Dinâmica das relações familiares: compreendendo o convívio com familiar dependente de cuidados físicos / Dynamics of Family Relations: understanding the experience of living with a relative depending on physical care

Maria das Neves Decesaro 15 January 2007 (has links)
The dynamics of family relations is presented as an important element to be investigated, considering the perspective of wholeness in family care. We work from the premise that, in view of a situation of illness, daily life and family relations are altered, unleashing processes of unstructuring and structuring in search of a balance, even if conflicting, to provide support this new life condition. The study object for this research is delimited by family relations, with the objective of understanding central elements that take part or are present in this dynamic when, unexpectedly, the family has to deal with an adult family member who has become dependent on physical care. We selected the theoretical-methodological framework of Michel Maffesoli, related to the sociology of daily life. In this approach, life is seen as a subtle and complex network of little and obscure daily facts, concretized by a set of social relations, among which family relations stand out. The notion of living together carries the idea of experiencing emotions, sharing environments, agreeing and disagreeing with values together, living-with-the-other a harmony that integrates disharmony. We adopted the methodological perspective of formism, referenced by Maffesoli, to whom form is a methodological lever that allows to model social data, to the extent that it describes its outlines in order to weave an objective and subjective structure that promotes a global understanding of the study phenomenon. Data were collected in the families? homes. The researcher used individual open interviews, semi structured interviews and focus groups with family group members. Data were organized in the form of genograms, which present the bonds between different relatives, and discourse was cut according to categories and subcategories, which revealed the presence of joint family life in its dimensions of alterity and complementariness; the sense of limit of the family group points towards the tragic experience and the manifestations of theatricalization; group resistance mechanisms indicated astuteness, the game of representation and silence manifested strength and power to live and, finally, group solidarity shows the mechanic and organic aspects of family sociality. The understanding of the dynamics of family relations in joint life with the person who depends on physical care provides nurses with the perspective of actions located at a primary level from the prospects of contemplation and co-responsible action, as it is inserted in a space-time that is domestic and family-related, in which a tragic event is experienced, with possibilities to destructure and restructure family relations. In the scope of public health policies, this study contributes in particular with the strategy of the Family Health program, in that it returns care to its setting through subjectivity, emphasizing that the imaginary and symbolic are fundamental elements to the implementation of this important policy, which guide a care network. The practice of family nursing care takes place in a unique physical and social setting, thus heterogeneous, fluid, conflicting, of construction and deconstruction of family relations, which requires care technologies based on the principles of sensibility and conjunction derived from the ethic of esthetic.

The present study aimed to understand the emotional experiences of mothers of female adolescents whose daughters were diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and who are receiving treatment at the Out-patient Clinic for Eating Disorders at the University Hospital of UNICAMP. The Clinical Qualitative Method was used, through in-depth semi directed interviews, using an intentional sample, closed by saturation, with seven mothers of female patients with anorexia nervosa. The interviews were conducted individually in the Outpatient Clinic of Eating Disorders, HC UNICAMP. Ethical Care was taken following the ethical standards established by the National Council of Health. The technical data processing was done through the qualitative content analysis of the fully transcribed interviews and categorization. The emerging categories were validated by peer-reviewers from the Laboratory of Clinical-Qualitative Research, UNICAMP and presentation at national and international conferences. The findings made it possible to identify aspects in mothers of patients with anorexia nervosa which were organized in three categories: Non-differentiated mother-daughter and failures in communication; Quantity versus quality; e Anorexia and opposition as an attack. Mothers propose a fusional relationship with their daughters, in which the aspects of individuality are ill-defined. The daughters' attempts to become individuals are felt as an attack, and experienced by mothers as injustice and aggression. The mothers have difficulties to understand their daughters' logic and try to remedy a qualitative deficiency with quantity, especially of food and care. A vicious circle is formed, in which motherhood is confused with rigid control standards and expectations for the daughter and every attempt of the daughters to individualize are experienced by their mothers as an attack on the mother and on her devotion, which leads mothers to increase her offensive to make her daughter adapt to the model she is proposing. We concluded that the findings provide important contributions which can improve knowledge and clinical interventions to treat anorexia nervosa, emphasizing the need for psychotherapeutic and psycho-education for the mothers of these patients / Mestrado / Ciencias Biomedicas / Mestre em Ciências Médicas

