The impact of utilitarian and hedonic needs satisfaction on brand trust, brand affect and brand loyalty for selected fast moving consumer goods in South Africa

Adams, Ashraf January 2016 (has links)
Magister Commercii - MCom / The concept of brand loyalty highlights the importance of brands in marketing strategy development because it leads to a stream of benefits for the company (lower marketing costs, less price sensitivity, greater market share and greater profits). Questions thus arise about how brand loyalty is achieved, especially for low involvement product categories classified as fast moving consumer goods (FMCGs). Models of how brand loyalty is built have been tested and most agree that brand loyalty is linked to satisfying customer needs. Knowledge about the type of needs (utilitarian and hedonic) is however, not usually determined. How the different types of needs first influence brand trust and brand affect, before affecting consumer satisfaction, also requires investigation. This study therefore tested how brand building efforts for some selected FMCG brands in South Africa impact on brand loyalty, as well as the extent to which utilitarian and hedonic need satisfaction leads to brand trust and brand affect for these low involvement products. The study also examined the extent to which brand trust and affect influence consumer satisfaction, examined as drivers of attitudinal and behavioural brand loyalty. Quantitative research methods were used to collect and analyse the data, appropriate because of the nature of the research (testing relationships between multi-variables), and the fact that standardised instruments were available to test the proven and valid variables. Data was collected from 272 White, Indian, Coloured and Black South Africans living in Cape Town. The respondents were sampled from malls in Nyanga (targeting Black consumers, most of whom represent lower income consumers), Mitchell's Plain (targeting middle income Coloured and Black consumers), and Canal Walk (targeting high income White, Coloured, Indian and Black consumers), all of which either have SPAR, Pick n Pay or Shoprite/Checkers retailers that sell FMCGs. Structural equation modelling was the main data analysis method for this multivariate investigation.

Generation Z and brand loyalty: the influence of Gen Z specific expectations on attitudinal and behavioural loyalty

Cagnin, Nine, Nicolas, Manon January 2022 (has links)
Background - Generation Z is the future larger group of consumers. Members of thisgeneration are key in the strategy of brands to remain competitive in the long-term. Buttheir loyalty is more difficult to get compared to other generations. It is assumed that itis linked to their specific expectations and the way brands handle them. Thus, theobjective of this study is to determine the real influence of these particular expectationson the two dimensions of Gen Z brand loyalty, attitudinal and behavioural.Method - Several hypotheses about the relationships between attitudinal loyalty, behavioural loyalty, ethical position, omnichannel experience, value for money, entertaining content and authenticity have been made. To confirm them, a questionnairetargeting French Gen Z and focusing on fashion brands has been sent via social mediaand answered by 150 respondents.Findings - The results of linear regressions show that value for money has a positiveinfluence on both attitudinal and behavioural loyalty. Also, omnichannel experienceinfluences behavioural loyalty positively while entertaining content influencesattitudinal loyalty positively. On the contrary, entertaining content has a negative impacton behavioural loyalty. So attitudinal loyalty as a moderating effect as its influence onbehavioural loyalty is positive. Ethical position and authenticity did not show anysignificant results. Conclusions - Value for money, omnichannel experience and entertaining content areespecially important to consider when it comes to Gen Z loyalty. Quite the reverse, ethics and authenticity are not as essential as suggested by many researchers andmarketers. Beyond this, the study contributes to knowledge by proving that brandloyalty should not be considered as a unit but as a multi-dimensional concept. Gen Zexpectations do not have the same influence on attitudinal and behavioural loyalty somarketers should be aware of that when building their strategy.

