Natursyn och kärnkraft / View of nature and nuclear power

Gustavsson, Karin January 2008 (has links)
The nuclear power have, as long as it has been existing, been a discussed source of energy. The purpose with this report is to study and to get a picture if how and in what way the viewof nature cohere with the opinions about nuclear power. I have described what energy is, thehistory of nuclear power in Sweden and as a source of energy. I have also described thepositive and the negative aspects of nuclear power. To be able to present a picture of view ofnature and nuclear power I have done quality interviews with persons who, in different ways, are familiar with the problems of nuclear power. My investigation has shown that view ofnature is a complex and wide concept that we should be aware of in our work towards a moresustainable society.

På gränsen - om gränsland och gränsvarelser : En undersökande analys av natursynen i Andrea Lundgrens Glupahungern / On the verge - lands and creatures of the border : An analysis of how nature is viewed in the novel Glupahungern by Andrea Lundgren

Leo, Josefin January 2019 (has links)
This is an ecocritical analysis of the novel Glupahungern by Andrea Lundgren. I investigate how nature is viewed by looking at two things. First, I look at two functions in the novel. I analyze the function of characters that seem to be in between the human side and the animal side. I call them creatures of the border. I also analyze the function of places that can be seen as borderlands. Places between nature and society. Second, I do a small comparison between Glupahungern and the novel Hjortronlandet by Sara Lidman since they both are written by authors from the north of Sweden and the novels also takes place in the northern parts. Through this comparison I find similarities between the novel and how nature is viewed in them and I come to the conclusion that the place has an impact on the view of nature. Keywords: Nature, Border, Ecocriticism, View on nature, Northern Sweden

The Influence of the View of Nature on Biology Education in Zimbabwe, a Minor Field Study / Natursynens påverkan på biologiundervisningen i Zimbabwe

Sterve, Hanna January 2002 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to look into the teaching methods and content in Zimbabwean biology education, and the possible influences that the teachers’ view of nature have on this education. The study was performed in and around Mutare in eastern Zimbabwe with eleven observations and six interviews in primary and secondary schools, corresponding to years four to nine in the Swedish compulsory school. My study shows that the teachers’ view of nature is in many parts similar to the Swedish view of nature, but differ in a closer connection to religiosity and in a more every-day-life relation to nature. This is reflected in several of the concepts that view of nature consist of. The view of nature is influencing the content in biology partly. Since science hold universal concepts which are the same all around the world, the view of nature does not influence the scientific parts of biology, but have influence on where the emphases in the education is put. The results show no direct influence of the view of nature on teaching methods, but indirectly influenced by the choice of content.

En osynlig gräns : En komparativ ekokritisk undersökning av Blackfish och Grizzly Man / An Invisible Borderline : A Comparative Ecocritical Study of Blackfish and Grizzly Man

Blid, Arild January 2023 (has links)
This thesis conducts a comparative and ecocritical examination of Blackfish and Grizzly Man, two nature documentary films dealing with separate cases of human fatalities caused by wild animals. The aim was to show how nature and non-human animals as well as the relationship between humans/civilization and non-human animals/nature are represented in the films. Additionally, the effects of the representations of non-human animals on a viewer are also examined. For examining representations, the main theoretical frameworks used were: Frans De Waal’s understanding of the concepts of animalcentric and anthropocentric anthropomorphism, and Hillevi Ganetz’s understanding and use of the concept of natursyn (english: view on nature), meaning cultural interpretations of nature, which divides into three views: beautiful, sublime and picturesque. For the additional aim, the concepts of trans-species empathy and false-intimacy were used, the former via Alexa Weik von Mossner’s understanding and use, the latter via Derek Bousé’s. Essentially, the related concepts refer to the human ability to engage emotionally with non-human characters.  What the results show is that both Grizzly Man and Blackfish have ambivalent attitudes toward nature. In both Grizzly Man and Blackfish there are signs of different kinds of anthropomorphism. In terms of natursyn, Grizzly Man consists of a picturesque and a sublime view, articulated verbally and visually, whereas Blackfish consists of a beautiful and a picturesque view, articulated verbally, visually and sonically. The thesis also shows that the representations of orcas as human-like and close-ups of orcas with physical injuries in Blackfish have the potential of creating trans-species empathy. In Grizzly Man, Werner Herzog’s indifferent conception of nature, proclaimed through spoken narration as close-ups of a bear face are shown, discourages the potential effects of such imagery, namely false intimacy.

Att undvika den störande kvisten. Naturfotografers natursyn

Bergman, Cecilia January 2015 (has links)
The aim of this study is to increase the knowledge of nature photographers’ view on nature. The study is founded in qualitative interviews with six nature photographers. Hannigans typology of environmental discourse development during the twentieth century is used as theory for the study, including the arcadian, ecosystem and social justice discourse. Nature photography is an example of the arcadian discourse and my study shows that it is the strongest discourse in the field of nature photography, although some nature photographers also adhere to the ecosystem and social justice discourses. The arcadian discourse affects both how nature photographers construct nature and the potential for development of nature photography. The development of discourses over time that Hannigan sees in society can also be seen in individual photographers; following some time of photographing they move from the arcadian discourse and start questioning the beautiful nature photography as a concept.