Les transferts intergénérationnels des parents à leurs descendants en Europe : la solidarité comme mécanisme de (re)production des inégalités / Intergenerational transfers from parents to offspring in Europe : solidarity as a (re)producer of inequalities

Papuchon, Adrien 19 November 2014 (has links)
Family solidarity is usually regarded as a counterweight to the growth of inequalities, and - for a given age - the country is considered a major differentiation factor in its implementation process. On the contrary, our results show how family intervention stratifies, in each national context, the transition to adulthood and contributes to the transmission of social inequalities from one generation to another. Building on the SHARE survey project, we compare the development of the three main kinds of intergenerational transfers from parents to their offspring in thirteen European countries : monetary gifts, intergenerational coresidency and time transfers. In the whole set of countries, these practices are vectors of intergenerational transmission of inequalities : gifts are largely based upon parents’ resources - and, above all, their wealth -, coresidency brings out significant inequalities to its beneficiaries, and social support, even if apparently answering children’s needs, plays an essential role in the reproduction of the gendered division of domestic work. As a consequence, this work advocates for a new focus on determinants and social impacts of family solidarity, and sheds new light on the relation between the three “pillars” of the welfare regime (public sector, market, family). Last but not least, it leads to a renovation of the traditional understanding of consequences of the unequal family intervention during the first years of adulthood.

SIGNIFICADOS DO PROCESSO GESTACIONAL NA VIVÊNCIA DA FAMÍLIA / MEANINGS OF PREGNANCY PROCESS ON THE FAMILY EXPERIENCE

Stumm, Karine Eliel 20 December 2012 (has links)
Considering pregnancy as a family experience, cultural baggage implies directly on referrals to be made in each specific situation. Comprehending this, the nurse can direct her care, singularizing it. So, the main aim of this study is to know how it s the pregnancy experience of families about the process of pregnancy whose women are assisted in Kennedy Sanitary Unit, in the city of Santa Maria/RS. We developed a field, descriptive, qualitative study with cultural approach. Research subjects were five pregnant women and five family members that develop prenatal nursing consults, on Kennedy Primary Care Unit (KPCU), in the city of Santa Maria/RS. As data collect instrument, we used semi-structured interview and observation. Data were analyzed according to Minayo in theme analysis. We followed the norms of Resolution nº 196/96 Of the National Health Board of Ministry of Health. The results will be presented in the form of three articles. Article 1: The family and the gestational process: experiences and meanings; Article 2: The experience of pregnancy from the perspective of family members of pregnant women: a descriptive study; Article 3: Prenatal care from the perspective of pregnant women and families. The experience of pregnancy gives several meanings for both the mother and for his family, unique to each individual, but dependent on socialization and cohabitation between members of a family unit. Should include the family in prenatal care, as this along with the pregnant woman experiences the whole experience of pregnancy.

Negotiating normality and deviation : father's violence against mother from children's perspectives

Källström Cater, Åsa January 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study is to contribute to understanding of how children try to understand and interpret their own father and his (possibly) violent actions against their mother in relation to their general conceptualizations concerning fathers and violence. A general social psychological and interactionist approach is related to the children’s selves as the organizing and experiencing structures, the family as the arena for experiences and communicative interaction, and society as a structure of norms and general ideas. The study is based on interviews with ten children, who were eight to twelve years old at the time of the interview and whose mothers had escaped from their fathers’ violence to a Women’s House. Qualitative interpretation of each child’s complex abstracted and generalized conceptualizations of fathers and violence enabled the understanding of individual themes as crucial parts of each child’s logically unified and conciliated symbolic meaning through the theoretical construct of negotiation. The study results in the identification of three alternative theoretical approaches to meaning-conciliation. One can be described as ‘conceptual fission’ in the general conception of fathers, one as ‘conceptual fission’ in the conception of the own father and one as negotiating the extension of the opposite of violence, described as ‘goodness’. These negotiations can be understood as parts of distancing violence from either one subgroup of fathers, from the overall, essential or principle understanding of the own father within the child’s relationship with him, or from fathers altogether, including the child’s own. The children’s attempts to combine normalization of their father as an individual with resistance to his violent acts are interpreted as indicating the difficulty that the combination of the social deviancy of violence and the family context constitutes for many children.