Perceptions of registered nurses with regard to continuing formal education

Richards, Lydia Elizabeth 31 July 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore and describe registered nurse's perceptions with regard to continuing formal education. A quantitative descriptive, explorative research design was used to study registered nurses views with regard to continuing formal education and to identify the barriers to continuing formal education as experienced by registered nurses. Convenience sampling was used to select the research sample of registered nurses working at four state health institutions in the Western Cape Province, South Africa. Descriptive statistics, based on calculations using the Microsoft (MS) Excel (for Windows 2000) programme, were used to summarise and describe the research results obtained from the questions completed by the registered nurses. The research results indicated that most registered nurses perceive continuing formal education as beneficial to their personal and professional growth and to improve the quality of patient/client care, but barriers exist which prevent or deter them from undertaking continuing formal education programmes. The main barriers were identified as structural barriers, including lack of funding, job and family responsibilities and lack of coherent staff development planning. / Health Studies / M. A. Decision-Making at the Court of Appeals Level Involving Religious Liberty Cases

Reeves, Susan Kay 12 1900 (has links)
Many studies have been completed on factors affecting judicial decisions. Studies have focused on civil rights cases, economic cases, criminal cases, sexual discrimination and obscenity cases, but no work has specifically looked at religious liberty cases. This work examines the factors affecting United States Courts of Appeals judges' decision-making in religious liberty cases. I hypothesize that gender, race, religious background, prior judicial experience, circuit, region and litigant status will all influence the way judges vote in religious liberty cases. The explanatory power of this study is relatively low, but the results indicate that judges follow the law when making decisions in religious liberty cases.

Attitudes toward Research and Teaching: Differences Between Faculty and Administrators at Three Saudi Arabian Universities

Alsouhibani, Mohammed A. 05 1900 (has links)
This study is an investigation of the perceived attitudinal differences between administrators and faculty toward research and teaching at three Saudi Arabian universities, King Saud University (KSU), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), and the Islamic University (IU). The researcher also investigated the effect of several variables, such as rank, university, and academic field on administrators and faculty members' attitudes toward teaching and research. Little Attention has been given to studies that examine the differences between faculty and administrators with regard to their attitudes toward the priorities of teaching and research in Saudi Arabian institutions. Also, little research has been conducted regarding the effects of rank and academic field on faculty attitudes in Saudi Arabian institutions. The author used a mail survey and collected 518 useable responses from a total of 710 questionnaires distributed. Factor analysis, MANCOVA, MANOVA, and ANOVA were the statistical methods employed in data analysis. Five attitudes were identified as a result of factor analysis: (a) attitudes toward teaching; (b) attitudes toward research; (c) mission; (d) promotion; and (e) interest. Results indicated that there was a significant difference between faculty and administrators regarding teaching and resea4rch. Administrators showed stronger attitudes toward teaching than faculty at all three universities. There were also significant differences regarding these attitudes in terms of rank, academic field, and university. Full professors had the strongest attitude toward a research emphasis compared to assistant professors. Assistant professors had the strongest teaching orientation. In addition, faculty members in the humanities had stronger teaching orientations preferences than did those in the natural and social sciences. Regarding the universities, faculty members at IU had the strongest teaching orientation preferences, whereas faculty members at KSU had the strongest research orientation preferences.

The Stand of Science and the person with visual impairment: a study about attitudinal accessibility in scientific diffusion

