Ett skriv- och publiceringsverktyg i mobilformat : Hur en mobilapplikation kan stödja journalisters arbetsprocess. / A writing and publishing tool in mobile format : How a mobile application can support journalists' work process.

Reslow, Fanny January 2019 (has links)
Journalists' work process has during the 21st century gone through a change because of the mobile's development. The mobile phone's development together with the internet has made it possible to have faster and better access to news. A new area of journalism has been developed, called mobile journalism. A journalist that works with mobile journalism works out on the field with the mobile as a tool and does all the steps covered by the production of news. The client in this project has developed a digital writing and publishing tool but lacks a solution today for mobile format. The journalist's work takes place in different environments that vary. This study investigates how journalists work and based on that data, a concept and interface has been designed with the aim of supporting the work process of writing and publishing articles. Work system theory (WST) is used as a starting point for creating an understanding of the journalists' work situation. Work System Framework (WSF) helps to understand how different factors in a work system affect production. Utility and usability are defined to drive further development of journalists' work systems. A study with a total of 10 participants involved in the production of newspaper articles has been conducted. The result shows that the work process for journalists is flexible and varied. There is a need for a system of simpler interactions, and which enables rapid transmission and processing of images. The journalists' needs and goals decides the basis for the design of a design proposal that answers how a mobile application can be designed to support journalists' writing and publishing process for digital newspaper production. The interface needs to be validated to confirm if the interface supports journalists in their work process with digital newspaper production.

Practical Insights into Recurring Issues of Requirements Elicitation : The potential of systems analysis in addressing these issues

Janits, Michael January 2013 (has links)
Requirements elicitation has been identified by researchers as a highly critical and error-prone phase of IT development projects. Many challenges are rooted in the human and social dimension of this phase, which requires intensive communication activities between stakeholders with different backgrounds and perspectives. The conduct of a systems analysis supports stakeholders in reaching a shared understanding about crucial elements. The aim of this paper is to identify and describe recurring issues in requirements elicitation, and to better understand the potential of systems analysis efforts for addressing these issues. While literature provides plenty of high-level categorizations of requirements elicitation issues most often the argumentation is not complemented with concrete, real-world examples. Therefore five interviews with IT practitioners have been conducted in order to back-up a theoretical framework of problem areas elaborated by Saiedian and Dale (2000) with practical insights. This approach enabled a thorough analysis of four major issues in requirements elicitation covered by this research: Problem Perspective Differences, Resistance, Poor Communication and Articulation/Expertise Problems. Finally, a first linkage between a specific systems analysis method, the Work System Method, and its potential for addressing these problem areas has been established.

Achieving Contextual Ambidexterity Through the Implementation of High Performance Work Systems (HPWS)

Armour, Alexandro F. 03 May 2015 (has links)
Small information technology and management consulting businesses face increasingly contradictory strategic choices as they develop products and services for the marketplace. Building contextual ambidexterity is essential to the survival of small businesses as they seek to attain a desired balance of alignment and adaptability. Human Resource Management practices facilitate the development of ambidexterity within individuals thereby facilitating ambidexterity of the organization as a whole. Studies suggest that in order for an organization to be ambidextrous, its human resource management function also needs to ambidextrous. High-performance work systems are human resource practices designed to enhance the ability, motivation, and opportunity of employees with the overarching goal of attracting, retaining, and motivating human resources toward the completion of organizational goals. Based on Gibson and Birkinshaw’s concept of organizational ambidexterity, a qualitative case study of a small technology solution provider was conducted to explore the process by which CloudCo attempted to build contextual ambidexterity by implementing a high-performance work system. Findings show that executive management of small technology solution providers can build contextual ambidexterity and sustain a competitive advantage through the implementation of high-performance work systems but must overcome a series of important tensions to do so.