On the role of parental professional experience in the development of their children\'s career project: an exploratory study

Cecilia Helena Gonçalves Ramos Vardi 22 April 2010 (has links)
The question driving this study exists in the context of career counseling and focuses on individuals who are presented conflicting career choices, as opposed to the conflicting choices themselves. Among those seeking career counseling, the group selected consists of teenagers who in their vast majority are looking to enter the workforce through an undergraduate course; and adults undergoing a career crisis who need to rebuild their career paths, as well as those at odds with the new direction their work context is headed. The logic of the work relationships has gone through changes in the last thirty years, such as the diminishment of formal work contracts, the increase in labor supply, the organizational culture changes due to mergers or acquisitions by other companies, among others. Thus, the question placed was how the most representative adults in a family would be affected in the groups selected for this study, the parents by the changes in the reality of the work relationships they experience and the conveyance of these experiences to the family. The objective of this work as an exploratory study was to seek supporting evidence to the hypothesis observed empirically of the existence of a correlation between the manner in which a working adult faces the challenges imposed by the work space and the career planning process of their teenage children about to begin their undergraduate studies. To this end, a number of constraints were set in order to limit the scope of the study. The familial group considered was the middle class household with its values, expectations, social participation and projected future. The families observed were composed of married parents with live-in children. Both parents were active professionals in their respective work fields and had at least undergraduate degrees. The children were high school students graduating from private schools and seeking an undergraduate degree. Four family triads were interviewed father, mother and teenage child choosing a career and their discourse analyzed in relation to the difficulties and coping strategies engineered by the parents against the expectations and projected future formulated by the children. A correlation was found in the speech of parents and children relative to the challenges and coping strategies lived by the parents and the career planning composed by the children. The career models constructed by the parents also had correlation to the professional future fantasies of the children. Therefore, it was concluded that in the scope of the social group studied there is an interrelationship between the professional experiences of the parents and the career planning of their children

Anhörigas upplevelse av vårdpersonalens bemötande inom palliativ vård : En litteraturöversikt / Relatives' experience of the healthcare staff's treatment in palliative care : A literature review

El Bazi, Wedad, Buszynska, Zuzanna January 2021 (has links)
Background: Relatives of a patient in the final stages of life are often in a very stressful situation. The situation can be perceived by relatives as foreign and disturbing. The patient and his or her relatives have the right to be treated by the care staff in a professional manner. Relatives are also an important part of the patient's lifeworld and in connection with the patients' disease they also suffer. Relatives' needs are often overlooked by healthcare professionals because the focus is on the patient. Aim: The purpose of this literature review was to create a summary of what relatives' experience of the care staff's treatment in palliative care. Method: The method is a literature review where ten scientific articles have been reviewed and analyzed. The articles were searched in Cinahl Complete, Medline with full text and PubMed. Results: Three main themes were identified. The first Needs and Expectations highlight the importance of communication and the relatives´ participation in nursing. The other Experiences include the positive and negative feelings of relatives and changes in the lives of relatives. The last main theme The Responsibility of the care staff focuses on the emotional support and the treatment of relatives. Conclusion: The results showed that a clear communication and support from the care staff had a good effect on how relatives experience the treatment. Participation in nursing was of great importance to relatives who most often wanted to be involved in all measures taken.