Silva, Renata Teles da 17 October 2018 (has links)
Consideramos necessária uma qualificação de seus/as mediadores/as continuamente e uma multissensorialidade de seus produtos culturais em suas intervenções para quando se deparar com as pessoas com deficiência visual / The Stand of Science is an interdisciplinary project of the University of São Paulo of non-formal interventions of critical dialogical diffusion Science for people of all age groups. However, their mediators, students of different undergraduate courses, lack academic training in the area of accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. In this context, the following questions arise: are there attitudinal barriers on the part of the Stand of Science mediators in the scientific diffusion for the visually impaired elderly? What are the perceptions these mediators have about visually impaired people? Placing them in the face of a concrete situation involving blind people, do their perceptions change in any way? In order to answer these questions, this research aimed to analyze the interventions of the Stand of Science regarding the attitudinal accessibility of its mediators for the visually impaired elderly in non-school space, because the process of aging of the Brazilian population has been emphasized and equality of opportunity can not be confused with equal treatment. In this way, we have specific objectives: 1. Understand the perception of the mediators of the Stand of Science on accessibility, inclusion and multisensoriality for people with visual impairment; 2. Analyze how mediators formulate their interventions accessible to the blind and low vision elderly; 3. To find out how mediators behave towards the visually impaired elderly; and, 4. Find out if after the interventions, the perceptions of the mediators about people with visual impairment change. We have three hypotheses about mediators: i. even showing interest in the inclusion of people with visual impairment, remain with prejudiced and stereotyped attitudes; they reduce disability to the question of meaning; and, their perception changes after contact with people with visual impairment. This research was characterized under the line participant research and the analysis of the language of the mediators occurred with reference in Social Constructionism and Analysis of the French Discourse. We found that although some mediators presented stereotyped, discriminatory and fearful attitudes, there is an attempt to approximate with the elderly blind or with low vision. We verified that all mediators defined visual impairment by the medical model, reducing disability to the issue of meaning and some have a mythological model based on visual impairment, that is, a very solid cultural historical perception of disability as something that limits and makes impossible the blind people to get around, to study and / or actively participate in academic research. Some mediators have a superficial notion of accessibility, inclusion and multisensoriality for visually impaired people, inferring from the interpretation of the words in the question act. After the interventions, it was possible to verify that the mediators continued reducing the visual deficiency to the matter of the sense, nevertheless, they came to perceive themselves as beings touching, listener, tasting and olfactory. We consider it necessary to continually qualify your mediators and multisensoriality of your cultural products in your interventions for when you encounter visually impaired people

Informação e Educação: um estudo sobre as relações entre atitudes, saberes e dispositivos culturais / Information and Education: a study about the relations between attitudes, knowledgement and cultural devices

Passos, Marcos Paulo de 29 June 2018 (has links)
The research adresses the relation between cultural devices (libraries) and the constitution of attitudinal information knowledges, in special (but not exclusively), by children and young people. The approach of the question stems from inquiries about different tendencies observed around the so called informational literacies and the learning from research. The objective is to identify the role of cultural devices in the processes of construction of attitudes face to the knowledge. The methodology was developed under two axes: bibliographic research and field research in the Estação do Conhecimento Einstein-Paraisópolis, which implied the selection of an empiric object of analysis: the \"Learning to Research Program\" (Programa Aprendendo a Pesquisar (PAP). Furthermore, the research has had approach and participation in the international context, in dialogue with francophone researchers and professionals who act in Public Libraries in the city of Rennes, France. The results indicate the possibility of reinvention of the notion of research as significant relation of the acts of knowing and creating knowledge, considering the cognitive, affective and conative aspects of the subjects in the context of the dialogical cultural device. We conclude that the redefinition of the character and of the means of relation with knowing can act in favor of the construction of internal convictions, to be explicit by affirmative actions of the subjects (cultural protagonism), facing the utilitarian, procedural and pragmatic dynamics that mark our time, above all, for the notion of competitiveness for knowledge, that has been marking practices in the context of the libraries.

The present research aimed to verify the main factors that influence relationship managers’ performance in the brazilian banking private sector. Based upon previous studies, there were listed as possible factors that influence the performance of bank managers: reduction of interest conflict, empowerment, reduction of complexity, concessions, performing the service correctly at the first time, relationship, conservatism, migration for automated services, training and experience in finances area. Given the importance of the private sector in this segment, which among the six major institutions, manage R$ 4 trillion in assets, this study investigated factors that create performance and sought for the impact of its relations with the variables: profitability, default and attitudinal performance. The banking institution, which was the object of this study, is 100% national capital and operates among the market banking leaders, with more than 5.000 branches and 100.000 employees. The survey was made by sending questionnaires, in which 288 managers located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul answered questions regarding the constructs. The results pointed that seven out of ten constructs had the influence in the managers’ performance: interest conflict, concessions, performing the service correctly at the first time, the use of empowerment, conservatism, migration for automated services and training. For this present study, it was, therefore, possible to describe a particular model and make a comparison with the previous model, based on the same constructs, however, in the banking context of mixed economy.