Digitalisering av restaurangtjänster till följd av Covid-19-pandemin : Hur restaurangverksamheter påverkas av att införa system för digital beställning och betalning

Carlsson, Mats, Kvarnbäck, Molly January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact that digitization of service processes can have on restaurants. The restaurant industry has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic due to restrictions that prohibits large physical gatherings that only allows table service. As a result of this, several restaurants have turned to digital solutions where sitting guests, through their mobile devices, order to the table through a digital menu and pay through their phone. This has led to a digital transformation in the restaurants affecting the whole organization. The impact that these digital-, ordering and payment tools have on restaurant organizations have been examined by studying different types of restaurants that have all integrated the same type of tool for digital ordering and payment. Through a qualitative method with a deductive approach, data has been collected through literature research, semi-structured interviews and observational studies to contribute to the topic being investigated. The study is primarily aimed towards those who may be interested in undergoing a digital transformation in restaurant operations. The purpose of the study is to investigate what impact a digitalisation of service processes has had on restaurants as a result of Covid-19 and what specific factors are important in the restaurant when a digital transformation is to be implemented and why. The study first presents the result from the data collection that is analyzed in a later section incombination with previous theories. The result and the analysis are then discussed followed by a conclusion. The study shows that the implementation of digital service processes has a major impact on workroles, work processes and experience in restaurant services. Attitudes towards the implementation ofdigital service processes are largely influenced by the context in which it is implemented. The studyalso shows that the restaurant business's operations change in such a way that the digital ordering and payment tool has automated certain activities and thereby facilitated for the staff but at the same time, unpredictable events have led to the activities have become more for the staff. The digital ordering has affected the staff's work role and competencies because more time is being spent on explaining the technical use of the digital ordering tool instead of the menu and assortment. The survey also shows that a digital transformation is primarily applicable to restaurants that offer simpler food and drink and where there is large value in getting one's order fast.

The impacts of high performance work system on career plateau and role performance, turnover intention: Using perception of supervisor support as moderator

Liu, Szu-ying 19 August 2012 (has links)
Talented people are the key factor for enterprises to maintain their competitive advantage. Since 1980s, due to the changes of internal and external environments, reorganization and simplification have become the patterns of organizations, which indicating promotion possibility in an organization has been relatively reduced. These generate the feeling of development limitation within employees and result in the phenomenon of career plateau. However, high performance work system is regarded as a set of management system in human resources field , and it includes most types of best management practices. Therefore, this study attempts to explore antecedents and consequences of variable of the career plateau, including a negative correlation between high performance work system and career plateau as well as the impact of the career plateau on role performance and turnover intention, and whether the perceived supervisor support will be an interference effect. In this study, pairing questionnaires are offered to executives and organizational members 47 effective matching samples are received. Hierarchical linear model is used in this study to verify the hypothesis. The results show: 1. Career plateau is negatively associated with role performance; 2. Career plateau is positively associated with the turnover intention; 3. The effect of perceived supervisor support can interfere with both career plateau and turnover intention. The findings of this study indicate: 1. Organizations should establish career planning and development for employees in order to reduce the adverse effects of career plateau; 2. Organizations should find a method to increase employees¡¦ perceived of supervisor support in order to reduce the negative effects of career plateau; 3. High performance work system is a systematic system. It should be assessed in depth regarding the way of solving the career plateau. Finally, suggestions for future research and the limitation of this study are also discussed. Keywords: career plateau, high performance work system, role performance, turnover intention, perceived supervisor support

The data was collected by the researcher using mailing and delivering questionnaires. The sample size included 500 hair stylists from north, central, and south of Taiwan. There were 307 questionnaires and the return rate was 61.4%. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson correction analysis, and Structure equation modeling. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The perception of hair stylists on the human resource management practices showed high in employment security, then in decrease status distinction, training, contingent and compensation. 2. The organizational commitment and technical ability showed positive corrections on human resource system. In addition, the influence on the organizational commitment is greater than on the technical ability. 3. There was a negative relationship between organizational commitment and turnover intention. 4. There was a positive relationship between technical skill and work performance. 5. The work performance could be improved by using the intermediary result of technical ability from the human resource management practices. 6. There was a negative relationship between turnover intention and human resource management practices.
