samples remain essentially constant beyond thisstationarity threshold. The surface roughness and thegeometrical aperture of the tested concrete fracture replicasin this study did not reach stationarity due to the structuralnon-stationarity of their surface at small scales. Although theaperture histogram of the fractures was almost independent ofthe sample size, below their stationarity threshold both theHurst exponent, Hb, and aperture proportionality constant, Gb,decrease on increasing the sample sizes. To investigate the scale effect on the mechanical propertiesof single rock fractures, several normal loading and directshear tests were performed on the concrete fracture replicassubjected to different normal stresses under Constant NormalLoad (CNL) conditions. The results showed that both normal andshear stiffnesses, as well as the shear strength parameters ofthe fracture samples, decrease on increasing the sample size.It was observed that the structural non-stationarity of surfaceroughness largely controls the contact areas and damage zoneson the fracture surfaces as related to the direction of theshearing. The aperture maps of the concrete fracture replicas ofvarying size and at different shear displacements, obtainedfrom numerical simulation of the aperture evolution duringshearing using their digitized surfaces, were used toinvestigate the effect of scale on the transmissivity of thesingle rock fractures. A FEM code was utilized to numericallysimulate the fluid flow though the single rock fractures ofvarying size. The results showed that flow rate not onlyincreases on increasing the sample size, but also significantlyincreases in the direction perpendicular to the shearing, dueto the anisotropic roughness of the fractures. <b>Key words:</b>Anisotropy, Aperture, Asperity degradation,Contact area, Finite Element Method (FEM), Flow analysis,Fractals, Fracture morphology, Heterogeneity,Stress-deformation, Surface roughness, Roughness-Length method,Scale dependency, Stationarity, Transmissivity, 3D laserscanner.