Mudanças nas concepções e ações docentes: processo de integração de computadores portáteis ao currículo / Changes in teachers concepts and actions: process of integration of laptop computers into the curriculum

Gonçalves, Lina Maria 16 December 2015 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-27T14:31:40Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Lina Maria Goncalves.pdf: 4836539 bytes, checksum: c4cf4010a7e2a0b920f665dc48e64150 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-12-16 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This work is linked to the Graduate Program in Education: Curriculum of Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), and aims to understand possible changes in the concepts and practices of the participating teachers in the training Program One Computer per Student in the state of Tocantins (PROUCA TO) in curriculum, Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) and DICT integration of the school curriculum in order to clarify the conceptual changes and / or attitudinal (especially those changes indicative of innovation evidence in the curriculum). The research was developed in two primary schools (EF), in the municipality of Gurupi / TO, using mainly methods and techniques of qualitative research, following the spiral of Elliott research-action. It used documental analysis (Proposal of the curriculum of the Municipality, Political-Pedagogical Projects - PPP and Thematic Projects of Schools, Projects and Teaching Plans); entry questionnaires and exit interviews with the four participating research teachers. Also, participant observation was performed in the moments dedicated to planning and development of these teachers classes and their actual classes, using laptops. A sample of lessons observed was videotaped and used in interviews of recollection stimulation in order to cause reflection on the teaching moments of action. Data were organized with the support of NVivo software and subjected to content analysis in the following categories: Conception of curriculum; Educational use of DICT; Curriculum integration of TDIC; and DICT changes or Innovation s Evidence. The latter was composed of four sub-categories adapted from Pacheco: Type of Decision, Educational Aspects, Sources of Information and Teacher Awareness, especially for the analysis focused on recollection stimulation interviews in order to understand the evolution of thought of teachers (initial behavior and reconsidered) in relation to the actions developed with the use of laptops. As main results, it is important to distinguish between two directions, in the observed changes (in the concepts and in the pedagogic actions). Changes were observed in dichotomous concept of the teachers between curricular and extracurricular activities to the prospect of integration between the two groups of activities. There have also been changes in the design of occasional use of laptops for integrated use in the school curriculum. Regarding the teachers' actions, the highlights were three levels changes in the use of laptops: from curriculum addendum to use as didactic and pedagogical resource; from use as reinforcing content to use as feature didactic and pedagogical; from didactic use and pedagogical resource to the integrated use in the school curriculum.

Viana, Maria Aparecida Soares 02 September 2015 (has links)
The research theme has emerged from the teaching experience as a teacher in technical nurse education in an organization where the study was conducted. The objective of this research was to analyze how the teaching and the evaluation of attitudinal contents in the education of technical nursing professionals have been held in a private school in São Paulo State. It is a qualitative research. To collect the data, there were documentary analysis beforehand and afterwards, two focus group sessions with the seven participant teachers. The meetings were recorded, transcribed and analyzed by content analysis with the modality of thematic analysis and two themes were obtained for discussion and for building an attitudinal assessment tool: Assessment in the teaching-learning process with the sub-theme: difficulties in the process of teaching and of assessing learning. Theme II: The teaching and the assessment of attitudinal contents with the following sub-themes: difficulties on teaching and on evaluating attitudinal contents; criteria and tools for attitudinal assessment. The theoretical framework was based on constructivism and on the process of assessing attitudinal contents according to Antoni Zabala. The completion of this research contributed to the initial systematization of attitudinal assessment conducted by teachers with the proposal of an instrument, built jointly, containing attitudinal evaluation criteria in the education of technical nursing professionals
